I've been going for awhile. There is no experience that's better than to sit in a theater with the biggest screen and around sound. And with popcorn and snacks it's better than being home. And for those people who want to save money, there is an Ultimate movie pass, so you can go as much as you want. Which equals paying twice, for the whole month. And there is even an Unlimited refill on a huge popcorn and drink, which is truly cheaper than buying without it. So get back to the movies, if you don't like crowds go early and on a Monday-Thursday which are crowd free. The movie experience is still the best, so get out and enjoy a movie and buttery popcorn!! read more

Went to see the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie on Sunday! Theater was in decent shape. They do not have the fancy reclining seats like other theaters these days, but overall pretty comfortable. The theater does offer seat selection, which is nice. I haven't been to a movie in theaters for a while, so I was surprised that you purchased tickets at the concession stand, instead of a box office. Employees were friendly and helpful. It wasn't very crowded, which was nice. I'd go back if I had to watch a movie in the area. There is food and ice cream in the same parking lot which is nice before or after the movie. read more

Dirtiest, most ghetto theater I've ever been to. Concessions lines are always unnecessarily long. My sister and I were harassed watching a movie by a group of teenagers who snuck in and the supervisor did nothing about it. Unless you want to be assaulted during a movie I would suggest going to Carlsbad, San Marcos, or Mira Mesa. Complaints to the general manager are completely ignored. The nicest folks work here but the theatre is old and in need of an update. Came by for a mid-week treat for littles. A matinee showing for one adult, 2 kids, 1 small popcorn and 1 small icee ran us almost $50 bucks! Movie theatre was nearly vacant (granted mid week.. mid day.. so it was a plus for us). Bathrooms and theatre were very clean. Chairs are old and your standard floppy movie chairs (hard for little kids to sit without folding up into the chair).. but we still had a good time. Such a big theatre.. I'm sure this was the jewel back in the day.. just needs a little update and it could be a fun place to return. Not great, not bad. The set up is different. I would say it's set up for people to sneak from one theatre to the other since they are all smashed together in a hallway. The entrance is a huge oversized lobby with the consession stand, bathrooms on either side and most the staff. Once your in the theatre halls its empty. Chairs are okay, and theatre is usually clean. I do appreciate that this theatre does not freeze you out like some places. I come here for the regal points system. Overall it's an A ok place!! read more

The person that designed this movie theater obviously didn't actually go to the movies. The design is crazy, with only 1 of each bathroom and they're in the front lobby. This is a 16 screen theater, guys! Not good. I used to work at a movie theater, right after high school. So I know the ins and outs, all the tricks. Go early to get a seat. Except a lot of the theaters in this house have now gone reserved, so you don't have to worry about it. But you do have to buy tix ahead of time, be aware of that. I recently went to a really full showing on a Sat, and heard the dad of a family ask as they walked in a few minutes before showtime, "where are our seats?" To which his wife responded , "They're not reserved seats." And then a small shriek escaped his lips, as he desperately searched the crowd for anywhere that had 5 seats together. Good luck with that one! They actually are serving burgers & fries, pizza, etc. Not as fancy still as Angelika, but they've applied for an alcohol permit, so they're trying to keep up. Not fancy seats, so I try to see things at Angelika if they get it. If not, it's here or maybe San Marcos. But this theater isn't as busy, has lots of parking, and a 99 Cent Only store next door. I cant leave 5 stars because the hours online say they close at 11:30 on a Wednesday and when I went to buy more snacks at 10:50 they told me I couldn't buy anything because they closed their registers. Honestly I would've let it slide if it was 11:20 since they have movies playing barely starting at 10:30 so for them to stop selling at 10:50 is kind of crazy:) Also why is their workers working in hoodies, sweats and headphones? This was my first time here, I usually go to Edwards in San Marcos. So first off, the positive. The seating was comfortable. The screen was large and perfect. The hallway had nice ambiance giving my family a good reminder that it was a night out. Now for the negative. There's only one. The reason I gave it one star was because of the movie volume. It was so LOUD during the movie it was INSANE! Honestly people could have hearing damage. It wasn't just me but my entire family that complained about the volume. We sat in the middle a fair distance from any speaker. My eardrums we're ringing hours after I left the theater. I went outside to ask a manager to turn down the volume but was told it's IMAX and there wasn't anything he could do. The only reason I won't be going to this theater again is because of the volume. That's it. Unless Edwards replies to my review and explains why this problem happened and gives a good reason that it won't happen again my family will not be back. read more

There's not a person to help you get tickets. If you ask the person taking tickets they tell you to just go do it yourself and then you have to ask for a manager who again tells you to do it yourself and you have to be kind of a dick to get help that only ends up taking like 2 minutes. We went last night to see Dune 2 and the IMAX theater was very nice until the previews started. The sound was way too freaking loud, I could not stand it!!! I stuffed wadded up napkins in my ears which helped a bit. I don't understand why it has to be so loud. It was the worst experience I have ever had at a movie. I even have some hearing loss and it was still too loud, would not be surprised if it caused more damage. I left with a terrible headache. It was my first movie experience since the pandemic and I doubt I will go again unless I have good earplugs. This is no reflection on the movie itself, as it was excellent. read more

