Bucket list item smashed. Sessanta was perfect here (Primus, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer). This is the world's best music venue. What is there to say? I was under the impression they'd allow you to choose the parking lot based on where your seats were. We were guided in, with no decision-making ability. For some people, it means walking in a circle to avoid the ramp line. Be prepared for a bit of a walk. Considering its remote location (compared to typical venues), the concession offerings are decent and quick. The bathrooms are heated but co-ed. It's hard to find your seat if there are a lot of people. It gets tight. The acoustics are amazing, and seeing lightning in the distance behind the stage was phenomenal. They have lights that point at the rocks and remind you of the beautiful, natural setting you're in. If Phantogram plays here again, I'm selling my soul to be there. read more

We had heard about this Amphitheater from our friend Mechelle, who used to live in Denver. So we decided to check it out and admire its beauty. The land on which Red Rocks Amphitheater resides is the traditional territory of the Ute, Cheyenne and Arapahoe Peoples. The Ute, Cheyenne and Arapahoe are among the 48 contemporary tribal nations having an historic presence on the land that makes up the State of Colorado. The venue got its green light to be built in 1936 and it took five years to be built. To grade the theater so that all seats would have great views of the stage, workers removed 50,000 cubic feet of dirt and rock. Although steam shovels accomplished some of the heaviest work, most of the muscle came from the picks and shovels, wheelbarrows and rock sleds of the dollar-a-day workers. Today, there is a nice museum highlighting all the stars that have performed here and it's a great history of music performance. Think of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Bonnie Raitt, John Denver, U2, Bob Dylan, Diana Ross and many many more.......For many years, this venue was the music venue with most yearly attendance in the entire country. read more

I really enjoyed this beautiful piece of scenario while visiting Denver with 2 friends. The amphitheater is free to visit, except for concerts/events. We first stopped at the Trading Post. It has merch to buy along with snacks and some info about the origins of the theater. It also has a cutesy art corner of local artists pieces. Definitely check that out. Then, we made our way to a steep walk up the winding ramp to the base of the theater. This definitely winded me, but not enough to stop, I just took it slow. Once at the base, you can get a great view of the stage. You can watch people working out on the steps. Then we made our way up the 193 steps to they top plaza of the theater. I took my time with this too, but it was better than the ramp. Once you arrive at the top, take in the beautiful views of the city and surrounding Red Rocks, making you feel like an ant. Take some great photos. We then made our way to the visitor center and the Red Rock Hall of Fame. Which was cool to see, and it's nice to enjoy a little AC. So many artists of all genres have played here. It's pretty interesting to learn more about how this was created, the first performance at the theater, etc. You could really spend an entire day at the park, hiking, enjoying the views, driving around the park, exercising on the steps. I loved that they show movies here and have yoga and fitness events. Sad I missed the yoga. We didn't get a chance to take in a concert, not enough time. But it seems pretty epic to see someone perform here. Artists love performing at this venue because of the acoustics and energy. It's a fun place to get your steps in and see something majestic. read more

If you ever have the chance to see a show at Red Rocks, do not hesitate - absolutely do it! Even if you live within a few-hour flight or drive, still make it happen. If you couldn't tell from the hyperbole of my introduction, I think Red Rocks is one of the best venues ever :-) We saw Nine Inch Nails, and everything was amazing - the acoustics, the views, the vibes - everything. The hike up to the entrance is a little intense, just so you know if you have mobility issues or anything. There are vans that come around to drive folks up to the top, so be on the lookout for those if you're not able to make the walk up. You will have a seat number, but the seating is benches so the folks standing around you can creep over into your space (intentionally or not, as there is a lot of dancing and swaying that can happen) Even with those small drawbacks, it is still 1000% worth it to see a show at Red Rocks! read more

Why are there no parking attendants for exiting the concerts?? There were oodles of helpers in vests when we arrived, but upon leaving, the parking lot turns into a tangle of hell and there is no help to be found. Food was good. Venue was great but leaving was a NIGHTMARE. read more

What a great setting and location. I want to come back here when there's a concert! We were just visiting the area and stopped by on our drive to visit someone. This is such a fantastic place for a bit of hiking as well as a bit of rest. We brought over some lunch which we were able to eat while seated in the amphitheater and enjoying the spectacular weather and views. The restrooms by the parking lot are immaculate and really nice. I love the large wooden doors, and the bathrooms themselves were clean and well functioning. They have a small museum (free admission) which is fun as well. Coming from California, not having to pay for parking, admission to the amphitheater, admission to the museum, etc. is a weird feeling - we love charging (a lot) for everything in California. If you're nearby, or better yet, if there's a concert, go and visit! read more

