I was first here in 2008 and just visited last week. The staff is friendly and efficient especially the guy who helped fit guns with my cousin and I. She ended up liking the feel of a gun I already had but he did not rush us and answered the questions correctly and efficiently. He knew his stuff for sure. Their selection is vast for California and their prices fair. I have bought several guns from them. So I recommend them for gun purchases. The range is nice and the process efficient. My cousin liked it and she thinks she was there before. I have brought friends there and the consensus is it is always fun. Range guns were solid as I rented a Walther to go along with my Sig M18 and CZ SP-01. The price is awesome as we were there for a bit and did not think much of what I paid as that is normal entry fee if you shoot. When I go to my property it is free and you can shoot what you want and how you want but this is a public range and not my land. So it is good. Overall I like Reed's a lot and would recommend the range and shop to anyone who loves shooting and wants to buy a rifle or handgun. This is a quality place for sure and you pay for what you get. Been going to Reed's since the early 2000s. Back then there were more gun ranges than there are now. Even then, Reed's was my favorite range. It's big with plenty of lanes, well-lit, and well-stocked. The staff were knowledgeable, helpful and most of all focused on keeping everyone safe. This is important because the customers span the range of no experience to extremely experienced. They are all treated the same. I had gone several years of not going to Reed's due to not making enough time to shoot. But, now I realized how much I actually enjoy it. Thank goodness they are still in business. My son and I drove to Santa Clara from the peninsula to enjoy some range time on his 24th birthday. In the past, I purposely avoided Reed's due to the bad reviews regarding staff. I strongly recommend avoiding this range. The customer service is the biggest problem. We came in as a group of five, and the staff assigned us one lane. At first, we assumed the range must be crowded, but when we walked in, the entire room was empty, and every other lane was available. Assigning one lane to five shooters in an empty range is unbelievable and makes absolutely no sense. When we asked to open another lane, the staff gave us attitude and kept questioning why we "needed" more lanes. Honestly, we were the ones who should've been asking why they thought one lane for five people was acceptable in the first place. The way they handled the situation was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. The facility itself is also in rough shape. The lanes show noticeable wear, some equipment doesn't function smoothly, and the setup isn't as well maintained as it could be. Between the poor attitude, the lack of basic customer service, and the rundown facility, this range is not worth the time or money. You're far better off choosing another range. read more

I'm taking another star away for PPT but I'm torn because I understood their logic but not the execution. The good thing is I really like the staff (I believe I said that before) as they are courteous and knowledgeable and most of the policy is not set by them. I understand that they don't make money on PPT and they want to discourage people doing PPT. However in my particular case it's Thanksgiving weekend so I have family trip planned ahead that I just can't change. I'm also a repeated customer for both the gun store and the range (I used to go 3 times a week). My beef is with the $100/week storage fee. I understand they want people to pick up asap but I believe they should ease the first week because no one wants to leave a gun they paid intentionally and giving say a week grace period or even a reduced first week storage fee would be more appropriate or a good gesture for customers. They would have gotten so much more business from me (not PPT) but due to this kind of practice I'm reluctant. The following is my previous review: I'm taking one star away because of pricing not necessarily of the range per se but of the store in the same facility. I've noted that pretty much all new guns are about $50 more than MSRP and that the used guns are even more expensive than new. Please note that once you start the gun buying process you will have a hard time to get out of the purchase after the 10 day wait period. This is understandable but still regrettable so please make sure you are certain of the gun you want to buy. There are other larger chains that would be easier for you if you change your mind if you don't mind driving a bit. I think that would be a better for a new gun owner. Also note that you must buy at least one box of ammo from the range if you rent the gun there. You can read my original review below. My go to range in the Bay Area and probably the only indoor range still available in the Bay Area. I like Reed's because it's friendly towards beginners and it's actually located within the Bay Area and even though it's indoors it allows you to shoot buckshots which is extremely rare among all shooting ranges. The price is fair at $20 per hour per person per lane and can be extremely crowded in the weekend. It's a good price if you are shooting alone but when you have 2 or more per lane it adds up. The ammo pricing for the range is also fair and when they run sales on ammo it's actually not a bad deal. There is also a gun store attached to the shooting range and it's not bad either. It's not the cheapest but they are knowledgeable and helpful. Parking can be tricky but you can always find in the back around the corner except you'll have to walk with your gear. read more

