This theater was not really busy when we came here on a Saturday for a 6:30 pm movie. We went to see John Wick Chapter 4 and my husband wanted to try the 4DX theater. So I am reviewing the 4DX experience. Was happy to see that the theater wasn't packed in fact it was quite empty. The seats felt for sure like you were going on some kind of ride at a carnival. So the only thing I knew about the 4DX was that the seats moved like you were feeling what the characters in the movie were feeling and you get water on you when there is scenes that coincide with getting wet. You're also supposed to get smells that are in the movie and other things like fog and wind. Anyways, I did not like it. It was a good movie and I felt I could not really enjoy it because I was anticipating when would be the next moment I would get jerked around in my seat. I literally felt like I got whiplash, there were a few times when I felt I was going to get thrown out of my seat and I kept having to re-position my self on the seat after each movement of the chair because I was sliding forward on the seat. Even my husband who likes going fast, likes riding roller coasters didn't really care for it. I felt like some of the movements in the movie really didn't match with what was going on in the movie. Blood spatter and rain had sprinkles of water sprayed on you and puffs of air was coming out the seat backrest by my head, puffs of air and movement was happening by my feet, it was just so much going on with trying to pay attention to the movie. I really feel like there so be some kind of warning before you buy your tickets and the seats should come with seat belts. There was an elderly lady in the row in front of us and I don't know how she didn't walk out but she was gripping those armrests. I already told my husband this is the first and last time I will be going to a 4DX movie. But go see John Wick Chapter 4 it was great! read more

Came here to see Alien: Romulus. I haven't been to the movies in a while and Dole Cannery Regal offers a wide variety of film viewing options the other theaters in town don't have, such as 4D and Screen X. I decided to watch the film on the Screen X (basically horizontal IMAX) as I'd never had that movie experience before. It was fine. My main gripes: Nobody at the ticket booth; you're just left kind of figuring out how to buy tickets at an electronic kiosk as nobody was there to assist in purchasing tickets. The theater I was in was super old and needs updating. The chairs were flat and uncomfortable from years of use. It seems like a waste to see a film in IMAX or Screen X or whatever only to have crappy outdated seats. It's like half the experience. Everything felt kind of worn down. Food is overpriced, and definitely less options than Consolidated theaters. I might come here again to try a film in 4D, only because it's not offered at other theaters. But if it wasn't for the fact that this theater has some viewing experiences others don't, I don't think I need to come back. I'll just stick to the newishly renovated Kahala theater. read more

It's been years since I've seen a movie here and it was a must as Eternals was showing in 4D and 3D here and Marvel movies in 3D during opening week is a must for me. Tickets super easy to buy online now and I got mines Theo if j Fandango as I did not realize this theatre was a Regal theatre. The price for 4D and 3D movie is actually cheaper here than what I've paid for on the mainland. Getting refreshments, at least our line, was slow. And as always, it's expensive. BUT, thanks to my husband, he had a free popcorn reward so I could splurge on an icee. The carpeting in the lobby area is dated. But in the 4D theatre, everything was upgraded. Unfortunately, HI doesn't get the unlimited edition swag or memorabilia for sale, so we used the usual Real 3D glasses. And as I've seen a 4D movie before the testing of the seats are just as nauseating but the motion was ok during the movie and bearable. 4D movies aren't always available but when it is, shoots your movie wisely. It's a fun experience and highly recommend it. read more

Hey everyone! Want to unwind with your friends with a fun and exciting film? Then DO NOT COME HERE. We arrived for a 6:15 showing and were directed to Theater 18. We go to Theater 18 and the lights are off, nothing is playing and there is no music. Another elderly couple are sitting in the front row but besides that the theater is empty. After sitting in the pitch-black silent theater for 10 minutes an employee comes in and explains to our group and the elderly couple that the theater was broken and that we should just go to a different theater playing the same film and take any seats we wanted. The next available film was the 7pm IMAX feature so we go and take our seats there. Surprisingly another group arrives and says they booked the seats. We repeated what the employee told us about just taking any seats and another showing, and after some back and forth the manager (a large caucasian-asian lady who refused to give us her name) arrives and tells us to leave. We explain to her what happened and what the employee told us and she denies having hired anyone that looks like the employee we described, instead saying a guest must have told us that information. We told her it was an employee and she began to insiuate we were lying about the event. At this point several members of our group began arguing vehemently with her, leading to other members to begin arguing with them to calm down. The manager offers to put us in another theater that has a showing at 7:45. At this point half our group leaves since the showing the theater tried to put us in was an hour and a half after our time. Some of us decided to stay and watch, but the night was for all purposes ruined. This theater is perhaps one of the worst run institutions I have ever had the mispleasure of coming across in Hawaii. Poor management combined with a lack of any personal relations skills led to us essentially being told to take any seats at any theater and then being accused of lying about the incident. This is on top of the fact this theater is dingy, dirty, run-down and outdated. If you want to have a fun experience at the theater, go to literally any other cinema. If you can't, just wait for the film to be released on streaming. Trust me, don't waste your money here. read more

