This was my fifth visit and I'm sad to have to change my review but I had a pretty bad food experience on my last visit. Ordered the Fish Burned, one of their signature rolls, which was OK. Had a scallop sashimi which tasted off, like it was just a day too old. I let them know about it and am thankful they took it off our bill, but didn't really appreciate the server's response who said everyone else had it and no complaints. Sorry, but no they did not have the same scallop. It's not like it came from the same fish. Finally, ordered an omakase that fell flat. I've ordered the omakase here before and thought it was a great deal but on this day what really ruined it was the rice. It was mushy and had too much vinegar. On top of that, I don't think the hamachi in the roll was at its freshest either. If I come back, I'll probably stick to happy hour and their cooked options. read more

This restaurant is fairly new and has a calm, welcoming feel the moment you walk in. It isn't overwhelming at all. Very quaint space, with just the right balance of room and ambience/vibes. Parking is plentiful, which is always appreciated, and having the option to dine indoors or outdoors is a great touch. The staff is very friendly and attentive. As for the food, the Chicken Teriyaki was simply delicious and well prepared. I'll definitely be back, sooner rather than later! read more

We just tried Nomu, the new sushi spot in Boca, and WOW -- the moment you walk in, you feel that unmistakable New York ambience. The owners are from NY and it truly shows. The space is modern, upscale, and has that stylish city vibe you don't usually find in South Florida sushi places. Now the FOOD... absolutely sensational. Every roll had this elevated attention to character and detail -- the ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the fish tasted like it came straight from Hawaii. Not exaggerating. Here's what we ordered: Burned Roll Spicy wahoo, avocado, cilantro, topped with seared tuna, smoky chili powder, sesame, and Yuzu ponzu -- then lightly torched. Every bite had layers of flavor. Phenomenal. Mango Tango (Signature Roll) We swapped avocado for cucumber, and it came topped with mango, crunchy tempura flakes (we omitted those), and a lime honey glaze. Bright, fresh, and perfectly balanced. Triton Roll Tuna, salmon, hamachi, tamago, cucumber, spinach, and pickled radish. Clean, refreshing, and packed with flavor. A true chef's roll. Nomu Sushi is the kind of place I have been waiting for West Boca to have for a long time. We have been there three times since they opened about a month ago. The quality of the fish that you get here is better than almost any other sushi restaurant in Boca (save for the 150+ omakase restaurants). If you come for happy hour they have a few rolls for $8 or you can get the Chef's Selection that includes three rolls. The only thing I didn't love here was their Dinosaur roll and I think that is because having the roll deep fried took away from the taste of the fish. The place has a very loungy vibe and makes you feel like you are downtown and not in the Shadowood plaza in Boca. Besides their sushi, the mixed drinks here are great. I have come a few times for happy hour and their Lychee Martini and Moscow Mule were great. When we came on the first week (and it wasn't as busy as it was this weekend), the sushi chef told us how they get a lot of fish direct from Japan. read more

We had a group of 8 people and ordered lots of different rolls. All the rolls were fresh and delicious. Very flavorful! Some of our favorites were the royal crown, mango tango, burned fish, and drunken. Some said the Royal Crown was one of the best rolls they had ever had. We will def be back if in the area. read more

So the idea they had was great, a high end sushi bistro in west Boca, and at first things seemed promising. I've now been about 5 times, giving it more chances, thinking they would get it together but a good idea doesn't equate to a good restaurant if your execution is poor. They are missing the mark on so many levels at this point and it's so disappointing. Consistently, the shrimp tempura rolls are over fried and greasy or perhaps the oil hasn't been changed. The rice on the sushi rolls is not properly seasoned with vinegar and are sloppily constructed, inconsistent in size and just amateurish. The quality of the fish is questionable. I just don't think they have the DNA or vision to right their ship, and I don't see them surviving very long. While they don't serve escolar, which to me is a huge red flag for all their sushi-Thai Asian bistro style restaurants competitors, at this point I'd rather go to one of the carbon copy thai/sushi places then Nomu. read more

The food was soso, having been to Japan so many times maybe I'm asking for too much. Takoyaki was frozen not fresh, I make way better. We had the fried rice crackers w/ spicy tuna, way better at the wedding in Arizona last week. Sushi was good, my fried rice was ok. The BEST was our waitress M. She was so polite, helpful and just a complete doll. We won't be back but she is an absolute keeper. read more

We ordered a few apps that were good and a 10 piece sushi meal. 6/10 pieces had a strong order and were rubbery. This was the first time here so we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Told the waitress and she just comes back with the check. I assumed they would replace the sushi or offer something - but instead the manager came and argued / was so rude.
