HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE SINCE DAY 1 of being in there. After taking the insurance money and saying the car was fixed here we are 3 years later and still having issues with the car. My car is 3 colors not even painted correctly.Called today to speak to them and the lady told me that this is not their problem and hung up on my. Reeds auto has terrible customer service at every turn, they towed our vehicle as they work hand in hand with Lemont police as they troll fourth street condo parking garage because village of Lemont owns it thus not considered private property. They forcibly removed the keys from my son, a minor, and charged me $150 towing, plus $30 storage fee for 6 hours and admin fee of $30. They do not how to speak to people because they think they do not have practice common courtesy. They were very fortunate I didn't press charges. read more

If I could give 0 stars...i would. We recently had work done on my mothers car and I have nothing nice to say about their business. Their policies are outrageous. Their customer service is horrendous. First of all, obviously they have your car. BEFORE any work is done they require payment, which is not unreasonable. But they will not take payments over the phone. They require a physical card and signature on all credit card slips. Now, if your car is your source of transportation how are you supposed to get there? Overall, they had the car for close to three weeks. They ended up ordering the wrong part for the car after already having it for a week. Work on the car was delayed because we couldn't get my mother there to sign a credit card slip. Did I mention their ridiculous hours. They are open from 8-4 Monday through Friday, closed Saturday and Sunday. Now, if you are working and relying on others for transportation and they are also working... how do you get to Reed's to sign a slip during their hours? After the correct part was received and the car was repaired, no one even called my mother to inform her. They have POOR communication, but we'll get more into this one later. We were on our way home from O'Hare airport at 3:00pm (where my mother works) when she called and asked if the car was done. She was informed that the car was done and was an additional $167. Which of course had to be paid in person. They close at 4. IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WE MADE A MAD DASH DOWN 294 FROM CHICAGO TO LEMONT TO PICK UP THE CAR. We got there pretty close to 4pm. Upon arriving my mother and husband were greeted by a receptionist. My husband disputed their policies and procedures. He expressed his frustrations over the wrong part being ordered. Now, let me say that I too am a receptionist and have been for 14 years. Over the years I have apologized for things that are not my fault and shown empathy for people when I have had nothing to do with the situation. It's called customer service. Never once did this snot apologize for our inconvenience, never did she offer to get her supervisor... the case was closed (as were they and she obviously wanted to go home). We would be hearing from no one as she never offered to take a message for "Ed" (the owner). We had a horrible experience and will NEVER be returning. I strongly encourage others to seek automotive care elsewhere. On a side note, their facility offers towing. DO NOT USE THEM FOR TOWING SERVICE. They require cash only unless it is towed to their garage, in which case it will be added to the bill. read more

I see these negative reviews, but I've have awesome service from Reed's. They seem to go above and beyond what they need to each time. I love their employees!! If I have a question or need to grab something from my car, they've met me hours before and after closing to do this and are never rude about it. I've also never had a problem with a car after getting it fixed at Reed's. I understand some people might take the lack of cleanliness or their laid back nature to come off as "disrespectful", but I don't think they are. They're down to earth but have NEVER been rude to me. If they were, I would not have stuck with them for several years. And I don't mind the mess - it's an auto shop! Reed's is reliable to me, so I'm going to continue going to them. read more

October 21st my beloved brother who's raising a young son unfortunately lost his life on the Lemont Road Bridge. His children wanted the motorcycle back but it was part of an investigation and there was a hold on the bike. My brother's daughter went there in hopes of speaking to the owner to ask him if he would charger for just the tow. She's only 21 years old and there's a younger sibling involved they had to open up a go fund me page just to pay for their fathers services. The owner of the company wouldn't come out to talk to us he stood on the left side of the office through a doorway. The only nice person is Kim at the desk. She finally said that he would go down to $800. It took her three weeks to try to raise the money she had $700 and asked me to please call let them know the situation and see if they would give us the bike for just that amount they said no. Couple days later go by she now has $750 my mother called to plead to give the bike back of her dead son to her grandchild. They said no. We're down to the final hour and all I could do was to ask somebody I've never met before who knew my brother if he would drive to the tow yard to loan me $50. He did his name is Todd thanks Todd. Anyway no matter what religion you are this man is absolutely horrible. So there I am in my pink hoodie crying over the loss of my big brother all I want to do is get his motorcycle back two guys that know my brother helping me and they're having trouble pushing the motorcycle up the ramp.I'm crying trying to help them they turned around and asked one of the young tow truck drivers for help and he said sorry I have a bad back. read more

