I played a round at red tail about a month ago. I am very new to golf and have been playing all summer so I was excited to try a new course for me. The course is very nice and well kept I will say, but if you're a beginner like me I would go to more chill and welcoming courses. Everybody I interacted with here was either rude or didn't seem like they wanted me there. Our tee time was 7:30 and was showed up to the box at 7:30 so running a little late I understand that's bad on my part. Every other golf course I've played at so far has been super nice about things like that, either having people go in place of us or combining us with a group or something and not making us feel too bad about it. The lady that was Marshall this morning was unbelievably rude, yelling at us to hurry up even following us down the whole first hole telling us to hurry up in the middle of our backswings even. That definitely set the mood for the round, we eventually let the group that was behind us play through anyway so the Marshall could have done that from the beginning and maybe been a little nicer. Overall actually a fun course to play I just won't be coming back. read more

The course isn't taking care of very well. For summer camps the coaches can be pretty rude and disrespectful. The person who runs bunkers, bar and grill is super rude and seemed mad when asking him about the price of food. I would rather go to other golf courses. read more

Every time we have come here it's a good time for not a crazy amount of money. My kids both like golf, but my daughter is a perfectionist and also likes to do her BEST at anything she tries. So she always takes feedback well and works hard at improving. It's close by and a good price and the staff are always friendly! read more

Super impressed with their summer golf camps! The camp was soooo organized and fun! My 12 year old loved it. (We even got daily reports with what they worked on!) Loved that the kids received balls, a glove and golf shirt! Such a nice touch. I would definitely recommend them to others and we'll be back next summer! Also, we love hitting balls in the range! I had a fantastic fitting with Austin a few weeks ago. I went to Red tail to 'demo' a new Ping driver. I was paired with Austin and he started mixing and matching the shafts and heads combinations. I'd then I'd hit some balls and see what seemed to work. He was keeping an eye on the computer for ball distance, angle speed etc. I ended up with a Ping head / shaft combo that is working for me and diminishing my slicing. I have been overcompensating for my slice for so long and now find balls actually go where I am aiming.........pretty sweet!!! Great experience at RT and with Austin!!! read more

RedTail Golf Center in Beaverton offers a range of facilities including a driving range, putting practice green, golf course, golf shop, and lessons that cater to both beginners and experienced players. This review is about a driving range, putting practice green, and lessons. I have not played on their golf course. I recently took an introductory golf class (6-week) here and have visited four times so far. The introductory golf class is offered multiple times throughout the month, making it easy to find one that fits my schedule. However, with many instructors teaching, the experience can vary teacher by teacher, and it's hard to know who will be teaching each class from the website. My instructor, AC, was great. He clearly covered each week's teaching objectives (swing, swing advanced, putting, short game so far). His key points were so clear and helpful that I wrote them down on my way home to mentally review what I learned and to apply the learning points in my own practice. It is a great learning experience with him. I'm in a 1-8 group class, so there's less individual attention, as expected, but AC did a great job addressing everyone's questions and weaknesses attentively. AC also informs us of different practice drills and encourages students to practice as much as possible after class. The driving range is covered and open until 10 PM, allowing for practice even on rainy days or late at night. The cost for balls at the driving range and for lessons is relatively low, which makes entry into the sport more affordable. The pro shop is well-stocked with a wide selection of equipment and apparel, and the staff are friendly. They also have a machine to analyze your swing form. However, there's one downside I've noticed every time I've visited. The stairs to the driving range are at the far ends, so people frequently walk in front of you to enter or exit the range while the instructor is talking. This includes other golfers, carts with balls, and garbage carts, which can be quite loud and distracting--happening easily more than 10 times in 10 minutes. This significantly disrupts the learning experience. Reserving a spot in the middle of the range for lessons or coordinating cleaning times to avoid lesson periods would help. Additionally, some practice facilities could use updating. But, given their economical pricing, it's not a major complaint. Overall, RedTail Golf Center is a solid choice for cost-effective golfing and learning with all the necessary facilities for my practice. read more

The reservation system had comments that were ignored, causing the front desk to take a while to check us in, the starter made a stink about us being 5 minutes late. We accidentally left two used rental wedges on their greens and they charged us $225 for them. I can understand holding customers accountable but we spent an hour hunting for them, this was the first time golfing with my son, and that's a complete rip off to replace used clubs. I'll never go to this golf course again. read more

