The name says it all. Reds are back in business. You can see the smoke early in the mornings from the starting the day. Meats hot and fresh off the grill smoking! You have to try the side items. Potato salad is delicious. Very friendly employees and clean sit in diner area. Most of all his famous barbecue sauce is very good. They are closed on Mondays and they do sale out food fast. Don't bother coming here on a Saturday unless you want to wait two hours for a burger and turkey leg to go. If you have such a long wait, you should make that known when orders are placed. This is some legit old school bbq right here! This place is the real deal! Not smoked, old school charcoal bbq. Best ribs I've had in STL, period. I got the 1/2 rack and it was so big I couldn't even finish it. Had to take the rest home. Sauce is great but the meat is so good you don't even need the sauce. Excellent, memorable and a unique bbq experience. I am from LA and we have great bbq herr, yet I miss the friendly atmosphere and the savory goodness of this. The sauce has a richness that hints of cloves. If you make ham using cloves then you know thid combo is a match made in pork heaven I am looking forward to heading back but for those of you in the vicinity from out of town head over there, but if you are lucky enough to live in the vicinity I am probably preaching to the choir!Either way enjoy this great bbq as soon and as often as you can! read more

I was SO looking forward to trying this place out. The lines were super long, times way longer than expected. As a BBQ place with select items, you'd expect to find these select items cooked to perfection at all times! My food was not. I ordered the half slab beef ribs and they were soooo tough to chew I had to recook them. The Turkey leg was tough and tender in certain spots. That was a miss. However the bbq sauce was on point!! Never again! First and last time going! I ordered a porksteak and a small ribtip. I contemplated ordering sides but now I'm happy I didn't. The porksteak was for my guy. He said it was soo tough. Now he eats almost anything..anything but even he couldn't stomach the piece of meat. My take on my food? The rib tips were huge...should be a good thing but it only is if the quality of the meat is good. It was fatty and tough. The biggest issue for me was there sauce. I generally ask for sauces on the side if I've never tried them before and I started to but I've heard great things about this place so I trusted their reputation. The rib tips are very tasty and highly seasoned, but I highly recommend getting them with sauce on the side if this is your first time. I don't like their sauce but the seasoning on the rib tips is out of this world. I travel a very long way for the tips. I've been patronizing RED's at their various locations for years, all the way back to when he was on Bermuda Rd. They give you SO MUCH food. I must say I am really disappointed with my order of medium rib tips the other day. The quantity was fine but the quality was lacking. The meat was tough and there was a lot of bone and fat taking up space in the box. Plus I had to pay extra for sauce on the side! C'mon, you don't have to charge for everything....jeez! I haven't been to Red's since they were on West Florissant about 2014, and I didn't know they've reopened... I got there at 10:05, just as they opened... I can't lie, everything was lit, I got the small rib tips, and the portion size was great, but the rib tips were tough as leather... the whole order, not one piece was palatable... I am truly disappointed because I ended up sucking the sauce off each tip, chewing whatever parts I could... it's sad because if it had been tender, I easily would've rated it 5 stars, truth... sigh, c'mon Red, you gotta damn good product, but your pitt guys need to watch the cook times... for real. read more

I politely tried to place a to go order over the phone so, like every other restaurant on the planet, I could come pick it up quickly. No big deal right? Wrong. The guy refused to take my to go order "unless it's over $50". So I had to wait 30 minutes after for one tiny order. Last, they said even if I place a $50 carryout order, they don't make *any* of your order until you arrive at the store. Someone please teach them the elementary standards on customer service.
