Pros: service, ambiance, location (next door to our Airbnb) Cons: the food. I got the super quesadilla with asada (steak) and was pretty excited about it. We're up from the Bay, and it's been nice trying local places. But this quesadilla wasn't the best. Good amount of asada, but it was overcooked. They use mozzarella (?) and the sour cream is flavorless. Guacamole is a "sauce" that's thin and bears no resemblance to the flavor of guac, except in color. I suggest supporting this local business, but don't go expecting the best meal of your life. Or good Mexican food. read more

This is a review of the newly remodeled and reopened restaurant as of May, 2025. After a closure of about 2 years, Jorge and Maria completely redecorated and remodeled this venue into an excellent restaurant. Thanks to a larger side window its now bright and cheerful, with an elegant color scheme, new tables, flooring and chairs. It's a beautiful setting for their renowned, excellent Mexican food! Due to working outside all day, we were very hungry and just got takeout. We'll definitely return as it's such a nice setting to enjoy conversation and a meal. I had the Macha Burrito with carne asada as my meat choice. My wife ordered cheese enchiladas with refried beans. The burrito was HUGE and totally delicious, completely filling my empty stomach. The wife's order of enchiladas was nicely spiced accompanied with refried black beans and a small salad. The refried black beans was a unique and delicious touch for both the burrito and enchilada plate. I hope they continue it as it's not the usual base of pinto beans. There are other items on the menu to try, both Mexican and traditional American choices. On a future visit I'll post a photo of the menu. Great food and friendly people! The buildings right next door are vacation rentals, so it was perfect.

We are residents of the coast we've always known and read past reviews one day we thought would give it a try ourselves sadly disappointed it was crowded and there was waitlist which we thought would be good sign but the place couldn't handle the crowd whatsoever and the food was very basic and pricey. We waited over 30 mins for our meal. Food was not Mexucano at all. The shredded beef was presented as meat cubes.. the Carbojals can do it to make this a real restaurant stop on hwy 1 if they want to. The Birria and homemade tortillas are amazing and the horchata is some of the best I have had in a while.

We ate there last night. The restaurant gas recently re-opened and everything is new and fresh. The restaurant is famuly owned and run. The menu is a combination of Mexican standards and seafood.The portions are gengerous and reasonably priced as well as tasty. They also have a children's menu. I was impressed that the fish and chips was made of sea bass. The breading was light and the tarter sauce homemade. I think this restaurant is a really good bargain. read more

Stopped by on our way down Hwy 1. Best way to describe was Its Okay. The carnitas salad was plentiful but simple. Carnitas Lettuce Tomato and Bell pepper with ranch. Needed some guacamole and maybe some salsa. The fish tacos are really good. Not battered fried fish, rather grilled fish with awesome salsa. Would have loved some of that salsa on my salad. The food is good and this is a local business so do a local economy a favor stop by, there is a lot on the menu. read more

Food is not bad. For Codiv, order at the window and they have a few tables out front. Service needs improvement and environment not great. But it's the only place serving hot food in Point Arena that we could find. Overall ok. read more

I had the local rock fish tacos plate. The tacos we're good and came with rice and refried beans. The rice and beans were okay - not much flavor. Husband had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries. The sandwich was good with grilled chicken and onions, lettuce, tomato and cheese. Also had an espresso milkshake that went down well. Might go back to try the carne asada fries. There aren't very many choices of places to eat in Point Arena and opening hours are very limited. We ordered take out and the food held up fine. read more

Super cute place to stop. Family owned place. Super fresh and tasty Mexican offerings. They also have beer and sangria. How can you go wrong. The nicest folks and great service. It was okay. Not fantastic. Good portions. I had the california burrito. I didn't really like it, there wasn't a lot of flavor. I knew that it was coming with fries in the burrito, but they were so mushy it was like potatoes. My brother had the fish tacos. Each taco was 4 something. He got two. he liked them. Myself, my wife, and my friend and his wife went to Manchester for a week on vacation. Btw, Manchester is super relaxing and I highly recommend the KOA there. So, on day two we decided to go out for lunch. If we went north to Fort Bragg it would have taken a hour to get to a decent restaurant, so we decided to go south to Point Arena. We were in the mood for some sea food. We see a giant poster, atop a restaurant, with a giant pirate in the ocean, so we pulled in assuming it was seafood. Well, that's what we get for assuming. It ended up being a Mexican food restaurant. Oh well, we were already there and decided to eat Mexican food. Although we found the giant pirate poster a bit deceiving. We entered and it was extremely small, which is okay but unexpected because the building looked much bigger from the outside. We stood at the entrance for 5 minutes before grabbing menus and seating ourselves. As we were skimming to menu, limited and overpriced, I felt something on my leg. I look down and there was a scruffy looking little dog licking my shoe. My friend asked the cashier if the dog were hers and she said yes and went back to her work. We put the dog outside ourselves and the cashier closed the door. Our waitress came over and offered beverages. My friend ordered orange juice and I ordered ice tea. While our drinks were being prepared my friend went to use the restroom. He returned with a puzzled look. I made the mistake of asking what. He told me that there were several signs in the restroom asking patrons to place soiled toilet paper in the trash can and not to flush it. We understand that this may be normal behavior in Mexico, but this is America and that is disgusting and absolutely not needed. So as we were talking we got our food. Most of our meals were okay at best, until my friends wife took a bite of here fish and chips. She gagged and said no thank you. I took a bite of her fish and it tasted extremely dirty, like dirt. We paid the bill, took a picture, and left with the intention of never returning and warning everyone of this place. For those who posted anything more then 1 star is either related or works there. The server was very kind, affable, and accommodating, but the food wasn't good. Hubby had fish and chips that weren't bad (tartar sauce seemed to be just mayo mixed with yellow mustard), and I went for something called flautas, four rolled-up corn tortillas with meat inside (I chose chicken), deep-fried, on a bed of lettuce and diced tomatoes. Sounds good, right? Well, the tortillas were tooth-testing rock-hard and the chicken was equally as hard (chicken leather). Last, but not worst, it wasn't cheap! Oh well... Phenomenal food and service! The boyfriend and I both got super burritos, mine with chicken and his pastor. They were both delicious. This place is a 3rd rate taqueria at best. The service was very poor and the waitress's attitude was very apathetic. It is difficult to mess up a burrito, but this place still managed to do it. The meat was bland and tasteless and they filled the burrito with the same hot pepper sauce they give you with you corn chips making the burrito inedible (and I love hot sauce). The whole place just felt dirty, which should have been a warning, as I had what amounted to mild food poisoning for tburrito andhe next 2 days with the pepper sauce leading the charge. read more
