So pretty! Denver was extra gorgeous during our last trip. They had some rainy days before our visit, followed by sunny and 75-80F weather during our week there. The pictures don't do any justice to the vibrancy of the reds, greens, and blues; you have to go in person! We came with the intention to hike one of the longer trails, but alas, I slept in a little and didn't arrive until 10AM. By then, it was 75F leading up to an 80F day. I dislike moving in hot weather, so opted for the short Geologic Overlook trail. It was labeled as steep, but wasn't bad, and actually ended up being a great choice because it had intermittent shade. Inspired by the beauty and the not-so-hot feel of the thinner atmosphere, we then did the Trading Post trail. It was mostly flat and not strenuous at all, but not much shade. Parking was a plenty. There's no bad spot to go here. Just show up and explore! read more

Red Rocks Amphitheater is an amazing place to see a concert, but I would advise visiting in the summer. I saw the Chris Tomlin Concert, which was amazing, but the weather did not cooperate. Freezing Rain occurred, even with a pouncho is was extremely hard to remain warm or dry, so halfway through the concert I departed. I am going to see another concert this summer and I am excited. This venue is amazing. An added bonus is there are numerous trails around the amphitheater and a museum. If you arrive early you can walk one of the trails or visit the museum. read more

One of the most beautiful outside venues to watch a concert. You can also come here throughout the day and go hiking. Very picturesque. Also i had some of the best brisket mac and cheese in my life. Everyone was super accommodating with the rain and we even got some ponchos to enjoy the show. read more

Happy Earth Day! This was a great quick trip to the red rocks amphitheater and associated hiking trails. The structures are so unique; I've never seen anything like it. Did all of the trails except the red rocks trail, which took about 2 hours total. There is plentiful parking at many segments of the trails in case you wanted to just come up and snap a couple of pictures. The amphitheater had background music playing, cleaning in preparation for the evening concerts, visitors relaxing, and fitness buffs using the steps for exercise. It's a 20 minute drive from downtown Denver, which was about $20-30 each way through ride sharing. Bring a friend and split the cost or may take mass transit for 1.5 hours or rent a car. This was a bucket list activity for me! We came in July and the concert started at 7. The weather was perfect in my opinion for an outdoor concert. Not too hot, cold, or humid! This amphitheater has a great view of Denver from afar. It is such an incredible vibe being able to watch live performances in such a beautiful location. It is so neat that it is more than just a concert venue but also has a museum. Here you can find the history of every band that has performed here. They have some souvenirs that you can buy for red rock specifically and there are water fountains here that even have the water bottle filling station. The vendors for food and drinks were pretty good as well for a concert venue. I got a cerveza that was themed after red rocks itself! You can also hike here when there are not concerts going on! Tips: Get to the venue early in order to get the best seats, better parking, to use the museum bathrooms instead of waiting in line for the portapotties by the parking lot. Get there early to take some pictures, get your merch, and food and beverages before the show. And then the obvious once they play their encore start running to the car so that you do not get stuck in traffic leaving forever. We drove out almost instantly because of this. read more

This is the coolest concert venue! It's so magical being wedged between giant red rocks while listening to great music. I saw Rebelution here and although they're freaking amazing wherever they play, the concert just hit different at the red rocks. I like that there are places to buy drinks/snacks conveniently located all over the venue. There's also a visitors center and they sell rain ponchos which I ended up needing. At the very top there's a huge area of food and I was excited about the Oreo funnel cake which was sooo good. I'd recommend sharing because I accidentally ate it all and didn't feel so hot the next day haha. There are other events here too! I did yoga on the rocks and it was a little pricey but honestly so worth it. The energy here is indescribable, you have to experience at least once whether you're visiting or a local. read more

