I highly recommend breakfast at Red Rooster. It has a very warm and cozy atmosphere. Our server, Megan, was absolutely superb! She had a lot of tables to take care and didn't miss a beat. Her recommendations were spot on! My daughter had the chicken and waffles and said they were the best she's ever had. I ordered the pancakes, eggs and red rooster hash brown casserole off the ala carte menu. The pancakes were huge but thoroughly cooked, the scrambled eggs were creamy - not overdone, and the hash brown casserole was absolutely delicious. Our entire experience from the host, the servers, the cooks and the food runners was perfect! The absolute best shrimp and grits I've ever had, I spoke with the owner, who was actually bussing tables at the time, He told the story about the shrimp & grits being a new item added to the menu during the take out period of the Covid pandemic. It became an instant hit, when the pandemic was over they had to make it a regular menu item otherwise customers would just hang up the phone since it was no longer on the menu. Enjoyed a nice breakfast here on our way out to the islands. Food was well priced and portioned. Regular coffee was so so but the wife had a honey latte that was very tasty. Decided to take a side trip into Beaufort on the way to Charleston. Was a really long wait because I think they are operating at more like 50%. Said owner was being very cautious. Shrimp and grits were solid the grits were loose like I like them. Hubby said his chicken and waffles with the maple gravy was excellent. Tomato soup was perfectly acceptable. My daughter & I stopped by for breakfast and sat out on the patio. Melany was our server and so sweet & professional! The vanilla latte was yummy. I tried the hashbrown casserole with my 2 eggs & toast. I didn't like the consistency of it at all. I pictured the hashbrowns being crispy in the casserole, but the whole thing was very mushy, especially with the thick layer of cheese added & it all being cramped up in a little cauldron serving bowl. I didn't hate it, but won't order it again. My daughter had the sunrise surprise and the grits were also served in a little cauldron . I was introduced to this place while I was dating my husband. I was visiting him one day in Savannah, GA and we needed to travel to SC to get his car serviced. We decided to have breakfast while we waited. I noticed the decor was very cozy and the staff was very friendly. This is the type of place where you can have a casual, yet formal date night with that special person. When our water was served to us in Mason jars, I knew this food was about to slap! And did it ever! The hash brown casserole is a must have! It doesn't matter what I order, there will always be some on the side! Hubby had the breakfast burritos which were well seasoned. The passion fruit mimosa is also a requirement. It gave me just the right buzz but didn't make my head too heavy. I cannot find one bad dish here. You will not be disappointed. Since I've located to GA, this is now a required cuisine as we try to get here at least once a month. This place will always be a favorite of mine. read more

I am one person, and between the time I took to order, the server bringing the food, and the server bringing the check my interaction with her was less than a minute. When I got the check it gave a few different tip percentage recommendations. The lowest was 20% and that was considered "good service". First of all that's bullshit, and I'm tired of restaurants guilt tripping customers into tipping more to make up for the restaurant's shitty wages in order to provide their employees with a livable wage. Now I still tipped over 20% because I can but this bullshit has to stop. It's not the customers responsibility, our tip is for service that is above average. What I received was absolutely average. I've come to Red Rooster multiple times and it never disappoints. During the time of COVID you must be patient with wait times. I believe they are still spacing out and not sitting to capacity. I arrived at peak hour around 12:00 and was told there would be a wait (I can't remember the exact time but the timeframe was 20-30 minutes). The meal was delicious as always. I ordered the French toast breakfast. It's so much food that you'll have enough to bring some home. I also ordered a Snickerdoodle Latte- definitely recommended if you like fancy lattes. It's not on the menu but the waitress mentioned it when I asked about coffee. Now I gave four stars because there could be some improvements and suggestions. During peak times make sure there are napkins when washing hands and bathroom toilet paper. The first time I went to the bathroom, no napkins to dry hands. Second time, there was no toilet paper in the stall I went too (thank goodness I checked the TP before going so I left that stall and went to the next one). The bathroom should be checked at least once an hour. Oh, the trash bin under the counter was overflowing. Now I'd say, don't leave this on servers or cooks. Management can definitely do this too. Lastly, now that's it's summertime and we live in Beaufort where the heat and humidity is brutal, it would be wise to invest in some industrial size fans for the outside seating. Not only will it keep customers cool, but it'll keep the flies away. I'd definitely recommend checking this restaurant out if you are in town for recruit graduations or just visiting our charming town. read more

The entire experience was disappointing. The service was slow, they seemed very short-staffed. It was New Year's Day, but if you're short-staffed, warn people. Don't bring out cold food, and then refuse to discount or comp it simply because the person didn't send it back (it took 40 mins to get our food in the first place-who would risk having it remade?!). Seriously. They actually told us sending it back gets a half off discount, but if you don't, you're paying full price (and she didn't even eat a whole egg's worth of the sunrise plate). The two we went with had been there a few times before, and they are, I quote, "never coming here again." If you go, ask if they're short-staffed. If yes, run away. The s'mores latte was amazing, the mimosa flight was good-but def didn't make up for a 90+ minute breakfast turnaround with room temperature food. read more

Two big pros, two big cons. I'll start with the bad... the ambiance sucks and gives me chain vibes even though it's not. I'm a big fan of charcter and cozy joints with their own unique thing going on, and this place looks like a 60 year old white lady went buckwild with cheap rooster decor. I went to the bathroom and it was nasty. It stunk like sewage and had one flickering light barely hanging on by a thread. All but one toilet was clogged the heck up. Depsite all of that, I am still giving four stars because our food was that dang good. I had some absolutely scrumptious tomato soup with a yummy grilled cheese, and the shrimp and grits was absolutely TO DIE FOR!!! I still think about it. Super flavorful and fresh and just amazing in every way. Also that dang jalepeno cornbread knocked my freaking socks off and we made sure to order more. Our server was an absolute angel. So basically go in with low expectations and hopefully you'll be as wowed as we were. read more
