Had to stop here and hear what all the buzz was about! We didn't have a reservation and they said it would be a 45 min wait for a table. The bar was open with 5 seats so we ended up sitting there. We got the frozen mojito cocktail and it was so refreshing!!! We weren't staying for dinner but I had try their fries. Nice shoestring fries & crispy. Loved all the nautical decor and felt like I was in Charleston, certainly not Ohio! Our bartender was amazing and gave us great recommendations for the next time we visit. Amateurs! Arrived for an early dinner. Greeted and seated right away. After sitting at our table for about 10 minutes with servers walking past and bartender only feet away from the table, we finally asked if there was someone who could take a drink order. Server couldn't answer questions about items on the menu. Two of the three entrees were delivered and had to remind server that there was another entree for the table. Overall disappointing experience. If this is the experience when it's not busy, think of what the experience would be like if it was! Likely not recommending it if anyone asks. read more

A surprisingly modern new addition to Lakeside Marblehead. Red's Lakehouse is located at on the south side of Lakeside Marblehead near, uh, well, nothing? I can't think of a new restaurant/bar over there in, uh, well, ever? The building is brand new and features overhead doors and openings all around, with a central bar and hostess stand flanked on both sides by ample dining space, and an outdoor patio on one side. It looks like your rich friend's uncle's 3rd cousin's lakehouse, clad in white shiplap and a massive liquor wall. Service was good and servers were in abundance. We mainly drank and ate appetizers so I can't speak about the whole menu. Drinks: wide bourbon selection including Old Forester, cocktail list was eclectic and we had Lakehouse Lemonade but it was lighter on the booze. Walleye bites were big chunks of walleye, maybe the largest I've seen, but it's definitely light appetizer for 2 at the most. Overall, Red's Summerhouse is a welcome addition to summer. read more

Solid choice in Marblehead Ohio. Stopped in on a hot hot 90+ day to enjoy a cold brew and lunch. Draft beer from immigrant son (IPA) and Catawba Island (Hot Blonde) perfectly quenched our thirst. I had the perch sandwich and fries with gf bun. Very tasty sammie and I loved the salty fries too. Hubby enjoyed a pepperoni pizza--outstanding!Homemade taste--the crust, the sauce, cheese and pepperoni so good. Seems like a newer place, it is clean and nicely decorated. This was our first visit to this beautiful restaurant. The Hostess and Server were both very pleasant. Our walleye bites, perch sandwich, and taco bowl were all excellent. Their tartar sauce is unusual; I thought it was yummy but my husband would have preferred the traditional kind. I also had a really good mocktail; too many restaurants don't offer a nonalcoholic alternative. Unfortunately, Reds isn't on the water but it has nice patios and the whole restaurant opens up with garage doors. We really enjoyed our lunch , will definitely go back, and highly recommend Reds. read more

I ordered a grouper sandwich, which was not too good, as it was frozen, not fresh. By way of feedback, I mentioned it to my waitress. Then the manager Jojo, came over and wanted to make it right. She suggested the perch sandwich, which was great. I did not expect a new, free sandwich, but Jojo explained she wanted to make her customers happy. Later, when I thanked her and went to shake her hand, she said "give me a hug; I like hugs". So I did. That made me happy the rest of the day. After all, it is not every day that I get to hug a beautiful woman with a great personality! She went beyond what was necessary to make dining there a great experience. Doesn't really live up to the hype. The drinks are ok, but both the drinks and food are a little overpriced for Ohio. It also is not family-friendly as there are no children's items. The service was pretty decent and the food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time, The food was good, even if the portion sizes were not as big as we hoped. The other major problem with it is that it's too loud -- it's impossible to have a conversation without screaming. They do have plenty of TVs around the place, so it's easy to watch a baseball game. read more

This is personal favorite. A friend took me here for dinner. I was presently surprised, not you typical tourist dinning. Was so impressed I researched the owners. They have a unique business model for which they have lived up to and more. Very open, plenty of seating, both inside and out. The menu items may seem nothing special but how they are prepared and the ingredients they use is what makes this restaurant different. I had the Chorizo Smash Burger and fries, nice kick, not over the top, gave the burger a unique taste. Wait staff is very welcoming. Didn't have to wait as a walk in, but you can make reservations. Had very nice dinning experience that was affordable. It's what you would expect when dinning out. I'll look forward to visiting again on my next visit to the Ohio lake shore. Plenty of free parking. Family has been here multiple times. Consistent poor service. Drinks are never refilled. Server was rolling eyes when asked for anything. She had a genuine lack of care. When asked to speak with the manager, she said that's he's angry about how busy it was. I'm glad to know a manager of restaurant is angry when people attend their restaurant. Went for the first time today and everything was phenomenal! It was a beautiful day and the doors and windows were all open creating a nice breeze through the restaurant. We had a friendly waitress that was great with helping us decide what food to order. We ordered the walleye bites, lobster bisque, Big Jim burger, prime rib sandwich (special on Saturdays) and the key lime pie. Everything was top notch, but the prime rib sandwich was the standout, and will always be at the top of my list when it comes to the best sandwich I have ever had. read more

We are not locals but visit often. We were excited to try Red's. A couple of things were a little deceptive though. First-- it's not lakeside. No view of the water, just a patio facing the parking lot. And secondly, the menu online is not the menu served. That bothered me big time! And, it's a rather small menu. No kids choices either, so keep that in mind. I wouldn't call it family place. Ok, my review--the decor is nautical and well done, the service was fast and efficient, the food was good, and the restrooms, clean. We ordered the perch sandwich, very tasty, and also the chicken wings were good. However, when the menu says it comes with celery--it should. When the wings arrived, I asked about the celery and was told they were out. Why didn't the chef send someone out to the grocery store and buy celery? And why wasn't I told that they were out of celery when I ordered the wings? It's a small grievance,I know. But it still bothered me. Very good food and great ambiance. Large space and efficiently run to accommodate many guests.

Service 1st, there were only 2 other tables with customers at 4:15 when we arrived. The host was not very welcoming. The server was even less welcoming. She was unaware of happy hour prices for draft beer. She had to go check to make sure I got the happy hour price. My wife ordered an entree with a side salad. It sat on the server station until both our meals were ready. I questioned the server about why the salad was not served prior to the meal, I didn't know you wanted it sooner was her answer. We started eating and I ordered another beer. It sat at the bar for about 5 minutes while our server was visiting with her co-workers. All in all, service was terrible, food was average at best, and prices were on the high side which would have been okay if service and food quality were what we expected. Not sure where the high ratings come from. It was a very Applebees experience. Not sure we'll be going back. read more

The setting is very beautiful - decorated in a coastal casual with lots of natural light and plenty of options for seating both inside and outside. The service was good and everyone we encountered was pleasant and friendly. We received our food in a timely manner as a group of 10 - any delays were communicated to us by our great waitress. Red's Lakehouse is our favorite place to eat when we're in the area, which is often. The atmosphere is fun, whether you are downstairs, upstairs, or out on the patio. Might be one of the worst pizzas I've ever had. Soggy, oily crust underneath, floppy slices, frozen pizza flavor crust. Clearly baked on a screen, not on bricks, steel or stone. Cheese was rubbery, part-skim mozzella. Sausage and sauce were fine. Pie was $17 for an 11" pie!! Wings were undercooked with loose skin. Service (at the bar) was excellent and decor was nice.
