Everything is wrong with this place. We had issues being checked in cuz apparently our reservation was "wiped out of their system". Lori was trying to be helpful and even gave us a discount......walking to our room, we were met with sketchy people in the hallway looking like they were extras in the Thriller music video; accompanied with the overwhelming stench of urine and trash on the floor . Not to mention there were people drinking at the stairs and possibly doing drugs. That should've been the sign to not even bother going into our room. So we proceeded to ignore THOSE red flags; as soon as we go inside our room immediately we see stains on the sheets and there is hair just chilling on the tables stuck with red sticky residue . The closer we inspected the room, you could tell right of the bat; it hasn't been clean since probably ever . You know how I know? There were other peoples belongings still in the room. Late on the night of December 31, a loud argument broke out in the room next to mine. It escalated into what sounded like a domestic violence situation. I could hear a man yelling, a woman crying, and sounds that made me fear for her safety. I immediately called the front desk. Eric answered. I told him there was a domestic violence situation happening next door, that I believed the woman was in danger, and that the police needed to be called. Instead of contacting law enforcement, Eric came upstairs and knocked loudly on the door of the room involved. When it was opened, I heard him tell the couple they needed to quiet down because "the lady next door is going to call the police on you." He said this twice. By doing that, he identified me as the reporting guest and put my safety at risk. I immediately called the front desk back. Brian answered and said Eric was not there yet, apparently because he had not returned to the office after going upstairs. I explained exactly what Eric had done, including that he told the couple I was going to call the police. Brian dismissed it, saying he could not confirm it and tried to argue with me, even though I had heard it myself. He then said he had people in the lobby he needed to assist -- as if I was interrupting -- and tried to end the call. I told him, sarcastically, that I could really see how concerned he and this hotel were about my safety and the safety of other guests. The call was ended. There was no concern for my safety and no follow-up. The argument next door continued. The woman began putting the man's belongings out on the balcony, and he went back and forth collecting them. This went on until after 3:00 a.m. I did not sleep at all that night. Early the next morning, after being awake all night, I left for a commitment. When I returned later that afternoon, I believed the situation was over. It was not. The same couple was still there, the man had returned, and the arguing and packing resumed. I again did not sleep the second night. Later, a staff member told me that many people at this property stay long-term through various community programs that assist with drug recovery and homelessness. After that, I observed large numbers of people going in and out of rooms, far more than would normally be associated with a single reservation. It also appeared to me that some guests with vouchers were allowing others without vouchers to stay in their rooms. The environment felt chaotic and unsafe. I went to the front desk to request a refund. I was told they could not provide one and that I would need to speak with the manager. I specifically asked for the manager's name and the owner's name. I was only given the manager's card and not provided the owner's information. I have called the hotel repeatedly since then and left multiple messages asking for the manager to contact me, but the manager has never returned my calls. I paid for a hotel stay and instead endured two sleepless nights, fear for my safety, and staff who failed to respond appropriately to a serious situation. This is not a safe place to stay. I strongly warn anyone considering this property to look elsewhere. If something goes wrong here, do not expect the staff to protect you or take it seriously. THE OWNER SAID HES OKAY WITH A BAD REVIEW, SO HERE WE GO! I would give this place a negative 100 rating if possible. We stayed here for an event at the NOS Center for New Year's Countdown, checking into our room at 7 PM on December 31st. Unfortunately, the room was infested with roaches of all sizes (photos attached). When we reported the issue to the manager, he seemed entirely unsurprised and offered us a can of bug spray as a solution, which was unacceptable. After leaving the room for the event, we returned at 4 AM to find the situation even worse--roaches were everywhere: on the walls, bed, bathroom, and tub. It was unbearable. We immediately packed our belongings and went to the front desk to request a refund. The manager shockingly responded, "You should've told me earlier you didn't want the room so I could give it to someone else!" Unable to stay another moment, we drove an hour and a half back home in the middle of the night. The manager promised to speak to his "manager" (although he appeared to be the owner) and assured us of a refund in the morning if we left the key with him. When we followed up the next day, he accused us of attempting to scam him, claiming, "A lot of people stay here and try to scam me." This is utterly false and unacceptable. The room was unsanitary, and charging such inflated rates while advertising "clean rooms" is misleading and unethical. While we will address the refund with our bank, the larger issue is the appalling state of this establishment. Potential guests deserve to know the truth about what they are booking. read more

