WOW. Hard to believe the last time I was here it was 1997. Immediately following the epic battle when Tiger won his 6th straight U.S. Amateur tournament (three Junior, then three unrestricted). I believe he is the all-time major championship winner with 21 not Jack - with all respect to Jack. This is hallowed ground for golf nuts. The courses are amazing. One private. One public. Call a friend who can get you out on Witch Hollow. This place is a golfer's paradise. It's a golf club not a country club if you're following me... Anyone visiting the Portland area it's a must play - and when you're done take the long track down to Bandon after. Another gem in the state of Oregon. Both Pumkin tracks have received "best of" awards for public and private courses and only 20 minutes from downtown Portland. read more

First stop on my annual Birthday Week Golf trip was a round at Pumpkin Ridge - Witch Hallow. Famous for hosting Tiger Woods final US Amateur Victory! I've played the public side, Ghost Creek a number of times, but this was our first round on the private course. What makes Pumpkin (both 18's) so special, is that you feel like you're a million miles away. The course is beautiful, and in pristine condition, but the setting is what's amazing!! We played with two members, a married couple that were awesome to play with! Friendly, fun and gave us info on each hole and how to play it. I also enjoyed our meal in the restaurant, and the service, including the bar cart was excellent. I realize not everyone can get on the private course, but if you can I highly recommend it. If not, Ghost is also wonderful, and definitely worth your time making the trek out to North Plains. read more

Decided to get in a round of golf . I got there and was gonna get some breakfast but the chef was not there yet and it was 10 mins after 11am and they were supposed to start serving at 11am. Oh well. Went to pay and check in at the pro shop. The guy said I am all set and will be sharing at cart with some dude out on the driving range. I told him dude I don't want to share a cart as I hit the ball all over the place. He let me get my own cart and start 45 mins prior to my tee time. Yeah!! I was stoked. Went and played 8 holes and at the beginning of the 9th hole I ordered the ham, bacon, cheese and egg croissant sandwich. I finished the 9th hole and went into the restaurant to grab my sandwich and head on back out to the course. Well, it had been 15 mins later and with no other patrons there my sandwich still had not even been started. So I waited another 15 mins for it. Well I have to say it was one hot, big and tasty breakfast sandwich. I even called back to the restaurant and told the hostess/waitress to tell the chef lady that it was one good sandwich. I continued on with the rest of my round of golf. The greens with just plugged and aeriated as well. It's was still a fun round and the course was in good shape. The greens keeper is a cool dude too. They use what they call as "dynamic pricing", which meant they charged us more than what their published pricing was.

I recently visited the course with some friends to try their driving range. As we arrived, we were awoken to multiple workers inside the clubhouse staring at us, almost like we were doing something wrong. We then walked inside to ask for some golf balls, which we offered to pay for, but they said no and turned us away, causing us to have to get some from another store. They then asked us as we were leaving if we had ever been somewhere nice. Which instantly enraged my friend, who confronted them, saying that was something we did for them to say that, and they said no, but how you're dressed isn't allowed at the course. We were wearing shorts and a golf shirt, for information on what we were wearing. Which didnt seem very bad, as we saw a kid in baggy jeans near us running around on the putting green. The course is nice, and they seem to take care of it well. Still, the customer service and workers need to be looked at and worked on because this is unacceptable at a very prestigious course in Oregon who has hosted tournaments with people like Tiger Woods. read more

While the public course landscape at Pumpkin Ridge is beautiful, the facility needs to be managed better. The owners have neglected to install appropriate drainage systems for the spring and fall playing conditions in Oregon. Walking from the cart path to the fairways or greens is muddy to the point of covering the top of golf shoes and the fairways regularly swallow golf balls at this time of the year. There are other golf courses in the Portland area that offer much better drainage and similar beauty. read more

On my list of the best in the Northwest, and a place you can play. The staff is very friendly and they take care of those little things that make your day a little easier. Need a pull cart for your clubs? Right outside. Range balls? Included with your round. As for the course, it's a beautiful layout, with good length and challenging approach shots. Missing the green isn't too punitive though, as at some high end courses, but it will cost you. You'll pay a fine but not a death sentence. The course is easy to walk and my round was very quick, admittedly on a weekday afternoon. Ghost creek grill is prepared to help you get over those missed opportunities, with good food and cold beverages. The site of many amateur and some professional golf tournaments, Pumpkin Ridge should definitely be on the must play list for avid golfers. read more

The do not respond the members' concerns- even in person they say put it in writing and then do not reply. they burn thru employees cause they try to run on the cheap and overburden and understaff at all levels. At the members meeting where they announced, without consultation, the Saudi event, they also raised the dues. Talk about tin ear tone deaf. Actually, talk about who gives a damn about the members, just pay your dues and shut up. Members count for nothing other than revenue buckets. There is nothing special about being a member other than 2 golf courses, and if the greenskeeper, who is wonderful, were to quit, there would be nobody there at all. read more

The Ghost Creek golf course at Pumpkin Ridge is in really poor shape. The building and hard scapes are in disrepair. It used to be one of the best public golf courses in the country. On the 7th hole our golf cart died. The pro shop didn't want to give us our full fee back. I feel sorry for those who travel long distances to play here. read more

Absolutely beautiful course. It's so green. I didn't expect it to be so well polished so late in the fall here in the Portland Metro area. We came her on the perfect day... It was pouring on the drive over there however when we started to play, the sky was open and sunny! Miraculous November Day here in Oregon. Considering this is where the LPGA plays, I'm surprised someone of my lame caliber is even allowed to play here. Pumpkin Ridge is kind of in the middle of nowhere in NorthPlains, OR but it's well worth the drive. The only shortfall is this place is hella expensivo! read more