I watched Avatar 2 in IMAX and it was stunning! The 3D and effects were so much better in IMAX in comparison to the Standard 3D at the Consolidated Theaters, which were pretty blurry. If you care about the quality of your 3D experience, then this is the best theater choice. My girlfriend had a bad movie experience but my experience at this movie theater was just mediocre. We came here on a Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m to watch wicked. The movie was really good and we both enjoyed it, however upon entering the lobby was very hot like there was no air conditioning even in the auditorium it was also hot again no air conditioning! The concession was understaffed with only two lines with 9 people in line. My girlfriend waited 45 minutes for a pizza. Why did it take so long for one pizza? and my friend said the staff had to make the pizza and do cashier at the same time. At other theaters that i've been to they have runners for each cashier and a kitchen person already in the back. Although the movie theater hasn't solved their slow concession service but also needs to improve on staff to check the auditorium to prevent movie hoppers from illegally watching a free movie, i've seen one guy who just helped himself to a random seat while the movie was like at the halfway point. read more

Bought an IMAX ticket to see a 5pm show. To my surprise, theater #6 DID NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING during the hot summer! Also: THIS IS NOT AN IMAX THEATER !!! When we sat down, the first thing I noticed was that the arm rests were worn down that the cushions were deflated and the irritating feeling of resting your arms on the frame of the arm rests was painful. In addition, the seats' cushions seemed to be quite worn down, so some seats lean forward and some tilt. All of this lead to an overall unpleasant outing to these theaters. I know these theaters were opened in 1999. 25 years later, hopefully Regal Theaters management reviews this to realize how unpleasant and run down these theaters are. read more

I love the Regal Unlimited which allows you to see movies for free or at a discounted price such as only paying the fee for premium theaters . Discounts at the concession stand is great too. Regal Dole Cannery Theatres is cool now! It wasn't too long ago that the Dole Cannery theatres was a bit....outdated. A little dingy. Dank. Dark. And a little depressing. Not anymore! Dole always had IMAX, and that's it. Then it had RPX, which is just IMAX Pro Plus. After an upgrade to new, comfortable seats a couple of years ago for the big screens, this theatre ain't too bad! Then it introduced 4DX, which you can "feel" the movie. I've never tried this yet, but my friend said it's a little hard to pay full attention to the movie when you're moving and shaking around in your seats with sprays of water, gusts of wind, and random lights flashing. Just recently, Regal introduced ScreenX! This is a 270 degree view experience in certain parts of the movie. I watched Ford vs. Ferrari, and this was the absolute perfect movie for this. Every time there's a racing scene, it switches to the 270-degree view, which is along the left and right sides of the wall, so it's better to sit in the back. This was really cool and awesome!! You are really immersed in the scene and you can feel the intensity. The sound matches the scene perfectly. It's like you're in the car too! I've been to Regal Dole Cannery Theatres many, many times, and this is probably the best it's ever been. The concession stand is remodeled and the menu is upgraded as well. Even the staff working there seems more upbeat and friendly. I love the fact that this theatre is big and not too busy. There's plenty of secure parking in the multilevel garage with validation for four hours only, so if you decide on a doubleheader, you will need to pay after the four hours, which is $2 per half hour, but if you stay passed after the parking attendant finishes work, then you can just drive out as the gate will be raised. Dole Cannery is also the only theatre in Hawaii that shows new Chinese movies! Overall, this theatre is cool now! With the introduction of RPX, 4DX, and ScreenX, moviegoers has a chance for unique and exciting movie experiences. The concession stand is updated and upgraded, and the staff seems to be in better moods and actually want to be there. I like all the updates! But there should be more! The smaller screens still have the old chairs, and change the carpet! Still feels super old! Other than that, no other complaints. I think it's time to consider Dole Cannery more than just Ward Theatres as the default theatre. read more

