The more I think the more negative I get so hear me out: - Sign upon entering was essentially non existent at first. Place has a zoo of a parking lot. The receptionist told us some of the doors weren't working and at first didn't even care where we parked. She FINALLY was like "yeah I guess this door is closer" The room upon first looks was okay. Bathroom was clean. The TV was a pain though. It's a new "smart" TV that would prefer paid movies over live TV. Biggest complaint I guess was the bed. Just HARD and when I woke up it felt like I had spent a night on a cot (lower back pains). Pillows were flat. The electrical outlet was unplugged when we arrived. The pool was there but it looked...foggy :/ had a tough time with the door openers/keycard overall. Even the bathroom door wanted to stay closed!! No breakfast. The building (exterior?) is old or has been through some floods because I think I saw mold?? (Pics). As I said they DID the housekeeping and that was okay/decent. But there still needs to be more updating or they might need to redo an old building.

    Roaches!!!

We thought it was cute until we continuously kept finding roaches crawling on the floor, the wall and the desks! Awful and disgusting experience and will be getting a full refund!

    Dirty bathroom

The bed was awful. Most uncomfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel. Lumpy pillows that smelled awful. The heat made this clicking noise all night. The pool was closed. The room is dirty and smelled awful. The door was very difficult to get open, only one of the cards worked. I didn't get any sleep. Never again.

The rooms are beautiful and identical.

There is no pool any longer!! What makes this a "Red Roof Plus " ? There is only billiards and video games. Bring your quarters!

The room was clean enough. The key cards didn't always work, especially to get into the building. No elevator.

Lots of charming details and touches like the Afternoon Tea from 2:30 - 5:00 pm with cookies and small dessert bars for hotel guests or pay a fee for visitors. Pros: - The carafe of ice water in the room and Biscoff cookies - very much appreciated - Elevator or stairs to the 2nd floor where the rooms were located. Bookshelf of books. - Keurig coffee / tea on the 2nd floor for 24 hours coffee/tea service plus business center with computer and printer. - Room 143 Cora Carlisle on the 2nd floor - lovely, spacious, and comfortable - Plenty of hot water and huge bath towels - Bed was comfortable and room was quiet - Champney's margarita flight was quite good and big enough to share. - Continental breakfast included - muffin, melon sliced fruit, plain yogurt, coffee - The porch with chairs was very nice to sit outside and there was a sitting area with games and a puzzle in the lobby - Air conditioning and heat - room was comfortable - Parking in front of the hotel Cons: - The sink faucet/taps and shower tap metal was a bit discolored with the gold tone worn away. Everything worked fine though. - The string to lower the blinds next to the toilet was non-existent. - Additional housekeeping gratuity added to the bill - The Continental breakfast could have been improved with more fruit (other than cantaloupe and green melon), hard boiled egg. There wasn't a lot of food put out and the coffee was a bit watery. - Slight musty smell downstairs made me cough but rooms were fine. Overall, Deerfield was a charming, historic hotel and I would stay again and come on a Wednesday - Saturday to visit historic Deerfield buildings.

Always looking after you without overdoing it. Menu is seasonal particularly the produce. The protein offerings only change about twice a year. My wife had the rack of lamb and I had the duck. From the moment you walk in you are treated with warm hospitality by the owners Judy & Phil along with their staff. Something that stands out is the staff have been the same, which speaks for the owners. I can't say enough about how friendly, accommodating, and welcoming, everyone. We stayed in the main building, in rooms 17, 15, 12 & 14 all have cozy accommodations that are spacious and very clean. Room 15 was a two-room suite with a gas fireplace that we enjoyed in the evening. Room 14 also has a gas fireplaced that we enjoyed. Our favorite room is 12 on the first floor with a private balcony. All the rooms have very comfortable beds, and each room has a small refrigerator. Each of these rooms all had a view of the mountains in the background. Breakfast is included and is served in the lovely dining room. Thersa is very friendly and always ensures we have everything. Breakfast starts with fresh baked muffins and fruit. There is always a selection for breakfast from eggs, omelets and either French toast, waffles or pancakes. I have enjoyed different omelets, the Cinnamon French toast, waffles w/strawberries and blueberry pancakes served with warm maple syrup that comes from a local farm. In the afternoon you can relax by the fireplace in the parlor and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a variety of fresh baked cookies that are set up for your enjoyment. I highly recommend having dinner in the dining room that is right on the premises at least one night during your stay. The chef prepares great meals, and the menu has a very nice selection. Service has always been exceptional. There is a nice selection of wine, beer and specialty cocktails to choose from. I would highly recommend taking a ride to the "Vermont Country Store" during your stay. The store brought us back to our childhood with the nostalgic toys, rows of penny candy and the original tins of "Charlie chips and much more! Judy and Phil, along with all their staff, are very kind and caring. Thank you all very much for a lovely stay. See you on our next stay. Kathy & Ray Milford, CT
