As a born and raised Mainah I must say I was impressed with this spot. Found in Damariscotta slightly off the main road of downtown but you may find some signage advertising on them on Main Street. I suggest you follow the signage to visit here. They have a few parking spots and some street parking available nearby too. It's a spot that you order at the counter and get a number and can enjoy either an indoor or outdoor table and wait for the food to be delivered. We enjoyed a table outside in a perfect shaded area on a beautiful day. Inside was a perfect rustic and homey vibe with some live music during our visit. Both inside and out were popular choices and we had a little line before ordering but minimal wait. Food wise my I got a lobster cilantro and lime lobster roll, while my wife got a Lemon Dill Lobster roll (both currently $30 market price). We split a large basket of fries and could not pass up splitting a current special of Homemade Blueberry Bread Pudding with Lemon Glaze. We know we made good choices when the worker taking our order was telling use we made the perfect choice of our food spread. The lobster rolls were tasty and included a good amount of lobster to them! Fries were crispy and only could have used a touch more salt and finally the bread pudding was amazing and the perfect bite to finish our meal! What a fantastic spot worth seeking out! The roll was fresh and delicious, the huge chunks of lobster were fresh and tasty. I got the butter option and it wasn't too heavy on butter at all. The side of cole slaw was great too. It wasn't my fav slaw but as always that could be a preference thang. And maybe you can toss in there that the fries could've been a little hotter but they were tasty and a good portion. Skip the places on the main drag and check out this hidden gem just around the corner. Much less crowded, the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding, especially for a casual lunch spot! The minute we walked in to this coastal cozy hidden gem, just a few steps away from the main drag, we were warmly welcomed by two super friendly employees. We checked out the extensive menu that had several choices for lobster rolls. We ended up ordering a jumbo traditional lobster roll with butter, and a cup of lobster stew. They split the stew into two cups for us which was nice! The lobster roll was by far the best lobster we had on our trip to Maine. The lobster was fresh, tender, and loaded into a toasty bun and drizzled in delicious butter. The stew was full of lobster and perfectly creamy and brothy. We enjoyed our food inside, which had plenty of seating, on a rainy, chilly fall afternoon. There was outside seating available as well. Highly recommend this spot as an alternative to some of the more popular, frequented lobster stops along the way between Portland and Acadia. read more

OH. MY. GOD. From the start, the service was outstanding! The people working there were so welcoming and sweet! We had the haddock fish and chips. The breading was thin, the fish was fresh and cooked to perfection! We also ordered the Crabster and the Lime Cilantro Lobster roll and both of them were TO DIE FOR. My wife and I were on a week long road trip to Maine and we stopped at The Lobster Haul and out of the 9 lobster rolls I had on the trip, this was by far the best. The lobster was so fresh and flavorful. Oh..To die for! I got a can of IPA and we took my roll out to the back picnic tables and savored every bite. The owner actually came out to talk with us and he was super cool and he said he and his friends get fresh lobsters every day. The lobster is overflowing from the reasonably priced lobster roll. Bottom Line: Super friendly staff and tender lobster rolls. My husband and I were hangry from a longer than anticipated road trip and not being willing to settle for anything less than a stellar lobster roll we stopped at The Lobster Haul for a late lunch. We were so thankful that they were still open approaching 3pm. The staff was very welcoming and conversational. We ordered two cold lobster rolls with lightly dressed and very tender lobster. The rolls were delicious and reasonably priced for the high quality. The interior of the restaurant is quaint with some neat historic photos of the area. Since the weather was good we sat outside and enjoyed the quietness of the Damariscotta side street and we appreciated all of the planters with freshly planted annuals. We were looking for a no frills lobster roll place that wasn't super crowded. So we stopped by this place e around 2pm. We've heard of Red's lobster rolls which are really popular but we didn't want to wait on a long line. The Lobster Haul is a small lobster roll place that has fried fish, clams, steamed whole lobster and crab too. I really wanted to try the crab & lobster roll with 1/2 crab and 1/2 lobster but they were out of it. So instead we went with the cilantro-lime lobster roll, a basket of fries, and a can of beer. Came to around $38 at the time we visited August 11th. The food was ready in about 10 mins, the lobster roll tasted really fresh and really flavorful. The fries were fresh and piping hot. I cannot believe I forgot to review this place last fall. We spent a week in Maine and we tried a LOT of lobster and a lot of lobster rolls; this place, by far, was the absolute BEST lobster roll and strew we found...by a long shot. I had the three lobster sliders so i could try each one...the warm butter, mayonnaise, and the cilantro lime. I would like to say I stopped there, but nope...I went back for a regular size warm butter roll. Dear gracious it was SO dang good! My husband went straight for the jumbo roll and had the mayonnaise version. It was STUFFED with lobster. Like mine, the bread was so good and perfectly toasted, and the buttery FRESH lobster melted in our mouths. We still talk about it, that is how much we enjoyed it. The stew was chocked FULL of lobster and had a very rich and buttery cream sauce. We both commented on how simple it looked, but that it packed one hell of a punch in the flavor department. It was a beautiful fall day, and we sat outside...us Texans love it when the temperature is under 158 degrees. ;-) The people who worked there were extremely friendly and we had fun chatting with them and asking tourist-y questions. Stopped in on a ride up the coast after a visit to the Frances Perkins Homestead National Monument. The lobster slider sampler was so good - 3 rolls-traditional, butter, and a cilantro lime that was a refreshing change from the usual! But the star of the show was the fried clams. I really enjoyed coming to the Lobster Haul. The service is very friendly, the food came out fast, the environment is cozy with 60s pop music. It's a little up the street from the main street, so even though it was a weekend afternoon, it was not crowded. We had slider combos. The regular slider selection has hot buttered, cold mayo, and the lime cilantro. The hot butter was delicious and highlighted the pure sweet lobster, while the lime cilantro was surprisingly fresh itself. The cold mayo was not over dressed so you still were able to experience the lobster. We also got lemon dill, Crabster (1/2 crab, 1/2 lobster), and BLT rolls as sliders. While the crabster was also amazing, with the crab and lobster complimenting each other while both stood on their own, we felt the dill and bacon rode front and center on their respective rolls. So glad we found this place on Yelp and stopped for lunch! The service is excellent and everyone who works here is incredibly warm and hospitable. We live in two tourist towns, so the idea of finding good food in a town like Damariscotta was speculative at best. After trying one of the local hot spots on our first attempt (eh), we wandered into the Lobster Haul during what would become a busy lunch on the first day of Pumpikin Festival (who knew.) In short. Wow! After suffering through so many bs. lobster rolls at so many blase crap spots what a breath of fresh air this place was. Especially the people, the young couple who own the place were behind the counter and awesome. Felt more like an afternoon lunch at your Maine mom's house than a tourist spot. Just spot on. I don't give many 5 stars to anyone but a restaurant that defines its existence. This place does that in spades. The steamers were the best I've ever had and the crab and lobster roll was a welcome balance after days of lobster only crap at $45 a pop. Had the fried whole bellies and just perfect combo of super light breading and barely cooked beauties. I'm a food prick who is fortunate enought to eat across the country at many Michelin stars and this was the best meal I had in Maine on 2 or 3 levels. Go without hesitation. BTW, I'm the asshole who's rental truck ended up F'ing your parking, but check and more on the way!