Traveled in from California for a Mars Volta concert and I was loterally blown away. Ambiance & Views: The views are incredible here and only add to the shows beauty. This entire amphitheater just feels different than other venues, there is an energy for sure. Parking: I parked on the lower level and getting out seemed like it took forever but to be honest I'm not sure you would be able fo leave quickly while staying for the concerts entirely anyway. Drink/Food: Didn't have any of the food but the drinks were decent enough, typical over expensive concert drinks but what can you do. Tips: Get here early, the earlier the better for sure. Especially if there is some exclusive limited merch or you just want to secure your seats. If you do show up early, you can totally tailgate in the parking lot which is something I did not expect to see or albe allowed. Overall: This place is a top 5 venue in the world and to have checked this off my bucket list is pretty awesome. To have seen Mars Volta here made it even more special. Always nice to be outdoors and cold is better than hot, in this case. As you may know of, lots of trails everywhere. Most of North facing trails still have lots of snow and warm 55F like today, muddy and slippery. Some of the trails are closed due to renovation and also upper south parking lot is also going thru that too. Lots of people at the Amphitheater and still have easy access from the upper parking lots. read more

Ventured to the Red Rocks Amphitheater for a visit. There is so much beauty in the rocks and surrounding nature all around the area. It's absolutely breathtaking! Terrible Experience + Zero Customer Support I bought 2 tickets a month in advance for the Opiuo concert at Red Rocks. When I arrived, only 1 ticket was showing in my AXS account. Thinking there was an error, I purchased a 3rd ticket. Still only 1 ticket showed in my app. I went to the box office, and after about 15 minutes they were able to see all 3 tickets on their computer. I immediately asked for a refund for the 3rd ticket since the mistake was caused by the AXS system glitch. Both Red Rocks and AXS told me they couldn't help and "company policy" prevented any refund. I was charged an extra $87 for a ticket I never needed. Neither Red Rocks nor AXS took any responsibility for the error. Extremely disappointing customer service and a frustrating experience. read more

I love this place, Who doesn't love red rocks. The views are spectacular, The energy is always positive The lines for food are a bit crazy but they manage to get you your items fairly fast! You don't wait any longer than 5 to 7 mins for food or beverages. However just the view and the sound Are beyond my wildest dreams! This place is stellar, unique and beautiful beyond Any words I can come up with! I will say PARKING is a nightmare! Tag where you park your car or you might just loose it! What a great venue!!!!! First time here because it was on my husband's bucket list. We didn't even care who was performing, just wanted to experience a concert here. We arrived early since we didn't really know where to park, and all the workers were super helpful getting us to the best parking lot based on our tickets. It was an uphill hike to check-in, and being a Floridian, I was huffing and puffing. Once in, I was just amazed at the structure. I couldn't wait to hear the music. Once started, the acoustics were amazing! As it got darker, the red rocks lit up were beautiful. Great experience. Tips: Take blankets to sit on, arrive early, ask about the best place to park and don't drink too much or you will miss out on a great experience. read more

They have a museum on grounds with a history of the location and all of the thousands of bands to have graced this stage. All the greats have played here. One of the most stunning amphitheaters that I've ever seen! You don't have to wait to see a show to visit this beauty. In fact, the amphitheater itself is a very popular tourist destination for hiking, walking, and exploring. During the off season, there aren't too many folks out. You can enjoy the views without the huge crowds that you'd typically see during a show. I came here when they were closed for performances. There are several different parking areas, and it's super easy to find convenient parking during the off season. Plus, parking is completely free when there aren't any shows going one. Score! Came here right before sunset and the colors in the sky were so beautiful. Lots of people walk the steps to get exercise here. There's also a short hiking spot in the red rocks right across the street. It also seems to be a popular hangout spot for the locals. I loved being able to view the amazing rock formations that surround this amphitheater. I mean, that's what it's known for. I'm sure it's amazing to watch a performance with that amazing view in the background. Walking around the amphitheater kind of feels like visiting a prestigious vista point in a national park. The scenery here emits that same type of feeling and energy. Except this "vista" is way more accessible. Of course, coming here during a show would be more plausible. But don't let that stop you from making a visit. There's still a lot to explore and it's definitely worth the stop. read more

