Beef plate with potato salad, corn bread and baked apples.

Where do I begin. My wife and I pass by Red Top all the time and never had a chance to stop. So, a friend had recommended going there so we stopped for some brisket. I really need to start this with a couple of high points. The place was spotless and boasts a 99 on the health report. It's small and quaint inside. Reminds you of one of those hole in the wall places with great food! The young girl taking orders was very pleasant and got the order correct and got it to us fast. Now I am really hoping that we came by on a bad day cause what we got does not equal the stars they have. We both ordered the "Beef" plate with two sides. The beef, or brisket as we were told it was, was shredded, which if you like it that way, it's fine. However, that's not how you serve brisket. It was also kind of bland. I'll leave the sauce out of it just because it's tangy. Not a tangy sauce fan, that's just me. The corn bread, although tasted good, was very dry even with extra butter. I posted a pick of the coleslaw for two specific reasons...it's green and had pickles in it. The potato salad wasn't too bad, and the apples were not overly sweet, so there's that. Like I said, I hope it was just a bad day!

Just left Old Glory Distillery, excellent tour, and asked for a lunch tip. Five miles off 24 is the Red Top BBQ. Small town clean efficient cheap.... Top notch food. Ribs, corn bread, two sides $11.25. Carry out or sit down. You won't be sorry.

I found out about this place because they catered an event I went to and found their sauce to be really good with their smoked sausage. A little spicy, with the nice smokiness in their sausage. I didn't get to try much else because it was almost all gone by the time I got to it. I searched it on Yelp, found two very good reviews and bookmarked it.. I went there with my gf since it was one of the few non chains in the area. It's a bit out of the way but definitely not hard to find since there's a giant red smoker in the shape of a tractor. The small, storefront has 5 tables and no menu, just go up there and order. The woman got the pulled pork sandwich with fries and after telling the lady at the counter I was torn between the smoked sausage and the pork she suggested the two meat platter and pointed at a very small section on the whiteboard that had their plates-not much it was a 2 meat plate and a 3 meat. The plate came with 2 sides, so I went with the hash brown casserole and the mac and cheese. The sausage was as good as I remember it with nice snap despite the smoking and the sauce went with it and the pulled pork. The meat seemed to just soak up the sauce though without making everything a soggy mess and the hash brown casserole and mac and cheese were both gooey, cheese compliments to the main meats and my woman friend kept sneaking bites of the potato and the mac and cheese despite her order of curly fries. Great meats, great sides and it will be on the top of my list to take visitors.

Spectacular little spot with amazing food and friendly service. If we are back this way we will go again! Had the brisket and the chicken, but great and the sides were perfect!

Wow. I love southern food and this place blew me away. Super tender pulled chicken and brisket with their mild sauce was phenomenal. Sweet potato casserole was literally to die for with the sweet taste of caramelized pecans. Green beans and the CORN BREAD PANCAKE were so freaking good I could eat here everyday. I have a huge sweet tooth so obviously got both fudge and pecan pie and the fudge blew me away. So chocolatey and delicious.

    Darn good bbq

good pork and beef brisket(chopped big) complimented by sauces(on the side) that dded to the meat--sides were all good and housemade--their burgoo was extra good!! Hashbrown casserole, mac&cheese and baked beans were above average. Fudge pie was tasty but kind of over sweet Didn't try chicken or sausage--next trip

Walked in early on a Sunday afternoon and we quickly greeted at the counter to place our order…read more Ease of order was super, the individual taking our order was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. My gripe about the entry is that we weren't hit with the immediate aroma of a BBQ place...that's one of the best things about going out for BBQ, but oh well. We placed our order for one large Onion Ring starter, two brisket plate meals, a Not So Naked Tater, two fountain drinks, and a water...it came to about $75.00 so I was really looking forwrd to some good portions and tasty food. Those little cheesy cornbead appetizers came to the table first. I didn't eat any of them so I won't comment on them. They were quicly followed by the LARGE Onion Ring starter with 10 rings. That's not even a whole onion...they're making a killing on onion rings if they're back there slicing onions, battering them up and frying them in house. They tasted good, but the portion size was awful. Our food was not far behind...it arrived hot and looked delicious (which is a good thing, because it's the eyes that eat first). The Not So Naked Tater was jampacked with goodness and the person who ordered it said that it was very tasty and a nice sized tater. My brisket tasted really good. It was seasoned just right, but it had a hint of smoke flavor...not exactly what I was hoping it would be. It was clearly smoked, no doubt about that...but it didn't have as much smoke flavor as I was expecting. I was also a bit disappointed by the portion size. If my meal were a combo two-meat meal where brisket were one meat and maybe smoked sausage (which I found odd that they don't have on the menu), then the portion of brisket would have been suitable...but it was a single-meat meal with two sides. My sides of mac-n-cheese and corn on the cob were good...with the corn being the better of the two. Was also a bit disappointed that there was only ONE BBQ sauce offered at the table. I thought they offered a variety of sauces for sale at the counter, so why not showcase those same sauces at the table? I don't know...but it doesn't seem like good business to me. Overall, the service was fantastic, but frankly, I was disappointed considering the hype that surrounded this place when it came to Clarksville. Food was overpriced for the portions, likely won't go back.

Great little chicken eatery in Clarksville! Nice folks work here - very polite and accommodating!!…read more The restaurant is neat and clean. Lots of tasty offerings on their menu and the smell makes your mouth water! Had the 1/4 chicken La Brasa with broccoli and red roasted pepper hummus. It comes with pita triangles, which I passed off. The la brasa marinade was on point and rivals any good Peruvian restaurant. Very flavorful with a good spice kick. The broccoli was al dente and flavorful with a hint of butter and garlic. Not to be outdone, the fresh roasted pepper hummus was amazing!! Dipping celery in this hummus would elevate your experience to 5-star! My companion chose the Jerk chicken marinade and was slightly disappointed that there wasn't enough of a spice kick, but the flavor was tasty on the palate. The mac n cheese he had wasn't stellar, but was solid. Cole slaw he found quite tasty! Buffalo wings he added on was satisfying for him, as was the potato salad. All in all, this place is well-worth visiting repeatedly!! Prices for all this delicious fresh cooked food are very reasonable - 1/4 chicken plate with 2 standard sides is $9.99! The quality is definitely there, and the team obviously cares about what they make! We will be back!! I want to try the tandoori next time!!

Summary: Fast food variations on chicken with sides of Southern comfort foods…read more An off night. That's what I think we had after reading the other reviews. Stopping here for supper, first there were the dark bathrooms that wouldn't light. Along with that electrical issue, an ear-splitting and head jarring smoke or other alarm went off every few minutes for about 15 minutes. Order taking was interrupted often when the counter employee shifted to incoming phone calls. That employee didn't know pulled chicken portion sizes in ounces and approximated with his hands. All of this created a dubious dining experience before we even finished ordering! This spot offers a variety of chicken recipes: roasted, BBQ, Caribbean, pulled, fried, and more. Sides includes Southern standards like mac and cheese, yellow rice, greens, coleslaw, and others. The pulled (shredded) chicken was overly seasoned with black pepper. Roasted chicken was a bit dry. The BBQ chicken laden with sweet sauce was the best of the chicken choices. Creamy coleslaw was 'meh' and lacked flavor. Rice, too, was just okay. Northern beans were nicely seasoned and well cooked. Pita triangles seemed an odd accompaniment since no sauce or dip was provided and they were too small to make sandwiches. Overall, the restaurant seemed understaffed, which could account for the messy tables and dirty floor.
