The venue itself is really nice. They, however were really really short staffed when we visited on a Sunday afternoon for the all you can eat brunch. The food tasted good but the only items refilled were the breakfast items. There was only one person working the omelet station and he did that in between helping to replenish the other food. Amazing bowling/event venue with live music and good ambiance! I came here on Friday night for bowling, and we had the best time. For a Friday night at 7 this place was pretty empty. Right when we arrived, a band called Night Hog start to perform. They were really good! They played on the first floor stage, and we sat at the seating right across from them. There was a dance floor in between us, but no one was dancing. We sat here for quite some time while we waited to bowl, so we kept going to the other side of the first floor to get drinks from the bar. Bar service was great! I never waited for a drink, and the bartenders gave good recommendations. Typical bar with plenty of cocktails and beers. When it was our turn to bowl, we went up to the 5th floor and got our lane. It is $25 an hour per lane, which I think is an amazing deal. At the lane, there are places to sit, tvs, tons of bowling balls and four total lanes. For bowling you were able to choose different games after you finished your round. I really like how they didn't make you change your shoes.. you could bowl in heels if you wanted. Show rental is free! This was an old warehouse converters into an event venue... just so cool. It was a pretty big venue. I think they can hold multiple events there at a time. When we first got there, there were a decent amount of people at the bar, so it took us 15 minutes to get our drinks. They had a select draft menu and cans only. The bartenders didn't seem too knowledgeable. They had a live band playing for entertainment. Classmates of my daughter were performing for the Thursday night jam. This is a really nice place and I definitely will have to come back for bowling. The drinks were really strong and we shared the fries I didn't realize the waitress didn't hear my complete order but it was noisy. I don't eat bacon so I just pushed it to the side but it other than that they were good. It's really nice that they also give the kids a platform to display their talents. The ladies in the family thought it would be good to get out for a ladies night. My sister in law suggested Red stick social. I had never been but I had a cousin who had gone and said it was pretty good. We went in. Saturday night at 7:30. LSU was playing away! So the building is nice and modern. There are string lights that you can see from Government street. There is a gravel parking lot across from the building. Ppl park terrible and it fills fast. You walk up to the building and there is the sweetest security guard sitting outside. Very welcoming. We walk in and it's like an outside patio empty space below and then up the stairs there are some stables to be seated outside. Walk in and you are told to go to the hostess station to request a table. Looks like there is seating in that area and a stage for a band. We were seated immediately! We sat in what appeared to me the main dining area. We were seated between 8:15-8:19. No one had greeted us by 8:20. I happened to see a girl and I asked her is this the bar area where we are expected to walk up to the bar for service? She replied "no let me see who is assigned to you" she came back 2-3 min later and said "the hostess didn't write this table down and no one assigned so I'll take yaul" I was like thanks. Mind you.....it is EXTREMELY LOUD!!!!!! I mean really loud! I asked was the sweet tea freshly brewed or from a tap and she replied "it's brewed but it's definitely not fresh" Ummm........ok I just got a margarita and it was just ok ! My cousins ordered the frozen and I had on the rocks. They said theirs didn't taste like anything. 4 of us got smoked wings and crawfish MAC. The other lady ordered the shrimp, with the wings...... The food was ok! The Mac and cheese was good and if I ever went back I would order it again..... I didn't bowl but to me the food isn't worth the price that it is. The service was mediocre. I would typically recommend this place for a nice cocktail and bowling. However, I went there for brunch on 7/23/23 with some friends and unfortunately all of us got food poisoning. Initially I thought it was the mimosas not sitting well with me, but the symptoms continued for 3 days. I called my friend and she was also cramping, vomiting, and having diarrhea. We both was unable to keep down any food or water. I may consider revisiting Red Stick Social for other purposes but I won't be attending brunch again soon. Didn't know this place existed until a member if my church took member took me here. He wanted to check out the bowling alleys. That section (on the second floor) was closed off that day for a private party but I was impressed with what I did see. Lots a space, a nice bar, a stage which people were dancing on that night but I imagine they have bands usually and lots of seating as well. The building was a power plant at one point from what I understand and you can see that. Brick walls and other elements left in. That night my friend had a Blue Moon and I had a Moscow Mule which was served in a cool copper mug. The age range seems to be varied but seems to be on the younger side. People seemed ready to have a good time as several women approached me that night which doesn't usually happen on the dive bars I usually go to - guess I've still got it! Can't say much about the food menu because we didn't order anything but I have heard good things about it. The bartenders were quick to take my order through and there was a nice selection. If I wanted a fun night out or had friends in town who wanted to get together, I would definitely choose Red Stick Social. read more

