It's been many years since visiting GoodLife Cafe. Their set up has changed a bit since I last came here (7 years ago) in that it's now full service sit down for any orders in. They also now close at 2. On a sunny weekend day, even at 1:15, the line was out the door for both dine in and take out. It wasn't a long wait and they were accepting new tables right up until 2. They have a large covered patio seating area, which is quite popular, but we got seated inside. This time around, I tried the veggie egg sandwich which had a mushrooms and greens, on whole wheat toast. Their bread was quite good and the sandwich held together quite well. Service was lovely and it was a nice brunch in between adventures. They feature a small array of locally made art for sale as well as jewelry, honey and more! I was tempted by the pumpkin walnut muffins and kind of regret not getting one-next time. This spot is deservedly popular and a wonderful dining option in Mendocino.

Bit of a late review, but I went to Mendocino during the New Year and GoodLife Cafe was COMPLETELY PACKED even on a weekday. It was a bit confusing as they had two separate lines; one on the left for to-go coffee / pastry orders and one on the right for dine-in, which was wrapped out the door and spilled onto the sidewalk. There were about 6-7 parties ahead of me for to-go orders, which ended up translating to a 30 minute wait. Morning Bun (4/5): While this didn't have a light crunch on the outside, the bun was definitely super flaky with great lamination. Delicious pastry dusted with cinnamon sugar, what's not to love. Blackberry Cruffin (4/5): This is an absolute mess to eat and is quite sweet, but I enjoyed this wayyy more than I thought it would. This has a harder crunch on the outside compared to the morning bun and the custard is luxuriously thick with a generous amount of blackberry jam to add a bit of tartness (and more sweetness of course!). Definitely an item to share with a friend or two, but undeniably delicious!

Cute and cozy café that gets busy quickly. Service is pretty fast and the portions are big. My favorites are the hot toddy(non-alcoholic) and the maple pecan cinnamon bun. There is seating indoors and outdoors, but if you do get a chance to sit outdoors, you get to enjoy watching the local birds, fly around staring intently at your food. There is a mini gift shop in the café that is made by local artists and overall the vibes of this café/bakery is one that supports their community while also providing delicious food. I would recommend coming here if you get the chance.

We were scheduled to go here for breakfast over the weekend, however our bed-and-breakfast McCollum House offered free breakfast so we ate there. I wanted to grab a good coffee, I got an iced salted caramel latte. It was delicious. The pastries looked amazing, but we were too full from our breakfast. Staff was very nice.

I went here twice during a weekend stay, which says everything. It really was that good. Loved the chilaquiles. The huevos rancheros were also excellent, and their habanero sauce takes it to the next level. Spicy, flavorful, and memorable in the best way. The toddy was unexpectedly good, and the overall vibe made it an easy place to linger. One small heads up if you're eating outside: the birds are bold. They will absolutely harass you and try to steal your food. Still worth it, just be prepared.

Nice service, really good environment, I had a blast doing takeout and exploring the vicinity. The bathroom was clean and well maintained and it was overall a great time. Loved my breakfast sandwich which was on sourdough with bacon bits, cheddar and egg scrambled with a side of potatoes, definitely stealing that when I get home. Portion sizes were generous. Matcha latte was also great too.

Veggie scramble with side salad- very delicious

My food was delicious - veggie scramble with side salad (vinaigrette dressing). Partner has Ruben special and sadly it had more sauerkraut than pastrami on the sandwich... also had a side salad with ranch. The side salads were quite yummy unto themselves as they were fresh greens with radishes, cucumber, pickled cauliflower, carrots, beets and more! Meal - no drinks (with credit card service fee) $51.11 4 star due to service being mediocre...we were on the tail end of the lunch rush. We would definitely eat here again if we were back for a visit in Mendocino.

This place is popular. You'll likely have to wait for a seat. But it's worth it. The food is great. We had a great server too, Daniel. He was fun and right on top of it. We sat outside, but they have inside seating too. This is our favorite breakfast place in town. We will be back again and again.

    Pastries

We dropped by here for lunch after our walk. I ended up getting the ranch chicken sandwich (fried) and the carrot ginger coconut soup. The chicken looked burnt but was surprisingly moist. Maybe the coleslaw helped and made the sandwich super tasty. The carrot, ginger coconut soup was amazing! There was about a 15-20 minute wait but became increasingly busy by 1115am. The place feels small and a bit of a challenge to get out the door during busy times. We'll be back for the coffee and pastries another day!

Every small coastal town has to have its staple cafe and this one goes above and beyond. Over the course of the weekend we ate here for breakfast and lunch. As well as stopping by for Thai teas on our way out of town, which were surprisingly great. The staff here are so polite and make the place feel like home. This place was always packed but they're quick with service. Very cute inside with a nice gift shop. For breakfast I tried the biscuit and gravy, gravy was flavorful and loaded with protein, no soupy plain gravy here. I will say the biscuits were a little lacking, dry and dense. I also had a cup of hot apple cider with my breakfast, sooooo good. My husband had the huevos rancheros and was very pleased. For lunch I tried the ranch chicken sandwich. OH MY GOSH! Amazing! The chicken was fried to perfection and so flavorful/juicy. They're definitely making their ranch in house and it's divine, so creamy so dilly I loved it! The one thing I regret is not trying anything from their pastry case because it all looked amazing.

This is popular breakfast and bakery place in Mendocino. Place gets packed quickly during weekends. You can always sit on picking table at the back yard. They serve delicious breakfast and deserts. Service is good. Outdoor and indoor seating available.

Food & coffee: 5 out 5 Excellent products. Quality food & coffee that you can taste! We first came for the pastries then came back the following day for brunch. Everything we tried was seasoned & cooked well! The baked goods & breads are all made in house! Service: 5 out 5 Friendly folks, but there will be a line out the door on the weekend. Environment: 4.75 out of 5 Great location. A few tables inside with more seating on the patio area. Overall: 5 out 5 The line is worth the wait! Come early especially during the weekends.

Good amount of plant based options. Bakery even has a good amount too. The inside is packed with merch and take-home goods. Place is cozy. Wish I could have visited more than once, so I'm already building a stop at Goodlife into my next trip. Portions are good, and the food came out timely. Outstanding service by all, they really work as a team. The standout is their house made buckwheat (gf and vegan) bread... LIFE CHANGING! + the homemade preserves and !!! The goddess bowl had too many seeds for me, so I'd order light on that next time. The tofu was heavily marinated, a bit too much for my palate, but probably not the case for others. There will be a wait, but it's worth it

They had a tented patio in the sunny-but-stubbornly-windy Mendocino air, but we opted for the interior. Good choice. It has the ultimate "Authentic Irish Pub" starter pack: Cool and dark? Check.