I went to Witch Hollow for a business meeting. The rating is for the food that was catered, which bordered on inedible. I had fish tacos, which had coleslaw in them. as fish tacos, they tasted wrong. as breaded fish served with coleslaw in a tortilla wrapper, the flavors failed to complement. the golf course looks great, but unfortunately my business meeting prevented me from enjoying. as far as food goes, avoid. read more

Yes. Yas. Si. Ja. Wherever you are from on this planet, if you are a golfer, you need to experience this course. Its FREAKING MAJESTIC at 6:45 am, and I'm sure its the same for sunset. The rough is no joke, so don't hit in it! It's like torrey pines...you might not find it. It's the most beautiful and challenging course I have played all year. I was very lucky to play the course on April 1st, after a week of 70 degree weather which is fairly uncommon for the pacific northwest on an el niño year. Greens are tough, some have two levels and the green side roughs are CRAZY. This is a course that challenges all golfers. The course is about 40 minutes from downtown portland, which is about a $45 uber. If you love the sport, do yourself a favor and come experience this beautiful gem. read more

Wow. Golfing the public side of Pumpkin Ridge this weekend reminded me of many aspects of the game of golf that I had conveniently forgotten about in my years playing primarily on one course in California (on vacation): 1. Golfing can be retarded expensive. I hear tell that the fees here in peak season are $150. That's out of hand. I would never pay that to golf this course. But twilight fees in the winter with cart are only $30. That's beyond reasonable. This truly is a great course. 2. Not all golf courses are built the same. This is a very challenging course compared to your average muni deal. Lots of tricky, narrow fairways, hidden water and creek hazards, and plenty of beach. It makes for a good round, that's for sure. 3. Golf as a sport still hasn't given up on a lot of the BS pretense that goes along with it. I guess that a game that's still owned primarily by rich old white men is prone to be that way, but not allowing me to wear denim when I'm playing in the cold solitude of winter? Slacks and collar required? I get it, you want to class things up but when we're slogging through the mud, golf pants really don't matter. Seems like winter rules could afford us some jeans. Beyond these fond (or not so fond) reminiscences, I really did enjoy my round here. This is a very nice (close to 5-star) course and offers a lot of great challenges. The amenities that come along with playing here (nice carts, free range balls, separate practice greens for chipping and putting, and a well-maintained facility) are welcome. Hints for playing this course: check online specials before calling for a tee time. We found cheaper rates that way. Wear slacks or golf pants - no jeans allowed! Keep any outside booze on the DL - they frown on that. Wear a collared shirt. It's required. If you're golfing in the winter, bring a towel. That bent grass gets wet. Show up early to take advantage of the awesome warm-up facilities like the free range and practice greens. And the clubhouse sells booze (take a bloody on to the course with you) beer, food and cigars. Really anything you could need for a day on the links. read more

For all the hype about this place it was nice to not be disappointed. Very nice course for the advanced golfer. The greens were as good as I've ever played, fast and true. The fairways are immaculate and well-kept. The reason I'm not giving it five stars is the price is a little steep; kind of like buying a car for the name and not the practicality. It was great to say I've played it but there are other courses just as playable at a better price. read more

I played in Ghost Creek which is a public course. Great course! Tough but still enjoyable! Greens are fast and fairways are very well maintained. I found 9th hole, par 4 to be most difficult. Best tee shot would be to put the ball in 1st hole fairway, which is adjacent to the right, and then go for the green from there! read more

A great place to golf. I played here on Tuesday afternoon so I knew it was going to be cheaper than weekends but at least $100...I was surprised that it was only $75. Maybe people have hyped this palce up but that was a good surprise for me paying for four people =D The conditions of the course are great - Tee placement was a lot easier on the front than it was on the back. I have only played Witch Hollow and Dammm!! this is a tough course with mega hazards everywhere.Ridges, water, trees..you name it! Bring lots and lots of balls. The course is beautifully manicured and the greens are speedy!! The scenary is gorgeous so if you're playing poorly...just look up and enjoy the natrual surroundings. You'lll want to make dandelion necklaces, sing koombaya and hold hands on the green... :) read more

A great event to house people. The service was very nice and the food was up to par. The salmon was fresh and good as well as the steak and potatoes. The straw berry short cake to house everyone. It was so good. Plenty of food for everyone to eat which was wonderful. The only probably is, it ended up being hot with all those people there. A great place to go. read more

Given the tough economic times, I can not believe these guys are charging $150 a round. You can play any number of great courses in the area for a fraction of the cost Pumpkin is charging. Pumpkin Ridge is one of the premiere courses in the Portland area. It has two courses, but Ghost Creek is the only one available to the public. It's an immaculate course located out in the farm fields. Once you are out there you feel pretty solitary in the woods. There are plenty of tight shots to make. It's really expensive. If I had to choose, I'd prefer The Reserve. It's a very challenging track though. Plenty of woods, water, and elevation changes. I would map this one out because it's kinda in the boonies off of the Sunset Highway. If you have the cash, this is one course you should play. read more

This course would be great for $50/round or less.....$106 - no way. I thought it would be tougher as well, no harder (IMO) than Heron Lakes Great Blue or what not. It was EXTREMELY muddy an they didn't tell us that (but the greens were rock hard) - I would have reconsidered, lastly they put dollups of white foam all over the fairways to help guide the sprayers, you couldn't find your ball amongst all the foam balls - a very cheesy and annoying solution. read more

Ghost creek is by far the best public course around. Amazing course scattered with firm greens and a top notch practice facility. The staff is great and truly compliment this world class golf course. Breathtaking taking views for the golfer to inhale. I am fortunate enough to call this my home course. Everything here is top notch. Remember to leave it better than u found it.