I went in with somewhat low expectations having seen the reviews but really, this theater was perfectly fine. Upon entering I showed my digital ticket to the employee who informed me of the room number the movie would be in, and I was free to head in or buy something to eat or drink-- which I did. There were many employees available to take orders so I did not have to wait at all, however this was afternoon on a Tuesday so that is to be expected (it was also Valentine's day but honestly the theater was hardly full regardless). The employee quickly served me my order of 1 ICEE and I was off to watch my movie-- Titanic. There are many reviews talking about how loud the movies were. I was slightly skeptical but it really does get a bit loud at times, however that is to be expected with IMAX movies in general. Personally, the loudness was actually quite immersive during key moments in the film-- the room rumbled as Titanic's reciprocating engines began to spin, it shook as the ship went down... however, there were times where the loudness almost became a sort of white noise, nothing discernable through the speakers, most notably when Jack and Rose were washed away and slammed into the gates by LOUD rushing water. Also good to note that during the previews there was a short WW1 scene that nearly blasted my ears out, so maybe avoid war movies with this theater...! Jokes aside, if you know you cannot tolerate loud noises, it might be best to find another theater, or avoid IMAX pictures. The seating in this theater was adequate. They weren't anything exceptional, the seat easily folded itself back up if you sat up which was slightly bothersome, but ultimately not an issue. Through the duration of my 3 hour movie I felt comfortable. I would also like to note that this theater does have wheelchair accessible seating. I cannot attest to the A/C being too cold because I wore a coat, and even with my chilly ICEE on a rainy February afternoon, I felt perfectly fine. The theater did not feel too hot or too cold. As another reviewer suggested, just wear something warm and take it off if it's too hot. The only complaint I had was that the theater seemingly did not have 3D glasses available despite the movies being 3D, so I had to ask for a pair at the concessions desk which wasn't a /huge/ problem, but I think Regal should look into adding booths or tables with glasses readily available near the theater room entrances if they haven't already-- if there were any, I didn't see them during my short walk to Room 1. Personally, I think some reviews are pretty harsh for this theater. Perhaps in the past it may have had issues, but I believe that they have been remedied, leaving us with a fine theater. I will be visiting again sometime! read more

We just saw the Wicked movie here and it was great. What stood out most was the manager Juan. He was so kind to my husband and I, and went above and beyond to make our experience at the concession stand incredible. We could really tell that he was really loved by his staff too. I'm cheating and writing ONE review for three theaters. I have a reason for this. I have been a loyal Regal/Edwards customer for MANY years and have earned hundreds of thousands of Regal points. For 2018, we purchased MoviePass from Costco for $90 for a year of movies. I think most people know that MoviePass has changed its plan several times throughout the year and this has changed my movie watching habits. My number one theater has been Escondido Regal because it's super close to home. Edwards San Marcos has been a close second and honestly, I way prefer it over Escondido and it really only loses out for convenience. You can see my previous reviews on the San Marcos theater & the Escondido theater. All of that being said, a combination of MoviePass changes and the Regal chain being bought out have changed my life. With changes to MoviePass, the Regal group, including Edwards, has backed away from taking the card for more than one movie per weekend. That doesn't fit with my movie-watching habits and it's usually NOT a movie I'm interested in. Cinepolis in Vista allows me to purchase my ticket AND seat electronically with MoviePass in the morning for an evening movie. This is a HUGE benefit. I know for sure I will be getting in to the movie I want to see. The process is VERY simple. When I arrive at the theater it is easy to walk up and print my ticket using my purchase code. Now, the Cinepolis rewards program does not give rewards for MoviePass purchases while Regal does, but this has yet to be a problem for me. Edwards and Regal each have only one kiosk for self serve and long lines to purchase tickets. Cinepolis Vista Pros: ~Can order tickets and seat online ~Comfortable reclining seats ~Bankers line for concessions ~Good popcorn and Experience so far has been that while they butter your popcorn, they tend to get it pretty right. ~self-serve beverages - large selection of options and EASY refilling! ~So far, staff have been friendly and efficient ~Lots of places to grab quick food before movie Cinepolis Vista Cons: ~20 minute drive ~Restroom is in need of serious help... Poor lighting and the sinks on south side of restroom are broken ~No Cinepolis points on Moviepass purchases ~Does not sell alcoholic beverages ~Is not the same level of quality or offerings as other Cinepolis locations if that is important to you. I actually don't like the seat service because it is distracting during a movie, so this is only a con for some people. Regal Escondido Pros: ~Close to my home ~Allow Regal points on Moviepass purchases ~Refills on Popcorn and Drinks ~Now serves alcohol Regal Escondido Cons: ~Seats are worn out, not very comfortable and some are broken ~Removed banker line for concessions due to new owners ~Only one movie at a time available for MoviePass purchase ~Staff move so slow, they seem to be going backwards and demonstrate a complete lack of urgency or concern for customer service. ~Popcorn is not very good ~Limited beverage selection ~Required to wait in line, sometimes very long, to get refills on popcorn and drinks. ~Bathrooms are usually dirty and trying to dry your hands over the wet sinks usually results in getting soaked Edwards San Marcos Pros: ~Show Fathom Events ~Allow Regal points on Moviepass purchases ~Refills on Popcorn and Drinks ~Now serves alcohol ~My usual experience has demonstrated good customer service, from line staff to management. ~Staff try to refill you if they notice you in line looking for a refill ~Butter your own popcorn so you can get it the way you like it ~Not only have the large main restroom, but also smaller restrooms near theaters for quick in and out during movies Edwards San Marcos Cons: ~Can't use MoviePass for Fathom events ~Removed banker line for concessions due to new owners ~Only one movie at a time available for MoviePass purchase I think its easy to see that Escondido is just sad and in part it can only be chalked up to poor management. I will still go there when the stars align and when I no longer have a MoviePass, but I definitely feel that when I'm not limited by MoviePass, Edwards San Marcos is my best bet with Cinepolis Vista being the top choice when using MoviePass. read more

