    Sat night Buffett plate

So we stopped here because of previous reviews and the menu options, of which they appear to have since changed, but we were very happy nonetheless. As a family of 6, traveling with grandparents and a great grandma, we are constantly looking for affordable, local places that have amazing food, can accommodate our size and don't break our budget. This restaurant excelled at all points. The special of the night, while you could still order off menu if you'd like, was a buffet, with salad bar, and dessert. It was worth every penny. You had the options of vegetable soup, white beans, or chili to start. Followed by veggie options of baked beans, great beans, corn, homemade mashed potatoes with brown gravy, fried apples, bbq chicken breast, and pulled pork. The salad bar was well stocked and you had your choice of cornbread and rolls, plus three choices of homemade bbq sauces. For dessert your choices were banana pudding, brownies, no-bake cookies, cookies, peanut butter pie, chocolate cheesecake, and carrot cake. Everything was homemade and amazing - someone in our group got one of each so we tried everything. They informed us on the way out that their Sunday buffet is from 11-3 and bigger and better than we just ate! She even offered to save our big crew a table if we called ahead! Super appreciative and highly recommend!

Thankful we stumbled across this place!! We walked in right as they were closing and they were kind enough to whip us up some food. Which was fantastic- and that's coming from 3 Texas BBQ snobs :) loved the food and the people! The owner is a great guy who takes care of and appreciates his staff. Will definitely go out of our way again to visit.

It smelled great and the food we seen delivered to other tables also looked great. We got a sample platter with ribs and brisket. The ribs were over cooked and chewy and the brisket was a lot of fat. The sides were just ok. Maybe it was just an off day for them because I see a lot of great reviews. We stopped in later in the evening so that may be the reason the meats were off. Again, not thrilled with our meal here, but may give them another chance earlier in the day.

My son and I both wanted to try the brisket so he got the platter and I chose the sandwich. I was told they make most of the sides that aren't fried options such as tater tots, which I was happy about. They had the classic barbecue sauce on the table as well as a spicy option. Both were equally delicious. My sandwich came on Texas toast, which is a fave. The portions were a great value as they do not skimp! The fried potatoes are made in house and they were delicious. Even though they don't make the onion rings in house they were also quite good. My one disappointment was, they don't make the majority of their desserts. And the menu states that their daughter-in-law Kayle makes different desserts daily and they didn't have that. They were actually out of several desserts, which was disappointing. Since the only ones they had were not ones made in house I chose to not get one. Since we live 3 1/2 hours away I guess I'll have to give it another shot for the dessert option next time around. Overall, the place was terrific and the folks were friendly. They have a salad bar in the middle of the floor, which is a nice touch. They have a very laid-back atmosphere and it is definitely family friendly. And you definitely get good size portions for the money.

I got a combo with brisket, two sides (cabbage and sausage and bbq beans) as well as corn cakes. The bbq sauce options were limited to two- one sweet and one spicy. The sweet was amazing. The bad: This is probably the dirtiest place I've ever eaten and had i not seen the food on Yelp we would have driven by from the looks of the parking lot. The vestibule you walk into before the restaurant has so much dirt caked around the edges you could peel it with a putty knife. The floor was sticky and our shoes made loud sounds as she walked us across an empty dining room. Every chair in the place was a light blonde wood that had never been cleaned. The legs were absolutely filthy and you could see dirty finger prints on the back of the chairs from never being cleaned. To make matters worse a cat has clearly lived in this building at some point in the past and you can tell when you walk in. Your best bet with this place- order to go. The food is incredible they just really need to clean.
