Red roof plus failed to honor my 2 days reservation due to Comcast being down and they have refused to refund the $222 charge on my credit card used to reserve the room on hotel.com. I received a message from the general manager apologizing fir the inconvenience which included verbal abuse from the front desk clerk at 11:30 PM yet no refund after requesting one. While in the lobby a family of 5 was requesting a refund saying their room wasn't cleaned and like me they were also ignored for the half hour time I was in the lobby waiting to be registered. How hard is it to simply say the Internet is down so sorry, we can't honor your reservation? Instead, when finally asked about the delay the front desk clerk mistreated us and was very nasty. I booked a room at the nearby Delta and was checked in in only a couple of minutes so I'm unsure about red roofs explanation which certainly failed to address the surliness if the front desk clerk who obviously needed to communicate his connectivity issues instead of having us stand there for thirty minutes. Don't Do It! There are more reasonable places and actors. Feel free to message me for the video. REFUND MY MONEY! Hypothetically a cancellation on my part would only entitle your to one day's rental but that wasn't the case. Insult to injury is sending me a message asking how was my stay :/ Edit: I see Arpit D. left a 5 star review on YELP. He is the general manager. Believe the other reviews posted here. Edit 8/19: This hotel after repeated requests refused to remove their $222 charge for a hotel reservation which they did not honor supposedly due to their Internet being down although my booking online at the nearby Delta Marriott was honored and I was checked-in only minutes after my arrival. I strongly encourage you NOT to stay here. I can understand internet glitches, but their refusal to reverse the credit card charges, info they obtained through simply reserving the room after I chose to pay at the premises leads me to believe contrary to what was said in their email they are not at all apologetic and eating more of my time disputing this bogus charge to my credit card further indicates and proves their extremely poor customer service to this would-be patron who never was rented a room. Read the reviews and believe them! This hotel is a disgrace to the Red Roof name.

You know how people say "I would give it negative stars if I could"? Holy smokes... I would give it…read moreone negative star for every second that I had to stay here. Where to start: The front desk was awful. You usually just stand there and wait for someone to come to the empty front desk. Even then, the person you see tends to operate as though you're annoying them or preventing them from doing something they really want to do. The lady gave us our keys and didn't bother to tell us where the elevator was, how to get to the room, where the pool is, or where the gym is. Must have overlooked it. The first room I had seemed to be occupied or not ready, based on the trash piled outside, my key not working, and noises I heard inside. The front desk then gave me a second room that had the latch on the door busted and completely missing AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK. I hated having to complain yet again, but basic security, at a minimum, should be there. The young lady finally "upgraded" me to a more spacious suite. The suite was fine, but the bathroom is disgusting, stained, and smelled bad. Not only that, I could hear the people in the other rooms arguing as well as the people outside, and kids crying from another room. Nightmarish. I honestly can't emphasize how badly I wish I had never stayed here, nor how very much you should stay away, and the certainty with which I will never stay here again.

After getting help to get out I reported the incident and they took the report refusing to give me a copy. I asked for a rubber mat to insure that those staying with me would not experience the same fate. They NEVER RESONDED. I needed to go to the ER and came back with a sling. I was not asked by anyone in the front desk, or higher if I was okay or asked if I needed anything. It was as if nothing ever happened. I walked over to housekeeping and asked them for a rubber mat for the tub. They said the hotel DIDN'T HAVE ANY. We needed to take TOWEL BATHS each day to avoid the hazard. When I got home I made several calls to inquire about liability information. I finally got a number they assured me could help me, but all I could get was a message machine and no one returned my call. We were also on the first floor and EACH NIGHT AROUND MIDNIGHT there was yelling and fighting in the hall and no one at the front desk, not far away, brought anything to order or called the police. This experience was the worst case of not caring about the safety of their customers, no concern for the customer and neglect of the customers forget about hospitality and customer service! Needless to say, I would NEVER recommend the Holiday Inn Express Suites Woodbridge by HIG in Avenel, NJ.

