This is a decent little deli in forest hills. I have tried a few of there sandwiches, hot and cold. There grilled chicken breast hero with lettuce mayo American cheese jalapeno peppers is very tasty. I also had a Turkey and American cheese with beef salami hero mayo,which I enjoyed. I stopped in on a whim because I was tired of eating McDonald's breakfast everyday. Besides wanting to drop a few more lbs before I go back to work I decided to get a healthy breakfast. I thought orders had to be placed with the cashier so I waited on line behind two customers that were in front of me. A woman came in and headed towards the back of the deli. I didn't think much of it until a man appeared and she placed her order. My first thought was this woman cut the line but then I quickly realized that orders are placed at the deli counter and I should move my ass along. I placed a to-go order for both breakfast and lunch. For my breakfast I ordered a lightly toasted whole wheat bagel with butter and jelly. As well as a hazelnut iced coffee. The coffee was good but needed more ice. I love cold drinks. For lunch I ordered a lightly toasted roll with honey turkey, muenster cheese, a little bit of spicy mustard, and a little bit of mayo. The cash register is oddly placed in the middle of the deli where long lines are formed making it sometimes impossible to place your order at the deli counter. I really wish that Redwood Deli would consider renovating so that there's no confusion. read more

So apparently this place recently went through construction. I know they were closed for a couple of weeks because I've been trying to call but it was never going through. Before this construction I would always order the "Chicken Caesar Salad" which is my favorite and I am in love with it from this location. Today is the first day that I finally got in touch with them to order my beloved "Chicken Caesar Salad" and boy am I disappointed. I have no idea if it's new management because the chef seems to be the same but I literally only had a few pieces of salad. The rest of it was just croutons and chicken. Barely and Lettuce in this salad. And it's such a shame because I spent about $20 on a salad. I think I will not be ordering back from here. read more

Been living in this neighborhood for over a decade and I walk past this deli on the way to Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and other local shops frequently. However, I've only purchased from them less than 5 times the entire time. Here is why. This took place at 6:36am. I'm appreciative that they open by 6am. Wanted something fresh and not precooked like the others. I entered this long walkway all the way to the back. There were already 3 other customers so I figured they were decent. There were 2 cash registers. The one on the right had a sign that said "Order Here" and that's where I stood. Everybody else just ran to the other register to order. I was confused but I'm pretty compliant so I waited. After looking at their website this morning, I decided to order a "Bacon and Egg" on roll x 2. Imagine the response I got? "We don't have eggs here." Not, we are out of eggs or we will get a delivery later. Not, "May I offer you a bagel, muffin or pastry?" "We don't have eggs here." LOL. Attached is a picture from their website where EGGS are readily available. You're a deli, yet you don't have eggs. Look at the pictures shown by other customers. NO eggs? I call bs. Sometimes, you don't know whether to laugh or cry when faced with stupidity. I left empty handed and probably won't be back just as I haven't visited over the past decade. read more

Not a lot to see from the customers side of the counter, one small beverage reach in cooler held fruit salad, desserts and limited cold beverages. The premade salads, chicken breasts and spreads looked slightly tired for "made fresh daily" but nothing struck me as in need of immediate removal. One employee at the register, one behind the counter expediting orders, grabbing incoming calls. The resister gal needed to speed up her fingers or slow down the jibber jabber. Orders were stacking up fast and pleasantry to locals must take a back seat. Tremendous array of lunch sandwiches, hero's, panninis and wraps all cost between $7.00 and $9.00. Soup of the day and salad with vast add ons from vegetables to dried fruits, cheeses and meats. Breakfast served all day long so I went with my typical bacon, egg and American cheese on a roll. Relatively inexpensive and truely a well made sandwich, it was impressive as to price and quality. Redwood has a full catering menu which I'd guess amounts to a fair chunk of their business as they have multiple catering packages available. read more

