The Coonamessett is a great option for dog-friendly hotel rooms or medium-to-large event spaces. We rented the Double Queen Suite for a weekend for our bride and groom's suite, as it was extremely well-lit and spacious enough for my eight groomsmen to get ready with me. It was a little surprising that a room with such a large common space would have two queen beds instead of a king bed, though. The staff, including housekeeping, did a great job making us feel like guests of honor all weekend long, with a bride and groom welcome setup and several refreshes of the room while we were away. We were also able to book one of the dog-friendly rooms at the last minute, in which my mom stayed with our dog. There was lots of green space on and off the property for our dog to explore on walks. The Coonamessett also hosted our morning-after-the-wedding buffet breakfast, which we coordinated through their special events team five months before the wedding. The food was pretty good, nothing special, but was a little on the pricier side (to be expected for a wedding-related event). Since they weren't hosting a wedding on-site that weekend, we were able to use the entire ballroom space. A couple hotel guests wandered in and grabbed a plate before we informed them it was a private event. The lighting here is perfection, and if you have read any of my 100 of reviews you know that it's very important to me. Dining at a restaurant should be special and relaxing. So many places these days are using the lights meant for the cleaning crew as their regular lighting. Horrible. I started with an amazing Lemon Drop martini made with limoncello and not sour mix. Very pleasant stay (off-season) in this hotel. Very friendly reception staff. The suites are nice and spacious, with view on the small lake/pond from one side. Many are pet-friendly which can be convenient. We had dinner at the hotel (during a small snow storm). We didn't have any particular expectation but were very pleasantly surprised. The food is simple (pub type fares) but really well done. The clam chowder was really tasty. My wife was quite happy with her lobster roll. As for me, I am a stickler for cooking fish with precision (meaning not overcooking it). We stay in Falmouth every December for a family party. We normally stay at the Sea Crest, but wanted to try something different this year. I booked a double Queen suite a few weeks ahead and then we added an additional king room last minute. The good: aesthetically pleasing decor, luxurious & upscale toiletries and linens, comfortable beds, early check-in (we were able to get in to our room at 1 PM, which was very much appreciated) , friendly staff, free continental breakfast, wine glasses and corkscrews in the room. The bad: the renovated rooms look so pretty in the photos but in person, they still have kind of a cheap motel feel. They left the original tubs instead of putting in a soaking or jetted tub, and added some narrow little standing showers and awkwardly placed sinks. The views from the big windows in the guest rooms are of the parking lot, the doors to the guest rooms lack adequate security (one cheap lock on the doorknob - no deadbolt or latch up top) and most disappointingly, the noise. We brought a white noise machine for our 3 year old and were still woken up in the middle of the night by loud guests partying on the floor above us. We called the after hours front desk number for help and things quieted down a little bit after that, but not enough to allow for a good night's sleep. The renovations clearly did not include adding any sound insulation. Takeaway - if you're going to stay at a noisy motel in Falmouth in December, you're better off staying at the Seacrest. It's cheaper and you get to wake up looking at the ocean, instead of at a parking lot. read more

The pictures are deceiving...bathroom's were tiny, our view was of a building next door approximately 30 feet from ours, the "continental breakfast" was horrible...there's a Holiday Inn across the street...I'm sure it's better. read more

