My husband found the spot so we gave it a try. We came in around 9am on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. We were lucky enough to grab 2 seats at the counter to avoid the wait. They serve lunch item during breakfast which I love but I did end up just getting a side of biscuits and gravy. All home made and so good ! The side was the perfect amount for me and for my husband to steal a few bites. We will definitely stop in again because I see other things on the menu that I need to try. My sister has been here before and constantly raves about this restaurant. We decided to go and give it a try today. Service was super slow. We got there at 11 we were seated immediately and it took them about 30 minutes to take our order. Not to mention that the original girl who came to talk to us, was only able to take our drinks and she told us that another server would come back to get our actual food order. The mocha oaxaqueño was actually pretty good. The actual food I got was all right. To be honest it's a little strange when you go to a restaurant and the coffee is better than the actual plate. I got the chilaquiles, normally when you get this plate anywhere else, everything is kind of mixed together, which gives everything a good flavor. In this case the eggs were separated from the chorizo, which was also kind of separated from the actual chilaquiles. Since they were all separated, you couldn't really taste the flavor on the eggs or the chorizo of the Chilaquiles. Therefore, I was not a fan of the dish. I will say that while we were there, no one came to check on us or ask us if we liked our food or if we needed anything. The place inside is very loud and packed. Anyways, it was a little strange to eat somewhere where the server hardly talks to you in a restaurant that is kind of empty. I'm not really sure that the food was good enough for me to come back. I was visiting my daughter who lives nearby and she brought me to Marvin's for breakfast. I didn't expect much and was pleasantly impressed. We arrived about 10:30 am on a Sunday Parking lot is quite full but we found parking easily. Happy to say that spots are decently sized so cars are too close to each other. We were seated immediately. Warning ... the menu is pretty big for a person with any trouble making decisions (me). I never asked if I could order lunch at this time (which I usually prefer lunch) I decided on the chicken fried steak since I love it and it's not something that I would ever make at home. Daughter usually gets the breakfast sandwich but went with the sausage and cheese omelet. Both came with toast and a choice of hash browns or potatoes. We both picked hash browns and they were amazing. Daughter opted out of toast and we shared mine. My chicken fried steak was amazing. Possibly the best I've ever had I tasted her omelet and it was tasty Hashbrowns were perfect An array of hot sauces were on table with we didn't need to request it. The cutest thing about this place was that each table had different and adorable salt and pepper shakers. Space was super clean. Staff was working hard and were fabulously friendly. Thank you fellow Yelpers for your insight on Marvin's! As expected on a Sunday there is a bit of a wait for a table (just for 2 of us), but it wasn't bad. The place was very busy. There's counter seating for those who would like to be served more quickly. Since I'm trying to eat low carb I opted for their Joe's Scramble with a side of fruit and hubby went with their Country Fried Steak with hash browns, over medium eggs, & an English muffin. He said it was one of the best Country Fried steaks he's ever had. I enjoyed my scramble and the hot coffee. Friendly service with smiles. I liked it here very much. There is a bit of a wait for staff to take our order, but it wasn't terribly long. Looking forward to trying other things next time! read more

I've picked up a few orders from Marvin's and decided it was time to try it for myself! I got the breakfast burrito, my partner got the Marvin's sandwich, and we got a zuchinna sticks to share. The breakfast burrito was delicious, fresh bell pepper, nice ratio of filling, and perfect size. I tried a bite of the sandwich as well, it was crispy on outside and soft gooey meaty cheesy bacony inside. The zuchinni sticks had to be my fav part tho. The way they make them with fresh quartered zuchinni slaps! Food was great and service was also. Very attentive and polite waitstaff, who seemed to work together to keep their patrons happy. If you or your loved ones enjoy browsing shelf tchotchkes, they have a shelf lining the store with wonderful statues and figures to gaze up at, giving a quaint, homely feel to the restaurant. So popular you might have to wait! HUGE venue with loads of seating, they seem to have colonized the whole site! Why did we go? My kid graduated from HS, Grandma in town to celebrate, we let my son pick since it is "his weekend"! He and his crew got taken their by a very generous Tech High teacher for a pre exam breakfast, loved the food, wanted to go back. he was not wrong, equal caliber to hanks and Hillside up by our house in SR, for about 10 to 20 percent less cost. Bad (spoiled) food, bad service, bad ambiance & bad view... today my daughter and I stopped in here for lunch after discovering the Hunan Chinese restaurant next door was closed. We sat in the booth at the opposite end of the restaurant and after several minutes we were given menus and utensils by a loud, abrupt older woman. The several ceiling light fixtures have glaringly bright bulbs and right outside the window next to us was a large bag of garbage sitting on a chair with stuff poking out of the bag. We lowered the blind so we wouldn't have to see the garbage. My daughter had hot chocolate that tasted like it came from a 1970's vending machine -- watery and artificial. It wasn't super busy at that time but our server acted rushed and annoyed -- no smile, not friendly at all. My daughter ordered Marvin's green salad and added bleu cheese to it, but we sat there for 15 mins til I finally asked the Server to bring her salad first. The salad was horrible since the bleu cheese sprinkled all over it was spoiled! My daughter had also added bleu cheese to her grilled chicken sandwich, but because the salad came late, we thought it'd be too late to change her order and omit the blue cheese from her sandwich. It came just then and she tried scraping off the bleu -- didn't work. It was so bad, everything tasted like ammonia or Comet cleanser! She also ordered curly fries which the Server forgot to order so they arrived late. I had ordered the Joe's Special (scrambled eggs with ground beef, spinach, mushrooms, cheddar cheese, and I added diced ham,) with country potatoes, side of salsa & sourdough toast. The potatoes were burnt, the scramble close to burnt, and there was NO FLAVOR distinction between any of the ingredients: the mushrooms, spinach, beef, ham, cheddar & potatoes ALL TASTED THE SAME -- BLAND! And the ham was full of cartiledge! Only the mild salsa had flavor but it tasted canned. Even the sourdough toast was like white bread. I asked for jam and got a tiny paper thimble filled with dark pink liquid -- I didn't touch it. We left most of our food on our plates. I told the Server about the spoiled bleu and she said, "That's interesting." I didn't ask her to take the salad or sandwich off the tab, as I didn't want her bad attitude getting worse and upsetting my daughter, (she has special needs and is super sensitive.) The Server stood over me as I chose her tip on the handheld checkout device and I gave her 20% but she didn't deserve it. So we spent $60+ on an overall crappy experience and vowed to never return! read more