I came in on what was apparently quiet a busy day during their lunch hour. This must be the place where all them folks from the courthouse and medical offices come to eat. I didn't have trouble finding a table which was a good thing as they can comfortable seat 20 amongst the sofa seats and table pairs. I took advantage of the YELP DEAL ($20 for $30 worth of food/drinks). OR I could have easily use the Yelp check-in deal 10 percent off their 2 sizes (6 oz & 12 oz) of Angus burger. Obviously, you can't use BOTH at the same time. Womp Womp. Service - The service was friendly from the get go while keeping the line swiftly moving. Standard set-up with the cashier towards the front and order from the back. Everyone was wearing sani-gloves as far as the eyes can see = 2 THUMBS UP. A on their Health Code proudly displayed = ANOTHER 2 THUMBS UP. The owner was there I believe taking the orders and he was not only friendly but he pretty much knew the regulars by name as they came into the shop. As I was eating, the owner came up to check on me and how his sandwiches were. Could be because I used a Yelp deal = giveaway as a Yelper... But either way he gave me a coupon for future purchase and a menu. Yes, they deliver as well. The FOOD - I ordered 4 sammies to get a good sense of their sandwich making skills. I must say that the Sausage & Ham sammy that I wanted was unavailable because they ran out of sausage that day...was kind of disappointed after taking 20 minutes to decide on what I wanted to order. 1) Philly Cheese Steak - People seemed to RAVE about this and their Grub star. This sandwich did not disappoint. The steak was nice and tender. The flavor was good but not the best I've had considering I frequent Philly for the real thing often. The bread was nicely semi grilled and the meat filled in between the bread completely as it SHOULD. However, the onions is where my beef lay. The onions was chopped instead of slices like strings which would have been fine except they were towards the BOTTOM of the sammy. This no only muffles the flavors of the onions but there weren't enough onions in it to begin with. A perfect Philly has the onion's acidity on point to counter the salty meat. Raw washed chopped onions would have also been better. A much better way would have been shoe string onions, SLIGHTLY grilled and put on TOP of the Philly cheese steak. The sandwich was good regardless but it could have been great. A MUST TRY. 2) Meatball Parm Hero - This was a top-notch meatball sammy. The meatballs was tender, fresh, and just delish. The mozzarella was fresh and that melty gooeyness was just divine. However, I think there could have been more marinara sauce even if it was a dipping sauce. The bread was soggy and weren't really toasted that well especially for a meatball sandwich. It was also a pinch too salty but that can be adjusted easily. It was perfect otherwise. A MUST TRY. 3) Cuban This was actually better than I expected it to be. I normally don't get Cubans from deli shops but they did an excellent job with the meats and the bread. The flavors popped as they should and I would gladly order this sandwich again when I revisit. Again, this was a pinch too salty but otherwise PERFECT. A MUST TRY. 4) Reuben I would have thought this was their 2nd best sandwich after their Philly but it was not. Unlike the other sammies that were wrapped with sandwich paper and aluminum foil, this sammy came in a aluminum circular take-out box. Okay... From the presentation I would have mistaken it for a messy something or other. It just looks like a huge glob of melted cheese on top of 2 thick layers of corned beef. Pickles on the side. It was served split open for presentation. The bread wasn't the firmest from the get go which is NOT to be confused with stale. Firm simply means grilled or toasted well to give it that crunch factor and to hold the meats firmly in place. The sauerkraut tasted off. Either it wasn't fresh or they intentionally grilled it too much and the acidity was subdued. Either way it wasn't good. The meat was tasty and that was probably about it. SKIP. Overall, this is a great place to grab lunch as they also serve soup aside from sammies. They also sell beer, although I'm not sure if they sell it singularly because all I saw was packs in the fridge. I will ask next time. They close early around 11pm. This place is way over priced. A regular turkey and cheese on a roll is $10 bucks. Totally ridiculous, you can get a better roll with the same turkey at the super market deli up the block for $6. The staff is extremely rude when there is a rush. Unable to mange a demanding request. As a long time patron of this restaurant, Oscar was not at all reasonable after a mistake on Grubhub's part where there was a mistake with the account. I was hung up on after calling to inquire about my order that was already 20 mins past the scheduled time. The had the wrong number and apparently no apt number but yet the delivery person did not ring the bell that matched the name of the order? I had to come down to the restaurant to have a conversation since I was hung up on . I would have been willing to call Grubhub myself and have a credit or have Grubhub pay for half of the now 40 late food because I liked this place or even just pay half so the restaurant wouldn't lose any $ but Oscar didn't want to hear it just said please I have other orders. Not super impressed with the vegetable panini. The saying "less is more" applies perfectly to this panini, it would be much better without mushy cauliflower and big chunks of carrots. Too many mixed vegetables pressed between two slices of bread aren't always a great idea. Besides that the service was ok, around 3 pm it's empty. Maybe the veggie panini isn't their forte, if I do go back it'll be for the eggplant panini, but I'm not necessarily in a rush. read more

I won't patronize this place anymore. 3 times is too many times to experience bad service. There is one guy in particular who is rude/ not paying attention/doesn't care/lazy. I dunno what it is with him. I ask him for juice instead of coffee and when he gives me the coffee, I say I asked for juice and he literally told me "you never said that". Wtf? Are you kidding me. Also when I ask you to toast a bagel, please don't give it to me charred and blackened. And please do not say to your customers "do you want it or not?" Umm no I don't want it. He proceeded to explain how the toaster is broken and he had to put it in the panini press. I don't care. Go to the Target down the street and buy yourself a 17 dollar toaster. Or if you know the panini press is hotter than the toaster, take it out 30 seconds before. But you're going you assume a customer is going to pay for blackened bread?? GTFOH. read more

