This DSW location that I visited was at Costa Mesa. Parking garage at Metro Pointe is nearby and this store is located across from Nordstrom Rack. I had a really good shopping experience here. The store had a huge selection of shoes for kids, men and women, and it was easy to browse because everything was organized by brand and style. They carry popular brands like Brooks, Sauchony, Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Steve Madden, UGG, Converse, Vans, Skechers, and Dr. Martens, so there are plenty of options whether you want athletic shoes, casual sneakers, heels, or boots. My current goal is to collect all colors of Brooks and Sauchony shoes in every style and color. They are a great fit and especially important and comfortable as a stability shoe. They tend to be on the pricier end but at DSW you can collect rewards and there are even sales going on. The staff was friendly and helpful when looking for sizes and even offered to order online so that I can pick them up at the store. Came here with friends, one of whom was specifically looking for shoes to help with plantar fasciitis. Instead of being greeted or offered any assistance, we were followed around the entire store the whole time, no "can I help you find something?", no acknowledgment as customers, just silent surveillance. They even followed us all the way to the exit. It was uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and honestly insulting. This 'machine' sprays your new shoes with a liquid-resistant protection that prevents stains and dirt. It's an $9 add-on that is well worth it for those of us with a white tennis shoe obsession. Floor help was fine and for that, one star. Not alot of variety for the size of the store in terms of widths (narrow, wide, etc) but a good sock collection so for that, another star. Where it all goes downhill is checkout. The clerk immediately asks for MY email address. If you decline to provide one, they imply that they can't give you a receipt. That's illegal in this state. After pointing out that the person in front of me managed to get a receipt, she proceeded to check me out, this time requesting my phone number for points. "No thanks" I said. After that, she offered some kind of shoe spray add on. Again I declined. You'd think that after running that gauntlet, the clerk would realize I wasn't interested in providing personal information in order to purchase product. You would be wrong. Again, she tried, this time saying that she'd like to offer me a 20% coupon if I would only provide an email. When that failed, she asked if I wanted to round up for charity. By this time, there was a line behind us. I understand that the clerk is only doing what someone in management at corporate is telling the stores to do. Tell you what: I'm never coming back here. I almost didn't complete the purchase it was that bad. Privacy is top priority for more and more customers. Not everyone wants to hand over their information so companies can advertise, promote and sell goods via email and text messaging, much less have their data collected and often sold to other entities. Do better DSW. Not everyone is willing to turn over their data because you want to bully customers into providing it. read more

S aw online that the shoe I wanted was at this location. If I order online I received an extra $5 off but after standing in line, I was told rudely & matter of factly, that the $5 wouldn't apply. The cashier was not helpful or kind. Clearly she hates her job. I barely got a greeting. She did say it would take about 2 hours. I mean I was already wearing the shoes & then had paid online. So I waited. 10 mins go by. And waited. Another 10 mins goes by. And waited another 10 mins go by. Waited. (With the shoes already on.) 30 minutes later I told one of the stock girls, who apparently is the manager, that I'm leaving & showed her all the online info stating it's purchased here, it's the correct inventory, & size, purchased at this location. She agreed and I told her I would leave. She acted like I was stealing! She stated I have to wait & the order didn't come through yet. All bc they couldn't honor the extra $5 online. But now it's the principle & the ineptness of the employees & their online service. There should be a way to expedite this process online or honor the $5 in store, especially for being a points member. Needless to say, I won't come back to this store again unless I'm desperate but prefer not a DSW store any longer. Hope corporate can do something about wasting customer's time, whom I have already called. Horrific experience & horrific customer service from the manager. Now, it's been a whole 60 minutes and I'm still. Waiting. (For shoes that are already on my feet & my card has been debited.) ... But common sense exists in this store afterall: McKensey to the rescue. She realized how long I was waiting. She cancelled my order & charged me at the register & honored the $5 online only fee. I just had the most epic battle of wits (or lack thereof) at the DSW Shoes Warehouse in Costa Mesa. The customer service was so bad, I asked about flip flops for my tiny human, and the staff gave me a dismissive "it's over there" while simultaneously gliding away like a ghost on ice, leaving me to play a game of "find the flip flops" in the vast shoe wilderness. They do have a lot of shoes at this nice Metro Point location. My girl considers this her "go to " for new shoes. The service is minimal but the selection is vast. I usually come along to act as her shoe butler. We grabbed a pile of likely suspects and I tie them onto her dainty size 10 feet and I make her walk around in them. Out of the 10 pairs we tried on she selected a couple of adidas and an ASICS. I was delighted to get out for under $200 bucks. We were all happy. The line to check out was daunting, but it moved quickly. There was ample parking at Metro Pointe. There is always lots of activity at this place but in a good, and happy sort of atmosphere. I recommend the store DSW, and I have to note that there is a Nordstrom Rack across the court from DSW. That is one of my favorite stores. The movie theaters here I can also recommend. I have watched many a fine show here. Check out Metro Point, and we all have feet so check out DSW while you are in the area. read more