Went for a concert. Always love Red Rocks. We selected assigned seating as I don't like not having seats. Parked in one of the Loya and people were tailgating before the concerts. Fun to watch them play games and relaxing. We waited in line to get into the venue. Felt bad for the folks who were heavier having to make their way down the steps only to go up the steps again. The drop off lot for handicapped is at the top and the lines to get in snake downwards. So no help to them. Sad to see people abandon their trash as they went in. We got drinks at the top. And made our way down to our seats. She was hungry so we went down to the main food places. Got pizza and fries. They ran out of napkins but luckily I had some. The pizza was pretty good - more of a deep dish style crust. And the fries were decent. The drinks and food are pricey but I guess concert venues have that in common. What we didn't expect or like was that the restrooms have been converted to all gender. I'm ok with gender neutral but having men in the restroom section with me was awkward to say the least - for both sexes. The venue was lovely and we braved off and on rain sprinkles. Fun to dance and listen to the music against the city lights and the lightning show in the distance. We made the climb back to the top to get to our car. The restrooms in the information building are still the same so we went to the restroom there before heading out on our long drive home. Great band, great friend. Awesome night. read more

There isn't much I can say about the infamous Red Rocks Ampitheatre that hasn't already been said. When we went, "Slightly Stoopid" was to be performing there that night. We just stopped by during the day to check it out and sadly we could not take more pictures of the gorgeous views since the band was practicing early below. But we checked out the gift shops and saw the history of red rocks amphitheater which was really cool. Like others have said, there are also trails as well but I didn't get a chance to go on them. There is also free parking. I would LOVE to come back and see a show. It would be a once in a lifetime experience, I think. read more

Unbelievable venue! Insane scenery and not a bad seat in the house. Came for Beauty School Dropout, Bad Suns and All Time Low. First time here and didn't want to risk a hassle with Uber so rode shuttle to/from venue from downtown. A little pricey but convenient as it drops you off at upper north lot. Bonus is making friends along the ride! I was mesmerized by the backdrop and surrounding views of Red Rocks. All three bands were great! All Time Low played new and old and played up right to the 11:00 noise curfew. Such a cool vibe and experience to soak in. Be prepared for LOTS of stairs. I logged 38 floors during the evening. Bathrooms are clean and aplenty so no massive lines. Stairs are involved with every move. Every. Move. A variety of drinks and food are available at venue. Typical concert prices. Red Rocks is the best concert venue-hands down. We saw Duran Duran there on August 28th. No other venue compares. They also have hiking, yoga, exploration. The venue is beautiful to explore without a concert. There is a weather risk there and we experiences several seasons during the concert. Red Rocks is beautiful however, several of us went last night to see Mercy Me in concert. It was the worst concert ever! They neglected to tell us when they were selling us tickets that they were filming a movie. We heard a couple of MercyMe songs which was wonderful and what we came for. The rest of the time was them filming their movie with retakes. And telling the audience what to do. And at least an hour or more of them fundraising for orphans. I came to see a concert! I came to worship jesus! They came to make a movie to make money! They didn't bother telling anybody about it prior to selling them tickets for a concert! I'm so disappointed I will never ever spend another time for that! read more

I feel like perhaps I should save this review for when I actually attend a show here, but even just the visit to run the steps and see the visitor center was beyond 5 stars. This famous venue is worth all the hype in the world and I was amazing by how beautiful it is. It is much more than just the amphitheatre, with tons of trails to hike, views to take in, and vantage points of the rocks. I appreciated the visitor center and was especially smitten with the lists of artists by year. There's tons of history to take in here and I can't recommend exploring this park enough - I seriously cannot wait until I can see a show here. Add it to the bucket list! read more

