Walked in the store looking to buy my son and I some cleats for the new soccer season. Apparently the store is self service since no one was there to help out. This place is mainly known for soccer supplies, but I have been coming to this store since I was 14 years old. The owner Andy has always been very nice to me, and now that I am a coach at a high school, Andy also help organize a badminton all star for high school students. The do a great job in terms of having your racket on time and being knowledgable about the rackets they do carry. They always have all the new stuff. So if you need badminton supplies or soccer stuff this is the place to go, the also do printing on shirts etc. I like coming to this store, the staff has always been very nice to me. read more

I'm a badminton player and I always come to Asby to get my rackets strung and for supplies. While their prices for clothing may not be so pleasing, their stringing rates and badminton supply prices are very satisfactory. Most of my friends drive all the way to Milpitas just to get their rackets strung, but why waste the gas money? Asby sports has a professional world-class racket stringer that I can rely on to string my rackets at any tension I like. I wouldn't know about the soccer department of this store, but the badminton experts there definitely know their stuff. I'm glad to have a great local badminton supplier! Ok, so I had to go get a Badminton Racket for school so I can play in the team. Needless to say that it was fairly expensive and I got a lower-mid end racket. That and the high end ones just feels way too wimpy for my hands to the point where I feel that I'm about to throw it to someone by accident (Yes, I'm a beginner but I'll save that for another day.) When I walked right in the store, I was with my mom with our own shopping cart. Mom parked the cart near the door while I was looking for badminton rackets. After some looking, there was actually a desk dedicated to Badminton stuff. So I asked around for help and apparently we were helped by a guy. I'm not too sure who he is but I was there at around 12:15-ish. The guy sounded knowledgeable (Going to have to test that out during my games) So after trying out a few rackets, I went with a Yonex Musclepower 7. Got myself a few accessories (Yellow grip and some birdies). This guy actually put on the grip tape for me on my racket, though I could have done it myself. How nice. At the end of the experience, I was ringed up and I got my gear for about $50. But you know what's cool though? I actually got a bag to hold things for my Badminton games for me! Yes, I was aware of the $50 thing, but the bag was better than I expected. Now why I don't give this a 5 star? Well, I'd give it a 4.5 for first experience but I will give no dice because it is my first experience. If something is borderline and it's my first experience, I do round down because I want the store to be consistent the next time I come around. In other words, I'm making them work for the fifth star. ;) However, as for the guy that helped me out today at around 12:30-ish, he was pretty helpful and he is very good at customer service. I think that guy deserves a raise. I have no problem supporting this humble sports shop the next time I need sporting stuff. But until then, I have practicing to do and teams to beat. read more

A long time sports store that has been here for years and continue to grow through the years, absy has been the most reliable badminton supplier to the southbay for years and continue to do so. The stringing service is top notch in the bay area. Even though you don't get the expert advice and quality of pro stringer alan kakinami since he's left the company, but the staff still delivers better quality then the other competitors. There is a huge supply of soccer equipment also and great for team orders. The staff are mostly athletes who themselves do play the sport and would offer valuable insight to equipment. Definately one of my first places to visit when i need soccer or badminton supplies. read more

This store clearly has a close connection to to the community, supplying uniforms and screening at a low price. Their shoe prices are comparable to any major sporting goods store and I appreciate how they carry a good selection of children's sizes. This place has it all. Anything you need to get your badminton game on. Rackets or Racquets, grips or bags, if you want it, they've got it. if not they can usually tell you where to get it. I like their restringing prices, they do a pretty good job with reasonable prices. The best thing about this place is how the staff treat you. They never seem to look at you like the new kid on the block who they can take advantage of. The advice i got from the guy working there was pretty useful. I'm not sure if its always busy, but I went on a rainy Saturday and they had a big group of middle aged men getting their rackets restrung. The best soccer store in the area and I've been to them all! Ricardo and the team at Asby's knows their badminton and soccer gear like no one else. They always get the latest items and can recommend things to you. They are a one-stop shop and great for teams and leagues in that they can do logos and embroidery on-site to customize items. Asby's supports local soccer youth leagues and I would venture to say the best pricing and customer service in the area. When we priced among the the local stores and major .com sites, Asby's beats them every single time. I love when I find a great local store as I would rather support local small businesses. The fact that they have lower pricing than the big stores or online retailers is even the more reason that I don't go anywhere else for my soccer gear. First time getting my racket strung here and had my racket strung by Mr. K and my god was his stringing service quick. He was very nice to me also I ended up buying some items while I was there for my racket :) definitely will go back to get my rackets strung here again when needed. This place is disorganized. For one thing, as of August 2015, they still have a message on their phone/answering machine that says they are closing early for the evening of 4th of July (which was over a month ago). Also, even though they say they open at 10am, that is not always the case. So you may have to wait until 11 or after. I tried ordering materials and it was very difficult to do. They didn't know the answers to simple questions and gave me the wrong info on top of it. I felt like I was the one orchestrating the transaction rather than being lead by a professional. I started playing badminton a few years ago and really didn't know where to get badminton supplies. I was shopping for some badminton equipments online and found this store in my neighborhood. I didn't know some of these top of the line rackets cost so much! It seemed their pricing was better than other competitor's price but still, $220 for a racket was steep. I started to ask one of the workers, who also plays badminton, and was very impressed about how honest and informative he was. He didn't try to sell me something I didn't need or something that wasn't going to help me. Then he started asking me questions to help me narrow down my options. I really liked a new Armortec 700 Limited Edition that was made to celebrate the coming Olympics. So I ended up getting one but I still couldn't help but to complain how expensive these rackets are.