Ok I had low expectations because it's a big shoe store and you're basically browsing and picking your own shoes and sizes since inventory is just laid out. We had some trouble finding the shoe we were looking for. Online they said it was in stock so we thought it would be easy in and out. Anyway, ended up needing some assistance since the shoe for our little human was no where to be found. Jamie was super quick and found the shoe we needed (it was stacked up on the top so it required a ladder. Saw a bogo 50% off deal so we asked her again if there was a second pair and she happily grabbed it for us. Despite being busy and helping several people, she was able to do it all. I was impressed. My daughter and I just walked into this store and a loud beep went off. A worker immediately screeched out a welcome to us. I noticed that she was then wherever we were. I also noticed that about 15-20 people came in after us and the beeper did not go off and she did not greet them. After I said this, loudly, she got away from us. Disgusting. They try to force you want to get in your email address for a digital receipt and you have to really push to get a paper receipt. I am a frequent flyer of DSW. Today was an extremely odd experience. I went to check out for my shoes and the person kept trying to ask me for all of my details my name, my address, my phone number and my email address. I just wanted to buy a pair of shoes. I assume this person gets an incentive based on how many people they enroll in some membership program. In addition to shoes, I purchased some socks, shoelaces basically the accoutrement that goes with shoes. At the end of the transaction, the cashier goes we have no bags we're going bag less. Literally the person behind me who had bought her shoes yesterday ,walked up with a bag to return them. My comment to the cashier was wow limiting bags really will make me only ever buy one pair of shoes at a time then. That's a very limiting business practice you all are applying. There's no way somebody could carry 2 to 3 maybe even four pairs of shoes around and continue to casually shop. Lame. DSW do better. The people picking up their online orders were notified via text their orders was ready for pick up, were told the order is still being processed & to come back. More very angry people. They have a large selection of shoes - more so for women than men. They also sell accessories like handbags and socks. There's a whole display for shoe care products too. I got one of those nubuck and suede cleaners that came with a brush. The location is very large - almost cavernous. It's a little spooky though as there's no natural light at all. Its a shame because the location has two walls of windows! They're covered up by advertisements. I've been there a few times and noticed they don't have anyone working the floor. Or maybe the staff is savvy enough to know who needs to be approached and who doesn't. I can usually find my own way. The clearance section has good deals and there always seems to be some additional sale. I got 20% off an already marked down pair of Merrils! When I called to get the information from TRE they said it was due to my return history, when they forwarded this report to me, had false information on it! Well, first time buying at DSW. Ordered online. All 3 pairs of shoes were to big. I went in and returned two pairs, they didn't have the size I wanted. Exchanged for a smaller size for one pair. The one pair at checkout she takes both shoes out. Checks the size and puts them back in the box. I purchase them. Wake up at 4:30 for my 5:30am workout. It's dark in my car, I put the shoes on in my gyms parking lot. Go inside my gym and my trainer points out the super obvious oversized security tag on the front side of the left shoe. So embarrassing. I had to workout barefoot lifting weights. I pay for my trainer and couldn't cancel. I am so upset. Zero stars if I could. Terrible experience. I come here often to check out shoes and I have no complaints. I'm a big fan of online shopping. Often times, I'm not sure what size I am for that shoe brand. So I come here to get an idea of the shoe/sizing. Each brand sizes their shoes slightly differently so it's reassuring when I know my shoe size for different brands, so I don't waste my time returning the item. This DSW is clean, well-stocked, and the workers here are nice. Most times I come here, the line is long and I end up waiting a bit. Perhaps my feet (not just my waistline LOL) have gotten bigger over Covid-19 staying at home all these months...Anyway, instead of sending back multiple boxes of shoes in the mail I decided it'd be easier to return the shoes to the store - and it was! DSW (location right across the street from South Coast Plaza Mall) has 2 parking spots in the corner of the upper level of the parking lot closest to their store marked off as DSW Curbside and all I had to do was pull into a stall and call the store and in less than 5 minutes an employee came out, we both had masks on, I gave her the shoes and she put them in a basket along with my receipt then told me that if I didn't need a receipt or just wanted it emailed then I could just drive off (so easy) but alas I'm not that trusting of a person and I really wanted to make sure I got my refund so I just asked how long it would take to wait for a real paper receipt and she said 5-10 minutes she just had to take the shoes into the store and then process the return then she'd walk back out to my car (still parked in curbside DSW parking) and give it to me - So I said sure! Sure enough, it was only like 7 minutes later (not that bad a wait at all) she came back, handed me my receipt and I was all set and got my full refund! Yay!