Excellent Deli. The bread is great, the ingredients are always high quality and fresh, and they're not afraid to get creative with their sandwiches. Their homemade chipotle mayo is indredicle on everything, and the Mexican food is also surprisingly delicious. As for the staff they're all top notch, and the owner, Dan, seems to know about all 500 of his regulars by name. This is a great deli! My boyfriend and I wanted to pick up sandwiches quickly so we ordered ahead on the yelp app. It was paid and ready to go when we got there. We were not disappointed with the sandwiches. I was able to customize what I liked, which was good to not have to pick a specialty sandwich. They can do any type of size whether you want a big hero or a roll. The sandwich tasted fresh. The place seems small and the appearance inside is a little outdated, but the food doesn't disappoint. Only reason I gave a lower star was because of the appearance of the place and the cleanliness looked a little mediocre. They do have a convenient location, but some updates could do good for the business. read more

The food is decent here but not worth the hassle or price. Every time I've been in here, I am ignored for about 10 minutes at a miniumum. Staff won't even make eye contact with you until they are "ready" to take your order. Then when they do they are RUDE and unpleasant, like you are inconveniencing them by making them do their job. Then it takes forever for them to finally make your order. The other day, in order to help combat these problems, I tried to phone in ahead of time and pick it up. That didn't go well either. First, I asked whether any of their soups were vegetarian (they have a lentil soup, a vegetable soup and a veggie chili but you can't just assume these aren't made with some kind of beef or chicken stock, you know?). The woman on the phone "didn't know, because the morning staff makes the food so [she] had no idea what was in it". First of all - REALLY? You don't know what's in your food? Ok then, maybe you should consider asking someone else, maybe?! Nope. Aright then, I said, I'd like to order a salad. I proceeded to tell her what I wanted, using the menu I grabbed the day prior. They didn't have several things on the menu for the salad. Still, I was not even that annoyed at this point. So I wait about 10 to 15 minutes and I head across the street to pick up my order. When I get there I am (surprise) IGNORED. Then when I say I had a salad for pick up, they look at me like I'm crazy. Another 5 minutes go by and the girl says, "which salad was yours?". I say "For Taryn, I phoned it in about a half hour ago". More discussion, not in English, so I can't understand it. They finally figure out that it's not been made yet. Not only this but no one seems to really care. So now I am getting annoyed. It takes them another 15 minutes to produce my salad (in the middle of which she comes over to me and says "we don't have spicy mozzarella. I reply, "good because that's not what I asked for"). Then it ends up costing me $10 for the salad and a drink. No apologies for the wait or the mix up, nothing. Never. Again. This place sucks. If I could give it fewer than one star, I would read more

Even if the food at Redwood was good, I would still consider it overpriced. They have a few options that you won't find elsewhere in the neighborhood like stuffed peppers, chicken marsala and salsbury steak. Unfortunately, none of their food is even remotely freshly prrepared but, instead, sits in trays waiting to be nuked. Redwood also has a large selection of drinks, many of which you don't see in most delis, particularly in Queens. The row of drink coolers looks more like something you'd see at Whole Foods than a Queens deli but without so many types of bottled water. If you're really in the mood to try something slightly different for lunch get something here and you'll remember why you always get something at the place across the street, instead. read more

When you work along the Blvd, Redwood Deli is a good place to come to for lunch. The crowds can get a bit long since court is nearby. However, this is one of the best, fresh food spots in the area. They have great salads in the deli section and give samples. The only downside is that it can get a bit pricey. If it wasn't for that and me trying to save a bit money, I would come here on a more regular basis. read more

Oscar and Martin are the homies for life. My friends and I had a crazy night in the city last night. Woke up around 10:30 craving breakfast food and finally got out the door around 1230 to realize that there weren't too many spots on Queens Blvd that were still serving breakfast. Accidentally discovered this place and fell in love immediately. I got 2 scrambled eggs with cheese, a crap load of home fries and a bagel for only $6.50! It was delicious and perfect for a post-club night in the city. They even brought our food to the cute wicker furniture that we posted up at. We proceeded to stay here for a couple hours, eating, laughing and chatting. I loved the feeling of the place because so many neighborhood folks came through. They have a wide variety of food choices: from mashed potatoes and paella to fresh and premade sandwiches to BREAKFAST! My friend ordered a Greek salad and they made it fresh for her. It was so big that she had a lot left over and asked them to put it in a to go container. But they didn't quite understand what she meant so instead they accidentally threw it away. We got caught up in our conversation and realized that she hadn't gotten her doggy bag yet. She went back to the counter and they were so apologetic that they made her an entirely NEW salad to take home for free. AWESOME customer service. All in all it was the perfect start to a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I would definitely recommend coming here. read more
