However, once we agreed on the table and paid in full upfront (something we were uncomfortable with but were assured was fine), everything went downhill. The original completion date was supposed to be mid-August, but there was almost no communication from the store about progress. I had to repeatedly reach out for updates, only to eventually learn that the company making the table base (outside of Michigan) had "stopped responding to their emails" for nearly a month. That delay pushed our project back significantly, with no clear timeline ever provided. When we were finally invited to see the finished table, the quality was disappointing. The metal legs had visible scratches, and the copper top had several imperfections -- bubbles in the surface (caused by uneven glue adhesive) and areas that looked like staples under the metal. When I pointed these out, the owner responded rudely, even asking, "Have you ever ordered custom furniture before? This isn't Wayfair." That comment was unnecessary and unprofessional, especially after spending over $3,000 and waiting months for the piece. She explained that fixing the flaws would require redoing the entire top and said "this is just how custom pieces are." She also claimed the showroom table looked the same, but when we compared them, it clearly did not. The owner eventually agreed to make "adjustments," though she was dismissive about timelines and updates. She later offered to refund us and keep the table, implying I was "too upset" to be satisfied -- which felt unfair, considering our frustrations were justified. After further discussion, she agreed to fix the issues and deliver the table the following Monday. When it arrived, the "repairs" were unacceptable. The legs had simply been spray-painted over, one of the staple marks was sanded down leaving a burn ring, and new bubbles appeared on the copper top. Again, I had to reach out for follow-up. The owner reiterated her offer to take the table back and refund us, but by that point, starting over with another company would have meant waiting months more. When I asked for compensation due to the poor craftsmanship, she rudely offered only $200, though they did waive the $175 delivery fee since we lived outside of Detroit. Overall, the experience was incredibly frustrating. The customer service felt polite until we paid -- after that, it became dismissive and condescending. The quality of the final product does not reflect the price or the promises made. Bottom line: Woodward Throwbacks may have appealing designs, but if you're looking for reliable communication, professional customer service, or high-quality custom work, I cannot recommend them.

She must know it's a great way to get another employee out of her way. The extremely unfortunate part of this atrocity is another younger employee who does the Facebook videos went along with the older woman's lies. When I told the owner, Allen, he told me just show up for your regular shift if I felt comfortable doing so. How would anyone feel comfortable working with people who would do such a thing to a good co-worker?? The concept of the store is a good one, however, the owner did not care about the severity of the situation and did not look into the serious accusations made against me. And the original new hire who is dishonest and quite obviously cannot be trusted still works there. In fact, she followed my daughter and Granddaughter around the store one day as if to suggest they were shoplifting. My advice is to shop at M59 Deals with great caution. I have never had such an experience in my life. My good name and reputation has been tarnished. I would like them to tell their lies under oath so then they are committing perjury!!

I'd love to hear from any active vendor there. Maybe they don't have any vendor openings or they don't think my art is a good fit. That's fine. However, I think a courtesy email telling me that should be a normal expectation, though? You write down all of your favorites and then narrow it down your list to the top 4 scents you think smell best together to create your own signature candle. You can also make a reed defuser, room spray, or soap as an alternative option. Before pouring the wax and mixing your scents, you choose from their selection of jars, ranging in price around $40-60. After creating your candle and naming your scent, it takes around 90-120 minutes for it set. I think the experience could be elevated with a few things: An option to customize your candle with glitter, color of wick, color of wax, ability to select a cute label with your scent's name or create one, even a label maker would do the trick. They have some cute vessels, but I would love to see more variety in different styles, colors, and sizes. I asked the owner, Marleen what ingredients were in the fragrance oils and she couldn't really give me a complete answer other than they are not 100% essential oils but they're synthetic and safe because they don't buy them from overseas. hmmm.... With that said, I'm sure they contain toxins like phthalates and ethyl methoxycinnamates. Reputable brands of oils will clearly label their products and disclose all the components. I try to use scents, body care, and household cleaners free from toxins so this is a little concerning not knowing what chemicals are in the candle. I'm sensitive to irritants which aggravate my asthma and also give me headaches. I just wish i knew for sure what was in this magical potion of oils we mixed. Overall, I had a fun time and made some great memories. It's a unique activity for a date night or group outing with friends that all ages can enjoy.

We started by smelling several scents, they have 90 scents to smell - I skipped some that weren't appealing like bacon and old books LOL Be sure to grab you a bag of coffee beans to cleanse your scent palette. I don't want to spoil the process so I won't tell you everything! So just go ahead and make a reservation, the fee goes towards your reservation at the end. I'm going to wait 2 weeks before light my custom candle so that I get the best scent payout. It's worth the money. You can make a candle, room diffuser, and/or room spray. I managed to visit Dave at the Rust Belt Market and selected the coffee table. I asked him to make the Vernor's side table and he shipped that to me. I have ordered a second Vernor's table as a gift and look forward to doing additional business with him.. The tables are both well made and unique.