My twin Girls recently took a half day golf camp at Redtail as part of their Junior Golf Summer Camp and I cannot recommend parents enough to this awesome program. Our girls were 5 1/2 and had swung a club a few times but nothing serious, by the end of the week they are excited about golf, continuing lessons and coming back to camp. The instructors Olivia, Ellis and Braden were excited to greet campers each day and had high positive energy from start to finish with every single camper. They always had great things to say about the kid's day and we walked home each day with a review of what they covered and how they did in various activities. You could see every single camper was excited at pickup to review the days activities and cheer on their fellow campers when they were awarded "camper of the day" for various positive actions throughout the day. Their uplifting tactics to teaching a variety of skill levels left every student encouraged and confident to continue having fun. I would suggest this camp to anyone with kids are testing the waters or full on into golf, the leadership that was exercised from instructors was transmitted clearly to each camper to encourage one another to be safe and keep trying and most of all have fun. Thanks to yelp thank you day I was reminded of a new to me place I found via yelp : red tail golf! I signed up for their six introductory classes offer for 179 dollars. I am on class four of six with Reed and my experience and review is solely based on the driving range, store, staff, and value. The diving range itself for a beginner is fine. Some of the bays I have hit from seem more worn than others. But I enjoy the various short and long holes to aim for. Staff have all been very friendly, helpful and patient fr helping me find a glove from the shop to the instruction each class. I have only done driving so far so I am looking forward to being on the course and learning more soon. read more

This could possibly be the biggest scam on earth, aisles of shoes, shirts and golf stuff. None at a discount price, the biggest kicker is it's just all there. It looks like if Dollar General opened a golf store inside. The staff while pleasant in one on one conversations away from the register, don't great you as you walk in. The main guy overseeing the girls behind the counter talked down to the poor checkout girl when she made a mistake. And the amount of people, I've traveled the country for golf and played some cool places. This is a tourist trap 'n a half if you've ever seen one. read more

This review is for their club fitting only. I made an appointment with Jason Burnett based on a number of recommendations. The fitting process met all my expectations (and I would consider myself pretty picky and particular when it comes to my equipment). He was very patient and seemed personally invested in finding the perfect clubs for my needs. There was no upselling and he explained his process as we went along. Yes there are other businesses that may offer an even higher level of fitting or exotic shaft options but you will be paying a premium for that service. I'll be sure to come back in the future when I'm in the market for some new irons or hybrids! read more

I've come back to golf for good after a 10 year hiatus. I decided to go all in this past March 2024 and Red Tail is in between my work office and home. I probably have been to the driving range and chipping/putting green on average of 5x a week between March - Nov. I've played the course around 6-7 times as well this year. The facilities are in great shape for a course that gets a LOT of use. All that being good and well in terms of location, convenience and a nice track that is closed to my home, the real reason I'm writing this review is the staff. No matter what interaction I've had over the past 6 months, its always been a positive experience with the people that work there. Its refreshing to interact with a business where its obvious that the management trusts its employees to make decisions that enhance the customer experience. Whether its a lost item, ball machine occasional malfunction, or signing in for a round of golf, the staff is always solution oriented and quick to ensure the customer leaves the interaction happy. I've seen the same when I'm waiting in line in the pro shop as well. I tip my hat to the management for empowering their people to act like owners with great attitude and meeting the customers need(s). In addition, fond memories of my son taking the summer kids camps and enjoying every minute of it and instilling a lifetime love of golf with that experience. Was out of town for 10 months in Oregon, this was my go-to for driving ranges. Tons of bays and two levels to hit from (be warned, they close the second level for youth golf some days). The course I thought was pretty fun and the starter was super friendly. My only gripe was the greens were in pretty rough shape. Not the worst though. Their pro shop is so packed you'll knock something over if you're not careful--which is a good thing! Their selection is ridiculous for a golf course pro shop, just tons of golf gear and merch, and as soon as you walk in the staff always asks if you need help. They definitely have the friendliest and most helpful staff out of any golf course I've ever been to. read more

Pros: Big Solid Driving range. Great fitting facility. Cons: The Golf Course. Over saturated mushy brown greens. Some tee boxes look like rental house back yards...(filled with weeds). Fairways in overall bad shape. Greens dying and brown in many (not all) cases. The layout is tough. For one of the most centrally located courses on the west side, it makes for some VERY Slow rounds. Go in eyes wide open, and try to catch an early morning round and it can be enjoyable. read more

You do not want to take lessons here. I was an okay golfer and I really enjoyed the sport, but thought my game could be better. Red Tail Golf Center was once an old farm, acquired by the city in order to create an 18-hole golf course to replace the 9-hole West Hills Golf Course which was closed to make room for the zoo's relocation. In 1999 the course was completely redesigned into an 7,100, 18 hole championship style course. The driving range facility is one of the best covered public facilities in the area and the pro shop is well regarded by locals for all of your equipment needs. The golf course itself is in rough shape. There is no such thing as a frost delay at Red Tail. Expect a slow pace of play. With the right expectations you can still have an enjoyable round at Red Tail. read more

