I had to update my review now that some time has passed by. Basically, I would recommend anyone tuning a car to go to their local reputable tuner or even find a shop that is within reasonable driving distance, even if it might be a few hours away. I would only advise on e-tuning if you truly do not have any shops anywhere within 500 miles or so. The reason I say this is because you will get a more personalized experience when you can speak to the tuner in person and they can show you everything as the process is being done. All my communication was done via email to where I had follow up questions, after Reese said the final tune was sent, and got no reply. The aim was for the car to make between 16 to 17 PSI but on average it is only making between 9 and 11. So when I emailed Reese to ask him if he could follow up on why this is happening, he asks for my location and temps. I replied with the information he requested and never got back to me. So, this is why I recommend doing it in person now, there is more accountability when someone must help you in person and not just via email where there is less pressure to get you and the issue sorted out. read more

I contacted Reese Tuning for a full build for my Evo9. I told James the list of items I was wanting use and he guided me to another direction. To prevent problems down the road. Best advice he told me in the car scene. "was buy once cry once" so after doing my research and the list of parts he recommended I decided to go ahead with the project. Reese completed my build. Tuned it. My rig pulls as hard and smooth. Like it should. Reese knows his stuff. He's definitely going to be the person working on my GTR build next. read more

Reese Tuning is a joke! Do not trust this man with your car, he lacks communication with his customers and then puts the blame on you for why he can't commit to a timeline. Or even give confirmed date on when your car will be done. It's been 18 months of pure hell with this guy only to find out he's robbed us the money he "needed" to finish the car because he's a poor business man. Sit down and make some tea because I'm going to spill it all on how this POS will steal your money. We gave Reese our Evo X 02/2017 after he did a great tune on the EVO 9 but let me tell you, I should've done my research on this guy. Don't let his "nice shop" fool you, he's a crooked business owner that's why he doesn't have his own shop anymore. Anyways back to my story, we knew it was a big job and a lot of things needed to be done so we didn't make contact for awhile. We trusted Reese and THAT will forever weigh heavily on our shoulder because he essentially used my car as the parts car. 11/17 we made contact with Reese to see where the status of our car was. He replied that since we hadn't paid in full, he hasn't made it a priority mind you we put a hefty and I mean HEFTY deposit down. Money was never the issue and that should've been my first clue. Again trust and benefit of the doubt played us. He finally said ok 2/2018 is the date for the pick up. February/2018 rolls around and still no Reese saying the car is ready. In March my husband makes it out to see Reese and our car, he give my husband some sob story about how he ran out of money to finish the project blah blah blah never his fault. The new date is May/2018 because he got a divorce and according to text on the dyno getting ready for us to pick up Reese says he will send pics! Guess what? No pics, no text, automatic replies, straight to voicemail for the next couple months because more excuses he got surgery and really sick. Finally in July get a lawyer to call James and guess what! He finally made contact first! I told him I want my car by the end of the week to which he replies "If you want to come get your car incomplete, feel free" remember in May he said it was on the dyno? So wait why is it now incomplete? I ask for a confirmed date & the same thing just dodging questions. It's been 18 months why don't I have a confirmed date? The excuses continue gentlemen, he's moved shops! Doesn't tell us where i have to go find out online and happen to find a number to this Shop (Metro Performance of So Cal) long story short on this part, we are so fed up with James f***ing Reese we don't want him touching our car after he's left the car out in the sun (pictures of sun damage) scratched our rims all over the curb (pics of that too) and so we hand it over to MP. MP goes to ask James where the remaining car parts are, guess what! He doesn't f***ing know but remember nothing is his fault! The Turbo kit, injectors, fuel pump and just everything else down to the screws all missing. Our AMS short block engine had been sitting in their care because Reese didn't pay the remaining balance even though we've paid in full to have our engine rebuilt. He Just essentially the car had been stripped while in Reese care. DON'T TRUST THIS BOY! Or his business, yes talented as far as tuning but we have heard that people paid for tunes and still haven't received their tune or better yet a refund! Don't be fooled by his excuses or anything if it involves money stay away from him, he will rob you. HE'S A LIAR AND A THIEF. read more

I wanted to like this place since I read good things but unfortunately had a negative experience, or should I say no experience at all. Requested (emailed) a quote to tune my Focus ST and install a blow off valve. 1 week later I get a response from James (the General Manager), asking if I'd been helped. I told I had yet to hear back in which he responded he would get me a quote within an hour. It has now been 14 days and I still haven't heard anything. I've sent 2 follow up emails and have yet to hear back. I wouldn't mind if it's something they can't do, as I see they work mainly on Subarus. Yet the lack of any kind of response is unacceptable, and really disappointing. read more

