My family and I LOVE Redwood Cafe! Great atmosphere and everything I have tried on the menu is delicious! I always order a mocha or a latte when we go here for breakfast and it either comes in a huge mug with a pretty design or a tall glass diner style with a tower of whipped cream! I do have to say, the desserts aren't as good as they look so don't bother and if it is a hot day don't go because the air conditioning never works or they just don't have any? read more

I normally love this place, the atmosphere is perfect for getting some homework done and they make great lattes and other drinks! However, recently when I went there for breakfast I was pretty disappointed with the food. I ordered an Eggs Benedict with a bowl of fruit on the side. The Benedict looked fantastic, but the taste of the sauce had a very harsh lemon flavor! Very off putting. I've had better Eggs Benedict's that's for sure. The bowl of fruit i have to say was my biggest disappointment. When it was delivered to the table, the strawberries were completely uneatable- they were mushy and on the back there was something that looked like mold growing on them! Definitely not fresh, and clearly sitting out for a while! Other than that, I usually get the breakfast burrito or the pancakes, which are good!! read more

I enjoy going to Redwood Cafe anytime of the day for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They have a wonderful indoor and outdoor seating area. The outdoor has a nice beer and wine garden. Breakfast, I recommend the Santa Fe scramble with bacon. Lunch, the Ruben is pretty tasty, and dinner I adore the Cobb salad. They have a good selection of hot tea, and endless coffee, and juice/smoothies. The cold beer on tap and wine selection are nice for open mic or karaoke night. You can tell they support the community as the walls are always filled with art from those around the area. read more

I found this adorable place when I was a first year in college. Now almost 6 years later and still calling Rohnert Park my home, I have continued to love this unique restraunt. Whenever I have family visiting my home I also take them here. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. Their staff is always friendly, quick, and local. Their food is delicious and fresh. This used to be a good place but today it was a total let down. It was loud and chaotic when we arrived, the staff looked tired and disorganized. My boy's burger was completely tasteless except for a hint of dish soap and to top it off he found a lovely curly blonde hair it in, definitely not mine, haha. However, since they got new ownership it seems that they have been more interested in making the place a trendy, hipster place to spend time, then making the food as fresh and tasty as it used to be. Eggs Benedict is the absolute best. I have yet to find a better hollandaise sauce. I'm in love. They have a great menu with a little bit of everything and lots of options for people with allergies or diabetes. I've loved this place for years, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food that leans toward the healthy side, and that can be hard to come by... However, the past several times I've been there, I've been disappointed. While they've recently put a lot of work into updating the dining area, and have done a nice job with that, they've also increased prices and decreased quality of food. For $10, a simple plate of eggs, chicken sausage, potatoes, and toast, should be special. The eggs should be organic or local and they should be cooked right, the sausage should not taste like it's been fried in cheep dirty oil, the toast should be actually toasted not served as cold squishy bread with just a hint of butter in one spot. I'm sad to say that while the interior has been going upscale the food has gone down hill. it makes me feel like the people running the place now either don't care about real quality or health and/or really don't know anything about cooking good food. read more

I think the only thing about this place that I liked was the ambiance and service, but that only goes so far when paying a good chunk of money for food that is never very good. I've been multiple times to give chances and try new things, with every time being one where I try dishes and pastries that sound very appealing, but they are always quite-subpar. I try my best to be objective and fair when writing reviews, so when I finally feel so compelled to write an unflattering review, chances are, something really went south with the overall experience of an establishment. I understand that there is some populist (in the local sense) loyalty for this restaurant, but I think that sense of loyalty should be based upon consistent service and food quality, not because of sentimentality. So goes with my dissenting opinions... I have had numerous so-so experiences here over the years that were acceptable for the most part, if not a little on the disappointing side, but recently it seems that their food has really gone down the tubes in a big way, and it ain't good. Recently my husband went to RC to order some take-out, and ended up having to wait 30 minutes in spite of the fact that his was the only order. When we start eating the food, his burger is tiny and shriveled (don't laugh), and definitely not worth the $9.95 they charged for it. My falafel wrap was not good at all: the falafels were overcooked to the point where there was an abnormally crunchy layer on them (the texture was pretty nasty, actually), and it was just too weird to eat them, so I had to remove them from the wrap. What is the point of spending over $9, almost $10 on something that you can't eat? And more importantly, why do the current owners think that this is acceptable? For that price, you should be able to expect a relatively good value, but not at the Redwood Café. In fact, I would even go so far as to say that if they really were a community-minded business, this type of stuff wouldn't happen, because they would respect their customer base a little more by offering higher quality, better priced food. I had to return my meat twice and finally ask for a refund on my dinner. I ordered the turkey Patty Melt, and the turkey had pink chunks inside, even after I sent it back once. They gave me my money back and I wish I'd fished my tip out of the jar! I'm really sad to be writing this review. I have loved going to Redwood Cafe for the last 10 years and it doesn't seem to be the same old beloved place any longer. I'm wondering if it is under new ownership? The food used to be reliably fresh, tasty and affordable. The place seems to be all tidied up, but the food doesn't seem freshly made and doesn't taste at all good any more. I'm pretty sure the soup was from a can. I am used to the same old friendly counter staff and waiters and they seem to be gone (along with the cook, I guess!) Redwood's been good to me, whether it be in the form of deep-pocketed omelettes, pillowy french toast, or the occasionally rambunctious open mic nights. The surprising tidbit they don't play up enough is their draft beers, of which the Death & Taxes is a always a great choice. It may not be the most glamourous place to eat in Sonoma county, but every time I stop by, the courteous staff and local artwork makes it feel like home. read more