One word: WOW! My boyfriend and I decided to make a quick, last-minute trip to the Cape and decided we would stay here. After visiting Falmouth once before this trip, we definitely fell in love and found our vacation spot, but were not the most pleased with our accommodations. After our stay at The Coonamessett Inn, I can definitely say that we have found our place to stay in Falmouth. The staff was amazing, there's a restaurant/bar on-site, and the location cannot be beat. First, the rooms are gorgeous and HUGE. We were in a King Suite, which had a living room with TV, table/chairs, couch, closet, mini-fridge, and some drinkware. The bedroom had a huge, four-poster king bed, dresser, and two nightstands. While it looked small online, the walk-in shower was surprisingly huge (as was the whole room, honestly). We even had a patio out front with some furniture, but it was a little too cold to enjoy it. Truthfully a perfect room! The rooms could be improved in two ways, though. First, the sound between the rooms was insane. We could hear verbatim the conversations had by the couple next to us, and I am sure they could with us, too. Also, the temperature control in the rooms was less than ideal. It was either incredibly hot with the heater, or chilling with the windows open. Maybe the desk could have some fans on-site for the guests if they need them? Now for the grounds! They were gorgeous, as is the rest of the cape. The pond is just the perfect setting for this quaint resort! Next time, we hope to try the Lark Suite or a Village King Suite. We did visit Eli's and only had an appetizer and drinks, but definitely will go back on our next trip for a full meal. If you are looking for a place to stay in Falmouth, look no further. We were very excited to try this place for our anniversary weekend. The pictures on the website are beautifully misleading. I think other reviewers have narrated the similar experience. We arrived after 9 pm having come from the city (wanted to avoid Friday evening traffic). We entered the main entrance (lobby was locked) to find an envelope with our name on it and keys enclosed. No one was there to greet us or ask any questions. Our room was steps away. Luckily we found it with no trouble with the help of an enclosed map. We got in and were shocked at just how enhanced the online photos were. This is a major problem. The room is not uninhabitable - to be clear. It's fine but it's just not as advertised. There has to be a Better Business Bureau claim for this. That is dishonest - and to charge what they do per night in the off season - it's not right. The king bed itself was very comfortable, so we had a good rest. The room TV is old school cable - not smart TV, so don't expect to watch Netflix or Hulu here. The room heat pumps well as at one point it was definitely 78 degrees in there. The room door has very meager security locks. We felt very exposed even with all the Roman shades down. read more

We booked to stay at the Coonamessett and were pleasantly surprised with the value it offered for the money we paid. We had struggled to find anything decent on Cape Cod below $500 a night before coming across the Coonamessett. We managed to get a full two bedroom suite for about $450 a night which we thought was great value. The inn itself has a very clean, polished and somewhat upscale vibe which we appreciated; it actually looked better than a lot of the inns that we were considering that were at least 50% more expensive. Our suite was beautifully furnished and the one issue we had was rectified remarkably quickly. The staff were generally very friendly, and in particular, the lady managing the front desk was very professional, personable and eager to help with any queries we had. The breakfast, which is complimentary, is an ample spread of pastries, bread, cereal, yogurt and other continental offerings. It's not a full buffet by any means but was a nice touch and perfectly sufficient for a quick breakfast before starting the day. This place is terrible, outdated and in need of a complete renovation. The web pics are truly deceiving. Our room was a little freestanding building with outdated furniture, a really weird bed, and a shower with no door. The a/c didn't work and it was 84 degrees in our room when we checked in. Though we were told it would be fixed while we were out to dinner it wasn't. So, we had to sleep with the windows open, and got zero sleep since the blinds were flapping in the wind and a large spotlight on the next building shined right in. When we complained they allowed us to check out early without charging us, that was it. I could keep going on and on, but I won't. Bottom line, this place was an uncomfortable, extremely strange/weird place stuck in a time warp - don't do it! Anyone who gives this place a review over 2 stars has probably never stayed anywhere nicer than a Holiday Inn. read more

I had made a reservation in advance knowing I'd be in town for the Cape Cod marathon. As marathon weekend quickly approached it dawned on me, I needed to check to see if I had a tub in my room for an ice bath and Epsom salt soak. When I called to check I was told I did not and could not upgrade because they were at full capacity. I was a bit bummed but I've stayed at several hotels nights of a marathon without a tub and it hasn't been an issue but the fact the Coonamessett was sold out and hosting a wedding I was super worried in advance that I wouldn't sleep well the evening before. When we arrived, the wedding was in full swing. "Just great!" I thought to myself but luckily I didn't hear a thing from my room and slept like a baby. They offer breakfast each morning which was also a nice touch, meaning I didn't need to secure something from somewhere the evening before to have on hand. I generally am super nervous before a race and can't eat more than a bite of anything but since I was only running this marathon for fun I found myself in the dining room at 730a enjoying half of a pumpernickel bagel and bites of their other baked items, a scone and muffin. This is probably the first time I've ever been able to eat before a race and it was really nice, that they offered the small breakfast buffet that they do. We enjoyed it the next morning as well, and I liked that they offered hard boiled eggs since I was looking for a source of protein. The bathroom amenities were great, I definitely required a blow dryer after running 26.2 in the rain and the shower pressure was good. I would like them to offer heavier robes during the cooler months, because the robes seemed a bit light for this time of year and they did not offer slippers which I feel they should with the hardwood floors and well sometimes you just feel more comfortable in slippers. The fireplace was not an actual working fireplace, which threw me off a bit but the heat worked perfectly to produce a very warm and cozy room. I wouldn't rule out staying here again, the price is surely reasonable. read more