I've been to Red Stick Social twice in the past two weeks. My first time here I was with my coworkers for a team outing. And the second time with a friend to celebrate her birthday. All in all, I had a great time! I love the way that the inside still has traces of the warehouse/factory. I'm a huge sucker for industrial design so naturally I was in love with the interior. Both times I stopped by there was a $10 cover to get in because of live music which I did not mind but it's good to keep in mind if you just want to come to bowl. The live band are a bit too loud for me because it was hard to talk to anyone even when we sat close. I assume it's loud so that it's heard from all 5 floors but it seemed like only the 3rd (maybe 4th) floor were open to bowlers. The atmosphere a live band brings is nice though! The staff is very friendly and willing to help with any request we had. I noticed some reviews about larger parties not having a great time but we didn't not have any issues for the team outing (group of 12). Granted, this was on a Thursday night. When I came back with my friend on a Saturday night, the building was packed. It looks like the bartenders are also responsible for not only making drinks and taking food orders but also setting up bowling lanes, getting shoes/socks, etc. I could instantly see how service can slow down when a number of tasks has to be split between 2-3 workers with a full house. I was patient and understood that there may be a lot on their plate. On top of that, many places are slowly reopening & they only have a partial menu out now so I'm sure there's a plan for them to be fully open & staffed as well. This place is amazing! It's beautiful. Everyone was super friendly. We got there for lunch at 11:00am Friday. The owner's/manager's were greeting everyone. Even the chef greeted us and thanked us for coming in! We just ordered takeout at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and went out of his way to get us to go drinks. (We didn't even ask). I always have low expectations for food from a new place, but BOY was I wrong. I had the pork rinds with queso and the smoked wings. I had never heard of Red Stick Social until I visited it as a part of the LSU Alumni Association Chapter Summit. I wish I had known about it when I was a student, it seems like an awesome place to hang out, gather and have fun! It also seems like a solid place to have a graduation/birthday party or any other large celebratory gathering. I love the modern industrial vibe/design. As part of my conference, we were treated to drinks and food on the fourth floor. We had spinach and artichoke dip, wings, gumbo, red beans and some dessert items. The gumbo and the spinach dip were the stars of the meal for me. (The gumbo was sausage and chicken, but I'm sure could be just chicken should there be any dietary restrictions on pork.) I could have eaten them the whole night had we not had to leave. Overall, the food was great, but the plates we were given were so small it made it hard to enjoy our dinner. While we did not have time to bowl with our large group, we did visit the rooftop and were treated a great view of string lights and some of the cityscape. Being located so close the Mississippi River and the modern/industrial design, the rooftop seems like a great place for pictures and/or parties. My reasoning for giving 4/5 stars is that I did not get to experience all of the amenities Red Stick offers, so I can't speak to the full experience. This place has serious potential. The whole plaza does. Red Stick Social is housed in a new business nook called "The Electric Depot". It's a former power company that now holds various food, beverage and art businesses. It has that industrial art vibe that sucks you inn the moment you pull up. Red Stick Social seems to be the "anchor business" as it is the largest and takes up the main building. Outside, there is a fenced in play area for dogs, children and adults alike. Downstairs is a restaurant and bar, while upstairs is a bowling alley. This place truly has a "little bit for everyone". Service was slow, but I am hoping that is just a training curve. I had high hopes for this new hot spot in mid-city, and unfortunately it didn't fully live up to the hype. The atmosphere and space are incredible - solid 5 stars if we were just rating off of that. It was a lot of fun to wander around, listen to the band, and sit and chat on the rooftop patio. The bowling was a lot of fun, and reasonably priced on a Saturday night if you split the lane rental with friends. Weeknights are of course cheaper, with a great Tuesday special. The food was the biggest letdown though, and the reason for this place not living up to the hype for me. I had heard great things about the chef, and the menu looked awesome - lots of choices and variety. We played it safe and ordered a catfish poboy and the slider trio (your choice out of 4). The sliders sounded great, but were ice cold and had almost no meat on them. I can't attest to the poboy, but my husband said it was just ok. (It was reasonably priced for a large portion though, and came with a side unlike the sliders). Service was just so-so. All that being said, I am excited to give this place another try. Maybe they need to iron out some opening weekend kinks. For the bowling, drinks, and atmosphere this place is a hit...maybe have dinner elsewhere though. read more

