Me and the fam hiked in the Gorge, and we were hungry. Stopped by this little place near Natural Bridge State Park. Upon entering, you immediately realize its hipster owned and operated. We ordered the Barbecoa Burrito, Pork Tacos, BLT, and chicken tacos (kid menu version). With all the menu items, the ingredients were high quality. You also get a lot of local products as you'd expect in a hipster establishment. Personally, I think the chicken tacos were the best, even though they were from the kid menu. The burrito and pork tacos were really good, but there just wasn't enough or the right mix of seasoning there to take them to the next level. When you make a burrito, you have to season it just right to cover for the flour taste of the massive tortilla. They just didn't do that part. I was able to compensate with hot sauce, but I shouldn't have to. You almost need a cook from a Mexican restaurant to come in and make that combination right. Again, the burrito and taco were fresh tasting with quality ingredients, but it just missed on this one area. What about the BLT? I don't know. I mean, anyone can make a good BLT, so I'm not going to comment on that one. Not sure why my son even ordered it. But, I was glad he did because the fries that came with it were awesome. I highly recommend the fries. One other thing...it was pretty crowded in there the day we visited, and a lot of people were ordering the burgers. This is kind of the ultimate climber's spot for burgers (or when you want to change it up from Miguel's pizza). Be warned, though, that if you come during a holiday weekend, you will have to wait A LONG time, and even then, they may run out of many of the items on the menu. I did though love how they catered to the local climbing community: they even had guidebooks for sale! Nice little quiet place to stop while hiking or biking in Red river Gorge. There's really only about 4 places to eat in the vicinity but this was a nice place. Four of us. Two had tacos and two of us had burgers. The beef tastes great, you can tell it's farm raised and not processed like fast food or JTM meats. It's BIG too. The women liked their grilled chicken tacos. Slam dunk. They had fresh cut wild flowers on every table. The staff was friendly and helpful. The menu was limited and not a lot of variety. Extra nice vibe on this eatery snuggled into the hill side. Extra friendly staff and burgers were cooked up fresh. Burgers were a bit thin and over cooked served up with limp over salted fries. The regular skin on fries were better than the limp over salted sweet potato fries. The toppings for the burgers were served up on the side and my favorite thing was the sliced pickles. OK, were not talking about a fancy 5 start gourmet restaurant with condescending waiters ready to sweep your table after each course, but let me tell you - this place is as good as it gets out in these woods!! We spent most of our vacation eating here. We tried a few other places in the area, but nothing compared. Nothing even came remotely close!! Local farm fresh food, simple flavors, made to order, veggie options, and friendly service. If that doesn't keep you coming back, I'm not sure what would. OH YEAH - they have BEER. Did you read that - yep you did - THEY HAVE BEER!!! Some people might say, Oh big deal - but in the dry counties around believe me IT IS!! The owner is very welcoming and made sure everything was to our liking. Even on a SUPER busy night (I'm talking major line out of the door here) over memorial weekend - they did their best to keep us subdued with fries and such till our order could be made. He even talked this veggie gal into eating an order of his fish tacos - and let me tell you, they were AWESOME! Well worth the cheat ;) I also had made to order breakfast burritos each day and even though they were busy that weekend, each one was made exactly as I asked. I tried the veggie burger a few nights in a row with different toppings - very good for sure. Also recommend the kale salad!! You should save room for the carrot cake too - so worth every single lickable calorie! They do have specials each night and for brunch, and I suggest you try them. After two nights of eating pizza at Miguel's Pizza, we wanted to try something different so we came here for burgers. I went with the Heavenly Cheeseburger, which had grass-fed beef and aged cheddar. I added bacon and guacamole. I don't know if it was because I was really hungry, but I thought it was really delicious! The patty was juicy and well seasoned. The guacamole was freshly made with a hint of jalapeno peppers. I tried my friend's sweet potato fries and they were good too. It's a great alternative to Miguel's Pizza if you're climbing in the area. I like the laid back atmosphere of the place. It also has nice decor. I'd definitely come back to try their other stuff! Excellent! Highly recommended! This place is a gem and I Wich we weren't out of Towner because I would totally come back over and over. First, it's super rustic and almost a home I the wall place, but the inside has a nice natural environment with beautiful photography and some neat decorations. One thing that stood out was thoer menu boards, all done in chalk with beautiful handwriting, even with small print.