My friends & I enjoy the Regal Unlimited program and visit Regal a couple times each week. I'm usually the first person to defend Dole Cannery Regal when coworkers badmouth it when comparing to Consolidated Theaters. I usually brag about the ScreenX & 4DX options, since Dole is unique. However, we were quite disappointed today with our 4DX experience. We tried using the kiosk, which showed more than 12 seats were broken, then there was an error message so we couldn't complete the transaction. After the concession employee finished, she never gave us our glasses. None of the previews were in 3D (nor any 4DX effects) so we didn't realize the movie was 3D until it started. I had to go back to concessions to get the glasses then ran back. Unfortunately, the gray glasses weren't "working" so I had to leave again to get a black pair from the guy at the door. I wasn't the only one... others also had to leave twice with the same issues. Throughout the ENTIRE movie, the only effects the seats offered was vibration and the theater had wind. There was zero movement from any seat in the whole theater. Zero water splashes. When we asked to speak to a "manager" to give them a heads up, his response was "well then that just means that movie didn't have any scenes with motion or anything". Wow! We reminded him that the introduction about the 4DX theater's features also offered zero movement... only wind & vibration. Very disappointing! read more

I recently saw Oppenheimer in the IMAX. Had never been to this complex before. Prior to going, I read in a number of reviews that many of the theaters smelled like latrines. The theater smelled fine, didn't know what everyone was talking about. Went to see American Graffiti in one of the regular theaters yesterday. Smelled like an unflushed toilet bowl. I don't quite get this. Are the bathrooms so far from the theaters that people just whiz on the floor? I mean, that IS convenient. Way uncomfortable chairs. Won't be coming back to this pee-palace until management cleans up this dump. read more

I do not know why the concession is always a bit slow even with long or short lines. At least they still have the tuesday specials and the validation is back to a decent amount of time. As a former longtime patron of this theater, I've come to enjoy it less and less over the years especially with the concession lines which can take forever. The last straw for me was last evening when I came to see the new Alien Romulus movie. As a huge fan of the franchise I was looking forward to capping off my long and tiring work day by relaxing a nice cool theater watching a movie I enjoy. After buying my ticket and presenting it to the person at the theater entrance, I'm informed that not only is the air conditioning broken/not working in the theater that my scheduled movie time was in, but 5 OTHER theaters had no working air conditioning!! WTF?! There were quite a few upset patrons including many that had already bought snacks and drinks to enjoy their movie. And all the management staff could do is offer a refund, no apology for the AC being broken. And first of all, what kind of business are you running where it gets to the point where almost half of your theaters have no working AC? There were other empty theaters that had no movie playing at the time Alien Romulus was supposed to start that HAD working AC. Instead of trying to solve the problem for the people that had already paid, they could have offered to move the showing to one of the empty theaters and pushed back the start time. Myself and others would've been totally fine with that instead management did nothing for our inconvenience except offer ticket refunds. So a total of 6 theaters had no working AC for the night. And based on other reviews I've seen about people complaining about non working AC during their movies, I see that that this is an ongoing problem which management has Obviously refused to address/fix or just turned a blind eye to it. Regal Cinemas, I'm done with you after this fiasco. Sticking to Consolidated from now on. read more

Wow. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie. I think the last one I saw was the original fast and the furious. Anyway so my work place gives out these movie tickets on your birthday which is good for regular screening. If you decide to upgrade your experience then it's an additional 4$ or so for the rpx which is technically better sound and non reclining Leather chairs. Lol. I mean at least the seats are slightly larger. Their movie theaters seem kinda old and outdated and on the smaller size and needs better cleaning. The next movie avail at the time was only an rpx so we had no choice. The lady at the ticket booth was nice and patient as we figured out where to sit and she. Ended up selecting it for us anyway. She said it wasn't a big deal since it wasn't that busy in the theater we can just sit somewhere else. But they do have a little upgraded concession food other than your staple popcorn and hotdogs. Not sure if the parking is free but you do need to get it validated. By the time we left the cashier person at the booth was gone for the day. read more