I've been twice, both times for Tuesday's bowling special where it's $10/lane/hour. It isn't too busy and this place is massive so plenty of places to hang around if you do end up needing to wait for a lane. I've tried drinks and snacks in the form of chips and queso. The bowling lane area has a limited food menu so we had the chips and fries. They were both okay! Not bad but not great. The drinks are good. They're strong and not ridiculously priced. I did not have bad service like other reviewers had stated--I think they've upped their game so I thought it was pretty good. The one downfall is that it is SO HOT. Like upstairs where the bowling lanes are, it's like stuffy. Everyone in my party was drenched in a thin layer of moisture. It was like that the first time I went also. This was my first time at Red Stick Social and it was overall a pretty decent experience. We went just for dinner and didn't partake in the bowling or the ping pong. We did though walk around the restaurant and there are five floors which you get to by getting on an elevator. The bowling looked very bougee, and also very fun. Everyone was very well dressed which was kind of strange to see. For appetizers we had the hummus and pork rinds with queso. I loved both of these options, but the pork rinds and queso was a really good match. For my entree I had the pepperoni flatbread which was a little underwhelming, it was still pretty good but not what I was expecting. My friends got the burgers and those were really good so I'd recommend that for anyone going there. It's also a big open room on the 1st floor and it can get super loud so prepare to scream to the people at your table just to get them to hear you. The building is also by the train tracks which just adds to the noise. I honestly left with a little headache just because of the noise Red Stick produces. We stopped for dinner at Red Stick Social, excited to try out a new spot that holds the promise of some much-needed rejuvenation in a neighborhood that deserves it. Our meals were both tasty and hearty, but the service was a shade on the slow side, and our water glasses sat empty for longer than they should have. The Mac and cheese dinner that my wife ordered was excellent. My chicken and waffles was good -- not quite off-the-charts good -- but good enough that I'm very willing to go back. This is such a unique place to go in Baton Rouge. I really like the idea of a restaurant/ bar/ entertainment venue/ bowling alley/ hangout space. The building is a converted warehouse so it has a very cool modern industrial vibe. I also really enjoyed the food. We tried some appetizers and had dinner and I thought all of it was delicious. I really appreciated chicken and waffles being on the dinner menu- instead of just the brunch menu like most places. The queso was also amazing! My only critique is that it gets rather loud, but I think that's just the nature of the space since all of the levels are open to the whole building. I finally got the chance to try Red Stick Social, and it did not disappoint. The service and wait staff were awesome and the food was too. The chicken and waffles were the right amount of spicy and sweet. My friends had the crawfish macaroni and wings which were also equally as good. The Frosé is good as well! I went on Saturday night with a big group and got there around 1130PM. Honestly, I'll be shocked if RSS is open more than another 6 months. The concept has a lot of potential and the aesthetics are good.....but there are no people. It was close to empty when we got there and once the band stopped playing at 1155, it was as if the staff wanted to run everyone out (turned on the bright lights, no music playing). The place quickly emptied and there were way more staff than customers. Service was below average (and I don't consider myself a tough critic in this area). People standing around the bar but not taking my order is inexcusable. Bartender made below average drinks and they were light pours. This is the second time I had been to RSS. I had so much hope for this unique building! After visiting and watching them on social media, I feel like I watched all of that potential spiral down the toilet. The set up is neat- there are multiple levels, a cool rooftop bar area, even a bowling alley. The problem is that they cant quite seem to decide what they want to be...or they have decided to be an incredibly loud restaurant with places to sit silently next to your group while you have your ears blasted by a cover band of some sort. Genuinely impossible to have a conversation during dinner if they have music playing. Or perhaps they have decided to be an uptight place where you wear a collared shirt and bowl with your other white friends. They have enforced a City Bar-esque dress code full of coded language like "no sagging" and "no torn clothing" and something about gang affiliations. Yeah, we get it: you don't want black people at your business. Another gentrified Government St business that wants to ostracize half the city. Okay, well, dont expect the support of those of us that dont want our city to be a segregated hell scape. The food was not worth mentioning, and the drinks were okay. The poor waitress lost her voice days ago and looked so tired, but was doing her best. I really like this concept of renovating unused industrial buildings into cultural hubs... if they can remember that they are in Baton Rouge and that putting out social media messages using language that has historically meant "no black people allowed" means that we know what your business is about. Saying "gangs keep out" and attempting to shame women ("overly revealing clothing" not allowed? Please. Its 2019. Get over yourselves) doesnt help your neighborhood- creating spaces that encourage community does. So, overall, Red Stick Social misses the mark on being a Baton Rouge community space that actually embraces Baton Rouge. They seemed to run out of high top chairs and had people taking chairs from other tables, so there were people standing up at some tables. When we sat down we asked the waiter about the specials and they said all they had was the same special as every football game. The manager might announce more specials as the night progresses. When it comes to staff, they were nice but it seemed like they were understaffed for the event. Had to wait a good while to place orders or get the waiters attention as it seemed he was