We stayed for two nights and had a comfortable stay. Our king room was on the second floor around the corner and an outside walk from the lobby. I was surprised to find that our room didn't have a coffee maker given the distance from the serving area, so when we checked out I mentioned (nicely) that this would be a nice addition- to which the front desk attendant answered "You should have asked." I didn't realize we could ask for appliances, nor was I told upon check-in that this was an option. After 20 years in the hospitality industry I have to say that I was so blown away by the level of service that I received from The Coonamessett staff that I had to take some time to share this review. We had a big blizzard of 22 this past weekend. I lost electric and the Internet and even my generator was giving me trouble. Fortunately the Coonamessett still had rooms and they have a generator so they never lost power. I booked two nights over the phone with Trushan. Now despite the fact that I was so stressed out and worried about everything she was so calm and peaceful on the phone that she literally put my mind at such ease. It was a prepaid reservation and I was clear that there was a no cancellation policy. However as luck would have it 2 feet of snow kept me from being able to drive to the property. I excepted the fact that I wasn't going to get refunded as I know how policies work. To my surprise I got a call back the next day from Trinity and she explained that Trushan had gotten approval to refund me back since they understood it would've been hazardous for me to drive. Please keep in mind I didn't even request this. They just called me and took the liberty to do it on their own! it happens that I'm a co-owner of a plant-based skin and beauty care company. One of our specialties is working in the hospitality industry making private label and custom label bathroom amenities for boutique properties across the US. Our products are top quality, vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, organic, and made with love. So we've had lots of experience talking to exceptional properties that see the value in providing a quality product to their guests. So with that in mind I finally was able to get out on the road today and I drove to the Coonamessett with four gift boxes of my company's products to give to the staff members as a thank you and a token of our appreciation for how they helped our situation during a very challenging time. With all the restrictions of Covid and all the stress of travel because of that, I give such a high praise to the whole team at the Coonamessett. Even despite the fact I wasn't able to be an actual guest, meeting everyone today and seeing how friendly and happy they are tells a big story to me. It tells me that management knows how to treat their staff excellent. My fiance and I looked at The Coonamessett as a venue for our wedding at the end of the year. We fell in love and wound up choosing it. This past weekend we stayed there to get to know Falmouth better. The staff is extremely friendly and made us feel so welcome. The room we stayed in had a living room and bedroom, each of which had a tv. The furniture is beyond comfortable. Additionally, the bed was so comfortable. Lastly, the products that they use in the bathroom were amazing. They smelled amazing and left our hair amazing. Overall I would highly recommend this inn. Everything is so close by. The website exaggerated the look of the room. The room was on a second floor with very narrow steps and almost impossible to take bags up to the room. The bathroom had a since that was so high that a vertically challenged person would not be able to wash their face. The toilet shook when you used it and you could hear the TV in the next room. The floor was slanted and the lighting was modern but cheap We were booked for 5 days and left after the first night. They did not give us back any of the money even though we only stayed one night. "Marketing Manager" for lark corporate, your response to Kylie R's post saying "we are doing all we can, and fortunately succeeding much more than not in delivering positive, memorable, experiences in our hotel and restaurant" is a slap in the face to all 60 guests of whom had a horrible experience at your hotel the weekend of July 4th. The fact that you do not care about Kylies response because you personally think you are having more positive experiences than negative ones, simply echoes the tone of the staff of the Coonamessett; arrogant, rude, and hostile. Your company is consistant in blaming the customer for their bad experience rather than taking any sort of responsibility for the mismanaged and poorly run hotel. I can very much assure you that there were no smiles behind the masks of the staff. I implore you to look inward rather than blame an unhappy customer. I am ashamed that I invited so many people to spend so much money to stay at such an ungrateful establishment for my botched wedding weekend. My only hope is that maybe someday, you and this location can reflect on how you treat customers. Maybe one day you will come to the realization that you are in the hospitality business. No one needs to stay at the Coonamessett, or any of the lark properties for that matter. There are plenty of well run hotels, Inns, and quaint b&b's in Falmouth and throughout Cape Cod. I checked out of the Coonamessett early and without a reservation checked into the Oceans Edge Resort, for the same price per night, my wife & I were treated like true welcomed guests. *To note, the Coonamessett refused to let me check out: *a staff member named Maureen was at the front desk and refused to let me check out, she said because it was an hour after checkout. I was charged for the night I didn't stay on the property, and even received a please check out text the next morning as I layed by the pool of my new hotel, the Oceans Edge.* *I did get refunded by the CEO of lark 4 weeks later. God speed to anyone planning a stay, a family trip, or god forbid a wedding at this location. I urge you to think twice, and whatever you do, put all payments on your credit card as you will most likely need to dispute unauthorized charges once the Coonamessett gets a hold of your information. read more