Do not bring your car here unless you want it to be gone for 2 weeks with no communication what so ever. No body work done to the car and it was dirty when I picked it up. The hood was replaced and didn't even line up properly. Then the owner proceeded to tell us that the fender that was damaged from the tree falling on it was not their responsibility to fix. The owner acts like you are more of an inconvenience to him than a customer. I won't lie to you guys, my fiancé said have a good day old fuck because he lied through his teeth and acted like a child that just got caught in a lie and proceeded to talk down to us like we couldn't seen through the lies and bullshit. He then proceeded to ask my fiancé to get out of the car but really he should redirect that frustration on to his employees that did the shit work. We simply wanted to pick up our car that is it. Instead we were treated poorly and felt disrespected. We have been residents of lemont since the beginning and you typically want to help our your local town businesses but this man knew his business is going to shit and is just taking it out on the customers that are less than happy with their work. They are thieves who are supported by the Lemont Police Dept. Reed's has taken 3 vehicles from me, and nearly destroyed my motorcycle, which they improperly towed. BEWARE.. that if Reed's tows your vehicle, and you don't claim it w/in 7 days, they file for a salvage title, and sell your vehicle to an out of state vehicle salvage company (of used auto parts) to cover their exorbitant towing and storage charges, then the salvage company auctions off major parts of your vehicle. In addition, Reed's Towing has not held a current "ICC Safety Towing Relocator's License"-(required to tow disabled or illegal vehicles from public roadways, w/ or w/o Police authorization) for the past 3 or more years. Therefore, The village of Lemont, and the Lemont Police Dept. has been allowing Reed's Towing to unlawfully, and in violation of Lemont Village Ordinance, 1) to hold a monopoly of Police and Safety Relocation Towing services in the Village of Lemont, 2) and to do so, in violation of ICC laws and contrary to Village ordinance. SEE ICC POLICE complaint against Reed's Towing. Due to my complaint, Reed's was fined $750 + 2020-2021 ICC Police investigator John Giesbush. I broke down . The police called them to help. I was assured they would take credit cards. ( I had no access to cash) The driver came & hooked the car up without seeing me.(I was talking to the police. Then told me it was cash only. And since it was hooked up I must have $200. They took the car to the shop. Next day I asked them to look at it 4 hours later A very rude lady called & said that they don't know what's wrong yet & won't look at it until Monday. (Four days later.) In the meantime it is a $30 a day storage fee. I had to call another tow to get my car back. Even then they tried to make it very hard so my car would be locked up for the weekend (at $30 a day) I got my car back but I am out $355 and had to miss 2 hours of work to get it back & no repairs were done. read more

Was going through a divorce, went to the DMV to change my adress they change my id but not my license so notices went to my exes house. My licence was suspended for a year and a half unknown to me. Lemont police ran my plate and arrested me and called them to tow car. They illegally charged me a storage fee for the first 24 hrs. They were then closed for the next 2 days and illegally charged a storage fee for those 2 days. They would not release any information about charges till I showed up. Had to get more CASH, they were only open a half hour next not telling me charging ME another day storage. Answering service said they would be there only a half HR next day. Finally got my car charged me an unexplained $30.00 dollar charge and over charged me $100.00 dollars from their posted charges just cause they can. Went back to retrieve the overcharge the owner snapped was swearing and threw me out. I've filed a lawsuit that will cost him 3 times the amount of I win. Will keep you posted. read more

