Finally got around to going to this new restaurant which replaced Havana on Atlantic Avenue in Delray. Excited to see that feature southwestern cuisine in a really interesting Florida centric setting. Though extremely crowded, we were promptly seated in the back where it was somewhat quieter than the rest of the restaurant. We started with tableside guacamole ( $20) which was good but slightly higher priced than most restaurants. however, the accompanying chips were fantastic.! For Entrées, the guys ordered what I would team a Mexican chicken pot pie. Tasty but unusual. The ladies ordered a large salad advertised for two which really turned out to be barely enough salad for one. The manager came by and asked us how things were and to make things right, comped a nice fried ice cream dessert, which was quite tasty. Overall, it's an OK experience with great staff, but I find it more geared to selling cocktails and over-priced pitchers of margaritas. Linton welcomed us and Leticia waited on us in this beautiful southwest restaurant on the corner of Atlantic Avenue and SW 1st. We found parking at the municipal lot behind Geronimo's. The restaurant is just beautiful with an large indoor outdoor bar, beautiful shrubbery and a restaurant that belongs in Taos. Dinner here was a vacation from Florida, delicious food, good friends and great service. I enjoyed my spicy blood orange margarita that was half tequila & half Mezcal. For appetizers we tried different things from the happy hour menu. Our avocado was dipped in Panko crumbs and briefly deep fried. It was crunchy and flavorful on the outside with creamy lusciousness on the inside. The unique nachos were over loaded with buffalo steak, chilies, cheese, vegetables all smothered in a delectablered sauce served in a cast-iron pan. We shared the buffalo nickel, a buffalo burger on focaccia filled with juicy flavors. Our entrées were tacos. The birra tacos didn't need the sauce because they were so juicy and luscious. The duck Navajo tacos were in a dough with lots of vegetables and fresh cilantro on top. Everything we tasted was irresistible, scrumptious and unique. I can't wait to come back again! read more

Our experience started off a little rocky. We were told right away that we only had two hours for happy hour because there were reservations coming in later, which was fine with us. However, we were initially seated at a table that was directly in the sun, and I had specifically requested not to be seated in the sun. Fortunately, another table opened up shortly after, and we were able to move to a much more comfortable spot. The service was okay overall, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting based on the reviews and reputation of the place. It wasn't bad, just not particularly attentive or memorable. While there were some positives, the experience didn't quite live up to the expectations I had going in. The food was really good, and we ended up ordering a variety of dishes to try. Everything was flavorful, and the drinks were just as enjoyable as the food. One of my favorite items was the Citrus Grilled Avocado Salad. It was light, refreshing, and had the perfect tangy flavor for a hot day. We also tried the Frito Pie, which was fun and definitely brought back childhood memories. The standout dish for me was the Birria Flauta. The Christmas sauce really made the dish it added so much flavor, and the meat was juicy, tender, and delicious. For drinks, the watermelon margarita was amazing and incredibly refreshing. It was perfect for the weather. I also tried the spicy blood orange margarita, but that one just wasn't my favorite. I will start this review by saying this restaurant is beautiful, with thoughtful and interesting decorations. Our large party got seated at a table with a scorpion terranium in the center, a very unique part of the dining experience. Aside from this unfortunately, our group found this Sante Fe inspired restaurant to be severely lacking in the food quality. Our group ordered pork carniata tacos, mainly chips with barely any toppings for nearly $30. Our second mistake was everything else we ordered thereafter including the green chile mac and cheese, and the "enchilada" that was also referred to as lasagna. Part of authentic spanish inspired food are ingredients that pack a punch, and have some salt. We found these dishes to be quite bland and the chicken in the enchilada to be a strange rubbery texture. While most of the food was poor to say the least, the guacamole was fresh although not substantial for the cost. Additionally, the drinks were good. We ordered spicy margaritas that were delicious. To say I wouldn't return for food is accurate, however I would come back for a quick drink to enjoy the beauty and ambiance of the restaurant as this was the only true value to us. read more

