Establishment appears to be new, with limited seating; however extremely clean. Freshly made pastries and coffee.; the baklava and cannolis were very flavorful and fresh. The staff extremely friendly and courteous.

Heard about this place on social media. Somehow the bakers are associated with the now closed yiayias bakery which I miss! So had to try it. The bread is just as delicious as Yiayias bakery, service very friendly and the kourambiedes were some of the best I've had lately. Delicious! Need to return to try more things

Opened by the previous owner of Yaya on 31st street, I stumbled upon this Greek bakery by mistake. We paid several visits, eating everything from tiramisu to their famous spinach pies, which I remember were the feature of the old store, While they don't have the breads anymore, their orange cake, coconut breads, and small seating arrangements make this a wonderful hidden gem with traditional Greek desserts and comfort foods. I have been back and will be back many more times since November.

I was one of those people that was saddened by the closing of Yaya's Bakery in Astoria a few months ago. So when I heard that that the same owner/baker has opened a new bakery, I made sure to go and support them on their first day of business. This new spot is much cozier and brighter. And the pastries all looked amazing. I ended up getting a half pount of Amygdalota ($12.50) and a slice of Nutella Baklava ($4.75) The owner was so incredibly kind and welcoming. She threw in a few pastries in my bag for free! She said that they were nearing closing time so she wanted to give some on the house for me to try. How kind is that?! When I got home I saw she gave me two muffins (chocolate and berry), a sesame bread and chocolate croissant. I can't wait to eat these! The Amygdalota (Greek sytle almond cookies) were delicious. They were so light, soft and chewy but with a crunchy exterior. The Baklava was rich and sweet. I don't usually lean toward overly sweet pastries but I liked this one. The flaky phyllo doug and chopped nuts went well with the sweet filling. Malu is a welcome addition to this neighborhood. I hope more people support them.

Great new bakery find. The chocolate croissants are great. The owner I think is the same from Yaya bakery I haven't been there but sounds like a popular one. Tons of baked goods, it's a Greek bakery Café. Nice place to stop location near Steinway subway. Prices are reasonable I haven't tried too many of their pastry, but the ekmek was good. I have to go back and try some of the other things. I had an eclair once, that was good too. Mostly stopped in for breakfast muffins or croissants in the morning, and these are good. Would definitely go back next time I'm walking in the area.

Love this bakery! The coffee barista and baker are absolutely fantastic! The galaktoboureko was delicious - it was perfect!!

    The second spinach pie slice

The service was vey nice. The spinach square slice was fresh. I finally found a place I can come too. The taste from Ya Ya Bakery from Astoria is here.

There's usually a line of some length during peak hours and especially around the holidays. You can tell by the sheer volume of baked goods and cakes available in their window displays that they sell a lot daily. This location is on the main drag of the little downtown section of Forest Hills, the baked goods in the front window display connect to a tall and long glass counter along the left side of the store that extends almost to the back. At the back middle and along the right side of the wall there's seating for about two dozen people at small cafe tables. They carry an assortment of traditional cakes (full and sliced), pies, cookies, pastries, cheesecakes, cupcakes, ice cream and coffee/tea drinks. A wide variety of flavors in each, so you're bound to find something sweet to satisfy most here. They are a classic bakery so from what I can tell, they don't carry items that are gluten, dairy or nut free. I've purchased their apple pie, fruit tart, berry napoleon, red velvet and chocolate fudge cakes from this or other locations in the past and they're all solid choices for desserts to share with a larger group, though I find a lot of their cake options to be on the richer side. My most recent encounter with their cakes came in the form of a slice of their seven layer cake $9.95 which is thin layers of yellow cake alternating with chocolate cream mmm pretty tasty, and their caramel cake $9.95 which had a layer of chocolate cake in the middle, sandwiched by caramel cream and white cake on either side. The latter had a pronounced caramel flavor that was enjoyable though a bit too much cream for me. My preference would be for their chocolate cakes over other cake flavors here. Their apple pie is one of my favorite apple pies anywhere tho!

However, the staff were also super warm and accommodating, and the quality of the items we got (gluten free vanilla and chocolate cupcakes) was great. The actual cake bases of both types were moist and flavorful. I could've gone with a little less frosting and more cake, but it made for a very aesthetically pleasing topping with the vibrant colors, sprinkles, and glitter. I kept getting strong hints of rose flavor from the pink frosting on the chocolate cupcakes so I'm not sure if they infused it with that. Overall, a great little spot, and really a savior for procrastinators looking for sweet goodies to take to a gathering when other last-minute ideas fall through!

You could walk into almost any…read moreneighborhood and have your pick of incredible baked goods, often from family-run shops specializing in different ethnic traditions. Over the years, as many of those bakers retired, the number of quality bakeries slowly dwindled. One by one, many of the old favorites disappeared. So when Aphrodite's opened, I was eager--and a bit skeptical--to see if it would be worth the trip. Then I tried their mini cheese empanadas, and that settled it. These little sweet treats are unbelievably addictive. I've brought them to gatherings and shared them with friends and family, and without fail they disappear almost instantly. I honestly can't think of another baked item I've purchased that has been so universally loved. Since then, I've started exploring more of their pastries and baked goods, and each visit has been a pleasant surprise. One item seems better than the next. No, the prices are not cheap--but the quality absolutely justifies it. In this case, you really do get what you pay for.