I recently purchased a 2018 WRX and wasn't sure if the previous owner had dialed in the ECU for the mods he installed on the car. After doing some research I found Reese Tuning and am very happy I did! James was extremely helpful in answering my questions and explaining the pros of a professional tune from a performance as well as engine safety standpoint. I ended up going with a 91 and E30 tune with James and am VERY satisfied with the results! I took my EVO to get it tuned, Reese suggested an aftermarket clutch, injectors, and head studs. I agreed without arguing and was ready to spend $2400. I dropped off my car Saturday before they closed and he told me that they'd start working on it on Tuesday (they're closed Sun & Mon) and should be done and ready to be tuned on that Friday or Saturday. I had my own head studs and dropped them off Tuesday. I have a tracking device in my car and it'll notify me via text & email if alarm goes off, battery dies..pretty much anything that's not supposed to happen. About 2 wks go by and no update...but within that 2 weeks, I was notified 3-4 times. I can check online for the exact location of my car, it's speed, etc. I was very skeptical with my last notification, so I decided to track it online. Come to find out, my car was 7 miles away, stationary, parked at a mall. My fiance called the shop, asked the worker and he said he didn't know cuz the boss, Reese, was out to lunch. Then my fiance says, "Well, we're kind of worried b/c my fiance is wondering why her car is not at the shop and is parked at the mall." Worker hangs up and Reese calls back and says, "I took your car on a test drive and stopped to have lunch with my dad. Your car doesn't need a clutch." Now, the worker probably told his boss he was caught slipping so he pulled a story out of his ass. So, 2 wks later...I had to call for them to tell me I didn't need a clutch, boss took his 1st time customer's car for his own personal use, they didn't even do anything to it yet (if you know about cars, you wouldn't drive it untuned with injectors just installed), 1-2 workers spoke to me as though I was stupid. They are also too laid back and take in more work than they can handle. Never will I trust anyone working on my car again...James Reese, the owner and boss of this place, is shady. Got this awesome e-tune from Reese. My 2012 wrx hatchback runs better then ever. It really woke my car up. But at the same time it runs normally when not pushing it. i would highly recommend you to get an E-Tune from Reese. it took about a week for him to dial it perfectly. Took my 2019 STI to James and Reese Tuning today to install my COBB cat-back exhaust and some Rally Armour mud flaps. James was very attentive and easy to communicate with prior to arriving for the installation. The shop was nice and everyone was friendly. They installed my exhaust very quickly and did an exceptional job. They paid extra attention to detail, which I like and kept everything clean. I will definitely be going back. Just being honest. Took my car to get a clutch, motor and transmission mounts installed. Car was hastly put back together and only about 3/4 done. Its missing bolts. Water return line was left off, top starter bolt was left off. Called about it and Mr. Reese stated he didnt even do the work and said the car was a rusty piece of shit. Will never use again and I will tell anyone not to use them. Oh and tacked on extra money after the original 1200.00 was already paid. read more

James and Patrick have been great both times I've taken my WRX in for work. I live a couple hours away and instead of needing to drop it off and come back another day, they've been able to install multiple aftermarket parts and dyno tune in a single day to save me 4 hours worth of driving back and forth. This is the second time I have had Mr. Reese tune my vehicle. Extremely knowledgeable and is a master of his craft. His assistant Patrick is also highly knowledgeable and a master technician . Tim on the Speed Force side did some custom piping for my vehicle and the work was phenomenal!!! Everyone here compliments each other with their skill set and are a fine team! For first time customers, my advice is to be patient. Because of the issues( I had my car at another shop and something occurred where they could not get it started) my vehicle was having prior to taking it to Mr. Reese, It took a little time for Mr Reese to troubleshoot and correct the problem and complete my vehicle, however it is ALWAYS worth the wait!!! Mr. Reese and team all take their time with whatever work is performed and they give it their 100%. If you're looking for quality work that you don't have to worry about, this is the place to go!!! When I decided to have my MHi turbo install on my Evo 10 I couldn't be happier then turning to Reese tuning. Not only was their customer service top notch they had my Evo going in no time. I wanna start by saying this shop sucks ..worse service ever..no communication ..and got ripped..long story short he rebuilt my transfer case of my evo 8 and failed at 800 miles ..he agreed to fix it which I was ok for me ..but after waiting two weeks plus I decided to pick my car from his shop cuz it seems to me that he didn't care bout my car..he admitted that it was their fault ..also good thing to know and to all of you that go there James can't fix no transfer case so don't let him touched. .he micky mouse that tranfer case hoping it will last .claiming he put a oem new one..just be careful ..I hate people that lie to you and try to burn you. .now I have to pay again to get my car fixed since the refund he gave me was not enough. .worse shop ever .. read more