My experience with Red Roof Inn in San Dimas, CA this weekend, because I think people should know about there poor business practices. They cancelled my reservation because I didn't answer my phone while I was driving to the hotel. I arrived in their parking lot at 8:10 pm, they have some ridiculous policy that they call you at 8 pm and if you don't answer the phone, they automatically cancel your reservation. Keep in mind that I had already called them at 4 pm that day and confirmed my stay there. They also bill your stay before you've even arrived. The woman on the front desk couldn't have been more un-caring that I was left at 8 pm without a place to stay. It was a very busy weekend with the Grand National Roadster Show in town and rooms were at a premium. I got very lucky and was able to get a room at the Motel 6. The desk clerk there asked if I had a reservation, I said no, but when I told her what happened, she got me a room, and said this happens all the time at Red Roof Inn. I was told by two other guys at the desk waiting, that Red Roof Inn had pulled the same stunt on them in the past. One of them said what they're doing is cancelling a reserved room at a lower rate and selling it for a higher price to someone who is deserate for a room. I booked the room on Expedia, so I let Expedia know what they did to me. I've also contacted Red Roof Inn's corporate office and complained about them leaving me stranded. The staff are good to go. This review is based on my overnight stay 7/15/21. This place is in a dark corner of San Dimas. Being in that location, there are a lot of people that add to the caution to being aware of your surroundings. When we drove in, there was a LA County Sheriff's deputy driving out. I parked in the handicap stall across FDR on the reception area and checked in. Was greeted by security which wasn't there on my visit from two years ago. This tells me that the hotel has taken a turn for the worst. After checking in, my wife and I took our luggage up to the second floor via the elevator. The place is in need for a major cleaning as there were multiple stains all over the elevator walls and floor. The stairs weren't an option either as they were taped off. Walking across the pedestrian bridge, you can see quite a bit of what appear to be abandoned vehicles in the parking lot. We reach the end of the bridge and there are multiple shady looking guests who open and slam their doors as we walk by to our room. [Apparently, there are drug deals that occur here and users who pay for extended stays.] Once in our room, we double lock the door and block the handle to prevent someone from breaking in. The credenza appliance plugs don't work well. Electric wall chargers were excessively loose. There were paint stains on our covers. I take a shower the following morning and notice red spots on my towels. Avoid this part of San Dimas. There are better and safer places to stay for a few $ more. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE (MAJOR HEALTH HAZARDS) please whatever you do find another hotel... where do I begin??? My boyfriend and I stayed here from 12/26/2023-12/30/2023. First off prostitutes galore here. Didn't think the pictures looked too bad and they allow one small pet. On the first night I noticed the floor boards coming apart and first thought the room was overall decent. I noticed tho It wasn't too clean I could tell the phone hadn't been wiped down in a while. On one of the last nights staying here I flipped my pillow over and noticed blood drops. I instantly felt disgusted and jumped off the bed. It was on the pillow case as well as the sheets. I had been sleeping in a bed with blood this whole time. We then had to replace the dirty sheets ourselves. The bed was absolutely DISGUSTING! Red and brown stains all over the mattress. After changing the sheets we noticed the "clean" ones they gave us has a black sticky mark on it. It really is messed up that our housekeeper Angela most likely didn't wash our pillow cases, sheets, and blankets. I also paid 116 dollars for the last night because of the holidays and you're telling me I wasn't even given a decently cleaned room?!?!? I ended up having to spend almost a week communicating with guest services just for them to give me a $30 hospitality refund. I SPENT OVER 400 DOLLARS HERE! More than $400 for a filthy room that they had to put out of service. The light fixture started to pool some water together because it had started raining. Due to the blood, leaky roof, and warped floor boards they marked our room as out of service. Is this a Ritz Carlton? No. But for a brief, overnight stay, the Red Roof Inn San Dimas made for a very affordable location without feeling "cheap". It looks as though this may also serve as a longer-stay motel, judging by the full kitchenette. The room was clean with clean towels provided. We were told that coffee/tea is available in the lobby 24/7. The beds were firm (I actually like that) though I would have liked more pillows. Mine was a brief overnighter as I came for a concert at the Fair nearby, but I was comfortable with the potential of this location for a longer stay. A few "eh"s: 1) I had an issue with making a reservation online. It was rectified in person, but a little surprised that their online service is lacking in ability. 