DO NOT VISIT RED ROCKS ON CONCERT DAYS We recently visited the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. What little we saw at the theatre entrance and surrounding area was beautiful and awe inspiring. Unfortunately, we visited on a Friday afternoon and being it was a concert night, the visitor center, the on-site restaurant and the theatre area were closed as the crew prepared for the concert (concert goers were already tailgating in the parking lot at 3 p.m.). We heard the sound system being tested and wow, a concert here must be incredible. My husband was comfortable driving up to the amphitheatre but I, as the passenger, found this ride to be a small adventure :o). Although the trip up to Red Rocks is not a long drive, I did not expect a narrow winding two lane road (one lane going up and one lane going down) that did not have a shoulder (do not look down if heights scare you), did not have guard rails along parts of the drive (again - do not look down) and had no road signs warning of drops and sharp turns (you do not see them until you get to the turn or drop). Also, I could not imagine driving at night after a concert with no street lights and no reflectors on the few guardrails. We were told later that this was considered a very easy mountain road drive :o( TIP TO AVOID THE WINDING MOUNTAIN ROAD: We later received advice on how to avoid the winding mountain road. If you are physically fit and ready for a good workout, park in the large parking lot (free) at the Trading Post when you turn off Alameda Parkway. There is a wide staircase from the Trading Post parking lot to the theatre - it will be a long hike up to the theatre. Bring water and sunscreen. TOURISM TIP: Couple your visit to Red Rocks with a stop at Dinosaur Ridge that is located right off Alameda Parkway at the turn going towards Red Rocks. read more

Even if you are not attending a concert at this one-of-a-kind amphitheater, the sprawling scenery with craggy red rocks is reason enough to make a visit. The Red Rock Amphitheatre is ~25 minutes outside of Denver. Parking is free and you can park anywhere so long as there is no event. Most visitors park in the Upper North Lot which conveniently leads you to the top of the amphitheater. You'll notice that people are here to exercise, either stepping up the giant steps between rows or running up the stairs on the sides. For some odd reason, a fair amount of people were running or walking the rows by zigzagging through every. Single. One. Not something I would do, would just opt for the stair repeats. I did run some stairs at some point, but really I was here to meander through some trails. We wandered down to the Trading Post Trail. It was a short stroll but opened up to vast scenery and the ever present flat iron of red rocks. We saw a few mule deers, even a buck who I stayed far, far away from. An otherworldly place somehow despite the man made structures here and there. read more