The WORST customer service experience I have ever had! Bar none! December 4th. I get a quote $975. I call around and get quotes for $1200 & $1300. They tell me "We don't have storage room. Come pick it up until you can pay." They tow it back on December 21st because it won't start. I'm 1.5 blocks away. No word from them. I figure, the holidays & the bitter cold has made it difficult. I call December 26th. "I'll call you back with an answer" I get nothing. I call them "We're very busy. Not sure when we can get to it." I give them another week and hear nothing. I call January 4th. "Mechanic's at lunch. I'll ask & call you back." I get no call back, again. I call & get "Sorry, we're just very busy. I'm sure we'll get to it soon." "When?" "I'm not sure." I get nothing for a week. I call "Sorry. We're very busy" So, what you're telling me is "You are last on the list?" "No. That's not what I'm saying." OK I'm thinking "I can't afford to take it somewhere else & don't want to pay for another tow. And even tho I was warned that they SUCK, I never had a problem with them before so I think "They must give me a "We appreciate your patience valued customer discount" RIGHT? So I leave it and say "PLEASE! Put me on the list!" I hear nothing for ANOTHER week! I call & I'm told "The end of next week for sure!" I say "Then you're saying you were 20 days behind?" "No. That's not what I'm saying" So I wait. Now it's January 24th. They've had my vehicle since December 21st. I call. I'm told "The mechanic is out to lunch I'll call you back." No call. I call that afternoon. "He's waiting on parts" I say "ALL THIS TIME AND YOU HAVEN"T EVEN ORDERED THE PARTS!!??" "I'm sorry. That's what the mechanic said." I get no call. I call them Friday January 26th "Mechanic is out to lunch. I'll call you back." No call. I call them at 3:30 "WELL??" "You can pick it up at 4" WOO HOO right? WRONG!! I go there & they tell me I owe $1,353.20.!! They put a new starter in without telling me, asking me, calling me or anything else. I tell them "HELL NO I'm not paying that!" They had my vehicle for a month and did work I knew NOTHING about. I ask them "What is my warranty on parts and labor?" She goes in to talk to the old man hiding in his office and says "Whatever NAPA covers on the parts" I said "OK. What about the labor?" She says "I don't know. No one has EVER ASKED that question!" (I swear to god this is what they said. verbatim) She says "Whatever NAPA's warranty is" They tell me they worked when it first came in then changed it to January15th then said they had to put the starter in it to get it inside. (Did they work on it outside you ask? no clue when, where or how they did ANY of the work at this point they've changed the story so many times) I ask "SO WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL ME THEN??" Crickets. They say "Just pay us the $975. I forgot my checkbook in my rush to pick it up on short notice. (true story) They say "Bring the $975 on Monday" I was so angry and upset I was shaking. NAPA Lockport says "Yes we sold them parts" (wouldn't give me the date) I tell them "Reeds claims THEIR warranty is piggybacked on YOUR warranty. Is that true?" They say "You can look up our warranty online" (As IF!!) I ask how long of a wait for those parts? "Next day" I say "Reeds claims they had to wait for parts since January 15th" NAPA says "They DID have to wait on parts because of the I-80 shut down." REALLY?? "How long?" 3 DAYS"!! WHAT?? NOT 30?? I go in on Monday with a credit card. So much time had gone by I need my cash for rent. They say "It comes to $1,353.20" I'm like "WHAT??" "What happened to just paying the $975". She says "I didn't say that" ??!! I said "You told me to come in on Monday with the $975. Did you mean I would OWE you the rest?" She says "No." I said "Then what the hell DID you mean??" The old man (owner) FINALLY comes out of his hiding spot to yell at me that I WILL pay or I'm not getting my vehicle back. I said "I didn't authorize or OK the starter" He says "HOW ABOUT I PUT THE OLD ONE BACK IN IT AND TOW IT HOME!" I said "FINE! DO IT!" I give them the credit card and he says "I won't take cards" I point the the sign that says there's a 3% extra charge and say "Yes you do!" He says "Not YOURS! And not a check either! I want cash or a bank check" I just want to be done so I go get a cashier's check ($8 from Chase where I'm a customer. Fuck you too Chase. I'm sure you need that $8) I go back and ask "When will it be ready?" "They say "It's ready now" REALLY!!?? I was gone 10 minutes. They pull it out of the garage, running. I take it to Firestone also in Lemont. They call me in an hour "The starter is fine. It's the new one." I have them check out other problems that they fixed in less than 24 hours, with a LIFETIME NATIONWIDE warranty on parts AND labor AND gave me credit with free financing. My suggestion? Take your vehicle to Firestone. They may cost a bit more but, it's WORTH IT!!!!! read more

The first one was leased and shortly after returning the car in, I received a letter from GM stating I would be charged so they could redo "sub-par bodywork". If I would have realized that I would have not taken the second car there. Second car was painted and began chipping. I took it back and they repainted it. Now it's all chipped again. I sent all this info to Reeds via a certified letter with pictures. Crickets. Plus the owner can be rude. Definetly not warm and fuzzy. read more