I am sorry to say I was very disappointed in the Inn. I was looking forward to it, as I have stayed at Lark properties in the past, and they were exquisite. This Inn was just ok. We stayed in a double room suite. No one. told us it was up very skinny stairs, very vertical stairs. We are in good shape, but no way anyone compromised could stay here. The blinds had many broken pulleys, the carpet had a huge hole in it, and housekeeping was sketchy. We overlooked the parking lot. That said , the beds were very comfortable and so were the pillows. The coffee and breakfast were in another building, and didn't start until 7:30. I am up at 6:00, and had no way to get coffee. Very frustrating. I just read a review that said they were told they should have asked for a coffeepot. Really? How would one know that? There was no information provided about that. We stayed in beautiful weather, but I wonder how it wold be going outside to the lobby and restaurant in the snow? The staff was nice and tried to be helpful. We had no hot water for 24 hours (!) and they offered to let us use another room to shower, but not to change rooms. They did offer a small reduction to our tab. The breakfast was very nice and the coffee, when available, was very good The location is great, very near town and shops. Perhaps the staff could be more helpful on local sights and restaurants. I am sad to say I wouldn't recommend it to my friends without knowing the best room to ask for. read more

What a great night at this charming hotel. Rooms was spacious for our family of four. New bathroom decor and minimalist design with way cool wall art made for a comfortable night stay. The restaurant outside overlooking pond serves tasty treats including avacado lobster dish. The drinks were unique and the evening was made special by the live music performer. My husband , mother and i went rhere for Easter. We chose Conamessett because we all had fond memories from there, but this time it was a nightmare. My husband odered the Reben and said it was great. My mother ordered the salmon and she will eat anything because she has a diminished sense of taste but the salmon had so much pepper on it it was inedible. I got some kind of meat ( I say that because i could not place the type. The meat?????? Was a completely nasty experience it was entirely fat from one end to the other. Neither my mother nor i ate more than one bite. Now for the positivr part of this review, we have never had a more delightful waitress, she was attentive and had a delightful personality. We decided to do a "staycation". We live in Centerville and grew up in Falmouth. We knew the Coonamessett had been renovated and we booked a room. My first impression going into bar was an overwhelming smell of pot/weed. And it lingered throughout dinner. We had drinks at the bar and moved to a table. Appetizers, wine and dinner very good. Waitress friendly. We did feel rushed. We were told kitchen closes at nine. You should be able to order dinner and enjoy it. Not be rushed through it. (We had drinks and a bottle of wine) It was clear staff wanted us out at 10. Saturday night. Unable to finish a bottle of Le Crema. Walked to our room, understand this building is old and being renovated. The walkway to room was partially washed away and dangerous. Entry way to our to our room was less than inviting. Our room was exactly like the picture. Tastefully updated while keeping the antique feel of the Coonamessett. Clean and inviting. Unfortunately our next "staycation" will be elsewhere. read more

The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are full of flowers and hidden nooks all wonderful for photos or just to sit and appreciate the views. The accommodations are updated and very comfortable. Like being in an upscale cottage. Maureen, The Rooms Manager, went above and beyond to make our stay incredibly special. She has a quick wit and it seems will do anything to make her clients stay excellent. The location is just a walkable mile from downtown. We had a wonderful stay and WILL be back. We spent 2 nights in the Lark Suite #30. The stand-alone cottage was very cozy, clean, spacious and decorated on trend. The bed was comfortable and the towels were super soft. Now for the bad; Both power outlets in the bathroom did not work and the sinks were way too high off the floor making them very awkward to use. The shower pressure was poor and we had a couple large black flies inside causing a nuisance for us on both nights. As for the location of room, during off season in these Covid times, the entire property was empty which we definitely liked, but in normal times I don't think the location would be very private. The bedroom backs directly up to the restaurant's outdoor dining deck. The restaurant is closed now but in summer, forget it. Upon check in, we were told by the front desk person that a "to go" breakfast would be available starting at 7:30am. Well the next morning we went to check it out at 7:50am and there was nothing, literally nothing, set out. The breakfast offerings on our second morning consisted of dessert like carbs and nothing else. In summary, our stay in the Lark Suite was passable but felt way overpriced for what it was. read more

