    Chicken lo mein lunch special
    Ricky B.

I recently moved out of Gainesville to newberry and although the distance is not very far the food scene is worlds apart. If you want pizza or bar b q well newberry has your back but I was tired of the same 3 restaurants so I got on the Yelp app and looked to see what else my new hometown had to offer and I stumbled upon Red Wok. I ordered a lunch special to go because I did not realize this was an buffet kinda place. But they loaded up my plate so major props to them for not skimping on the serving size. I mean "wow!" This plate was literally piled high. They couldn't fit another noodle in this thing. The price was extremely fair and the taste was ok, not great not bad just good. I gave them an extra star because of how quick and easy the staff made my pick up. I ordered over the phone and hopped in my car and in the time it took me to drive down the road to the restaurant my food was ready to go. It's not my favorite Chinese place but considering it's the only one in town it really is not too bad.

This is a good chinese buffet. We were warmly greated upon arrival and directed to a booth. Our drink order was taken and delivered promptly. I always hit the hot n sour soup first and it was tasty. Then I tried a number of dishes offered. Some were definately better than others but all in all the food was good. The staff here is very good about removing used plates and refilling soda. After a few trips I was happy and we were happily thanked by the owner and asked to visit again. I will definately try it again.

There's alot of food but its lack luster. It's of fair quality and quickly prepared. It's definitely best budget chinese buffet. My favorite is the hot and sour soup. It's pretty darn good. The buffet is certainly not as good as it was three or four years ago. It's hot, decent, cheap, and the only chinese food in town.

Hadn't been in a while, the selection wasn't as good as it used to be. Service and cleanliness was OK but won't hurry back.

Chocolate Cake wasn't bad, butbwhat i believe to pineapple cake or something was very dry no flavor. The desserts were on a table in the back and were pre cut so I imagine they were dried out. I found an empty pan where there was supposed to have been a hot cobbler but it was not filled while we were there. The waitress was friendly and attentive. When I went up the first time there was no shrimp and I was very disappointed. I tried the fried chicken but it wasn't that good. The veggies I tried were good. Some were fresh and some were not. The second time I went up there was shrimp so I felt a lot better about the dinner. The shrimp were done well and the sauce I found was good. The atmosphere is homey/country and nothing fancy. I only saw tables but there was another room that I didn't go in so it might have had some other kind of seating. It's as expensive as the larger buffet's , even with a senior discount, which was a surprise. Tea is an extra charge, so I can't comment on that. I would give it another try if in the area again.

I've had to edit this review three times because I keep going up and trying other stuff from the buffet! The mac & cheese! The green beans, complete with pieces of bacon! So good! Peach cobbler, banana pudding with chucks of banana in it and chocolate pudding with pieces of chocolate chip cookies in it! The prospects of what this place could do with a dinner menu make my mouth water. However, don't everyone rush up there at once, I almost want to keep this little piece of heaven to myself.

We kept having to ask for essential items to be brought over, like food that we were missing or cocktail sauce and crackers for the oysters. Our drinks never got refilled even after asking. Our server also didn't clear our plates after we were done with the apps and first round of oysters so our table ended up piled high with dirty dishes. We witnessed multiple wrong orders being delivered to tables, patrons asking more than once for things, and discounts being doled out for poor service. The servers, manager, and kitchen don't seem to communicate and are forgetful. Every single table in our section was complaining about the service. The ambiance also feels dated, and not in a charming way. On the bright side, our calamari and fried green tomato appetizers were pretty good, though! We came on a Thursday for the $1 oyster special. The oysters were on the smaller side, but thats to be expected for $1. Wahoo could be a really great restaurant if they had better service and a facelift to the decor, but for now, we won't be coming back. :(

It choose bulgogi as my protein, and it came with rice, a perfectly cooked egg, a fresh side salad, and even a small chicken wing. The flavors were spot on, especially the bulgogi, which was tender and well-seasoned. I split it with my friend and got hash browns and an extra egg for her. The salad bar has also changed up a bit but thankfully the excellent bean salad remains on it and the large cubes of cheese which are really a nice addition to any salad. The decor is nautical, the atmosphere country as is the music on the radio including often older country hits (think Dolly, Conway, Waylon, early Reba, even Lacy J. Dalton now and then). It's cozy, family-friendly, and you're likely to see people you know. The waitstaff is super-friendly too though promptness varies--normally good service, sometimes someone will disappear for lengths of time, though--I like to say when that happens they've gone over to the springs to catch more mullet. The real winners on the pretty long menu: fried shrimp, stuffed shrimp, really anything they do with shrimp. The fried mullet, too, which is local. The shrimp po'boy or fish sandwich. The salad bar which, as salad bars go, is very varied and good. Best sides: sweet tater fries, swamp cabbage when in season, fried okra. All in all, a solid place for a good dinner and certainly nice people working there day in and day out--which, by the way, they're open seven days a week which can be a rare find out here in the country.
