Check in was quick and friendly, she answered all our questions, and pointed us towards our room. This was clearly an older motel that was renovated, but you really can't tell. My kids loved the retro motel vibe. Lots to do there including yard games, fire pits, hot tub, pool, and bikes to use. The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom was large with boiling hot water (which I love haha!). They also have soap, shampoo, body wash, steamer, blow dryer etc. Our TV was a bit wonky, but worked the second day we were there. It was very quiet while we were there with lots of families. Located near lots of great restaurants, close to town, and close to a CVS/Walgreens. Awesome little find!

We have always visited Bayside during the winter months, so we've never had the opportunity to swim in the outdoor pool, but during our recent visit I took a walk around the property and the outdoor pool looks great as well. There are also two fire pits outdoors with several comfortable Adirondack chairs overlooking a wetlands area with a view of an osprey nest. S'mores kits are available to purchase for use at the fire pits. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the free breakfast includes a great variety of breads and cereals, several hot items such as eggs, sausage, waffles, as well as self service waffle and pancake machines. Love the variety of coffee options and flavored creamers. The small hotel pub is actually pretty cool as well with lots of dollar bills hanging from the ceiling and tacked to the walls. The story is that guests have written their names on the bills and have fun finding them on return visits to the hotel. The only downside to the Bayside from my perspective is that the pool is very popular with children and the pool can be very crowded. Bayside has implemented some pool rules (no balls, no glass, no floats) and does not allow children in the hot tub. They also have reserved 10-11 PM as adult only time in the pool. They assured us we'd be a top priority. Instead, we were put in one of the filthiest, most neglected rooms I've ever seen, tucked in the back, nowhere near the pool view we were told we'd have. When we brought this up, they told us to wait until after the holiday (a week away) because they were "too busy" to accommodate us. The room was absolutely disgusting. The door didn't lock and was so caked in grime and scum that you couldn't even see out the glass. Inside, it was even worse: * Pubic hairs and blood stains on the sheets and pillowcases * Every single towel they brought us had stains--or actual blood on them * Ceiling falling apart above the shower and doorway (literal chunks of it would fall on us mid-shower) * Greasy handprints on mirrors and the bedpost * Shower drain clogged, with hair and mucus coming up when we ran the water * Outlets didn't work--we couldn't even charge our phones or use hair tools * Bugs and spiders crawling along the walls, under the bed, and across the ceiling * Boogers on the lampshades * And the bed was rock hard--I would've been more comfortable sleeping on the floor All four of us were healthy upon arrival, but after just a few hours in the room we all developed severe allergy symptoms; sneezing, itchy throats, congestion, coughing. Then there's the "free breakfast" amenity. The coffee and juice machines were coated in mold, yes, mold. I took photos and videos. All four of us got sick after drinking it. I reported it to the front desk multiple times over the 12 days I stayed, and they didn't care at all. They looked me in the eye, lied about cleaning it, and made no effort to fix the situation, even after I showed proof. On top of all that, the hotel environment felt completely unsafe. There were known drug users and prostitutes openly staying on the property. It was uncomfortable and unsettling to walk to our room at night, and not once did management seem to monitor or address who was on the premises. And as if that weren't enough--the hotel advertises itself as "newly renovated" and a "resort." We stayed here years ago and can confirm there has been absolutely zero renovation done. That claim is completely false and misleading. It is even 10x worse than our last stay a decade ago. This place is not just dirty, it's a health and safety hazard. Management is unprofessional, unresponsive, and dishonest. Do not book here under any circumstances. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. They are liars and scammers! I decided against putting my hand in the water to drain it. There was also a dehumidifier in the corner next to the bed "to maintain ideal indoor humidity level" as apparently the AC can't do that there. The screen door jammed and the track was black and filthy. Overall - the room was dirty and unkept. We decided to check out and leave due to the lack of cleanliness. The innkeeper emailed to let us know that we would not be refunded as he "did not find fault as outlined" during inspection before and after we left. Don't waste your money or time arriving at Cape Sands Inn! You'll want to check right back out. Please see photo of the dirt in the tub as the innkeeper does not see this as an unacceptable condition.