My review is for the entire compound including the trails. We did not catch a show here, although someday, I have no doubt we will. Red Rocks is a marvel of civic engineering and design. It blends harmoniously into it's surroundings, and it's stunning. Just getting to Red Rocks is a fun journey. There's winding roads up to the top. I cannot speak for parking during an event, but in the morning when the Venus is open to the public, there was no charge for parking. Once you get to the amphitheater, it's an amazing view! There's lots of seating on largue graduated steps. In the distance, you can see the Denver skyline. When the venue is open to the public during the day, you are free to roam around, and there are also many on-site nature trails. Once we explored the venue, we went on a hike through a few of the trails. It was great to be able to get in a good morning's workout hiking . There was a bit of elevation change, so be sure you are wearing good hiking shoes and dress accordingly. We even saw deer on the trail! Overall Red Rocks is an incredible place, and I would highly recommend this iconic Denver destination. Next time, we'll to definitely catch a show here as well! read more

We flew in exclusively to come see Manchester Orchestra play Red Rocks and enjoy the much anticipated venue of what I had felt is one of the must unique venues in my opinion. We were slightly nervous about weather and parking and as we were driving from Denver to Red Rock some heavy showers were slowing. Surprisingly as we neared the amphitheater the sky's parted and sun came out. Luckily the rain was done! Parking was a little uncertain as to how it worked but this to was not as nerve racking as expected we got a spot on n the lower lot. We hung out in the lot before the show and had a few drinks. The toughest part was making our way to and from the venue parking lot. It was a bit of a hike but didn't help we had traveled all day and the elevation was a little winding. The staff was extremely nice and welcome. It was actually refreshing that they made it fun upon arrival and very helpful on any questions we had. We had 7 row center and Wow the seats were absolutely amazing. As showtime approached and the sun set the atmosphere was outstanding and continued to get better. The ambiance of where we were was absolutely stunning. I'm extremely picky about sound and in fact was audio engineer some years ago. I have been to some of many coveted venues and Red Rocks absolutely surpassed my expectations. Acoustics where the phenomenal and vantage points were incredible with perfect slightly almost anywhere. Absolutely amazing! I wish i was able to frequent Red Rocks but i'm sure we will be flying from Chicago again sometime soon just to enjoy this venue. Bravo!!!!! read more

*This review is NOT based on a concert outing but a morning visit to see the site.* Built during the Great Depression, the Red Rocks Project was the most ambitious project by the Workers Progress Administration (WPA) and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Now that I got that out, Red Rocks Amphitheatre would be the HIGHLIGHT of my visit to Denver. I've been to the Hollywood Bowl, another open-air amphitheater, and the comparison is unmistakable far and wide as this takes the winning prize. The location of this beauty surrounded by two monumental sandstones is ASTOUNDING. There is also a glimpse of the Downtown at the very top. I came here twice because we arrived hours before a show the first time I was here, so that we couldn't walk past the security. After hearing praises about the place, we returned in the morning. When we arrived, there were plenty of parking spaces, and many came to exercise by running the stairs. I even saw a fireman fully dressed walking the stairs. Now, that was commitment. With the elevation and the acoustics bouncing off the rocks, I couldn't imagine how music would beautifully sound at this venue. There is a visitor center and a trading post where you can purchase apparel and other goods inside and underneath the arena. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. read more

My wife and I flew in from Tampa solely for the 3-night Eric Church run at Red Rocks--lifelong fans, and this was a bucket list experience. We paid $1,100 per seat, per night. The first show was incredible. On the second night, a late group arrived and demanded we "move over." When I explained I was sitting in my assigned seat, they became hostile. I asked security for help--but instead of de-escalating, they moved us, without asking our side of the story. It was humiliating, and I missed the third show entirely out of frustration and disappointment. Security mishandled this badly, and after spending nearly $10,000 on the trip, I left heartbroken. I've contacted Red Rocks and hope they'll make it right, but this should never happen to respectful fans. read more

Beautiful, historic venue that's a must-see when visiting the Denver area. Lots of inclines to reach the venue, and you more than likely will have to park at least a half mile away or more from the venue. Sound quality is incredible, and the visuals and set up are great. The crowd isn't the best though, and I wouldn't recommend seeing an EDM show here as there's not much room to dance without fear of falling down the steps or bumping into someone. read more

