I'm very particular about my nail and toe care, so I was very pleased to see that during my polish color change & cut down on my toes the tech used all new equipment. I paid $30 for a refill with gel polish ($5 more than I normally pay) and the polish on 2 nails began chipping the day after they were done. 8 days later, the gel polish on every nail has chipped! Eh. I've given them a few tries now and overall not impressed. My last fill chipped on 3 nails within the first week and when I went in today, had to specifically ask if they could fix the underside of nails where my real nail is separating from the artificial ones. The job that was done today was sub par with very thick acrylic and irregular nail shapes. Polish not done well( edge to edge) and seems very dull now that's it's dry. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Ive been coming to this establishment for almost a year and was under the impression that I was a valued customer. Today I went in for a fill and was told there was a 15 min wait. No problem. Ten minutes into my wait, a group of white women entered requesting pedicures. They were told they could only take one and the remainder would have a 30 minute wait. My 15 minute wait turned into 45 minutes and the nail tech came from the back asking me if I can return tomorrow. I said excuse me? She says my baby is crying in the back can I come back tomorrow. I replied, that's rude and I'm not coming back period. This was two hours before closing and I was next in line for a chair. I did not stay to see if the white women were told the same thing but I highly doubt it. I'm infuriated because I frequent this salon and I was being a patient customer only to be embarrassed and singled out. Every knew I had been waiting prior to others who entered after me. I will never ever visit the establishment again. Black women please be cautious when patronizing establishment that believe your hard earned dollars hold less value than others. read more

I went in today for a nexgen dripping powder manicure on my natural nails and got a deluxe pedicure. The nail service costs $30. When I asked the technician towards the end of my service how much it would cost she said, "Yours is $35." I asked her why and she said it was because my nails were long and wide. This was again my natural nail that she was referring to. The owner came over and confirmed that my service would be $5 more. I asked her to show me where it was written that "wide" nails would be extra. She then said that she would only charge me $30 and charge me $5 next time. I agreed to that because I knew I was not coming back. When I went to pay, she said my total would be $60 and still swiped my card for $65. I guess she thought I wouldn't notice. She then gave me a five dollar bill for the mistake. Aside from that, the guy who painted my toes completed two full coats before he tried to fold up a paper towel and place it between my toes as a toe separated. This, of course, ruined the entire polish job and he had to start over. I will not go back to this place again and I hate I went the first time. read more

I came in a week ago to get mine and my daughters nails done, (dip with a tip) because the work posted on their Facebook page looked good. First off the tech who did my nails was super rude and her station was filthy...I honestly should have left then. The check out station was disgusting as well. I work in the beauty industry and was appalled at how dirty this place was. She rushed through my nails and you can see my actual nail on a few of them on top of some of them being really crooked. My daughter got the shortest tip to where it looked like her natural nail and I got a medium coffin shape, both just a single color with no design. Total cost was $95 for both of us. They charged $50 for my 11 year olds nails and $45 for mine. So $35 for dip with a tip, $5 for the shape. I should have paid $80 total for both of us, but they charged extra for my daughter's because the color she picked was "glow in the dark" (so $15 extra) which was false...we checked. On top of them being rude and overcharging us, all of my daughters nails lifted within 3 days and cracked and they didn't even last a week. We had to remove all of her nails last night. She was at home and not doing anything crazy for that to happen. Several of my nails have cracked and I've had to nail glue them back together. Which is the worst. I work with high end clientele and am so embarrassed of my nails. What a waste of money. Literally $95 down the drain for nails that didn't even last one week. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Rude, unprofessional, dirty and over priced for literal junk. No thank you. read more

My mother, daughter & I have been here 2-3 times each. My daughter liked the owner's work & my mom liked her pedis by a tall gentleman (not the owner's husband though). Unfortunately, today (6/2/2016) was the kicker for me. My manicurist, whom I've had twice, could not understand what I wanted (again). I said pink & white, but she understood white tips. She was not prepared (again). Every time she needed something (a brush or powder, etc), she had to get up & go to the first station. I was already frustrated, b/c my daughter's manicurist (an older woman) kept trying to up sale her things that she didn't want, so I just took the white tips. Then, my manicurist left a gap in several of my nails (new set, mind you) that made it look like I already had a week-old set. She begrudgingly fixed when I pointed them out. Oh, and I got the clear powder filler (not pink) with several nails that have air bubbles. Moving on, rather than my daughter's manicurist using a top coat, she used a clear primer over her color. Half of her nails were matte-looking & the other half were semi-gloss. They put a top coat over the primer & her color somewhat faded. Both manicurists seemed bothered at us for pointing this out to them. Needless to say, there was a major language barrier from both manicurists. A lot of this could have been avoided w/some translation assistance by a tech that spoke and understood both English & Vietnamese. BTW there is a $2 up charge for OPI nail colour. Really? 2nd attempt. First attempt was a manicure and pedicure. 2 days later my nails are a mess. The cuticle oil hid the hack job he did to my nails. Sunday when I returned to give the salon an opportunity to leave me with a favorable impression they will not refund my original horrible job from the long haired guy and charged me $60 so I've paid $150 in 3 days and I'm still dissatisfied. The color doesn't match when I specifically asked for the color that's already on my toes. I will not return for them to take more of my hard earned money!!!! read more

