Breakfast was really good. The coffee has a strong and clean taste. Ambiance is what you'd expect of a cafe. Service though - really good. Breakfast came fast and the people were friendly. Boonville is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and it's an awesome little town. We were passing through when the hungries hit. Boy did we luck into a great place. It says burgers and sandwiches on the sign, but they have some of the best fried chicken I've ever had anywhere. They use a corn flower batter on their chicken and fish and both are awesome. So tender and moist. Their menu is mostly Mexican food besides the burgers and I can't say anything on it other than the beans and rice that came with our meal was also delicious. This is a one stop has it all. Besides the restaurant with inside and outside dining, there is a nice convenience store and fuel for your wheels too. The service was great. So if you're going from nowhere to nowhere on CA-128 through Boonville, stop for some fabulous chicken. read more

Food is old, hard and no flavor. The owners (multiple family members own this establishment) have the most egregious attitudes ever. The owners family members use the dinning area as a hang out spot to serve dirty looks intentionally making customers feel very uncomfortable and unwelcomed. The eating area inside is used as a living room with their personal belongings strewn around where customers are supposed to be able to eat. It's always empty. I tried being kind but have been met with foul looks and treatment so I'll no longer be supporting this local trash can any longer. No wonder the locals never eat here...or anyone else for that matter. This is supposed to be a professional establishment, not your alleyway. read more

I gave this place one star for two reasons. One because there wasn't anything less and two because they had food. And I used the word food loosely. $12 for a bacon cheeseburger with a frozen squished flat quarter pound patty on a gigantic bun. It was dry and tasteless. The bacon was like beef jerky. We ended up just taking it off and throwing it away. The french fries were frozen and barely cooked. The bathroom was frightening. All the tables in the restaurant were dirty and they weren't busy. Headed back home from the coast and stumbled upon this little hidden gem. Menu had burgers, sandwiches and Mexican. We split taco salad and fajitas and our son had a mushroom Swiss burger. Everything was delicious. My only complaint is that they charged $.50 for a cup with ice in order for us to consume a glass bottle of apple cider which they sold to us. I think that after purchasing a meal for three, you could have given us the cups for free, but, like I said everything else was very good. Will definitely be back. read more

I bought a burger from there on Dec 20th, 2023 and the bun had MOLD on it!! Then when I called them and asked to speak to a manager the lady on the phone (whom I found out was the OWNER) acted like she couldn't understand English. Then proceeds to say she will tell a manager, which I stated, I ASKED TI SPEAK TO THE MANAGER and then she hung up on me. The burger was brought back there and the lack of customer service and being unapologetic and just blaming it on the cook. This is the owner acting completely unprofessional!! My sister and I were traveling back to Napa, after a 3 day getaway in Fort Bragg. We got the "Hangries". Our initial plan was to have brunch at the Boonville Hotel. After approaching the doors we saw they only serve dinner. Bummer... We had passed the Redwood on our way into town and said.." Let's just go back there". From the outside you'd think it was a full sized restaurant, but it's actually a small dining area in front and a gas station/ mini mart in back? We walked in and were a bit unsure what the protocol was? The gentleman at the order window ( so VERY kind and attentive), handed us a breakfast menu and said "Just order, pay, and I'll do the rest"!!! Ok then!! We sat at a small window seat and with in 10 minutes, here he comes with our perfect and most delicious breakfast! If you're ever passing through you must stop. It has many options including a large Mexican Food menu. I'd go back just for the gorgeous ride and to try another epic dish! I give them 5 stars for Food, Service and most off Kindness. My daughter and I were out wine tasting and were just looking for a place that was open for lunch when we more or less stumbled into the Redwood Drive-In. All I can say is "Wow, I think I just ate the most incredibly delicious Beef Torta of my life!!!@. The bread was incredibly fresh and soft, the beef marinated to perfection, and the pickled jalapeños added an incredible counterpoint to the overall taste and texture of the sandwich. Bravo!! We left Mendocino early, driving along the gorgeous Rte 128, planning to have breakfast in Santa Rosa or Rohnert Park, but hunger and caffeine withdrawal hit as we got to Booneville. The friendly owner and cook greeted us. We chose traditional eggs over easy, bacon, hash browns, and toast and coffee. Very disappointing lunch: taco salad in a fried shell that reeked of rancid grease. Contents were sparse layer of iceberg lettuce with very spicy salsa and (maybe American?) cheese. I asked for chicken but the mixture I got was unrecognizable, maybe canned chili with chunks? Hubby's turkey, bacon and cheese: 1slice of (American?) cheese, 2 thin slices of bacon, 1 deli slice turkey--and it was greasy. Only saving grace is the service was great, staff friendly and helpful. There is nothing exceptional about Redwood Drive-In. The menu is not gourmet. They don't boast about artisan recipes or organic ingredients. There is no intentional vintage kitsch. It's just an old diner that doesn't know how to be anything else. And that's why it makes a great breakfast stop. Breakfast is hard to mess up: eggs, pancakes, bacon. It's really not complicated, and Redwood Drive-In gets that. They take basic breakfast staples, do them well, and add some Mexican flair. I had the breakfast tostada: two fried eggs, pinto beans, avocado and cheese on a greasy tostada. After a weekend of wine tasting, this is exactly the kind of meal you want in your belly. My travel companions had the stack of hot cakes, which came extra fluffy with a vase of maple syrup on the side. Simple, filling, cheap, and tasty. The coffee is pretty terrible, there are no espresso drinks offered, and the orange juice is most-likely Minute Maid. But, if you want good cheap breakfast grub on the go, you'll find plenty to love at Redwood. read more

Um. No thanks. We only came here because we needed gas and my family needed to use the restroom. It was gross and a little weird. First of all, the toilets didn't flush and they didn't have any paper towels to dry your hands. Thankfully we had some hand sanitizer. The weird part was the sight of the store selling tighty-whitey underwear next to selling o0ld coffee, next to selling oil. Just weird. Do not eat here! I've been sick for two days now after eating lunch at this joint. Seizing stomach cramps, upset stomach, the works. I ordered an enchilada dish that was not good. A sweetish red sauce covered everything, the ingredients were mostly unrecognizable, and they put a couple of thin overcooked slabs of chicken on top of it all. Though I only ate half of it, I'm still dealing with the effects. The food was overpriced as well. My advice- Eat somewhere else. Also, the staff is not very friendly. Great location, you can't miss the place. The restrooms are SPOTLESS!! The Owner takes pride in cleaning the bathrooms twice a day to make sure us customers are satisfied. My family and I were driving from Fort Bragg and was looking for a place to eat that had good reviews. We picked this place because it looked cute and had good food. First they messed up on the drinks and when we went back to get the Correct ones we were questioned and they wanted to see the receipt. My husband ordered menudo and asked for hominy, when it came there wasn't any hominy. He politely said I asked for hominy, the women said what is that, with an attitude! He finally said can I just get fish and chips. She said ok but I have to charge you more. Fine. When the dish came it was chicken strips!! We took it back and she gave us our money back but was very rude and we felt uncomfortable. When we were leaving I went and asked for a box to take our left over food home and she looked at me rudely and said what is that??! I said I would like to take my food, she got a container and threw it on the counter and walked away. I was really upset because I was treated like that. Chicken Burrito is what we supposedly ordered. At $12 it is a highway ripoff, but we hoped we'd at least get our money's worth. It looked giant, but we kept hunting to find the chicken which seemed to have gotten away.
