I drove out to Lakeport to see me ex in-laws and my pup. Oddly enough, we have a better relationship post-divorce than during my nightmare of a marriage lol. BUT... I digress... I'm here to tell you about this great restaurant in Lakeport, which is actually facing a municipal airport. When I say municipal, I mean, TINY. We had dinner here at their suggestion. As we walk in, there is a long bar and a few side tables. Very woody feel to the place, which I like, and all things considered, it's expected. We had to wait about five minutes for a table which was fine, for ME. Started with drinks and some appetizers. I ordered the pot stickers and soup, which was a delicious French onion soup. My EFIL (ex father in-law) had a big bowl of the soup as we has feelings crummy and croupy. Nurse Ed had to give a lot of unsolicited medical advice that night, to everyone's benefit. Pot stickers? Awesome. Had a smidge of crunchy with a burst of flavor. The soup was cheesy as ever, and hot enough to eat but not to burn. EFIL had the fish and chips, which he polished off quickly. I heard no complaints from him, which in and of itself is a miracle, so I'll have to assume it was good. The EMIL (ex mother in-law) had the 'basic a$$ bacon cheeseburger', which I actually did try and was pretty spot on. She asked for it well done... which I'm not a big fan off, but still tasty... Had lots of greens and truffle fries. I went with the 14oz pan roasted angus New York steak came with alfredo butter, steak sauce, sautéed veggies, yukon mashers. Let me tell you. I ate that thing before the in-laws were 3/4 of the way finished with their meals. Steak was ordered medium, and was perfect temp-wise. The mashed potatoes were great, nothing to brag about, but also no complaints from me. The veggies, while delicious, were lacking in portion. I wish there was more! I can't take a STAR away due to my insatiable appetite for veggies though. Just the "quick" tip... Check it out. I hear it's cooler during the day when the planes are around. Amazing - just amazing! I think I had the best waffle burger of my life so far...lol! But seriously, everything we ate here tasted downright delicious. The firecracker shrimp was equally good. We sat out on the outside deck for lunch, so we got to watch people take off in their planes from the airport where this restaurant is located. I'd definitely love to eat there again! read more

I didn't find eating in a less-than-air conditioned room fun on a hot day. The more people inside the dining room it got worst. Food was ok. I got the fish and chips. The tartar sauce was salty. They give you water once you get to the table. Service was prompt and then the waitress got busy when more people came in. The table behind us came in after us and they ate and went fast. I had to flag down our waitress. My table mate got cesar salad which looked like heavy in dressing. I didnt say anything. Also Mashed Yukon potato with bacon and chives (not much), minus cheese $9. We saw one small plane take off. The other tables had hugh onion rings and another had some sort of sushi rolls. Their hamburger was hugh with fries. If you like fried food, I guess this is the place. Yes, i always admired other tables. COme here between 4 pm to 6 pm for weekday specials. We missed it by 1 minute. Pull pork sandwich would be my choice. That's ok though, won't be going back since just traveling through. Should have ate near our hotel. Lesson learned. read more

Super cool find while we were on our camping trip up in Clearlake SP. Lots of good food options. I'm not just saying that because we've been camping and been living off campfire food. Its genuinely delicious. All the food is as unique as some of their names. Memorable mention was the Zombie Fries. Super fantastic amazingly loaded curly fries! Our wait staff was super awesome and friendly. This place is all about the planes. Lots of lane themes being near/on an airport. You can see some planes and helicopter take-off, pretty cool. What a unique restaurant! I came up here for the weekend and decided to stop here with my mom for lunch. We watched from the patio area horses walking on the air strip. We also were able to see a few planes and a helicopter land and take off during lunch. The drinks and food were great! Large portions for a good price. Not a fan of the main food menu because I have a bunch of severe allergies and they refuse to make any changes to the menu but I love their oysters. Cocktails are ok but insanely overpriced and a bit on the sweet side. I grew up in a family of airplane pilots on both sides of my family and have great memories of playing in the hangers of this airport for my grandparents personal plane, so I really enjoy the view. This review is after 3 experiences from reds'. I first tried the catch of the day to go as a pick up order, fish with mashed potatoes and corn. Very flavorful and nothing to complain. Second time around I tried the same catch of the day in house and the food was cold, and seasoning was a bit lacking. It felt as though they prioritized the to go orders and ours in house weren't, hence them being cold. I tried one last time, the gnocchi with added chicken which was tasty. This was a Togo order. Although the service is friendly, I feel that waiting for my order at the restaurant to eat there is not worth it, to go is prioritized. Some of the best food I ever had. I am way impressed. From the burgers to the shrimp, just amazing.

