Rented Bike Share Toronto bikes (aka Tangerine bikes) on Centre Island with friends and had a…read moremostly good experience, with one thing worth flagging for anyone new to the service. First, a heads-up: I couldn't get the app to accept my credit card. It froze on the same screen every time I tried, possibly because it was an American card, though I can't say for sure. My friend was able to reserve two bikes on his phone without trouble, so we got going that way. The bikes themselves were great. They seemed well maintained, were very easy to use, and we had no real problems out on the island for about an hour and a half. The only quirk was the seat adjustment, which didn't quite hold and needed resetting a couple of times. Docking was easy too, once we figured out how it worked. Now the part that caught us off guard. The riding cost was clear and fair: a dollar to unlock plus 12 cents a minute, which came to around $26 for our time out, right in line with what we'd expected. What surprised us was an extra $50 hitting the card with no clear heads-up. When we called, they described it as a one-time service fee. Digging into it afterward, it turns out this is actually a refundable $50 hold that Bike Share Toronto places on your card per transaction as a temporary deposit, and it's returned within about 4 to 10 business days depending on your bank. I think holding the deposit for 4-10 days after the bike has been returned is excessive. Additionally, this policy could really put some people on a fixed budget in a bind - not featuring a security deposit disclosure prominently as an opt-in seems disingenuous. So it's not a lost $50, which is a relief. But here's my honest feedback: if the staff themselves are describing a refundable deposit as a "one-time fee," it's no wonder riders are confused. A $50 hold is a real amount to have tied up, and it should be shown prominently before you book, clearly labeled as a refundable deposit, not something you discover on your statement and have to call about. One helpful note for anyone renting as a group: the hold is per transaction, not per bike, so if you can book multiple bikes on one account, you'll only have one $50 hold instead of several. Bikes and ride experience, no complaints. Fee transparency is the one thing they should fix.

They don't accept cards from online banks. They assume people on a low income are eligible for credit cards. They just dangle a carrot in front of our nose only to say oops, sorry. Actually you can't have it.

My experience with the customer service is similar to some of the reviews below about the office…read morebeing rude and claiming to be "super transparent" about prices. I usually get a bus service 4-5 times a season and have never had an issue like this. I booked a Sprinter from 716 Limousine for the 1/12 Bills game and was quoted with a base rate of $695 plus a 20% gratuity and 4% fuel surcharge (~$867 total), but after changing my time to pick up time and discussing with them, my new charge came out to $933.72. The extra $66 was what I had assumed was the charge with the added time, as I was told it would be "not that much". Also, this was on my invoice before the game and up to the afternoon of 1/13 as seen below. Without being informed, they had processed an extra $190 charge labeled "Additional Charges 1" bringing the grand total to $1130.72. I did not receive any documentation of this beforehand and when I called to discuss this, I was told it was for the additional time. I was also told that "their staff was well trained", so there is no way they could have been wrong about the pricing ahead of time, and that, "they were very transparent" despite not sending me updated price documentation. Out of the dozens and dozens of buses I've taken to Bills games, this was by far the least transparent, and the most expensive. Not once have I had the price change like this without advance notice and then have the company imply that I should've known. You don't have to look far to find better, cheaper options. Book with someone else. Also shoutout to our driver Dave. 5 Stars to him.

John who contacted me back was extremely professional. He went over Covid protocols for going into Canada and back to the US. Even gave us good times for pickup to make it back to the airport on time. We did find out the two days before the trip that passports were not up to date. Contacted John and he made all the changes for us. Now for the night of the flight into Buffalo. The plane got delayed into Buffalo by about 60 min, so we are now a little after 11 PM to land. We get to the baggage claim area and meet John (not sure if it was the same John as on email). He was amazing and friendly. We waited for our bags, and it appears that one of our bags did not make it with us. John patiently waited with us while we went and filed paperwork with the airline. John still made the night special for us even with all the problems. John got us into the limo and the ride was amazing, he even offered to stop and get us something to eat because everything was closed nearby. The pick-up from the hotel was perfect too. John picked us up in the SUV for the return trip. The car was still amazing and the drive was smooth. Had a great talk with John and he was able to talk about all the history of the area. Not being from there it was extremely interesting. This was an anniversary trip for my wife and me, and we felt like VIPs the whole time. I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you all for helping make this great, and for anyone reading this review please know that A Touch of Class will take care of you.
