Outstanding service food and ambiance. Very friendly, good food. A real gem in the tiny town.

We ended up at Kelly's Diner after checking into our hotel since not much was open, and it came recommended to us. The diner itself is clean, neat, and well maintained, and right away we noticed how friendly the staff was. Our server, May, was a total sweetheart--very kind, accommodating, and attentive. She truly stood out and made us feel welcome. Honestly, she would be a great manager if she isn't already. Unfortunately, there were a few issues. The first thing we noticed was that there was no hot water in the bathroom, which isn't ideal--especially on a cold night and from a hygiene perspective. Ray ordered the ribeye steak and was pretty disappointed. While it was $28, it lacked flavor and didn't have a proper sear or crust--it was gray and just not enjoyable. I ordered the vintage burger on toasted sourdough, and that was actually very good. I enjoyed it and thought it was well done. I really like to give full stars when they're deserved, but this experience just didn't quite add up. Great service and a clean space, but the food inconsistency and no hot water made it hard to rate higher. Hopefully these are things that can be improved because the staff--especially May--was excellent. read more

Only a few mainly locals were there on the early morning after the 4th of July so we had our choice of seats. All wre clean and welcoming. The server greeted us and took the drink order... no specials but a good selection of different items. My wife alwayorders eggs Benedict when offered and I selected the Italian sausage omelette with marinara sauce as it was a bit unusual. The hollandaise sauce was a bit sweet, but that seems to be a common trait in Califirnia. The Italian o m elected did not disappoint, though I'd prefer mozerrrala instead of cheddder, though there was freshly s h aged parmesean on top. The country fries were OK, but Irish potatoes would be more in taking with a name like Kellys. Coffee was a bit weak fir my taste. Overall a good place... 4.5 stars. read more

This is a cute diner, but the service was not the greatest. I ordered the Redwood club and the chick was pretty dry and the avocado was firm. The peperjack cheese was not melted, therefore didn't have that melt feel to the sando. My husband got chicken fried steak and asked for a English muffin in place of the biscuit, the sever brought out both and said he could have them both since she forgot to specify that he didn't want a biscuit. We got our bill and she charged him 3.50 for the English muffin. We had it fixed but still, c'mon. read more

Most restaurants were closed on a Tuesday afternoon, but Kelly's was open so I popped in with low expectations. Wow, I was wrong! Friendly service when I placed a phone to-go order. My husband really enjoyed the chicken fried steak breakfast. Our kids liked the pancake, eggs and bacon. One of the pancakes in our short-stack order was burned and unable to eat...we didn't notice at first because it was the bottom pancake. Fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious. read more

Kelly's diner is a very nice, very clean restaurant with easy parking and both inside and outside places to eat. The breakfast really cannot be beat. The coffee is really amazingly good. The orange juice is fresh squeezed!! Eggs are cooked perfectly every time and the regular egg plates give you 3 eggs, which I appreciate because I love eggs and am a total egg snob. They know how to cook an egg so the yolk is runny and warm, but the white is perfectly set and neither runny nor burnt. Not an easy feat! The plates are gleaming and there is always a pretty piece of fruit on the plate. The hash browns are crispy, the pancakes are awesome and you can get real maple syrup. The servers are always smiling and aim to please. You have two kinds of sausage to choose from and both and really really good. The California Benedict is delicious - it has avocado and bacon bits! Oh - and that delicious orange juice? It makes delicious mimosas, too! Trying to find "something" to improve? Well, the gravy for the biscuits and gravy is pretty bland - they could use some salt and spices. Oh, and the chandeliers are just weird and gives out the Hilton convention center vibe rather than the sweet diner vibe, which it deserves. But you cannot go wrong with Kelly's!! Also -- the owner is a very sweet man who works hard cooking in the kitchen - he has his eyes on everything to make sure you get a great meal. read more

Worst chicken fried steak ever. This is our 3rd time here. The previous two times the food was already meh. Unfortunately, this is the only restaurant opened early in the area. We came again, ordered the Mexican skillet and chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy. Mexican skillet was meh. Simply not good at all. Chicken fried steak and especially the hash browns were abominable. Gravy was awful. Hash browns was super greasy, one bite and the inside of the mouth was coated with oil. On to chicken fried steak, the crust was hard. It tells me that the way they served it was as such: 1st fried up the steak ahead of time, 2nd put it in the freezer, 3rd heat it in the microwave when someone orders it, 4th dump a bunch of gravy on it thinking that nobody will notice the hard crust. read more

Kelly's changed hands in November 2022 -- it used to be Cafe 77, and had been a regular breakfast stop when we found ourselves traveling up north on the 101. Happy to say that, although ownership has changed, the decor is the same clean, inviting place as before, the menu remains mostly the same (prices of course have risen a bit like every other restaurant still standing). Only wish the salsa served with the dish was larger (prolly couldda asked). the service is as friendly and attentive as before, becoming the standard by which other restaurants should be measured against (6 stars). I had the quesadilla; tastily assembled ham, cheese, and more between two large flour tortillas. My road partner had the breakfast sandwich -- think egg McMuffin on steroids. Both delicious and hazardously large portions -- you definitely can skip lunch. (5 stars I observed a number of locals also enjoying breakfast here, so I'm glad this place will flourish. read more

This is a very nice place for dinner with friendly people! I will definitely stop there again the next time I am in the area.

DO NOT EAT HERE. I asked for a lemon with my water, the lemon had mold on it... my friend's ranch was thicker than mayonnaise, tasted bad and very off colored. The food gave my husband diarrhea. The last three times have messed my stomach up the first two times I thought it was a fluke, but I now realize it's the restaurant. Do not eat here unless you want to get sick. read more