Idk how this theater still has 3 stars!? I also saw someone else conplain about the air conditioner being out during their movie! Great movie..very uncomfortable experience. Here's what I emailed Regal customer service as a formal complaint Tonight, I  went to enjoy a movie at your Dole Cannery location. Me and my boyfriend and I don't get out on too many dates, so I was looking forward to this. We went to see bikeriders at 7:25 pm. I mentioned that the theater was pretty hott to my boyfriend when we first sat down. I thought it would cool off once the movie started but it did not...to the point where I left the theater avout 30 minutes into the movie and told an employee that maybe the AC never got turned on. To where I got the reply that the employee noticed that there was something going on with theater 4's air conditioning...hmm maybe that's something they should take care of if it's something noticeable..so I returned to the theater and hopefully waited for it to cool down..which it never did! The movie was great! And I don't have time to go catch a movie as much as I'd like to..so my bf and I continued to sweat through the movie..every now and then checking on each other seeing if we should leave because of our discomfort. We exited as soon as the movie ended, and it was drastically cooler in the lobby. But then I continued to go use the restroom, and the stalls did not have toilet paper. So that was the icing on the cake for my date night. We will definitely not be returning to this location. I am hoping to at least get a refund so maybe when I get time, we will be able to enjoy a movie at a different location.  Sincerely a disappointed movie goer,  Miss Wright To which they basically responded that if we had left 20 minutes into the movie we could've got a refund. Decided to watch Spiderman and take advantage of the $6 Tuesday tickets. I had reserved tickets online and scanned at the kiosk to get the tickets. Probably a good idea to go this way and pay an extra $1 or $2 processing fee, since when we showed up there was only one person at the booth and a line of 9-10 people. Person at the door checked ticket. Didn't check vax. This location is a bit more run down than other theaters. Chairs are old and a bit uncomfortable. It was less crowded than the other theaters we were looking at, so we opted for this one. All in all, average experience. I would be back if needed, but I may choose another location with a cleaner environment and better chairs. You can park at the parking garage and validate on your way out. read more

Hubby, daughter and myself came here right after picking up daughter from school. What a treat! We watched The Secrets of Dumbledore. This theater had 4D which means the seats move, you get a smog maker up front, jolted hard by the seats depending on the scene of the movie, get jabbed from the back of your chair and a little mist sprayed in your face. It reminded me of the rides at Disneyland lol I was the only one screaming and laughing in the theater. Honestly who cares what people think. I think there were two other people in the movie theater other than us three. The movie was good and worth your money. Hubby paid big money just for us to watch this in 4D. The theater was clean and the concessions were not as busy on a weekday. Not sure how weekends are. The parking is in a structure and you must grab a ticket before entering the parking structure. You have to validate the parking ticket at the movie theater to the guy once you enter at the doors. We didn't have to pay anything since our ticket was validated. I highly recommend coming here to watch movies. It was so much fun. read more

A friend had mentioned to me that I should watch Top Gun:Maverick in 4D because it was good. Prior to that, I have to admit, I saw the movie twice already (LOL), once on Screen X. Screen X is pretty awesome and can also be found at Regal Dole Cannery. . ScreenX is a panoramic film format which presents films with an expanded, dual-sided, 270-degree screens projected on the walls in a theater. Feels like you're in the action. The 270 degree is active during the action scenes. Now let's talk about 4D. The theater was clean and the seats are sectioned in a group of 4. If you haven't experienced it at least once, highly recommend you do so. I also suggest eating your food prior to the start of the movie. Eating popcorn during is bearable. 4D immerses you in the movie. The seats move, there's water mist, wind effect, and lighting effects. I should have brought my jacket. I found the seat to be not as comfortable as the regular movie seats, but it's okay because it was all about the experience. If I had to give a grade to the experience, I'd give it an A. read more

Saturday I paid for 4 friends to join me at a 4Dx movie experience and we watched the movie NOPE. The experience was awful. The lady greeting the front door was grouchy and seemed like she was over being there. I asked for the movie location and she told me look at the movie viewing on the right or left as I walk to the consession stands, rude! We get to the theater the rubbish can are flowing out with trash. We walk to the seats there is popcorn, trash, ice cream rubbish on the chairs, soda cups left in the chairs, we get to our chair, and there is food in the boxes on our chair with napkins all over the place, pop corn on our chair, and fricken ridiculous. I walked to the consession stand to ask the gentlemen if they could atleast clean up the theaters, I asked for a manager, they said they were busy. Mind you I spent $99 to watch this movie in the action chair and the fricken chairs moved what like 4 times throughout the movie, the movie is the wrong movie to have 4DX its a waste of money, there is no action in the movie, its good for basic movie viewing, it was a rip off After the movie, I asked for a manager, they advised they were unavailable, I tried calling the theater and the phone keeps ringing. Overall, it was false advertisement on the 4DX and I don't really ask of this but I would like a refund on this movie, it was a joke to sit in a filthy theater and the fricken chairs no move during the movie much, the chairs mostly vibrated through the movies. Please call me whoever sees this, I don't agree I should have paid for this experience, my friends do not want to ever what to go back again, and it was am embarrassment for I hyped the 4DX up from my watching jurrasssi park here and this experience went from a 11 to negative 5. The workers told me they were short workers, but you have people standing behind the concession stand, standing on the side of the counter talking not doing anything, no one could grab a broom dustpan or rubbish bag and clean the theaters for the next viewing.