2) We got back from the evening's events around 11:30, and the parking area near our room was completely full. This is not the worst of fate because there is parking "in front" of the property, but the property was a little more dark than comfortable. Also, there are around 5 or so handicapped spots near the interior rooms, and I have to wonder if all the cars parked in those spots at night were actually handicapped. Could be - but seemed a little questionable by the way some were parked in that handicapped side loading area each spot has. 3) WiFi: I was given a code that ended up not working. Being in the room less than a total of 12 hours- mostly sleeping - did not make it worth trying to figure out, but I did call the front desk after midnight to try - and though she said she would reset it, I just don't know if there was a problem or if she never did. We had planned to have stayed there on the 14th to the 15th of February but when we arrived there on the 14th, the gentleman that was there had told us that we booked incorrect which was a shock to us but had told us if we wanted to still book a room with the hotel, he gave us instructions to cancel our reservation with booking.com which is how we booked incorrect the first place so we can get our money bank since we NEVER CHECKED IN and booked thru the hotel as I would get our money back later, mind you I have a WITNESS which was my fiancé who also took note of it. Of course we paid for the room out of pocket because of how helpful he was. I called booking.com and explained to them what happened in which they agreed to do if the property approves the refund. See how there's a confusion... regardless I went thru with it because I felt comfort knowing I was being helped. The next morning on the 15th as I left the hotel property and checked out, I spoke to a young lady and asked if booking.com ever reached out in which they said they didn't so I called booking.com to see what was going on and they said that the hotel hasn't approved it yet and went ahead and called them, soon after they had informed me that the property manager doesn't want to approve it and that I should call them to see as to why. I did and spoke to a manager named JACKIE... once I had reached out and presented myself, she was Sooo unprofessional and YELLED at me about how booking.com didn't give her a cancellation number in order for her to approve, and accused me of never canceling it in which I HAVE THE EMAIL STATING I DID CANCEL and when I told her the number she became silent quick. She then proceeded to say that booking.com needs to refund it to me but booking.com can't do it due to the fact she wouldn't approve it. I never yelled at her and had to raise my voice to get her attention due to the fact, she was YELLING SO LOUDLY. She could've talked to me calmly and explained it to me AND instead was VERY unprofessional. I questioned it myself whether I would get the refund but the gentleman had told us that day if we did it correctly and booking.com requests it, that I would be good, if this was the case I would've gone somewhere else regardless of how DIRTY the hotel room was. And I mean dirty... there was stains inside the sheets, the floor was sticky, each room we checked reeked of cigarettes, the bathroom.. well I'll stop there. If I were you, find somewhere else to go so you don't go through the same experience as me but if you do, find a way to record everything so you aren't having to go back and forth with the situation. Proceed with caution and good luck. And word of advice to the corporation, speak to your managers about how to speak professionally to their customers. I had reservations for 6 days . On the fourth day I went to the office to pay the remaining 3 days. It was about 10:40 and the check out time was 11:00. I was informed that I had been Red flagged and they refused to honor my reservation for the remainder of the 6 days. I was told it's because of someone I had in my room the previous day. I didn't violate any policy and there were no complaints from other guests. It was the middle of the day and the people in question were already on the hotel property walking past my room. I am local to San Dimas and know many people in the area. The two gentlemen walking by were old school mates. It was hot outside so I invited them in. We talked for about 30 and they left. It seems I was out of my room because the manager has a personal issue with one of the gentlemen. They could have informed me the previous day I would not be allowed to rent the next day. That would have given me time to make other arrangements. I waited for the manager to arrive to get an explanation and contest such an arbitrary decision. My family and I stayed at the Red Roof Inn recently. We stayed in one of their extended stay rooms which had a refrigerator, a one pan electric stove and a large microwave. All of these amenities worked so nicely. This was our first time staying here and I must say, I grew up in the customer service industry, and the staff at this hotel are amazing. Specifically, Shelley and Sabrina. These two women are above and beyond. Both women never once hesitated when I asked for a clean towel, or to borrow the broom to sweep the floor. These two are all about "just say yes." They don't hesitate and they don't tell you yes and end their sentences with a "but." I would really like to commend the two of them for working long hours, alone, and still smiling. Nowadays, the service industry needs more devoted workers like Shelley and Sabrina. Thank you ladies for treating my family and I with courteousness and respect. We will be back for sure and I hope you are still there to help us. read more

When we ask the front desk why the room hasn't been cleaned, it's always a different story. "We don't clean your room once a week", "We clean every Friday", "Oh, we are going to clean your room today". This is not how loyal customers should be treated! My family has spend THOUSANDS of dollars on this hotel. It's ridiculous. Not to mention, when the room isn't cleaned, we don't get clean towels or toilet paper. So I based our stay here on TripAdvisor ratings and made the mistake of not consulting Yelp as well. That was my fault and one I will NOT make again. My other mistake was not just shelling out for an extra 5 - 10 per night and getting Motel 6 etc, again a mistake I will NOT make again. I will start with the good: 1. There were no roaches, bedbugs, or mold...... Yeah that's it. Everything else, from beginning to end. From top to bottom was top three of the single worst hotel experiences of my life, and I've stayed in some of the sketchiest motels from southern to northern California and from coast to coast. Let's start with check in: I specifically paid a slightly higher rate to be able to reserve without a deposit. When I got there, I was charged a 50.00 deposit and