Reeds Automotive Enterprises is not a reputable towing service. The driver, Lloyd, who towed my daughter's vehicle caused further damage to her car by not using the correct towing method necessary for the original disablement. We were advised by the second towing company that Lloyd should have used a wheel lift but instead he choose to strap tow chains to the undercarriage as well as the disabled tire, and drag the car up onto a flat bed which resulted in additional damage to surrounding equipment that was otherwise fine before the tow. When I asked him directly who secured the vehicle for transport, he choose to lie and place blame on someone who wasn't even there rather than own up to his actions. Additionally, when I asked other workers and the business staff about it no one seemed to know anything about it or even which tow truck he used. As an unfortunate result to Reeds Automotive Enterprise's overall negligence, I've had to pay an additional sum to have a second tow company retrieve my car from their yard, and the added costs to repair the damage caused by one of their employees. I would strongly advise anyone considering the use of Reeds Automotive Enterprise in Lemont, IL to look elsewhere for a company who actually has integrity and good moral standards. read more

Never take your business here. Dishonest owner and terrible customer service. Left my car unlocked outside so literally anyone could've gone into my vehicle and taken my belongings. The paint on my bumper was rough and almost looked like it was two different colors. There was overspray and scratches, the bumper was not aligned correctly and the paint is still rough on the bottom of the bumper. The first time I picked my car up and drove home the bumper popped out of place and was sticking out of the side of my car. Then when I took it back in they decided WITHOUT me asking to remove some tar on the trunk lid that wouldn't come of by scraping it off and now there are scratches all over it. I have tried to buff them out myself but no matter what I do they're still there. I had them redo the paint on the bumper and it still looks like garbage and the bumper is still not properly aligned. Would give them a zero if I could. Gina H. is correct customer service is horrible. My childs car was towed there after an accident because the car was not driveable. It was towed there because and only because the police would not let me call my own tow truck they said they called their own and it would have to be towed to Reed's. Now this is after 5 PM so they are already closed and don't open until 8:30 the next morning. I called at 8:45 the woman who answered the phone knew nothing of the car and said there were a lot of tows the previous night due to the weather. Since it was an older car I asked if they could look at it and see if it was worth fixing. No body damage just front wheel damage due to sliding and hitting a curb. She said sure. Now they are only open 8:30 -4:00 not very convenient hours. So 1:30 comes around and I have yet to hear from them. So I call them back and they have no idea if anyone was going to look at it or when. I then ask how much was the tow. The total was $270- the actual tow was $150 but they charged me some bullshit administration fee ($30) and another bogus fuel fee($30)-the car was litrally picked up from around the corner to the place. Then I was charged $30/day storage fee starting with when it got there even though they were closed and I couldn't pick it up the daybefore so another $60. So I arrange for the car to be towed somewhere else and told them I would be there at 3 with the tow truck for the car. Was told to bring my ID,insurance card and tow report. I get there the other tow truck is there the woman at the desk does the paperwork and tells me it will be $270. I go to hand her my credit card and am told it has to be cash or bank check only. I swear I almost had a stroke!!! I am getting a little irate at this point because they are only open until 4 and if I don't get it out it will be another $30. I ask her where does it say cash only on the tow report-it doesn't. There are signs all over saying they take credit cards (with a 3% fee of course) but won't take mine. The woman behind the desk very nasitly tells me there is a bank down the block...but not my bank and with as many fee's I had to pay today I wasn't going to pay any more. My tow truck driver was very nice and said she would wait for me to go to the bank to get the cash. Got the cash and came back paid those criminals the money and got my paperwork back. I walked out to the yard with the tow truck driver and the car was all the way in the back covered in snow. So there was absolutly no way that they had even attempted to look at the car. It is my guess that they would have left it there for days charging me $30/day storage with out ever looking at it. I WILL NEVER USE THIS BUSINESS!!! Didn't even offer up a little discount due to them being closed for a holiday. Wasn't going to release my plates to me. Even after full payment he was giving me a hard time. Then was told I only had 5 mins to clear my car out. I have ever right to my personal belongings but that didn't stop him from treating me and my son horriable. Place should be investiagted. Lisa B. In my opinion, Reed's Automotive Enterprises is a completely unethical business. I will never allow one of my vehicles to be towed to or serviced by Reed's in the future. In my opinion, it appears that their approach is to use their referral from local police to receive towing customers. Once our vehicle was towed to their shop, they were non responsive to a request for information and a promised return phone call. All the while, they continued to run the meter on storage fees. If you pass five days, they up the daily storage charge by 30% per day from day one. On top of this, they charged a $275 towing fee to move a Honda civic less then 4 miles. In seeking to work through this issue, both the receptionist and owner were belligerent. Another tactic that was utilized was to say that they were still working on the estimate for repair, all the while, running up the storage charges. Unless you enjoy being extorted, my opinion and advice would be to avoid this business at any cost, as our experience was that once our car was behind their locked gate, we were a victim! read more
