Potato with bacon and chives (very little), minus cheese, hugh for $9
    Helen L.

I didn't find eating in a less-than-air conditioned room fun on a hot day. The more people inside the dining room it got worst. Food was ok. I got the fish and chips. The tartar sauce was salty. They give you water once you get to the table. Service was prompt and then the waitress got busy when more people came in. The table behind us came in after us and they ate and went fast. I had to flag down our waitress. My table mate got cesar salad which looked like heavy in dressing. I didnt say anything. Also Mashed Yukon potato with bacon and chives (not much), minus cheese $9. We saw one small plane take off. The other tables had hugh onion rings and another had some sort of sushi rolls. Their hamburger was hugh with fries. If you like fried food, I guess this is the place. Yes, i always admired other tables. COme here between 4 pm to 6 pm for weekday specials. We missed it by 1 minute. Pull pork sandwich would be my choice. That's ok though, won't be going back since just traveling through. Should have ate near our hotel. Lesson learned.

Flew in for some $200 burgers. Ended up getting the Smashburger tacos and they were delicious! Meat cooked right, tortilla had a little crunch, lettuce was fresh and the sauce on it was really good! Fries were also great! Server was great too! I'd be happy to fly back in here for another $200 meal! lol

Super cool find while we were on our camping trip up in Clearlake SP. Lots of good food options. I'm not just saying that because we've been camping and been living off campfire food. Its genuinely delicious. All the food is as unique as some of their names. Memorable mention was the Zombie Fries. Super fantastic amazingly loaded curly fries! Our wait staff was super awesome and friendly. This place is all about the planes. Lots of lane themes being near/on an airport. You can see some planes and helicopter take-off, pretty cool. It does get a bit loud but definitely worth the view and food.

Went here for my daughter's 20th Birthday. The staff was amazing with our large party. Charlie and our server were very attentive and the whole staff sung happy Birthday to my daughter. 10 out of 10 experience. Food was great so was the staff.

    Delicious Caesar salad!

Red's is great! The flavors are delicious. My friend had the Chinese chicken salad, and couldn't stop raving about how good it was. I had the Caesar salad, and it's one of my favorites ever! The portion size is very generous. And the wait staff are excellent. Highly recommended!

What a unique restaurant! I came up here for the weekend and decided to stop here with my mom for lunch. We watched from the patio area horses walking on the air strip. We also were able to see a few planes and a helicopter land and take off during lunch. The drinks and food were great! Large portions for a good price. When you pay at the end, they give you a Red's postcard that you address and write a note and they will post and mail this out for you, which I thought was a unique touch.

    Gnocchi with chicken

This review is after 3 experiences from reds'. I first tried the catch of the day to go as a pick up order, fish with mashed potatoes and corn. Very flavorful and nothing to complain. Second time around I tried the same catch of the day in house and the food was cold, and seasoning was a bit lacking. It felt as though they prioritized the to go orders and ours in house weren't, hence them being cold. I tried one last time, the gnocchi with added chicken which was tasty. This was a Togo order. Although the service is friendly, I feel that waiting for my order at the restaurant to eat there is not worth it, to go is prioritized. Gnhocci was creamy, pillowy and delicious, perfect amount of sauce.

Flew down for date night, one of the few on-field restaurants with later hours, even on a Sunday! Was pleasantly surprised with the quick and attentive service we received. Just as impressive is the food, I got a burger, she got a sushi roll. Both were phenomenal and the prices were fair. Will definitely be back.

Picture perfect sunset from Red's at the Skyroom.

I've been wanting to try Red's for a long time; several years to be exact. I had been seeing the photos and reviews all over social media, and I knew this was a place I needed to visit. Recently, while visiting the area, I finally got that opportunity. We made a reservation prior to our trip, and thankfully we did. When we arrived just before 6pm on a Friday evening, the parking lot was packed - and that's when I knew we were in for a treat! We were immediately greeted at the door by Nicole, the owner. I just happened to notice the wine wall as we were escorted to our table, which happened to be in the corner of the restaurant, next to the large windows, overlooking the airport and setting us up for a stunning view of the spectacular sunset that night. We didn't have to wait long at all for our server, Charlie, to get our drink request. Within just a matter of a few minutes, we had our frosty cold beverages of choice in front of us, and were sipping our cocktails while watching that picture perfect sunset (more on that in a minute). Charlie came back to the table and explained the Red's menu perfectly; almost as if she wrote everything on there herself. We were told about the special that night, which happened to be fish and chips. She also offered some suggestions, such as a local favorite, the shrimp and grits, or the clam chowder. My wife ordered the shrimp and grits (being a southern girl, I didn't expect anything different), my buddy and I got the fish and chip special, and his wife got a burger. We also ordered the deviled egg appetizer just for the simple reason that it was something a little different and we thought it would be fun to try. Now, let's get back to that sunset. If I told you there would be some of the most amazing views of the mountains, clouds, airplanes, and a perfect blend of soft cool tones with some vibrant warm colors, would you believe me? I didn't think so. I almost couldn't believe it myself, which is why I snapped a photo. It's almost as if the world was letting us know we were meant to be there at that very moment. Awesome appetizers, great cocktails, best view in the house.... Are you getting the picture? Oh hey! The food is here. That was quick. It was at that moment, we realized that we were going to need a couple take-home containers. But first, we dine! This is where I'd usually take some photos of our food before we destroy it; but we were so excited to finally be dining at Red's that it completely skipped my mind. My wife did manage to snap a photo of the shrimp and grits, but the rest of us weren't as prepared. I can't even explain how good the fish and chips were. And that coleslaw is to die for! Once we were stuffed, we had to get those take-home containers. Which wasn't surprising considering how much food there was. All in all, we were treated like royalty, and Red's at the Skyroom really took care of us. I'm sure if they had a red carpet, it would have been rolled out. If you're looking for a great place with friendly staff, unmatched service, amazing food, and stellar views, you really need to make it a point to get down to Red's. I don't think 5 stars is enough. I wish I lived closer, because this place is very clearly a favorite for locals and frequent travelers to the Lake County area.