First constructed like hundreds of millions of years ago (seats and stage etc added later), Red Rocks has hosted many amazing musical acts and other performances/events over the years. I've managed to see a few shows here and can say that in my opinion, this is one of the best venues of all time. Large enough for a good crowd, small enough so that every seat in the house is at least within a decent range of the stage. Outstanding acoustics, generally cool or at least cool-ish weather and at least in my experiences, free parking. About that parking, it can be a bit of a hike from the lower lots to the seating area, so if that's something you want to avoid, either get there early enough to park up top, or there are some cabs that'll save you the workout and deliver you right up to the area where you wait to scan your ticket. Concessions are about average, and the prices are ok. There are water filling stations for refilling your water bottle so you don't have to keep buying more of those. A museum, a bit of nature to explore on the surrounding grounds, and of course lots of amazing concerts. If you've been before, you already know. If you haven't, get there early and spend some time exploring the whole place. There's a lot to see, and that early arrival might net you some prime parking at the top. read more

What an amazing thing to visit!!!! This is located a few miles outside of Denver and it is something to see for sure! You will be amazed by how well constructed. Be prepared to walk many steps to get all the way to the top (you can park on the other side and not have to) however, the views are amazing. The food is also great once you make it all the way up. The staff members I encountered were extremely knowledgeable about the amphitheater, one of them told me the story about when The Beatles performed. read more

This first trip to CO was planned with the concert and a mini reunion of sorts while staying with friends who live near Ft Collins. Last fall we purchased tickets to see Sammy Hagar & opener Loverboy on a Sunday night. The beauty of this venue is evident in pictures online, and we were excited to see it in person. We read up on what to expect, which is you may take in refillable water bottles, packed food, and stadium cushions. We were confused about all the cars parked along the road leading to the venue. We knew that parking is included in the ticket price. We kept going, thinking there had to be lots ahead. There were, and we parked. There were portapotties set up by the parking lot which came in handy. We walked uphill to the steps. There were a lot of steps. I don't know if it was just me being out of shape, or the altitude. I think it was both, but it was a rough few minutes. The staff were planted at the platforms, checking bags and policing any liquids. I had to dump the water from my small thermos bottle but was told I could refill it once "inside". The next set of staff were scanning tickets. We stopped at the first stand to get a snack and drinks. Once we found our row and seats, we could really see our surroundings and the stage. It is all bench seating and we felt like we had plenty of room. Then came more people and once the show started, I realized they really cram people in here. The show was fantastic; great sound, and the visibility was enhanced by the big screens. We really enjoyed ourselves. We tried to cut out early before the encore and walked out to the right when we should have left the way we came in. We stupidly got lost trying to find our parking lot going the wrong way when we thought we could circle around. We finally made it, but could have just stayed for the end of the show. Next time we will know. read more

The best place to see a concert. It doesn't matter who you see, this is an experience to be had. Unless you want to get a really good leg workout before seeing a show, take the shuttle to thr top. If you park at the south lots, you will want to do this. The other option is taking almost 200 steps to the stage level and then more depending on your seats. They have several water refill stations around the amphitheater so you are allowed to bring in a reusable bottle. read more

Incredible music venue!!! For such a huge place, it was pretty easy to park (for free!), get drinks, & exit . There isnt a bad seat in the house! The acoustics & stage video screens were top notch. Saw the Chainsmokers & they just put on the most energetic show. Everyone was dancing in their seats & having the best time. Saw a show here in August and besides not liking to have to take a shuttle up to the rocks I enjoyed the concert immensely. The seating is pretty basic and uncomfortable but the main attraction here is the ambience you have sitting among the giant red rocks, looking out at the Denver skyline or the evening lights after sunset. Before the show I ordered a slice of NY style pizza with a water. Typically overpriced and pre-cooked but whatever. No issues with staff. Everyone was helpful from parking to concessions, the concert, etc. read more

Visiting Red Rocks has been a pilgrimage for me. It's a check on my bucket list. I travelled 2,000 miles to be here. Came to red rocks for the hiking. Unfortunately not for a concert though i would love to someday. Red rocks area as multiple free hiking trails available. There were beautiful views and the trails were not difficult which was perfect for my group of girl scouts. The trails are dog friendly but they need to be on a leash. Also no climbing the rocks or if caught you are subject to jail time. Was a beautiful area and would love to come back and explore more and maybe someday see a concert at the theater. Looked like it would be a great venue. read more

Kind of a bucket list item to see a concert here. It's so beautiful. We saw Lainey Wilson and she was full of energy, stories, and appreciation for playing in a place so special. We didn't really know what we were doing for parking so we followed the cars off and to the right and ended up in a lot very close to the theatre. That said, the line to get in took another 45 min. Each person has to have a bag checked. They have to be wanded. It took forever. We parked a little after 6 and the concert was just beginning by the time we found our seats a little after 7pm. We were in row 27 and discovered the bathrooms were way up at the top. Lots of steps so plan your errands well. For the most part, I was able to sit in my seat (number on a concrete slab) without feeling too squished, but toward the end, the two girls next to us brought two other people over. We were standing by then so there was enough room but it was pretty cozy. We brought a blanket to sit on which was nice. We dressed in layers but it ended being a nice night. Not as cool as I thought it would get. I'd suggest going early. By the we time we got there it was getting dark already so not a lot of great pics of the vastness of the place. Many many people tailgate so try that if you want to go early. We left a song early which I'm glad we did. I think it would have taken forever to get out. Drinks were around $13 for a huge can. Wine was also sold in cans. The setting is really quite amazing. Nothing like it. So glad we were able to go. read more

