I called and Alfonzo immediately answered, His courtesy and (seemingly) genuine concern was comforting.

I cannot thank the team at Melrose Abbey enough. My family had my great-grandmother's service here…read morea decade ago and my grandfather's service a few months ago. The team was very kind and helpful towards us through our grief and mourning and made everything seamless for us to navigate. Lupe was especially very helpful and accommodating even when my brother and aunt were asking for a lot and had very particular requests. Everyone was very patient with us. The chapel punches above its weight; it's very clean, large, comfortable, and beautiful, especially for the value/cost. I consider myself pretty claustrophobic and uncomfortable with funerals but the large venue allowed me to have my own space at times. There are multiple packages available to accommodate to different religious faiths. Our Buddhist funerals are very extensive and involve a lot of decor, setting up, altars, but we did not have to worry about providing or doing any of that ourselves. Here in Orange County/Little Saigon, the other most popular funeral home is Peek which I find to be so crowded, commercialized, less warm and comforting, and the service is less thorough or comprehensive. Melrose Abbey, I believe, has been family-owned for a few generations hence why working with the team feels more cordial and personal. I recommend all Vietnamese families in the area to come here instead; far better value, better venue, while still accommodating to our traditions. My only complaint is that for some reason the staff wheeled my grandfather to the crematorium rather than having us pallbearers escort him; I was hoping it'd be my last moment with him. We were told to clutch onto the casket which did feel a bit misleading or confusing; I'd rather we just be told that we weren't going to do anything. Once again, I'd like to thank the team especially Lupe.

With great sadness as I write this...My father recently passed away and we came across Melrose…read moreAbbey. Abigail herself was a blessing and the biggest help to my family and I. She explained the process thoroughly, she was so responsive to all of our calls and emails. She was able to get all the necessary paperwork and she happily obliged with all of our requests. The place itself was clean, everything was done on time, Abigail and her staff were so kind, empathetic, patient and really helped us through this difficult time. This was an unexpected passing of my Father and we didn't know much but like I said she went over everything to make sure we had the proper Hindu ceremony and respected all of our cultural wishes. My Dad was given a proper and the most beautiful heartfelt funeral. The flowers, casket, ceremony to all the details couldn't have been more perfect. My family and I are so grateful for all the hand holding during this difficult time. Abigail went above and beyond. My only dislike was the mic for the speeches there was a loud echo making it difficult for the people to hear the speeches but during the recorded live stream the voices were recorded just fine so we have this forever. Thank you

A few weeks ago, I posted a very negative review regarding the condition of my father's graveside…read moreat Fairhaven Memorial Park. After two years of concerns and disappointment, I honestly wasn't sure anything would change. Today, I met with five members of the Fairhaven team, including management and grounds personnel, to discuss the issues. I am pleased to say they took my concerns seriously and turned a very negative situation into a positive one. They explained the steps they have taken to correct the problem, including repairing and replacing sprinkler lines, addressing irrigation issues, and replacing the dead grass surrounding my father's gravesite. Most importantly, they listened. They acknowledged that the condition of the area was unacceptable and took responsibility for making it right. Losing a parent is difficult, and having confidence that their final resting place is being properly cared for means a great deal to families. I left today's meeting feeling reassured that Fairhaven is committed to maintaining the grounds and preventing these issues from happening again. Thank you to Stephanie Alvarez and the Fairhaven team for responding professionally, meeting with me personally, and taking action to address my concerns. I will continue to visit my father's gravesite regularly, but I am encouraged by the improvements that have been made and appreciate the effort to restore my confidence. The attached photo shows the condition of the area today.

Nice cemetery - both my in-laws and many friends are buried here. It is usually a good alternative…read moreto Holy Sepulcher. Today was unfortunately the 4th funeral I've been to this year. The wake was held in the mausoleum the evening before. It was nicely set up. I was a bit turned off for the funeral services because during the burial, Kailee (sp?) young Emo looking girl that was assigned to help the family at the grave site, was not helpful. I asked her for an extra easel to display a framed photo and she quickly answered she didn't have anymore. I asked her if I could use the podium because the family wanted this second photo up and she declined saying no we couldn't . I told her I understood and then asked her what her suggestion would be - where should I put it? She suggested I lay it down on one of the cocktail tables she had in the back of the seating area. What would be the point of that? No one would be able to see it much less the decedent's parents who wanted this second photo on display. I think this was a small request and nothing unusual but apparently too much to ask for. And somehow she kept finding easels for the flower arrangements. 2nd thing she did that we felt was disrespectful was while the priest was praying a Hail Mary, Kailee was busy removing the cellophane from several flower bouquets and the noise from that was absolutely distracting and impolite. This girl had no situational awareness or maybe she didn't care. Family kept turning to look her way because they couldn't figure out who or what that noise was. Please hire more emotionally "mature" and compassionate people that know how to behave in delicate situations. Compliments to the three gentlemen that worked the heavy equipment and lowered the casket- they were careful, efficient, and buried my relative swiftly, neatly, and with care. Thank you, Simon. There was a second young lady (Hispanic) that was partnering with the emo girl - she was professional and polite.