Oh man, not sure where to begin with this movie theater. Definitely needs renovation and better staff please... I've been to this movie theater a couple of times so far and almost every time I went, somehow the auditorium doesn't match with my ticket that I bought through their website and so my seat isn't correct either. I have to go out and find someone to tell me what happened and they don't even apologize and say "we had a system glitch or issue and so the auditorium was changed or the auditorium was shown incorrectly. Your ticket doesn't show your correct seat...". They could have just told me this when they scanned my ticket. And there is never anyone at the guest service area so that really frustrated me too. The chairs aren't as comfortable and staffs are just not very friendly. This movie theater is close to where I live but I don't think I would want to come here if they're always having problems with their system "glitching". I would give it zero star if I could but one star is the requirement... And I guess I could give it one star since they at least have movies to watch. read more

Not impressed. Lobby not clean and trash cans overflowing. Staff at the food counter were unprofessional, throwing empty credit card rolls across the employee area. Line for food was extremely long and staff was unorganized. One of the cashiers was clearly irritated with someone as he was rolling his eyes & sighing while helping a customer. During the movie, teenagers were jumping in and out of their seats non stop back and forth, and consistently talking. No one checking tickets as you enter the hallway to the theaters so I can assume kids were hopping theaters. Definitely needs better management and more staff to address these issues. read more

I have the RegalUnlimited, this was my second time this theatre. I was greeted on arrival by the best ticket checker. He was super nice and personable. From concessions I just got a soda this time, but then I saw the menu. They have some super fun and inventive options. Ohhhh and ice cream!!! That's likely what won my heart. Today I had a near personal viewing of my film in theatre 8. The only thing that the management should look at is the lighting on the "EXIT" sign, it's dim at best or not lit. The stadium style, cloth covered, rocker type chairs were super comfy. I also dig the assigned seating. That makes me happy. The theatre was clean, staff was super nice, and the snacks were spot on. People who give this 5 stars must not have experienced other theaters. A/C was not working for opening weekend of Indiana Jones. Went to ask for a refund and the "manager" refused to give me my money back because I paid with Apple Pay, and they need the physical card to issue a refund. I had to show her the transactions and how Apple Pay works until she granted my refund. For $25 a ticket I can have my own LAZ boy at Cinepolis or the Lot. General staff wanted to help but manager seems to not care, which reflects on how Regal forgets this location exists. read more

Regal Cinema in Escondido has been our go-to location for movies over the years. Things are different recently. The last several times we paid for tickets the cashiers double charged our points balance. The first time 3/4/23, cashier Dean charged for the ticket and dinged our point balance 8,000 points. The next day, 3/5/23, cashier Arwen dinged us for 23,000 points. Everybody beware of these double charges and petty theft. Regal apparently is in bankruptcy and we customers should be ultra diligent about billing cheats and corporate larceny. The manager claimed that adjustment was not possible--HE LIED. Also, beware of soiled food. They are probably using their old food before they shutter. read more

I live here over 10years and I never have a problem of this theater I love to come here on whenever new movies come out people just being a mess here I saw popcorn everywhere on the floor, just can't get enough employees to work on that mess people keep making. I went in when they have stars war and no omg it's so messy. But it's not even their fault if everyone can keep their stuffs clean I won't end up looking so dirty at the food court. They have a big restroom for everyone so they don't have to wait too long. Theater is nice and clean, I saw they always clean after each movie we got the reward and military special it always work out well for me. I didn't try another foods I love the popcorn and coke, but I saw they have ice cream now. People check you in also way too nice I'm not sure what's people complaining about.