Their staff members are very knowledgeable and patient with me, as this was my first time at a range ever. They gave clear instructions and advice. We reserved a lane for an hour; $20 per person. They had a good flow of people coming in and out. After shooting, we browsed their wide selection of firearms and accessories. What a fun experience! Been wanting to take my growing teenager here for awhile now and he's shown that he's a responsible kid so we took him to Reeds for his birthday and he had the best first time experience at the range! I've never seen him smile so much in his entire life and it made me very happy to see him enjoying his time here with his Uncle Erik. He did so well his first time and got a few bullseye, which I'm not surprised because he's been playing shooting games since he was 6 (I know I know, what kind of mother lets her son play zombie games at that age.. ME!) and plays better than most game streamers I know! At one point, his target was the further away from everyone and he still got bullseye; made him very happy. We were hoping to get hands-on experience before making a purchase. One employee (white male) was rude, dismissive, and offered no real information or guidance. This stood in stark contrast to another employee (a brown male) who was already assisting customers and was genuinely helpful and welcoming. I mention this because, based on our experience and the pattern reflected in other reviews, it felt like we were treated differently. The employee seemed annoyed that we were new to the range and firearms world, which is confusing, considering everyone starts somewhere. Ultimately, we were told we couldn't rent, couldn't buy, and couldn't shoot. So we left. We went to a nearby gun store with excellent reviews and spent over $2,000 on firearms, ammo, safety gear, training courses, and secure storage, everything we originally intended to purchase here. If I were the owner or manager, I'd be very concerned. This employee is costing you money and damaging your reputation. Judging by the consistency of similar reviews, management is either aware of the issue or unwilling to address it. I had a very bad experience with an a-hole salesman who was rude and disrespectful. When inquiring a handgun I liked, the dude was condescending, critical and nasty. As a salesman, your job is to sell the frigging gun, not to poke your nose into my business about training which you tried so hard to humiliate me in order to sell, to a point you continued to discredit me with nonsense of "improper gripping and unsafe handling". If there's problem with my grip, it means your in-house training didn't train right. Buying a gun doesn't require you to go through their training. I actually went through training at Reed's in the past and my range experience has been good. Until now. The dude is the worst employee I've dealt with there. Reasons are as below: 1. He insulted, criticized and belittled his customer. The way he talked was nasty and rude. 2. He might have superiority and/or inferiority syndrome that deem bad fit in dealing with people. 3. He might be racist and/or sexist against non white female shooters. 4. He is unkind, discouraging and passive aggressive. 5. He is a poor communicator. As soon as he started critizing and accusing me, my brain shut off. Besides, the show-off with jargons and babbling didn't help either. While I don't speak for every employee, most of the sales staff I've interacted with have consistently come across as condescending. Here is my experience from today: My friends and I came into the store to look at firearms, and I personally intended to make a purchase. That changed after listening to how staff handled a question from my friend, who was interested in purchasing a California-compliant AR-15. He had seen a complete JTE AR-15 online and wanted to see one in person. He asked whether the store had that model or something comparable. The first salesperson wasn't familiar with the JTE brand, which is understandable. However, a second employee stepped in and abruptly ended the conversation by stating, "We only carry military-grade AR-15s," and moved on without offering any clarification or alternatives. As someone familiar with the AR-15 platform and California compliance laws, this response was disappointing and misleading. "Military-grade" is a vague marketing term and doesn't address whether a rifle is fixed-mag or featureless, which are the two routes you have to go for CA compliance. The store clearly sells AR-15s, yet no effort was made to guide my friend toward compliant options they already carry or explain what was available. The entire staff acts like you're forcing them to do something that's not their job.... When it's their entire job. Asking to look at a weapon and they try and just tell you rather than let you actually look at the weapon. I Only frequent the range side to practice my aiming. Can't remember the gentleman's name in the back but he is the OG of the range part of store. Very cool dude. Always wants to help wether your a newbie or seasoned shooter. You ask him any thing about shooting for example like why is my shot always low and to the left he explains it. You ask him about any of the gun rentals they have he breaks down each one's pro and cons. Even when his area is busy he is always looking at the range to make sure everyone inside is playing by the rules. Overall great place great people and a lovely environment to practice your aiming skills. Awful experience! Came in to rent and try out a few guns before buying my first ever, per a recommendation. However when I got there i was turned down due to an understandable policy however one of the employees kept saying bring a friend in babying voice. I'm personally quite offended by the amount of times he said it and his other comments as I explained I lost my vehicle registration I had a question but he kept interrupting and I got sidetracked by his interruptions and never got my question out. Embarrassing asf to have someone treating you like your gonna blow your brains out despite coming in with a big smile, albeit a bit nervous being my first time. Young Asian employee was nice and helpful but the big, old, bald, white guy really got under my skin, so unbelievably condescending!!! I will update if I return read more