First time visitor to Marvin's and I am now a fan. The restaurant was pretty packed on a Friday morning when we arrived, and shortly after being seated, there became a wait to be seated. This surprised me for a weekday mid morning. I took it as a good sign that it's popular for a reason. We decided to have breakfast here as we had a coupon from a sports fundraiser booklet we purchased for a buy one get one free entree. It is nice to know that they support local youth sports programs. I had the two eggs breakfast with sausage and bacon, and opted for the hash browns and sourdough toast. Everything was prepared to my liking, including lots of butter on the perfectly toasted bread. It also came with a little side of homemade jam that was really tasty. I was happy that the meats were of high quality and had good flavor. My honey had the full stack pancake breakfast. I kept stealing bites of his pancakes because they were so good. Definitely going to be one of my orders on future visits. The Orange juice is fresh squeezed and full of natural pulp as they prepare it fresh on site. They use farm fresh eggs as well. It just doesn't get any better than this! read more

The chilaquiles were okay but were not as flavorful as other places. They were not as spicy as I would have liked. I think I'll stick to a sandwich next time around. The BLT looked good. Really HOMEMADE Corn beef hash! I'm old and like these kind of comfort food. Mom would make hers from a can but would add onions and bell peppers. Crispy on both sides. Plus 2 eggs, your choice of either home fries, hash brown, or something else ( I forget) and your choice of bread. Some much food. Taking the rest to work tomorrow. I was craving chicken fried steak and eggs but did not want to go to a chain restaurant to get it. I grew up in the Midwest and no a good chicken fried steak when I have one. I've lived in California for 37 years and some change And I have to say, this was the best breakfast I've had this side of the Missouri river in that 37 years short of something that I cooked in my own kitchen. All the servers were very busy and the kitchen was busting out orders on muscle memory with no delays. The ambience was nice because it felt like a local café with regulars teasing the staff and having a fun time while enjoying a great breakfast. This was a taste of my Midwest roots and one that I will enjoy often because I only live about 4 miles from it. If there were six stars I'd check that one too. This was my first time at Marvin's restaurant from the moment we walked in i noticed the Knick knacks all over the wall. It has a country home feeling. The restaurant has both booths and tables. We were told to sit anywhere we'd like so we chose a booth. One of the servers came up to us with menus and asked if we wanted anything to drink, I chose the fresh squeezed oj which I'm usually hesitant to order because it typically is not fresh squeezed. This oj was fresh and sweet which I was very happy about. I ordered the green chilaquiles with over easy eggs and medium rare steak. My boyfriend ordered the French toast with a side a bacon and sourdough toast. The food came quickly and it was hot. I bit in and the food was delicious! My boyfriend said his food was good. I was a bit bummed because we were not offered jelly or refills. It took a minute to receive our bill which is understandable because the restaurant filled quickly! Our total ended up being $55.61. I will say the price is fair. Overall the food was delicious and I will be back to have the chilaquiles again. read more

I have been coming to Marvin's Restaurant in Cotati for a while now and this place never disappoints. It gets busy very quickly but it's worth it. The staff is efficient and are always excellent with their service. I like that their menu has a large variety to choose from. So many options and all are tasty. My favorite is the chilaquiles. Not sure if the older guy who was our server was having an off day but he didn't bother to check in. He dropped our food off and then handed our check when he saw we were finishing up. First timer, the food was very tasty and I recommend this spot. We arrive, party of three, plus 2 fur babies and chose to sit outside as it was a crisp sunny day, we arrived at 2 ish. pm and sat outside, my husband went inside to get a few menus, but once he did the server was out asking us for our drink orders, when she returned with our drinks we're placed our order, the food was served quickly. We ordered French toast with eggs and sausages,the linguisa and eggs and the chorizo chilaquiles , all three dishes were very good. The sauce on the chilaquiles was awesome, but I unfortunately for me the chorizo was too spicy for me and I didn't enjoy the heat although the flavor of the dish was Very good. One odd thing was that the server brought out the sugar container and asked us many sugar packets we each needed and gave us what we asked for and took the container inside! How strange, I thought.