Went here for first time on Friday. Got powder dip nails and pedicure. The young guy who did my fingernails didn't seem to be very experienced. He nicked me several times with the electric tool (see picture for the worst one). When I was finished, there was a lot of residue around my nail beds. I've never had that happen before. He told me once I washed my hands it would come off. 3 showers and several hand washings later and all of my nails still look the the picture I posted. Then this morning I noticed my thumb nail was already chipped and had a crack down it... That's after 3 days. Very disappointed. My pedicure was fine. But... I paid for an upgraded pedicure that was supposed to include a hot stone massage and a longer massage and I got no massage at all. So... It was less expensive than my old place, but I didn't get the quality I want so won't be back. read more

So now I bet you're wondering why I only have a 3 star review... Well let me tell you. Even though they are awesome they are SUPER slow. I got there at about 10:30...I didn't leave until after 1. I was supposed to get to work at 11:30 or at least by 12:00. This is the only complaint I have. My other nail shop is fast but they are high as a giraffe's behind!!! I needed to get back to the basics and I think this place was as basic as I was going to get at 9am. I just wanted a basic pedicure and manicure and I think Kay understood that. She explained to me how gel color works and we decided on french and a pretty red for my feet. I think I was nervous a bit because the building isn't new and fanciful like all these shiny bright places popping up, they didn't ask me if I wanted a wine or coffee, they just did my nails and we were good. The actually look good and my hands are torn to shreds....my feet are in top notch condition now. The winter took a toll on my feet and I NEEDED the cheese grater thingy...they didn't upcharge for that. That is a part of the regular pedicure there! AND that's where they had me sold. If you like the "spa" feeling of going to the new places, then this isn't for you. It's in an old stripmall on precinct line, but I will be back. They were friendly and personable. So I came to Red Velvet before I left on my trip to see if they could reshape and fix my nails. THEY WERE AWESOME. Tiep (male technician) was a perfectionist. He fixed one of the tips that didn't sit perfectly on the nail. It hurt a little when he was drilling it down because my natural nails were shredded by the tech in Dallas. HE NOTICED WHEN I WAS HURT and paid special attention to me to make sure I was comfortable. I showed Tiep a small photo on my phone and he knew EXACTLY what I liked and did my nails perfect. An (younger lady) did the actual acrylic setting. She had a fantastic style that I appreciate: do it right the first time vs. globbing acrylic on and filing for a long time. She paid special attention to remove all the little acrylic bits under my nail tips that irritate me over time. GREAT selection of polish / gel / dipping powder. The OPI infinite shines are 2 dollars extra which I think is fine. Many of the bottles were dated so the salon looks like they keep track of what they have. And whoever orders / shops for them gets all the really cool OPIs. I'm not an OPI gal but I enjoy a salon where I can try them despite being out of my price point. Overpriced! They have a huge selection of polish, but some of it is so old it clumped on. I got a pedicure 2 weeks ago but polished chipped after a week! The ONLY reason I went back was because I had a gift certificate. I will never go back again! For the price, they should offer water at least! There is nothing spa like about this place! You can't even lean back on the massage chair because someone does you manicure at the pedicure chair so you get yanked around. Twice I took my granddaughter to this nail salon. One time she had a regular manicure and before the day was up they all just peeled off. The second time they recommended gel nails and the 2nd day 2 nails peeled off and by the 4th day they were all off. I came in because this location had just opened up the 2nd of February and my usual place was packed. When I pulled up, it was empty-but quickly filled by the time I left. The older man who did my acrylics was very gentle and easy to understand. I had them painted and he made them appear flawless. I only have 4 stars because of the atmosphere and hospitality.
