Went to the Orange store and they definitely helped out. The staff in Orange location apologized for this store in the sake of the name of the brand. They explained that the new system is difficult to process and the work voucher indeed made things complicated but they were willing to work through it. This brand was recommended to me through someone I know and it was my second time buying from Red Wing but will most likely be my last. After searching online and after talking to a couple different employees over the phone from a few different stores, finally one store told me they had only one pair left and they had offered to put them on hold for me for 48 hours...thank god because it was already near closing time. They never told me about their leather conditioner and leather spray before, so I ended up buying a whole new pair! AND a whole third trip to pick up conditioner and spray!!! Ridiculous! Crappy service at Redwing in Santa Ana today compared to my normal store in Long Beach. The sales person greeted me nicely, but when I asked to have conditioner put on my boots he did not seem to understand. My regular store offers this as a complimentary service. I also asked for shoe trees for my boots. The sales person seemed confused, but asked another guy in the back if they had them. Update: Late Jan early February I bought my husband some new work boots. Brand was BOA supposedly some good work shoes not so bad with steel toe. Me thinking it's RedWing these gotta last since his Die Hard lasted 2 years before buying a new pair. It's now October & last month they started tearing apart now these boots are really a lost soul. He is still in the same construction field as the past 15YEARS. I paid around $280 or somewhere around that range. I bought a 400 hundred dollars hard steel boots and they recommended the 150 dollars soles then 3 month later the soles have holes in them so I went back to get them fixed or replaced they laughed at me and told me it's because your foot is putting more pressure on that spot, I asked how come you didn't tell me that when you let me stand on that machine, I got no answer, of the door they told me take care... four of them including the manager were standing looking at me with mocking faces. read more

I tried on 4 pairs of boots, and each pair was progressively more and more uncomfortable. Perhaps the employees need more training ? The salesperson seemed more concerned about upselling a pair of $100 insoles versus actually helping me find a comfortable boot. This stores efficient and I like that you can stand and have your feet measured to predict what sized shoes are ideal for you - less guessing and doubt with purchases as a result. However, due to covid, and the location/demography, this store is always busy so there was a 20 min wait to get in around 4 and 5 the times I've been here. Service is good but not as intimate and serviceable as locations because they're so busy, but the guys here are extremely knowledgeable. I recently moved to the area and LOVE the Red Wing brand. But this place... "I'm here for a boot oiling" That was all I said. I was continuously told it wasn't free (with attitude) and was treated rudely as if the Manager assumed I was trying to abuse their service. He was wrong to assume I was expecting a free service. I'm well aware that I bought my boots from a third party and have paid for oilings in the past. I just really loved the red wing store at my previous city so I visited frequently and was paying for the hospitality, genuine conversations, and amazing service. Being in a new city, I figured visiting the red wing shop would give me a piece of home. I was wrong. Very wrong. I still purchased the oiling service and patiently waited in support to the brand I love. Yet, I ended up getting an oiling kit elsewhere to service my boots at home from now on and to avoid coming here. You are an ambassador of the brand and set an example for your employees. Customer service is the bread and butter, so learning it is pivotal. Just had the best boot buying experience here. Thanks to the staff at red wing. As soon as I stepped in was greeted and sized up on their digits foot scanner, which is an excellent tool by the way. With every pair of boots they have a care plan to condition/clean leather as well as replace laces for free if worn or torn. My respect to the Redwings brand, but this store is not up to par. The service is very lousy, very disrespectful employees whom rather hold a full on conversation with each other and totally disregard the customer they are attending to. I've tried giving them my business several times on account that is local, but this last time was last the time. I understand all the covid precautions, but when you're waiting outside to come in and you see people leave and no one is telling you anything, to busy laughing and in conversation, and you just open the door to ask if it's ok now to enter and you get yelled at with a hand in your face....now thats just plain rude. What happened to when you could just go to a store and feel welcomed, and be attended to with the utmost? This store really needs to deal with customers in a more appropriate manner. I have been wearing Red Wing boots for over 20 years. There quality used to be great, but it has definitely suffered in the past couple of years, even with their Made in the USA stuff. Nevertheless, their customer service has always been great and my local shops have always offered to clean and oils my boots for me as a complimentary service. Well, I went into their Santa Ana store for a new pair of boots. I picked out a pair from their Heritage line (top level $275 boots). I could instantly tell that the quality was not as good as my 15 year old boots that I was wearing. I asked the employee what he thought and he just kind of shrugged his shoulders. Anyways, I still liked the boots and needed a new pair so I decided to get them. I asked the employee how often he recommended that I bring them in for cleaning and he said that they did not offer that service. I told him about the other stores in my old town that did this and he said that it is at the discretion of the store owner. I told him thanks, but no thanks and decided to take my business elsewhere. When I got home, I contacted Red Wing customer service and asked them about the complimentary cleaning and they said that their stores were franchises and while most offered cleaning, there were a few that did not. It is my bad luck that the local franchisee has decided to cut corners and be one of the few who do not do this, so I will vote with my wallet and give my hard earned $275 to another store. I also Googled "Red Wing Boot Quality" and I was surprised at how many posts there are out there about how much it has gone down recently. Not a good combination of you ask me. read more
