Watch out for charge card/debit card skimming! ! We fully believe my card was skimmed here: I put my card in, but the digital screen above it was just blank/frozen, no instructions or anything, unable to select how much gas I wanted etc. totally blank screen. So I sensed something awful, stopped trying the transaction but the pump would not release my card back to me ! It was not retrievable or cancellable! it was "Locked deep into the slot, not even enough edge to grab with fingers" . I went into the store to tell them that it was the third time in a month they had "held my card in the slot, regardless of which pump i went to each time" and that I was clearly afraid it was being skimmed while it was locked up. He went behind the counter Without answering my questions, then just said "try it again right now, it should release your card". Suddenly it did get released at the pump. I was so upset by it all, I just drove off to another station, possibly owned by the same family, 5 blocks away. Tonight, I've learned that at that same exact hour, my bank account started showing almost $900 fraudulent charges from ( names withheld) "xxxxxDoordash" !!! Online, there are so many other mentions of "Doordash scams", even though this was completely unrelated to Doordash. So disturbing. read more

This is the worst gas station I've ever dealt with. I pulled in recently to fill up my car. I inserted my credit card and realized that the amount of the previous was still showing. I pulled my card out and tried three other pumps with the same result. I went inside to complain to the clerk and she just shrugged her shoulders and asked me if I wanted to pay for gas at her credit card machine. When I got home I checked my credit card balance and there were over $560 charges on my card. I went back to the station and the employee told me that will be removed. What blows me away was her response to me was like no big deal. So 4 days later the charges are still there. I will be going through the fraud folks at my bank to rectify this. read more

I just got back from pumping gas at this place. I paid inside, made pleasant conversation with a very disengaged person behind the counter. I went to pump my gas and the pump said wait a minute as usual. So I waited and waited and waited. Nothing. I went back to the building and the door was locked, the closed sign up. No one came back for about about 10 minutes or so. When he came back there was no apology and he barely acknowledged my presence when I told him what happened. Eventually I got to pump my gas but as a business owner I find the behavior of this employee to be pretty bad. I understand someone needing to excuse them self from work to take care of themselves but the attitude was just really off putting. I hope this review helps improve customer service at this Shell location. read more

My husbands credit card was skimmed from the pay at pump machine at this Shell station at Redwood and DeLong in Novato on Sunday evening. The next night a test charge was run at the same Shell station to see if our account is active and has money in it before the thieves planned go back to try to wipe us out. Clean, well lighted gas station that's just on the main road right off the freeway. Prices aren't too bad here.

Negative Stars. There...I said it. I've been going to this gas station for twenty-plus years. It has been bought, it has been sold, it has been everything and it was always a constant. Roll with the punches and all.... Until a year or so back when it sold to a group who has screwed the pooch so bad that most of the employees quit. First, and still there, is Mary. Nice enough lady. I understand that she's a tough manager and can get crabby. Hell...comes with the turf. Her and her husband John have been running Shell stations in Novato since probably the George HW Bush administration. Again...nice enough people. Mary is still there. Esmeralda: GONE! POOF! Why? Because they chopped her pay...by like a third. She quit shortly after... Esteban: GONE! Was quite vocal about it. They cut his pay as well. This guy is, like, my age and was gutting it out while he was getting his hauling business off the ground. Him and Esmeralda were half the reason I went there in the first place. Coffee was the other half. What. The. F***? Gas stations are basically calling cards to get you in to the C-store to buy coffee, sodas, and cigarettes. So why did they suddenly cut the coffee choices in half and only start making a half-pot at a time? I put up with that for about two months and now I'm outta there. Most of the regulars are out of there. Hell...the day laborers who stand out on the corner are actually walking across the street to buy their coffee now. They have one guy working behind the counter who is...well...slow. I feel for the guy. He's making less than he'd make at Starbucks and probably more than he deserves. No stocking needed...just tell customers that you're out of java sleeves and go back to texting. Sorry dude, you're a nice enough guy, but get out before this resume stain follows you around for the next two years or start stocking frikkin' java sleeves, watch the coffee pot and refill it when it gets low, and (yeah, I'm getting snarky here) ditch that twenty dollar gold-painted Flavor Flav watch. Oh...and greedy-ass franchise owners: Start paying your damn employees a living wage and tell them to make some coffee. I was good to this station for about thirty bucks a week and I'm not the only one who has ditched you for the coffee across the street. read more

We went to this gas station to pump gas at 4:09 pm on 10/26/2020. I gave $32 in cash to my nephew to pay inside. However, we could pump only up to $22. I went inside to ask the cashier the reason why. The cashier, JUAN said my nephew only paid $22. My nephew didn't obtain a receipt. My nephew insisted he had paid $32 to this cashier. I requested this cashier to rewind the camera to see what had happened. He refused to do it. He said he could do nothing. I asked to see the manager or the shop owner, he said the owner wasn't here. I asked for the phone number of this business, he rudely declined to tell this business' phone contact. His gesture and answer was rude. I knew my nephew, a 19 year old kid is an honest person. His English is not very good, just arrived the US from another country. He didn't expect such a deceit happening in life. It was a big lesson for my nephew. On the other hand, I wrote it on YELP to warn people who ever shop at this gas station to be aware of this employee JUAN, his fraudulent behaviors. They gouged the person before me: showing her a dirty air filter and telling her she needed a new one; showing her another yucky component and telling her she needed a new one; telling her that since her car was a hybrid, they'd have to charge her more for an oil change; adding on service after service after service. When I asked them to hook up a computer to my car to see why my check engine light was on, they left my car engine running while they moved on to another car until I asked them why it was running. As a result, my automatic headlights remained on. They responded that I had left my headlights on, but when I went into the car, it was running and I turned it off. They couldn't pronounce the words throttle and solenoid, which came up on the computer and suggested that I'd need to pay for a lot of work. Instead, I took the car away and, in Santa Rosa, CA and Lincoln, Nebraska, other mechanics quickly diagnosed the problem, explained how things worked, and didn't charge me a thing.