I thought that I didn't need to even mention how amazing this place is, everyone knows it right? Well was taking to someone yesterday that did not have a clue as if they never heard. Well it's a bucket list item for most people to attend or even for performers. If you get to perform here it's like "you've made it". If you get to enjoy a concert here "you've made it". Extraordinary place to imagine that it was built between 1936 and 1941. This is only my 2nd concert here but WOW!!! I've come here dozens of times just to see it and that's a whole different experience to see what goes on during the time before concerts in action. But the museum below is just incredible. Timelines of who's performed and when they performed and how many times they've been there. Anybody have any kind of musical significance have performed there. Except for Elvis, Frank Sinatra, or Michael Jackson. But most every significant rock band has. Talk about the acoustics! There's nothing like it as I know. I've listened to bands warm up of music that I don't really care for and they sound amazing. The ideal bucket list is to find your favorite musical artist and see when they're going to perform and make a journey. It's truly unforgettable. Parking was easy getting out from the seats to the highway was 30 minutes with 9600 people exiting at the same time. Really truly an amazing venue. And by the way, the food was pretty damn good. read more

They say it's raining/sunny some where/everyday in Denver... yep! True story! The walk to our seats was beautiful! The theater is literally built in the mountain side. The show started with Brent Cobb, it was pretty on the mountain. The Record Company started to play and the storm started moving in. By the time Whiskey Meyers played their 6/7 song, we were drenched as there is zero cover. Having said that... the sound was phenomenal! Although we have seen both the Record Company and Whiskey Meyers live here in Houston, seeing/hearing them at Red Rock was AMAZING! read more

Absolutely beautiful venue, amazing sound and helpful event staff. I have autoimmune disease and was so thankful for the handicapped option. The staff were mindful for checking handicap permits and communicating support available. It is quite a bit of a hike/incline from the parking lot to the amphitheater area so for those who struggle with mobility be aware. We were here to see Mt. Joy, however there are a lot of concerts reflective of many different genera's that take place throughout the year. The only negative was the amount of pot we smelt being smoked throughout the night. I am extremely sensitive to the smoke and smell that I was sick by the end of the night. That was the main frustrating part. However with the sheer number of people and the fact we are jn CO I am not sure much could have been done about it. One can presume that the demographic of people who enjoy Mt. Joy has a predisposition to enjoying weed (just listen to their sounds ;-)!). With that being said, I do want to return, just maybe for a different concert. ;-). read more

I wasn't there for a concert, just doing a day visit. This would be a great place to get up early, fill a thermos of coffee, and hike up to the top and catch the sunrise. There's a gorgeous view looking East and you can even see Denver's skyline. I'm told there is sunrise yoga too which doesn't surprise me! There is a gift shop and a small Museum related to local musical talent like John Denver. The stair climb is not terribly hard but you may get a bit winded, especially if you are coming into town from a sea level city. It's a gorgeous venue and I hope to catch a concert here in the next year or two. read more

This place is on social media, and it looked so cool, so I had to check it out. I didn't go for a concert, which I heard is a must because the acoustics are great as the sound bounces off the rocks and how the place is shaped. I visited during the daytime when they were setting up, and just seeing it in that atmosphere was great! We started off from the top where the Uber driver took us and worked my way down by the street to the town. It was nice seeing the museum and the small gift shop too. There are trails here, so wear the proper shoes if you want to do these as well. This is a must if you're looking for something unique to do in the area. read more

Red Rocks. If you're unaware, it is renown internationally as an amazing music venue. Stepping into the venue for the first time is a magical feeling that I still remember to this day years later. If you have the opportunity to see your favorite musician play there, just do it. Don't think about it and just go. During the day, when there aren't events going on, people also exercise on the stairs. Parking can be quite a pain there however so make sure to get there early and tailgate with your friends/family or ride share/take a party bus up. Once you're there, it is quite a hike up to the venue itself from the parking lots. Make sure to hydrate! Also, this goes without saying but be safe! Partying up there is fun and all but we all need to look out for each other. The additional altitude also makes it so alcoholic drinks hit the body harder! read more
