    Side Door only for now!

Buy some pastries and a quiche. The biggest one they have. Have a slice a day until there is no more quiche. I brought a quiche to a weekend in Shenandoah National Park and it saved me from having to wait an hour for lunch in a park restaurant during a busy weekend.

Stoped by half past moon for coffee and of course had to come to Red Truck for a breakfast sandwhich. I love this bakery and stop in every time I'm visiting! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has that country old time vibe with fast service and a friendly staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've had my eye on that pecan pie, so definitely getting that next visit!

Somehow I've never visited Red Truck Rural Bakery before - so today, I stopped in to check them out. This location is on the main drag in downtown Marshall, VA. They offer a ton of baked goods (pies, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, croissants, and more). They also offer hot, pre-made breakfast biscuits - either with bacon or sausage - and with some of their pepper jelly. I was unsure about how a pepper jelly would work out from a flavor profile perspective - but my doubts were unfounded. I ordered the Bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit - and even pre-made - it was fantastic! The biscuit itself was awesome! Outstanding biscuit texture! And the pepper jelly was amazing on this sammich! I also purchased for later - one of their pre-made frozen Chicken pot pies. They also have a pretty awesome selection of dessert style pies - including one I've never tried before - a Peanut pie! I mentioned when I was checking out - that when we were kids - my Mom used to make these incredible Mince Meat pies - and that I've never seen one since. One of the ladies behind the counter shared that they make Mince Meat pies during the holidays! I was so excited! I will be back for more breakfast biscuits - and some pies! There is a good bit of seating here. Paid with Apple Pay. Service was good! #RedTruckRuralBakery

A SPIRITED MINCEMEAT PIE TO TRY! I want to thank Red Truck Bakery for their superb customer service care! I have never experienced the level of dedication from a place of business to make a customer happy! Your personal attention to make an unfortunate situation for my family's purchase to a wonderful memory is greatly appreciated! deborah

A group of friends and I were at a local AirBnB and the owner had had a copy of the most recent cookbook and had left a load of the lemon blueberry cake for us to sample. We were interested by the cookbook and took a day trip down to the bakery around 3 PM on a Saturday so most things had been sold out. We bought some vanilla chai muffins, a gluten-free chocolate raspberry muffin, and a box of the honeysuckle and sweet tea cake to take back with us. I foolishly thought the muffins would make it back to the car. While waiting for my friends to finishing their selections, I dig into the chocolate chip raspberry muffin without low expectations (I've never had a tasty gluten-free pastry) and was immediately blown away. The muffin was very moist and sweet. I let my friends sample some of my muffin then quickly devoured it in case they wanted more. I moved on to the vanilla chai muffin and was not let down. It was more airy than the gluten free muffin but still was exploding with flavor. We had to leave otherwise I would have bought more things along the way but was definitely thinking a stop by the bakery would be a must on the way home. Upon arriving back to our Airbnb, we unwrapped the honeysuckle and sweet tea cake and each took a slice with an afternoon cup of tea. There are small amounts of what tastes like candies citrus zest towards the bottom and it was moist and sweet like the other goods we had sampled. We also dug into the lemon blueberry loaf that was much lighter and less dense than the honeysuckle and sweet tea cake. I didn't have the opportunity to stop by again but am happy to see they do ship some of their products from their website!

We stopped in right before they closed on Saturday. The staff were so welcoming. We felt bad cutting it so close but were excited to get some tasty treats. We got the caramel pecan cake, a brown butter cookie and coffee. This bakery is really cute with lots of amazing choices including the their cookbook.

They say they have the best coffee on the East Coast....dont believe it. I got a cup of coffee yesterday and it wasn't even like warm and the carafe was flashing 0:00 meaning it needed New Fresh Coffee. I told the young lady at the counter and she literally says "I can Microwave" it for you !! I also advised her that the 1/2 & 1/2 cream carafe was empty and she says ok ... I sat there and drank my Microvwaved coffee for 20-25 minutes and she literally didn't replace either carafe. They weren't busy and during that time she had 2 customers...otherwise she stood there. Have had their baked goods in the past... WAY OVER PRICED !! Plenty of seating but all are hard metal seats. Only street parking. Marshall needs a Dunkin... it would put these places out of business !

    Open inside again!

Remarks made about location but what about the pastries, taste, variety, etc. do they deliver for larger orders?

I think variety is their biggest downfall. Their offerings are limited and remain largely the same. Good if you want consistency but not great if you want to try new things.

A paper sign on the door is great when there's an early or extended closure, but that paper sign should be complemented by posts on the website and/or social media. In the past few months, we've probably come by on (at least) 10 occasions during business hours only to find that the business was closed...That's a 40-minute round trip from where we live in neighboring Stephens City, only to come home disappointed. I've never called and had a staff member answer the phone, so if we can't even call ahead... G&G needs a system that communicates closures to demonstrate more respect for patrons' time. We've hired G&G to cater our professional events and even our wedding brunch. It isn't too much to ask for a heads up when they know they won't be open during regular hours, right? Ps. Please bring back the banana peppers in the G&G empanada!

Fresh baked bread is on the rack when you walk in with many choices of breads (so many sourdough offerings ) and other baked goods such as cinnamon rolls, scones, shortbread, coconut macaroons, pepperoni rolls, etc. We arrived around noon on a Saturday and had plenty of choices. I was interested in their basic sourdough - two sizes available. The smaller ones were still too warm to slice, so I opted for the larger loaf. It's deceiving just how large this loaf is when it's on the rack, but sliced and bagged it was almost the length of my arm! And very reasonably prized at $13. They come in a freezer bag too! I also learned pepperoni rolls are one of the WV state food and this establishment won best pepperoni roll 4 times, so we tried those as well. So very good - it was a pretzel roll with prepperoni inside. We were lucky enough to get 2 or their 4 remaining cinnamon rolls. The lady helping us said they are worth every calorie and she was not exaggerating one bit! We took a bite of them in the parking lot before we left and I walked back in for the last two to take home and freeze. (Sorry for those after me!). They also offer local and delicious sounding jams, cheese, cheese, milks, and some little trays of cheese that would be perfect for an impromptu picnic with one of their pull apart baguettes. They also offer beverages in a cooler case. Super friendly team working there with absolutely high quality and delicious items. Definitely check them out if you visit Harper's Ferry or surrounding areas. I'm sure anyone local also knows how special this place is. Next time I'm back in that area, I'll definitely work Bolivar Bread Bakery into my plans! (There is some (limited) street parking out front and a small parking lot in the back of the building.)