I've been wanting to try Red's for a long time; several years to be exact. I had been seeing the photos and reviews all over social media, and I knew this was a place I needed to visit. Recently, while visiting the area, I finally got that opportunity. We made a reservation prior to our trip, and thankfully we did. When we arrived just before 6pm on a Friday evening, the parking lot was packed - and that's when I knew we were in for a treat! We were immediately greeted at the door by Nicole, the owner. I just happened to notice the wine wall as we were escorted to our table, which happened to be in the corner of the restaurant, next to the large windows, overlooking the airport and setting us up for a stunning view of the spectacular sunset that night. We didn't have to wait long at all for our server, Charlie, to get our drink request. Within just a matter of a few minutes, we had our frosty cold beverages of choice in front of us, and were sipping our cocktails while watching that picture perfect sunset (more on that in a minute). Charlie came back to the table and explained the Red's menu perfectly; almost as if she wrote everything on there herself. We were told about the special that night, which happened to be fish and chips. She also offered some suggestions, such as a local favorite, the shrimp and grits, or the clam chowder. My wife ordered the shrimp and grits (being a southern girl, I didn't expect anything different), my buddy and I got the fish and chip special, and his wife got a burger. We also ordered the deviled egg appetizer just for the simple reason that it was something a little different and we thought it would be fun to try. Now, let's get back to that sunset. If I told you there would be some of the most amazing views of the mountains, clouds, airplanes, and a perfect blend of soft cool tones with some vibrant warm colors, would you believe me? I didn't think so. I almost couldn't believe it myself, which is why I snapped a photo. It's almost as if the world was letting us know we were meant to be there at that very moment. Awesome appetizers, great cocktails, best view in the house.... Are you getting the picture? Oh hey! The food is here. That was quick. It was at that moment, we realized that we were going to need a couple take-home containers. But first, we dine! This is where I'd usually take some photos of our food before we destroy it; but we were so excited to finally be dining at Red's that it completely skipped my mind. My wife did manage to snap a photo of the shrimp and grits, but the rest of us weren't as prepared. I can't even explain how good the fish and chips were. And that coleslaw is to die for! Once we were stuffed, we had to get those take-home containers. Which wasn't surprising considering how much food there was. All in all, we were treated like royalty, and Red's at the Skyroom really took care of us. I'm sure if they had a red carpet, it would have been rolled out. If you're looking for a great place with friendly staff, unmatched service, amazing food, and stellar views, you really need to make it a point to get down to Red's. I don't think 5 stars is enough. I wish I lived closer, because this place is very clearly a favorite for locals and frequent travelers to the Lake County area. read more

Food was exceptional, service was adequate and friendly and we got to sit outside to watch planes take off and land. No complaints. This is a hidden away Lake county gem. If you get cold ask them to turn on the outdoor heaters they really did the trick. read more

When you do choose this place look at their daily specials and choose to go on the day that food and prices match your pallette. Happy Hour. Reasonable prices and good mixed drinks. On our way home from Shelter Cove, my man flew us to Lampson Field for lunch. The restaurant was at the airport, and the outside seating had a nice view of airplanes flying in and out. We started with the Zombie Tots, and it was HUGE!!! It was cheesy, tasty, and filled with delicious shredded pork. There were a few cherry peppers, and I didn't eat that cuz it was too spicy for me. But they were easy to pick out, and I still enjoyed the dish. We also had the Seafood Stew, and it was good! They filled a small bowl with clams, mussels, fish, calamari, and shrimp! Yum! There were two pieces of toasted super buttery bread that we dipped in the tomato-based broth. I'm glad they gave us two, I didn't want to have to share the bread with my man. It was THAT good! 5 stars for our server Joey! He was the best! Personable, efficient, prompt. Our first time dining during their 4-6pm Happy Hour. He answered all of our questions and even made sure we had everything we needed from the HH menu before 6pm. We enjoyed some sushi rolls and I was finally able to try a half order (half order available HH menu) of their famous Crack and Cheese! It had ground beef, bacon, cheddar cheese sauce with penne pasta, topped with crushed Cheetos! Even with a half order I took home leftovers. Every time I've eaten here, my burger is made wrong, with something added on that I specifically ask to be removed as I'm ordering the burger. Happens on more than just one burger. For example, one burger requested without mustard, arrives with mustard. The next, requested without pickles, arrives with pickles. Burnt onion rings twice in a row. Literally every time I've been to this restaurant they have remade my burger. Service was fine, and the ambiance is fine, but I'm not sure why I have to sit and wait for my food to be made wrong, and then made again. We were a party of 14. We made reservations ahead of time and when we arrived we were greeted and immediately sat at our reserved table. The waitress was patient and pleasant in taking all of our orders. The menu had a lot of choices to choose from. One was the specials of the day, the other was appetizers, side dishes and main courses. We all chose a variety of food and everything we had was cooked to perfection! There were absolutely no complaints from all of us. They also have a good list of cocktails, wine and beer to choose from. I have enjoyed (carefully) walking near the plane landing area after dinner around sunset- so pretty! Giant delicious salads are a hit and the truffle deviled eggs are delicious! The burger was super messy and greasy (some ppl love it some ppl hate it!) Portions are massive and prices are decent (I live in Napa so this felt like a steal). This place is a hidden gem! We flew in with some friends and had dinner here. All four of us had a great meal and the service was excellent. I had the burger which was cooked just right. The bun was moist and all the toppings were great. The fries were tasty and not greasy. It was all kept warm by having it served on a small metal tray about the size of a plate, which I thought was an innovative idea that worked well. My wife said her vegetarian sandwich was very good and our friends reported that their chicken sandwich and Mahim-mahi fish were great as well. The chicken sandwich came with an excellent soup. Our server was very attentive making sure our water glasses were never empty and checking on us often. She even pulled the shade down when she noticed the sun was about to get in our eyes. I just started a job across the airfield from Red's and decided to check it out. I've been back nearly every day Im working. The food and service are nothing short of amazing. I've been trying different dishes and haven't had anything I didn't like. They have a wide variety of food, but without making the menu tedious. The offerings are unique and made with care. Plenty of seating for medium and even larger sized groups. Outdoor seating is nice with a good view of the runway and all of the interesting aircraft and ummm... projects that make Lampson unique. We came in about 20 minutes before close and they had no problems with seating us and taking our orders. Love Reds. This was a birthday dinner for my husband. Everything was GREAT except my plate was given to the wrong table and my party had to eat without me. When I did get my plate my two sons ordered dessert, to put it into context how long I waited. We spent over $245 and not a drink or dessert was removed from the bill for the mishap.