required to pay the entire cost of the room up front... Not a hold for x amount or just a deposit, no no.... Actually, PAY the entire cost of my stay up front. Something that I have never had to do in my entire life. Further insult at check in was the "staff" acting as though I was an interruption on their day and not like someone who had just shelled out nearly 800.00 to them! The kid behind the counter could barely get the marbles out of his mouth enough to form entire sentences. The room... Yeah about that. Two full beds crammed into a room with barely enough space between them to walk sideways. The AC/Heater 4" away from one of the beds to ensure who ever sleeps on that bed will either freeze or roast regardless of what you do. The beds and pillows are the WORST motel provided I've slept on in my life. Mine, my girl, and our granddaughters back and neck were sore every day the entire week we were there. There is graffiti on the walls of the bathroom, the water pressure was about what I'd get from a watering can being held over my head. There were barely patched sections of bathroom wall. The hair dryer was so poorly positioned that it needed to be removed from the wall before it could be plugged in and used. The TV kept losing its connection, the coffee pot was an absurd imitation of something trying to pretend to be a coffee pot, and the door keys randomly stopped working while sitting on the counter. House keeping gets irritated and will refuse to acknowledge you if you leave your do not disturb on the door for more than 24 hours. My girlfriend was practically thrown a single roll of toilet paper after being asked which room she was in as she is STANDING IN THE DOOR OF THE ROOM! I was asked a couple days later which room I was in after going to the front desk to get toilet paper, after having called and being told that at 5 pm housekeeping couldn't be bothered so I'd have to come and get it myself. One would think that's enough. However, like Billy Mays said, "but wait, there's more!" Despite being a national chain, this particular location is less a motel and more a flop house/low income housing. Drug dealers and gang members in the parking lot at all hours, random semi homeless people picking through the garbage cans, people smoking weed out in front of their rooms so that the rest of us can enjoy the stench, the ice machine that is constantly leaking gallons of water, broken stairs, railing with wood rot, the two cars I saw with windows smashed out overnight, the panic that my car would be next. Did I mention the gang members and drug dealers?? My advice is to avoid this place at all cost unless you really want to get the feeling of paying for the privilege of holding up in a squatter's community, and if that's your thing then more power to you. However, if it's not and you plan on staying more than 8 hours so you're not sleeping in your car. Then I suggest you find the extra ten bucks a night in your budget to stay somewhere else. I left another hotel I'd stayed in two nights before where there was no elevator and no help for a woman alone with a joint condition lugging numerous boxes up two flights of stairs. What a difference when I came to the Red Roof Inn. I really wished I'd stayed here all three nights and definitely will make it my choice when in California again. I chose this hotel because my friend was supposed to be joining me, but she ended up flying in a day later. The hotels were prepaid so I did the switch anyway and was glad I did. The previous hotel had very spotty wifi, a tolerable bed and I had to lug all my boxes of book and promo items up two flights of steps (drove from Ontario to California for a book signing). When I came to check in, I was two hours early, but they let me check in early. I let them know my friend wasn't coming in case they needed the room with two beds for others and they gave me a great king bed room at no additional cost. I explained that my knee was hurt and why I needed a first-floor room or elevator and they gave me one just around the corner from my car. Getting all my stuff inside was so much easier. They did everything they could to accommodate me. I unloaded and was off to Six Flags again. When I got back, that bed was so comfortable after the less comfy one from before. Great pillows and lots of them. Reading lights on the wall over each side of the bed. Awesome tv. Great wifi and I needed that being from Canada and having trouble with my roaming and carrier in the States. I stopped and got cream to put in the fridge so I could make coffee in the room the next morning, and it was really good coffee. There was a luggage stand again for easy access to suitcase contents. Nice bathroom and the whole room was just so clean and comfortable. Loved the tv (I'm a tv sleeper), and the A/C kept the room nice and cool. The staff were all so nice and the bed so comfortable. The hotel was quiet and I felt safe on the property. I would definitely stay here again! read more

This very difficult to find motel has a lot of "character". Uh.. I was put in one of the "remodeled rooms". Sounds good to me! Turns out, Red Roof Inn defines "remodel" by giving a space new floors and drawers. Because that is what it had. Nice floors, nice drawers, and decent sink counter space. Otherwise, it's a dump. But I've experienced worse, I'd return - in a real pinch. Remodeled area and not remodeled area of this place are like two different planets- former felt safe, latter is like 'across the tracks' creepy-people-land. PROS: New floors (in the "remodeled rooms") New drawers (in the "remodeled rooms") Pet friendly Bathroom counters are spacious Nice shady landscaped area & pool Mini fridge & micro CONS: Decades old, cigarette burned bedspread was appalling (in non-smoking room) Area rug was filthy and cheap (why put that over the attractive new floors??) Heater/AC unit explosively loud 'Hot' water only became warm Damaged and very dirty walls & doors Hot tub water was cloudy (ew..)