The service was OK - not exceptional. But the food was very good for a restaurant of this type (middle priced diner). The restaurant is located at the Lampson field airport. There's plenty of inside and outside seating. It's well worth the drive or the flight from the Bay Area or from Sacramento Valley.

    Jen C.

On our way home from Shelter Cove, my man flew us to Lampson Field for lunch. The restaurant was at the airport, and the outside seating had a nice view of airplanes flying in and out. We started with the Zombie Tots, and it was HUGE!!! It was cheesy, tasty, and filled with delicious shredded pork. There were a few cherry peppers, and I didn't eat that cuz it was too spicy for me. But they were easy to pick out, and I still enjoyed the dish. We also had the Seafood Stew, and it was good! They filled a small bowl with clams, mussels, fish, calamari, and shrimp! Yum! There were two pieces of toasted super buttery bread that we dipped in the tomato-based broth. I'm glad they gave us two, I didn't want to have to share the bread with my man. It was THAT good! Overall, the service was quick and friendly. The view was fun! Plus, the food was great! No complaints!

Pleasantly surprised by this little restaurant at this local airport. People fly in just to eat and take off again. Clam chowder was simple, no frills but great with their bread Pleasantly surprised by their pork belly has slight heat to it and just breaks apart. Honey chicken sando was out together well but I wasn't keen on the honey sauce. That's more of taste preference. I should have tried the firecracker instead. Just a great value overall and service was friendly.

Is there a view of the lake?

No view of the lake, but you are thus spared from the foul odor of algae that happens each Summer. You DO get a cool view of the airfield and vintage aircraft and the food is superior to anywhere else in the county.

Great vibes, my friend and I both ordered the honey walnut chicken sandwich -- incredible one of the best things I've had this year. I need to try tore-create it at home just to have it again. The service was amazing the whole night. I will always try to stop here every time I come back to Lake County. When we first sat down, we were starving, and our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs, we ordered the poke appetizer and two honey walnut fried chicken sandwiches. Our sandwiches came out before the appetizer but once our sandwiches came, we both realized there was no way we were going to have room too also eat the pokey. We asked our server if he could just cancel the appetizer and we told him it really was no problem because we were enjoying our sandwiches so much. We were already way too full for the appetizer. Our server felt bad about not bringing out the appetizer and instead gave us free dessert even though he really didn't need to--it was so kind. So generous so gracious! We weren't upset about the appetizer not coming out in time; we were glad it happened that way, but he still wanted to make up for it! He didn't even charge us for the appetizer in on our way with a hot brownie and ice cream. Incredible service and I can't wait to come back. Thank you so much, Saw shop public house! Looking forward to trying more food on your menu. See you next time!

I must say, it exceeded all our expectations! We arrived slightly early, and as we waited a friendly gentleman approached us inquiring if we needed assistance. Though the restaurant had not yet opened, he kindly spoke with the staff on our behalf. He invited us to sit in the charming, shaded courtyard. Which was perfect especially since we were accompanied by our sweet Boston Terrier. Our server Kameron was exceptional, attentive, knowledgeable, and delightful. She shared fascinating details about the historic buildings and their connection to the hotel, providing us with a booklet recounting the intriguing story of the Tallman family's legacy. Kameron also recommended the Blue Wings with a sweet-spicy Asian glaze as an appetizer. Without a doubt, the best chicken wings I have ever tasted! Her suggestion was spot on, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. My husband ordered the Fish & Chips, while I savored the Crispy Chicken Salad. Both dishes prepared to perfection. Our dog Winnie was treated to a generous beef dog patty. An impressive patty that left her a very happy girl. Our experience with Kameron truly made us fall in love with Tallman's. So much so that before leaving, I immediately made a reservation for July. The same courteous gentleman who initially greeted us was there to assist with this, offering to reserve a dinner reservation for the evening we arrive. He even offered to show us one of their dog-friendly Main Street Suites. The suite was absolutely stunning. The hospitality we received throughout our visit was exemplary. I am now more excited about our upcoming stay at Tallman's than even our planned trip to the beach house in Fort Bragg. Every member of the staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Blue Wing Saloon and the Tallman Hotel to anyone seeking outstanding service, exceptional food, and drinks!

We didn't say anything while we were there because it was only about 30 minutes before closing, and we didn't want to be those customers or inconvenience the staff. We simply paid our bill and left. Since the new ownership, it's clear that something has changed. Whether it's the menu, ingredients, or chef, the heart of this place doesn't seem to be the same anymore.