They had to provide us two fans, and then eventually move us to two different rooms on the fourth floor because the rooms were not cooling down at all. When we finally got a room that had working AC, the internet was not working, so we couldn't watch anything on the TV. The towels in the first room we were checked in had stains on it. When we asked for more toilet paper, none came - we had to go to front desk to get it. There were flies in two of the tree rooms they transferred us to. Flies are not attracted to clean surfaces, so something unclean is attracting the flies. The doors wouldn't lock. You had to slam it hard, if not, a small push will open your door, no key needed. And this is true of all three rooms they put us in. That is a serious security issue! Guests who leave their room and hear the door close may leave under the assumption their stuff is safe. The maintenance guy who didn't fix our AC accused us of having too many people in our room...said he saw 8 people in the room, we had 4. When we found out what he accused us of, we asked for the manager's contact information. The manager was not there, so the staff wrote down his email address. A quick Google search showed that the email address the front desk gave us was not right. When I emailed the manager, I copied corporate. Corporate Guest Services did apologize for what we endured, but not the manager. The lack of response from the property manager reflects poorly on the Hilton brand and explains the lack of professionalism from the staff. This by far is the worst Hampton Inn I have ever stayed in (and I have stayed in plenty across the US), and I will make sure to post this on every review platform. UPDATE SEP 10, 2026: The manager emailed me on 8/20/2026 and asked for my contact information so he can speak with me directly about our stay. I replied the same day with my contact info. It has been three weeks and no call-back. Speaks VOLUMES to the type of manager he is that it is taking weeks to call back a customer (if he truly intended to call back). To the credit of the Hilton Honors brand, they did reward me some points to my account by way of apology for the maltreatment and inconvenience.

Check-in was smooth, although the staff member who assisted me was neither rude nor particularly welcoming. The room itself was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. I also appreciated being able to connect YouTube to the TV, which was a nice touch. The complimentary breakfast was basic but well-maintained. There were bagels, juice, coffee, and tea, and everything was kept stocked and clean throughout breakfast. Self-parking was included, which is definitely a plus. There is also a microwave available near the front desk, which is convenient if you need to warm up food. Thankfully, the hot water was clear (not brown) which I have unfortunately encountered at other hotels. Overall, I would say this hotel is acceptable if you're looking for a budget-friendly place to stay and don't mind the location. However, the biggest issue for me was the location. The hotel is literally right behind a waste-to-energy and solid waste disposal plant. Had I known this beforehand, I would not have booked this hotel. When I looked at the area on Google Maps, the property behind the hotel appeared to be a green lot, which was very misleading compared with what is actually there. While I didn't have major issues with the hotel itself, the surrounding location is enough that I personally would not stay here again. I think future guests should be aware of this before booking so they can make an informed decision. Pros: Clean room, comfortable bed, working A/C, complimentary breakfast, self-parking, microwave available, YouTube connectivity on the TV, clear hot water. Cons: Unwelcoming check-in experience and, most importantly, the hotel's immediate proximity to a waste-to-energy/solid waste disposal facility. Overall: A reasonable budget hotel, but the location is a significant dealbreaker for me.

It's probably the largest hotel in the area and was hosting a film industry convention while I was there. I have stayed at this hotel a few times before and my rating improved slightly this time, especially given they gave me a courtesy upgrade owing to a shortage of King bed rooms which I reserved, but there are several issues that keep the rating nearly the same. 1. Reservations are still executed centrally via Marriott and the wait time could be a moment, but was easier to navigate through the prompts this time. Staff are friendly and efficient at the front desk when one checks in and out. 2. The hotel lacks amenities of a hotel this size. It does have a pool, but has no shop evident where one could buy a charger, toothbrush or aspirin if one forgot to bring the like. 3. The upgraded King Suite had no microwave or refrigerator. The dark and smooth tile on the bathroom floor can become dangerously slippery if the shower leaks water running across that floor and the towel laid down on the floor does not catch all the runoff. You may not see the water runoff on the dark tile and could lose your footing. Be careful. The toilet paper could benefit from better placement, making it less awkward to reach. You will hunt around for light switches on the walls and next to your bed the first time entering the dark room. The televisions and room a/c unit worked well, but the a/c heating unit was a bit noisy. 4. At well over two hundred dollars a night for a King room, there is no breakfast voucher for the cafe on the ground level to the right of the entrance. The cafe has a very basic menu and they serve your order as if it's to go in a bag, with boxes inside. If you specify that you are eating in your room, that would be fine. However, it's wasteful of paper and cardboard when a plate would suffice and be easier from which to eat. As a captive audience, it's the only thing immediately within reach. A few scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, twin pancakes and small coffee is nineteen bucks. Not bad, but could and would be better if competitive options were immediately available. This hotel benefits from a lack of real competition in the immediate area. The price points are a bit high for what you get and that is a consequence of a lack of real competition in the area, inflation notwithstanding. The friendly and respectful staff deserve your attention. The people who work here from the front desk to housekeeping have been great each time. 3.2 stars