The course and the range are just ok. The course is poorly maintained and pricey. The pace of play here is no good. It seems like it's always backed up. The range is fine. We have spent loads of money at this establishment but don't seem to ever get our moneys worth. What makes this rating so low is the combination of sad greens, dirty range, and the incredibly rude staff. We have no clue as to why the staff is rude to us every time we walk in. It seems like everyone who works there doesn't want to be there and they openly speak poorly of others. Today is was very slow, there was a group of 4 that would not let anyone pass and after the 3rd time the Marshal came by he still didn't make them play faster. Simply the worst value in American golf. It's requiring I write more for it to be posted as a review so that's what I'm doing. Trust me the first sentence is all you need to know. Driving range is ok at best. Never played a worse course for the value. Not even close. Staff is always rude. I'm convinced the only reason any one goes is because of the location and maybe the range. Pro tip. Don't buy clubs through them. He certainly did for the other younger, feminine students. I asked for a refund but the manager, another rude man, insisted that I call and talk to him personally. This course is amazing for getting great deals on golf gear, club fittings, and lessons. Knowledgeable instructors and best deals you'll find in town on quality equipment. Although, it's the worst in town for the experience of actually playing golf. The course gets so much play that it's always in horrible condition, very slow pace, and the marshalls are the golf course equivalent of mall security with inflamed superiority complexes. That's the jist of this review, but my most recent experience was ridiculous if you'd like to stick around for just how bad this place is... After being unable to reach the clubhouse all day to schedule a Thursday twilight tee time (no one answered the phone literally 3 or 4 attempts throughout the day) my buddy and I showed up to try and walk on at 5:30p. The clubhouse let us on and said we are good to go. So far so good. We were told by the first marshall at #1 to start on #11 because it was so backed up. Sure, no problem, we just want to start playing. We ride to 11, and there's a group on the fairway and a group already on the tee. Welp, that's not gonna work. We notice one fairway over that 17 and 18 wide open. So we head to 17 tee to start playing, which seems to be the protocol for the day to just find a tee box. We're about to tee off and a second marshall rolls up and is visibly angry that we just skipped over to 17. We told him we were told to start at 11, but it was backed up so we just went to an open tee box. He became very agitated with us, rambling about how it would make things worse etc, but then started blaming us for this, saying "you picked the wrong day to play, you shouldnt have come" (things you should never say to a paying customer that you just let on to the course). He interrogated us, asking what time our tee time was supposed to be, and we explained we didn't have the opportunity to schedule a tee time because no one answered the phone (there's no online tee time platform either, of course). He then accused us of lying about not being able to make a tee time, saying "Not RedTail, they always answer the phone every time I call." My buddy offered to show him his call log, and he just scoffed back at us. He was quite a peach with borderline belligerent behavior for his role. It's like buddy, your team let us on! We paid the greens fee! This is a YOU problem, don't treat us like we are in the wrong when you have no handle on your golf course. Once cooler heads somewhat prevailed, he told us to go back to 10. Okay, so we start heading back and again get intercepted by the first marshall, who was calmer and apologetic. "That was my fault sorry" he admitted, as he misunderstood where the other groups were and knew we just got reamed by the other marshall. The first marshall then suggests that we should DROP ON THE FAIRWAY of 13 to start. What a joke. I mean, I know it's just a twilight round, but starting in the middle of a fairway after paying to play the course is unacceptable. We ended up just going to the 13 tee box and letting the group behind us know what had been going on. They were understanding since they were feeling a similar sentiment towards the course management. So, on a Thursday evening we were on the course for about 30 minutes and 4 different holes running around like bozos before we swung a club. I can say with confidence I'll never play this course again unless someone pays for my round. There are too many better courses in town to deal with this place. read more

As a beginner with no more than driving range/TopGolf experience, the lessons have made a world of a difference. Cindy breaks down the swing into terms that a non-golfer can understand. Also, provides tips specific for women. Excited to finish up the classes and hit the course! 2) Driving Range: 4 stars. Plenty of stalls, and if there's a wait, it's not long. Plenty of different targets to aim towards. The mats get a lot of wear and tear, so getting stuck with a worn down mat sucks for practice. read more

The range here is decent and has a lot of space. Normal prices for a large and small bucket. However, when I went into the pro shop to get some expert advice and help buying something I was met with a rude employee who couldn't care less about helping me. Pro tip: wait until the customer is not in the store to openly talk trash about them to your fellow employee. read more

BJ was very helpful to my husband about discussing golf lessons. My husband and I found some clothes for 50% off which was awesome and every time we come here we like to have a nice drink in the lounge. And one day we will be brave enough to go out on the golf course!! We continue to return to this course for clothes and clubs. More recently my husband was utilizing the Track man technology and to help diagnose his swing and He Loved it. He realized what he was doing incorrectly and is busy planning to come back for a personal club fitting!!! Went in for a driver fitting after watching a friend get fitted for irons. They gave me plenty of time to warm up before my fitting with Ben. Once we started, Ben was extremely professional and explained some of the more intricate points to fitting and provided me continually throughout the fitting with tips for my swing.