stretched thin. Food was decent, some seemed over priced ($13 for 5 firecracker shrimp???) We waited for awhile for lanes which had been open for over an hour and when we wanted to continue playing, we were told we couldn't because there was a waitlist which could have been communicated prior to us setting up to bowl. Disclaimer: I went with a 14 person group for a friends birthday on a Saturday and I did give them a little grace for the timeliness and whatnot, but this experience wasn't great regardless. They were hosting a private party upstairs and it seemed like they were maybe too understaffed to handle a Saturday crowd plus the party. And underprepared with supplies and food. Or waiter was rude when answering questions about the menu. He was clearly not having a great night but really didn't have to take it out on us. It took us 30 minutes to get refills on our margarita pitchers and when we simply checked in on them, he gave us some snappy answer (as it we had been complaining) about there being a shortage of pitchers. The margaritas weren't my favorite at all. Tasted like a Walmart mixture with cheap tequila. And note that a pitcher is roughly 2.5 drinks. It took us an hour to get our food and it was subpar food at that. I got the cheese burger. They were out of Gouda. It was fine. Nothing special. After it took so long to eat, we didn't want to even think about sticking around for bowling or the band. We went for food and drinks so I can't comment on the bowling, but it seemed rather expensive. We arrived in the afternoon on a Thursday and it wasn't super busy. The hostess seemed confused and was very long winded in her explanation of how we could be seated, before coming right back and seating us in the downstairs area near the stage. We sat there for a while before flagging down a waitress who looked confused as to why customers would be talking to her. Apparently no one told our actual server that we were there. When she did show up, she was apologetic and friendly. It took quite a while to get drinks and they came out one by one. We realized we would need to order food quickly if this was how it was going to go. People in my party ordered mostly burgers and flatbreads. I had read about the chef and menu and definitely expected more than what we got. After about 45 minutes at least, food started to come out. The server did apologize for the wait. But I just don't know how it took so long to crank out these simple items. They need to simplify their menu if flatbreads and burgers take this long. The flatbreads themselves weren't much more elevated than a Lean Cuisine Pizza. That's what the crust tasted like. The toppings were there but there was hardly any flavor. I could have made this myself at home. I also realized they charged me $13 for the flatbread because they used the optional vegan cheese instead of regular cheese (which would have been $11). Whatever, I didn't have time for all that. The fries were probably the one thing the kitchen got right. The burgers were pretty good but served on rock hard buns like they had sat out awhile. A cook came out and apologized for the wait as well. I wouldn't order food here again, especially at the prices they are charging, when everyone in my group agreed it was just okay, at best. The sliders were poorly made with barely any cheese on the ones meant to have cheese. The fries were the only decent thing any of us got. I loved coming here for drinks and food with my boyfriend. I had the vegan burger with fried cauliflower and my boyfriend had the Cajun burger with onion rings, hummus to start. Our waitress also reminded me that the vegan burgers bun isn't vegan (which is fine with me) but it made me feel more at ease knowing that my server was very knowledgeable of the menu! We had two pitchers, one Lynchburg Lemonade and one John Daly! SO GOOD. I preferred the John Daly, I like the Lynchburg, but it was very tart. when our waitress came around asked how everything was I told her that and she immediately suggested the John Daly because "the sweet tea in it takes the away a lot of the tart taste". (Knowledgeable server again!) The food was everything I wanted it to be! LOVED THE FRIED CAULIFLOWER! I was very full and satisfied and regretful that I wore tight jeans and a skin tight tank top, lol. After we paid for our meal we were encouraged to check out the rest of the 5 floors of the building, we went all the way to the top where there's another full bar and a roof top patio! Lots of bowling lanes. And since we were there on a Saturday night there was a cover band playing on the first floor. So much fun to dance along. Attended one of their preview nights before officially opening. The atmosphere is steller and the servers were super helpful and friendly. The event was to provide an opportunity to fine tune service and food. Our food came out a bit on the cool side even though we received our food extremely quick. We tried the shrimp tacos, sticky wings, pepperoni flatbread along with hummus and pork skin appetizers. The menu is very well rounded and can satisfy a crowd that have different tastes. I truly hope that they perfect getting the food to come out hot. Lastly, I am hopeful that their beer selection expands beyond a few locals and the run of the mill domestics. LOVED me some Red Stick Social! The drink menu is great, prices are reasonable, food on point and the service can be the best part of the night!!! On the first visit our waitress was amazing and friendly, everything you could ask for. On our second visit, we learned if they are busy and you are bowling and eating service can get a little slow. They are courteous about it but not great at estimating wait times yet. The Yard games, bowling, and ping pong are such a fun restaurant concept vibe! The cornbread, fried pickles, fried cauliflower and how burgers are all must-try's (OH and just order the pitcher!) read more