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Geronimo last night. Management and our waiter Louis went above and beyond for us. They gave us a card when we sat down and Louis surprised us with a complimentary glass of Champagne for me and seltzer for my husband since he doesn't drink. The menu being between New Mexico and Native American food is absolutely incredible. This menu is like no other. There's so many different things to choose from. Different variations of tacos, burritos. The appetizers are delicious. The guacamole being tableside is so much fun. The service was like no other the managers came by and made sure that we were having a good time for my friend's birthday. And the ambience blows other restaurants on the Ave out. Geramino's in Delray has a really welcoming vibe overall. The wait staff was extremely nice and attentive, which definitely made the experience more enjoyable. The ambience--both inside and in the outdoor seating area--is very inviting and perfect for a casual night out. That said, the area around the bar can get pretty crowded and loud at times, which takes away from the otherwise relaxed atmosphere. As for the food and drinks, they were just okay. My birria tacos were a bit tasteless and didn't have the depth of flavor I was expecting. Food was cold and wait time for the food is long. This restaurant is a very nice and different dining venue that fits in perfectly in this neighborhood. To say that I could have given them 5+ stars for this meal because of the food and service. We even spoke with the GM who worked hard to talk with many table patrons throughout the evening. We sat at a hightop in the bar area in the corner with a great people watching view. Great hostess seating! The restaurant was very crowded on a Friday evening with everyone enjoying the vibrant music and breezes from the indoor/outdoor dining concept. We were warmly greeted by our server, Grace. She delivered our drinks so quickly the ice was not even melted. The menu is wonderful with so many choices from their hot stone quest dip which is not something that I would have generally ordered but this queso was filled with quality cheese and mushrooms. Not that liquid stuff at other places. My husband and I table shared our entrées of Santa Fe Tacos and Stacked Enchiladas. Both were outstanding in both flavor and portion size. The tacos had just a few small pieces of perfectly seasoned chicken on top of a blanket of melted cheese and Pico and the three enchiladas were served in a skillet with bubbling cheese sauce on top. The presentation and plating was definitely a culinary delight that I so look forward to enjoying again very soon. Now the BAD where that star was not earned. The restaurant was VERY warm inside and this is only April. August seems scary to think about how they will cool the inside down to make it tolerable to enjoy eating and drinking. Now for the biggie... When the average price on the menu is $20 per item, as a couple dining out, 2 drinks each, a shared appetizer, 2 entrées and a shared dessert is well over $150.00, add tip and you are now pushing $200 for the evening. Please don't think that anyone these days carries any cash no less over $200 to avoid their ADDED 4% credit card surcharge. We can afford to dine here so just increase your menu prices by 5% and take the credit cards as they were intended without the added fee. That is what makes a 5 star restaurant! read more

After discussing things over a few weeks ago with the GM, decided to meet a couple of friends at Geronimo's for lunch this afternoon. One of these friends is from Arizona and has mentioned how they have had to tamper expectations when eating Mexican food in SE Florida. That's fair, and I was really interested in hearing their thoughts. It is off season and we literally opened the restaurant (first customers in for an early lunch). I'll start by noting that you can definitely tell that Geronimo's is working on the service side of the business. The Manager, Clinton, came over to introduce himself and spent time chatting and checked in with us several times over the course of our meal. The servers were very attentive to food sensitivities and there were no mis-steps in our orders. It is definitely worth noting that I continue to feel this is hands down the best Mexican food I've had in the Delray Beach/Boca Raton/Boynton Beach area. There is definitely complexity and depth to the dishes. And I'm very pleased to say that my friend from Arizona thought the food was excellent. From the table-side guacamole to her Achiote Chicken Quesadilla. Definitely a step in the right direction and I'll be giving dinner service another try for sure. read more

This place was very good & Austin was our server. After a slight mix up cause it was busy, Austin handled everything like a pro. So we started off with the table, side guacamole, and the young lady that made it. I can't remember her name, but she did her thing. So my date originally ordered a different dish that they sold out of so they offered her the ribs with the mac & cheese and elote corn. She absolutely loved it, was very delicious and the presentation of the food was good. I'm an executive chef by trade so I kind of know what to look for. I ordered the red snapper. What a yummy dish. Very pretty as well. For dessert we got the banana Tres leches cake with a guava Drizzle that dessert put me in my feelings. It was really good. Overall the restaurant is beautiful. It's aesthetically pleasing gives you that southwest feel the front of the house manager what a great guy made sure everything was OK and overall we had the greatest experience at Geronimo's. Great spot for a great meal. Table side Guac was good ( even tho the chips seemed a bit old) . We shared an elote which was great( we asked for it to be cut in half and they did. My daughter had the soft tacos which were amazing and I had the half chicken ( I'd recommend sharing it ) which was done to perfection. The server we had was excellent almost to the point of fine dining service from her. It's a great open air room that brings the street inside . The bar is packed even tho it's a big "U" shape. Black olives mixed plantains just tasted wrong. Menu said red chili sauce, came with green tomatio sauce. The fry bread was cold, hard and dry. Fry bread really needs to be made to order. Even though the service and food was so bad, I will try it one more time because some of the other dishes looked good. I so wanted to love this place. I went today for the first time for what I thought was happy hour according to their website. The first question I asked when I sat down was "is it happy hour?", was told, no, not on Friday even though that is not on the website. Then the guy next to me gets a happy hour menu long story short I was not given happy hour price until I complained. Make sure you check your bill because not even the managers can agree if it's happy hour or not and you will probably get overcharged. read more