*I say this because today you can order boards with chalk looking but printed so it doesn't smudge. However this person hand wrote in real chalk the menu, plus boards with descriptions about where their food comes from. Wow! The food is great and the proportions for the price are amazing. You will walk out full. The burgers are so delicious and seasoned amazingly, so yummy. The tacos were loaded in meat (well seasoned and yummy). *High Five to the Chef!!!!!! I could go one about what we had, but all of it was fabulous so I won't keep on. I just highly recommend this place if you are in the area. I tried to call in the order ahead of time and just show up to pick up but they don't take phone orders, have to arrive, order inside and then wait for your food. Seemed to be a hipster place for rock climbers. We came on Friday night in early November and the place was absolutely packed. The line to order went half way through the restaurant. There is a separate line to order drinks vs food - so I was able to order a cold brew ($5 Truth IPA) while I waited in line to order our food. Someone was thinking when that put that plan in place! Red River Rockhouse is great! I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Red River Gorge. We first came here as part of a yelp event and loved it so much we came back a couple of days later when we were back at the Gorge on a paddle board trip. The meat is locally sourced all within an 80 mile radius. The owner buys from the smallest farms first. How cool is that! Most of their produce is also locally sourced based on availability. All of the food is made in house. Their salsas and guacamole are so good! My friend and I split the burger and the spicy beef burrito today. Both were great! Please make a point to stop here if ever in the area. It is easy to miss if you are driving by so keep an eye put for it. You'll be glad you did. We stopped by after ziplining when one of the guides recommended it. Hubby got the cheeseburger and fries, i got the veggie burger and sweet potato fries. They serve beer, wine ( not on Sundays) and soda and juice in cans and bottles. The food came out and was blazing hot right off the grill. Best veggie burger I have ever had. It was incredibly perfect. The sweet potato fries were hot and fresh and perfect. His burger looked so good and he said it tasted great. His fries were yummy, too. They give you enough fries to split so next time we'll share an order. We drove from Dayton and stopped in at this place on the way back from kayaking. Holy Christ, this food is incredible. 5 of us went, and we got the cheeseburger with their local garlic pepper cheddar and their tacos. This place has the best salsa I've ever tasted. This is a MUST HAVE when visiting the Red River Gorge. The business is owned and run by rock climbers and they focus very heavily on local providers for their food and beverages. There's a large list of the local business they support to make their delicious food on the wall immediately upon walking in to order. They even have t shirts and stickers to buy to remember them by. The guacamole here is amazing and their veggie burgers are phenomenal. There is outdoor seating as well as indoor seating so no matter the time of year, you're welcomed. The only reason they are missing a star is because of the long lines and long waits that can accompany eating at the Rock House. One time, my group waited almost 2 hours outside in 40° weather (because their inside area was full) for our food from ordering to eating. The food was well worth it and yes, we should have just picked a different restaurant, but being able to handle larger crowds is important during peak climbing season. read more

This tiny place depicts the whole feel of the gorge. If you are visiting the area you either hike, rock climb, camp or live the cabin life. However you do it, You get what you wanna get out of it. If you don't wanna hike then your hike is gonna suck. Right?! Anyway, when I come here I wanna eat and I'm excited about it! When all you have is a granola bar in your backpack a burger, blt , beer or a hummus wrap is like mana from heaven! There are other options too. It's small and you order from the counter. They give you a number and you find a seat. You can bring your favorite animal and sit outside if you want to, but to the contrary of another review I see on Yelp, it does not smell like dog feces at all, and it's pretty hateful for that review to call the locals, dirty hippies that work there. I think it's great and I'm glad there is more than just a pizza place down the road to choose from! Sheesh, its one thing to say they messed up your taco, but calling the workers dirty is just stupid. That guy needs to take a hike or do some yoga. Miguel who?!? This place is so much better! It's about three miles from Miguel's and well worth the extra drive. It's in the Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge area. So, if you're planning a trip to the area, bookmark this place. They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and if you're wanting breakfast, that's only available on Sundays. On Sundays, they don't serve alcohol because it's a county law, so blame the county, not the restaurant. They have plenty of non alcoholic drinks too, including Ale81. The specialty here is the hamburgers, which are locally sourced and made of grass-fed beef. Actually they use as much local products as possible. They serve tacos, but they're by no means a Mexican restaurant. After you walk in, you order at the counter and then they'll give you a number. You can see them cooking in the background, which I like at any place. I ordered a hamburger and fries. To add cheese was only an extra $.75, and they had a bunch of types of cheeses to choose from. If you like your burger well done, request it that way, otherwise it may be a bit pink. The burger was phenomenal!! The pickles that came with it were some of the best that I've ever had... and I'm a pickle snob. I asked for extra and they were so nice about it and brought out a big side of them. Everyone was so nice and friendly. Literally four people asked how our meals were. The owner came out and chatted a bit. He's from Winchester and bought the place seven years ago and completely gutted the place before he opened it six years ago. It's pretty awesome to see an owner so hands on.