So I live like 1 minute from the Redwood Cafe, which is honestly the ONLY reason I have been back there in the year I have lived in Cotati. Ive been craving Nachos for the past week, and I've eaten them 3 times at Redwood. *The first time was great! Huge Plate of nachos, a ton of jalepenos, the chips were still crunchy and the cheese not overcooked! *The second time was pretty good too, a large bowl full of nachos. The portion was considerably smaller than the nachos I had gotten only a day before, and also there were only about 10 pieces of jalepenos on this batch. Though it was still tasty, crunchy, cheesy and pretty much delicious. *Just had my third batch less than 20 minutes ago and they were gross! Maybe the other batches were just that good but this batch was sooo overcooked! The cheese was stuck to the plate, chips below the top layer were mush! like they were cooked in the microwave with all the beans on them. I poked at the mass of overcooked cheese and mushy chips with my fork throughout the entire horrible nacho experience, and ended up leaving most of it stuck to the plate. So yeah, Nachos are pretty easy to make right? And for 10$ I would like to at least eat moooost of the plate... I guess all I'm asking is for some CONSISTENCY! My husband got the Grilled Veggie salad, which should be called the "Overexpensive and Old Vegetable Salad" Cause the veggies tasted like they've been sitting out all day. My husband made the mistake of saying to the cashier that the veggies were "cold" to which she responded that it was "italian style" But in reality the vegetables were lukewarm and sour. anyway, I buy salads there like once a week and have never seen a portion that small. Please train your 'cooks' to give similar portions, and also please please please recognize when a salad looks like shit before bringing it to a table, I would have appreciated it soooo much! I live about a quarter of a mile away from RC and it has been an easy place to meet up with friends or go out for breakfast or lunch on the weekends for the last ten years. The owners Michael and Moose have created a wonderful place, very warm and inviting I have watched them continually upgrade and strive to make their business better. They have something interesting going on every night of the week, music, open mike etc... I don't think they ever sleep! There is a parade of talented artists hanging their art on the walls that changes monthly. Food is delicious, whether it's a burger and fries or something a little more exotic the menu is extensive. I don't care who you are in business you never bat 100% and on occasion I have been less that satisfied, the owners have always been apologetic and anxious to see that I am well served. When the told the gal at the register she took my plate which also had a waffle on it to the kitchen and then tried to return the waffle which had the raw chicken on it. Definitely one of my favorite spots to grab something to eat. My water polo teammates and I come here all the time. Their breakfast burritos, omelets, sandwiches, and smoothies are great! I'd been wanting to check this place out for a while because I've heard great things, so a few girlfriends and I decided to give it a go. There was live music when we walked in, which I always like to see. But, it was a hot day and there's plenty of outdoor seating so we grabbed a table outside. I'm glad a friend of mine that I was with had been there before, because I was waiting to be seated, not realizing you order at the counter, take a number and they bring your order to you. So we headed back to the counter to check out a menu and wait in line. They had deserts in the display case that looked pretty awesome, and although the menu was a bit lengthy, making the decision of what I wanted a tough one, the food offered looked tasty. I liked that they had GF and vegan options to chose from, even though I am neither, but have many friends that have dietary restrictions, so it's good to know I can bring them there. I finally decided on the fish and chips, and my friends ordered the crab cake sandwich and the snapper and mango wrap. There were many people behind the counter, running around, all of them looking overwhelmed and unhappy to be there. That would be the only complaint, is the staff looked less than enthused to be there, and it showed. My friends and I were wondering why everyone behind the counter was scrambling and looked so overwhelmed...seeing as the customer places their order, takes their own drinks to the table and chooses where they want to sit. So the only help from the staff that I could see was them bringing you your plate of food. Perhaps they were short staffed the day we came in, who knows... While waiting to order, we were asked what we wanted to drink by several people behind the counter, but had to wait until we reached the woman at the register to order our food. We placed our orders, and our food arrived within about 10 minutes. It was pretty good, not great, but good and filling. I'll give this place another try because it wasn't bad and they are located near my home, but the overall experience itself was slightly "blah". I hope next time I come in for some lunch or breakfast, the staff is a little happier to be there, or at least hiding their annoyance of their job a little better. read more
