    The 1812 Farm

If you want to make sure your wedding actually happens, no matter what, have it here! We got…read moremarried at The 1812 Farm the day of Hurricane Lee; we truly believe this would not have been possible without Sarah and her team. When no hotels, air bnb's, or family had power or running water, the 1812 Farm had a backup generator that allowed our wedding to go on as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening outside. We know from our other vendors that not many other couples having their wedding that day could say that. The 1812 Farm saved our wedding, made it more amazing than we could've ever dreamed, and you should absolutely let them do the same for you. Sarah was in touch with us constantly the week before our wedding, updating us on the weather and preparing us for the inevitable moving of our outdoor ceremony from Pemaquid Point to inside the barn. Her attentiveness allowed us to make this switch days in advance to ensure that we could get returns on our deposits and inform guests of the change with enough notice. She was also extremely helpful and flexible in guiding us through how we would have to adjust the barn in real time from a ceremony setup to a reception one. This transition was so flawless that we doubt anyone even noticed and to this day are still not sure how they did it. The 1812 Farm ensured that the bridal party was able to get ready in a space that had both electricity and running water!! Both our hair and make-up vendors were receiving live horror stories via text about weddings having to move locations at the last minute or do their hair and make-up in the dark. The 1812 Farm even had a shower that we could use since none of the hotels had power - We're telling you, this venue is prepared for ANYTHING. The staff was also beyond incredible at helping us adjust to the last minute changes. To be frank, there were many last-minute details we failed to coordinate because of the last minute change and general stress of the weather. Sarah and her team were so thoughtful in asking questions about these items and when I just looked panicked, graciously stepped in to say they would take care of making everything perfect. They did. Many of our guests told us they would have had no idea the ceremony wasn't meant to take place in the barn and commented on how seamless everything looked and felt throughout. If all this hasn't fully sold you yet, we must emphasize the food. Our wedding was three months ago and still all of our friends and family are talking about the food. Remember, this is a wedding that took place during a HURRICANE... and yet the crab cakes are still the main topic of conversation. We knew when we first started planning our wedding that we wanted the food and drink menu to be really fantastic and to reflect midcoast Maine. Sarah spent a lot of time going over all the different food options and helped us narrow down the right choices for our wedding. Her experience also really helped us to balance our tastes with the necessities needed to make all our guests happy. The Stone Cove Catering menu is honestly a dream and everything on it sounds incredible, but our recommendation would be to try and incorporate the crab cakes and swordfish skewers in some way. We also opted for a lobster bake rehearsal dinner the night before which was not only delicious, but also such a fun and unique experience for our friends and family. Lastly we will note that we looked at a lot of venues around midcoast Maine for our wedding and The 1812 Farm was unquestionably the perfect choice. The barn and surrounding landscape are beautiful and the place is incredibly maintained; Sarah is so knowledgeable and really seems to care about every wedding on the property; and they are so organized and prepared for any wedding scenario you could imagine.

The hall was simple and elegant and farmy all at the same time. There were two vehicles on the back lawn that held apps and the alcohol. Again not sure where that stuff would have gone if there was snow on the ground. Overall a great night

This region is so fortunate to have such an amazing take out option. In terms of service, quality…read moreand price, this place has no local equal. They are open 5 days a week, and offer a (mostly) regular, rotating menu that cycles through differing themes: Mexican, Pizza, Burgers, etc. Unlike most places that try to do too much and can't deliver consistent quality, VIP keeps their rotating nightly menu small enough that every single offering is of the highest quality and has a distinctly unique twist. I have now tried the burgers, pizza, tacos and enchiladas - all phenomenal. They have a lot of seafood options, which I don't eat, but others I know have raved about it. Portions are on the smaller side (as is the price), but satisfying and filling. For example, the burger bun is the size of the actual burger it contains, so you don't get loaded down with extra carbs, like most places. And the meals always come with an excellent side, such as homemade mac & cheese, or (amazing) beans and rice. I've been visiting this region for over 40 years, and often lamented at the lack of good, affordable food. VIP is the solution I never expected, but I am so grateful they opened. Their format is to offer early pre-ordering on Facebook each day, to ensure they don't run out of your preferred meal, but they can also accommodate on-the-spot orders (not the recommended method, as they are very popular, and stuff does run out). This format is an added bonus during the COVID crisis, where social distancing is still highly advised. I would eat here every day, if cost and calories were not a consideration. There are plenty of food pics on their Facebook page. They can be found one property past Dee's Variety (going South), just at the turn onto Huddle Road, on Rt 130 (Bristol Road). www.facebook.com/visitvip/

My husband and I have always been a bit shocked at the prices yes. So we have not shopped here much…read moreover the past few years. But. Not wanting to spend another $50 on lunch at the usual places in town we decided to grab some tuna salad today and eat outside. I bought an Asian salad with noodles and peanuts and carrots and incredible dressing. I swear, this was the best salad I've had in months if not years. I'm not kidding. Even the carrots stood out, were different. Delicious. The fennel is 2 or 3 times bigger than fennel at the grocery stores, $4.99 (usually about $3.99 at the others) 4 kinds of plantain chips. Fantastic low sugar pineapple soda from Mexico. Beautiful corn. After eating this food today at a picnic table over on Pemaquid Pond, we are doing a complete reversal and going to start shopping here a lot more. Yes it's expensive but vegetables do taste different, esp when they're not flown in from far away. And the attitudes of the employees is joyful and welcoming, such a good feeling. Good Job Rising Tide!

So I had this desire, but what could I do with it?I I got on line, and decided to call Rising Tide, I spoke with their front desk manager Kate, who is fabulous by the way, and within no time she jumped on board my bandwagon. They don't have a delivery service, but another wonderful employee said she would be happy to deliver my gift. Within an hour they put together a lovely gift bag for me. Fresh flowers, a bottle of red wine, an array of organic chocolates, a yummy creamy cheese, specialty crackers, grapes, and a lovely card. Kate even wrote my personal sentiments inside the card for me. In about one hour they took my desire to do something nice, and brought my wish into fruition. Talk about angels on earth!! Kate accidently forgot to charge me for the grapes, and wanted to pay for those herself. I can never say enough about the employees of Rising Tide Co-op and their hearts for service. Bravo my friends!! Thank you for all you do!! You deserve acknowlegement for just being you! You can bet if I ever make it back to your area, Rising Tide will be my first stop! I can't wait to meet you!
