We used to come here often, but haven't been in about 5 years. So, when in the area recently I stopped in for a loaf of multi-grain sandwich bread (they make the loafs and slice or leave them whole, I got the sliced bread). I also got a couple small tubs of chicken salad to make sandwiches with. Since they have such good treats, I tried a piece of their apple bread pudding and ended up getting a slice of that, which was amazing! Lastly, I got their pumpkin chocolate chip bread, that too was amazing! I really like this place, it's a solid choice for baked goods. I like Red Truck a lot, but feel that ever since they became one of the top bakeries in the country and their prices went up to match this status (and they also got added to Gold Belly), I don't feel the quality matched the fame. These bakeries take me back to my childhood. I lived in Reston Va growing up and the oldest one I know is in Herndon Va. I use to go there all the time and get a bread called the "Apple Scrapple" it was so delicious. I can't find it anymore. We visited on Sunday and picked up three loaves of bread and they are all delicious. I don't think I've tasted anything I didn't like in this place. read more

I had absolutely the BEST time in this little bakery. The staff was so welcoming and friendly and they let me try some sweets and bread off the sample board before I purchased to make sure I liked it. They even make their own dog treats and let the pups in to get a free treat out of the jar. I ordered a sandwich and they were very accommodating to everything I asked for on it, they were such sweet people. They've got so many racks of fresh bread and they loved talking about their fresh ingredients and making things from scratch, they definitely take pride in the work and it shows. It's unfortunate that great food gets lost in messed up orders. Waited over 30 minutes for two bagels and two coffees. My bagel never showed up. $40 plus tip my wife said the food was awesome I wouldn't know. When I asked where my food was they said they forgot to ring it up even after reading the order and confirming two sandwiches. Disappointing especially with just moving to Warrenton. Was hoping this would be my new coffee stop but that feeling is the worst. They did offer for me to repay for it again and wait longer they also waited until then to tell me they don't know if they even have the ingredients to make my food. We were visiting Warrenton and wanted to grab some baked goods before heading out. The breads looked amazing and we went with the garlic cheddar rolls. The sweets selection had a bunch of "bars" and I saw there was a bread pudding option. I pretty much knew I wanted some, but they gave a sample and I had to get two. They were AMAZING. It is not the same. Yes, everyone is super nice, but pricing of a brownie $5 and it ended up being dry. The lemon raspberry muffon $6. $11 for 2 bakery goods. hmmmm I bake from scratch and have my own recipes so sorry I won't be back. Sadly, I went to bunco and a gal had entire pan of brownies. Saturday when I was out with my daughter we came into Great harvest. I needed coffee badly and since there was a little line, we looked around real quick. Nice racks of bread and cobbler. I bought the cheesey jalapeño bread and once at the counter I added a hot caramel latte. Yes. Even though it was 100° I still drink hot coffee. Can't stand cold brews/coffees. This was a really great cup of coffee. I drank it all. It's such a small shop though. When paying I feel like I'm pushed out the store trying to get my receipt and put my wallet away. it was our first time being there and we were excited to try the food and drinks, but we weren't helped for over 15 minutes! the two registers on either end of the counter make it very confusing as to where you order, and the 2 baristas did not offer any help during our wait. it was a monday, so it wasn't very busy and there were maybe 2 other people in the store. it looks very nice and i'm sure the food is good, but I don't know if I will be returning due to the poor service. read more

The Bottom Line: I'll be honest, I stopped by thinking it was a local business and not a nation-wide franchise. However that doesn't mean this Main St. corner shop didn't have the local charm and the freshly made goods to earn top marks in my book. I was driving through town and I stopped by for lunch. I got the Steak and Cheese and it was one of the freshest sandwiches I've ever experienced. The sourdough bread tasted like it just came off the baking racks. So first off all I'm a pig bc I just ate at a restaurant and I had to get coffee and dessert, so stopped at GHB, and I'm sitting outside at one of their cute coffee tables. Amazing first impression, Mer took my order she's so nice, happy, welcoming, amazing sincere attitude and just ordering made me happy for the whole weekend, so thank you Mer, you're awesome and you will get very far with your good spirit. Everyone there is so friendly, my latte tastes amazing, and Mer Mer me try the pumpkin muffin, so delicious. Naomi made my latte, not sure what she put in it but it's the best latte I've ever had, much better than a $20 Starcrups latte, and she made it with oatmeal milk, Fancy!!! And delicious... I'm assuming all their bakery products are as good, they bake them fresh and they do an amazing job. I was just stopping by but now I'm in love with their awesome tastes, and their welcoming spirit. I pulled up at 12:10 - doors locked with a hand written sign saying Great Harvest was closing at 12 due to staff and homecoming recovery. Though there were still staff members and a customer in the store, I was told I could not be served on the phone and got a negative head shake looking in the window. You can't go wrong with Great Harvest's selection of baked goods. The apple crunch bread is to die for, as is the pumpkin chocolate chip loaf. I visited today for lunch to give their sandwiches a go and wasn't disappointed with the food by any means - the sandwich had a hearty amount of meat, the veggies were fresh, and of course the bread was top notch. What stood out to me was the service - the front cashier (young girl with a nose ring, did not catch her name unfortunately!) was manning the register and making all of the sandwiches, while the rest of the staff chatted in the back bakery area. She was hustling to get everything done, profusely apologizing to me and the other customers for the wait. I surely hope that management takes note of her hard work; she was practically running the store solo today and deserves to be recognized by more than just her customers. read more

I love bread, and Great Harvest makes some amazing bread! They're a regular stop for me during Farmers Market season, since they're regulars at Exit 40 Farmers Market which is one of my favorites. Now that the season is over, I still crave their amazing breads so I make regular trips to Warrenton where they have a shop right on Main Street. Their white and honey wheat are staples for lunch sandwiches and toast. I also love their cinnamon chip bread which makes fabulous French toast. This is the same bread they use to make their luscious bread pudding bars. In addition to bread, Great Harvest makes cookies, brownies, scones and muffins that vary by season but are always tasty. Obviously, Great Harvest is a great place to grab breakfast or a quick snack and they serve up great coffee to go with it, but there's a lot more on offer. For lunch you can find gourmet sandwiches made with your choice of breads, a selection of locally made accompaniments including chips and, if you should arrive with a canine companion, there are also gourmet-style doggie treats available. Finally, if you're gluten-free there's usually at least one gluten-free treat available for purchase and, with advance notice, they can make just about anything you'd like gluten-free.