Gorgeous amphitheater!! Free access to the public during the day! You can sit at the amphitheater and watch the people set up. You can walk around the amphitheater. It is definitely a workout so I would recommend wearing walking shoes and bring water! If you are feeling adventurous, there are many hiking trails around that is beautiful! There are multiple parking lots (free!!) and you can control how much you want to walk/explore. There's even a free visitor center at the top with restrooms at the bottom! There's even a small coffee shop! They sell souvenirs (not a lot!) but worth checking out if you want to buy gifts for friends and family! Right next to the visitor center you can visit the free museum! It's small and I think it's worth checking out all the iconic artists that have graced the stage over the years! I've wanted to visit Red Rocks for years and finally had the chance and was able to snag some concert tickets! The venue is known for its breathtaking natural beauty, with stunning red sandstone formations that provide a unique backdrop for live music performances and great acoustics and sound. You can tailgate in the parking lot before and meet other concert goers and get ready to party! Delicious food and drinks on site but pricey as expected for a concert venue. The venue can accommodate up to 10,000 people, but even with a full crowd, the sound remains crystal clear. Tons of parking. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes here because there will be tons of walking depending on where you park at. I must say, this place is a great spot for outdoor concerts. We came here one weekend when there weren't any events. However, we wanted to see how this place holds up. This place is pretty cool. At the amphitheater, it appears ever seat has a decent view of the stage. But of course, the closer to the stage, the better the views. They also have an awesome museum / visitor center inside the establishment. Tons of history in terms of all the variety of performers who have come here. If you love music, this is the place to check out. If you do come here for an event, please keep in mind that driving in and out of the establishment might be a bit crowded and might deal with a large amount of traffic, so please keep that in mind. If you come here, please sure to check the indoor exhibit. Take some time to look over the vase amount of history with all the performers that came here to perform. The venue is very nice. Our experience was not all what we had envisioned for watching a great show here. First of all, Red Rocks is must-visit venue. Extremely beautiful setting and nice venue grounds with awesome acoustics for the 12 member TTB and Margo Price. You gotta see this venue. Now let's talk about the bad. This is a thorough review with lots of information for the first time visitor. Don't proceed unless you are ready. I had done a fair amount of research and questioning of local resources and friends that live in the Denver area and having visited RR. I even sent an email to the admin office and got positive responses. However, when we arrived at the ticket gate, our stadium seats were rejected and placed along the entrance wall. There was no mention in the email response or on the website restricting stadium chairs to 18" wide, just that stadium chairs were allowed as long as they don't have legs. I tried standing my grounds on my position, but both gate guys weren't having any of it. We were skeptical about leaving our chairs on the entrance wall, but when we departed the show, our chairs were still there along with another dozen or so chairs. I bought tickets along the lines of what I was willing to pay and found a pair in row 40 and seats 42/43. Pretty much right in the center of the amphitheater (great viewing spot BTW). Little did I know that the bathrooms are only at the top and only at the bottom of the venue. Now, there are about 80 rows of seats so it's 40 rows up or 40 rows down . . . and then back up if you need to use the bathroom during the show. Due to my wife's current condition, I could've purchased Handicapped tickets at the bottom for a greatly higher price or at the top for reduced fare along with general admission, but initially thought I was getting great seats and left it at that. I have read reviews about the seating arrangements where GA tickets were purchased and difficulty finding any area to view the show. The way I see it is, this reserved seating at Red Rocks is as close to General Admission as any venue's open festival seating event. IOW, people were sitting, standing and walking in just about any open area (e. g. tree planters, fence railing or steps). Our seats were fine except the people directly in front of us were those people that stand for the entire show . . . except for when the band/s are not performing. We had a hard time seeing the monitors and had missed the entire theatrical process (lighting, stage effects or performer's stage antics). BUT, in between bands, they (the ones in front of us) all sat back down and we could see the stage minus the performances. The guy in front of us was at least 18" wide, so why couldn't I bring our chairs? We felt sorry for the gal that was remaining seated next to him. We shared an ok smoked brisket sandwich before walking down as there were several vendors (food truck style) on the top level. We made our way back to the top upon my reluctant early departure because of rain . . . and the before mentioned difficulty seeing anything. When we finally climbed those 40 steps at ~mile-high elevation to the top entrance, where the wind was blowing . . . hard! That handicapped/GA area was miserable. People in wheel chairs and blankets, basically frozen to their chairs just staring at the stage. At least they could see unobstructed to the stage. We then made our way to inside of the museum. That was very cool, but small and rather limited; however, if you are not into music, the museum is plenty large and overwhelming. A lot to take in of the performers that have graced this place. We had paid for "limo" service to and from the front, top entrance gate from our hotel. This guy drove past all of the blockages and just kept getting waves through. The driver was where he said he would be upon our exit so we could sit with him waiting to get out of the rain. That was about the extent of our evening. I was really hoping for a better experience that both of us could have positive memories so late in our life. Perhaps live concerts at this level are not our thing anymore. Dicks read more

The amphitheater is open to the public during the day which is nice for site seeing, picnicking, hiking, working out, or just relaxing. There is a neat little museum inside that is worth checking out which shows the natural and performance history of the park and theater. Before shows you can bring your own food and drink and tailgate in the parking lot. Bringing cold and rain gear would be advised just in case.