We have used the Coonamessett for several meetings for our members over the last few years including recently this past November. We have used two different spaces and both have been fantastic but the main room with the views is incredible and impressive for our guests. John Norton arranged the space for us and he was great about checking up on us to make sure everything was okay. The highlight was that we were there on Sunday when they were having their weekly brunch. Everything was great... Eggs Benny, omelet station, typical breakfast items and a roast beef station. This is a review of the restaurant, and not the hotel. But the restaurant itself is a first rate New England Yankee restaurant - Well worth eating at even if you are not a guest at the hotel. It has the right ambience (Colonial building, leather chairs, cozy, quiet). Its execution of the old traditional classics is rock solid. Creamy rich clam chowder with fine clams and plenty of cream and not a touch of overkill. Great lobsters both boiled and baked stuffed. I can vouch for the above dishes personally. Tablemates gave thumbs up to the rolls, the swordfish, the calves liver, the chicken pot pie and the strawberry shortcake. They also do nouveau dishes. I give a massive thumbs up to the panko crusted asparagus spears. The room is refined and old school so I had to watch my table manners. But I would have been just as happy to cram that asparagus down my face in three and a half seconds - never mind Bostonian graces. The Coonamesett Inn is a vast improvement over the loud music sports bar come in your sailing shorts ambience of the typical Cape Cod tourist seafood shack. Love love love it here! I find it to be one of the most charming places on cape all year round. We come on many holidays each year for their lovely brunch which consists of carving and omelette stations, beautiful mix of breakfast and brunch cuisine, perfectly ripe fruits, baked goods, seafood, and more lovely options. It is buffet style and quite pricey per person, but the wonderful service and lovely ambience makes, mixed with the wide array of yummy food, makes it worth the money every single time. Tonight I attended an event and was just as impressed. The staff worked quickly and efficiently serving over 400 people which is a feat of its own, but the quality of food was great as well. The Coonamessett Inn is under new ownership now and as can be expected changes have been made. The lounge area has been modernized and is quite nice. My wife and I have had our Thanksgiving Dinner there the past four years. This past year we thought while very nice it had slipped just a little from previous years. We would still recommend it for fine dining. read more

Just stopped in my old favorite watering hole with my cousin for lunch. As i remembered the Cosmo was top notch and J did not disappoint!! Diane recommended the lobster toast and it was amazing. We were extremely disappointed that Chicken Papani (our favorite) has been dropped from the menu. The renovations are good so far, love the beachy colors. looking forward to the painting of the ceiling in the tavern area. it looks like smoke! i like how the renos are being done with. minimal interruption. to us customers. if only the chicken Papani was on the menu then this would be. 5 star review!! read more

ROACHES! ROACHES! We stayed on August this year and it was not worth the $300 stay. The rooms are billed as quaint = old. The beds are comfortable but while I was sleeping I was visited by roaches on the night stand! In the morning I had to look for my wife's earring and there I found an old black zoro mask. Definitely not mine. The front desk( which is understaffed) was nice and apologized but asked her management to help us out and they told her no. She said that the rooms were inspected and cleaned every day. I think they need better inspection and cleaning. The plus was the hydrangeas and view and the food service was nice. But food was average at best I would not recommend this inn to anyone. read more

Not a Fan... Unfortunately, we think this hotel is more a motel and not as advertised. The lower rooms were dark and our room had a musty smell. There is no functional chairs to sit on in the room. The limited amenities cater to the restaurant patrons and not the hotel guests who can't enjoy the deck without an advanced dinner reservation with the restaurant even if it's empty. Both the front desk and bar closes at 8PM on weekdays and the continental breakfast is limited and left over from the day before including the fruits. We stayed for three nights and it was a big disappointment luckily we spent the rest of our vacation at another Inn that was much more accommodating. read more
