Went to the Elvis documentary, Epic. Not one poster nor no advertisement on the outside advertisement. To make matters worse. there was no signage over the theater it was Showing in. Every other movie was named and easy to find. We couldnt find it and had to be shown by the person taking up tickets. Workers were rather rude and acted like they wished they were someplace else. We were early. They have removed any bench or. Chair to sit and wait. Only two chairs there are massage chais you have to pay to use. PLEASE! read more

Absolutely amazing customer service. The staff is very nice and the manager was very accommodating. I highly recommend this theater! Monday is mystery movie night for just a few bucks and Tuesday is value day with tickets just as cheap. We've been here multiple times this year and it has been extremely clean. We have visited Regal Hollywood on two separate occasions and had excellent experiences on both our visits. We have the unlimited Regal pass for myself and my wife both, and we normally visit the Dawsonville location, but some movies are only available in Gainesville. On both our visits, we found the theater clean and welcoming. The bathrooms have always been very clean and in working order. The men's room inside the theater area has one toilet that is out of order, but with our current economy, that is not unusual at many businesses. The sound and video quality of the films is excellent and the theater itself has been clean on both our visits. The seating is very comfortable. We have not had to wait in line when we arrive for snacks or beverages; the staff are all very friendly and helpful based on our experiences. As other reviewers have stated, the building is older, but with so many theaters closing as more people stream content at home, I feel lucky to have a place to go. When you leave the theater after dark, the parking lot is dark, and with crime, I always bring a pocket flashlight and try to park close and be aware of our surroundings. Not really the fault of the theater but just a fact of life today. If you show up for an afternoon movie, it is something to be aware of. read more

This is the first time ever ever posted a review, but my experience here with my boyfriend was so poor I felt it necessary. I've been coming to this movie theatre now for almost 20 years, and our two recent visits have both been of equally poor quality. We arrived at 7:00 with tickets purchased online for a movie that was starting at 7:20. We stood in line for 45 minutes for concessions, and barely made it to our seats before the film started. This was not opening night for some major blockbuster, it was just a random Tuesday. I speak to all of this as someone with a medical condition that makes standing up for a long time very difficult. We shouldn't have to stand in line longer than for some Disney rides to just get some popcorn! Once inside, the floors were a disaster, absolutely covered in popcorn and garbage, and the bathrooms were atrocious. Every person that entered the Women's bathroom verbally acknowledged how bad it was, and my boyfriend confirmed the Men's was equally bad. I did not complain to any staff members, as I recognize that all of the employees working the register were likely as tired and stressed from how understaffed they were. Managers - it is time to bring back the exterior box office. STOP MAKING PEOPLE GO TO CONCESSIONS FOR TICKETS! The online ticket kiosk isn't working 50% of the time either. The COVID era movie going lull is over, and people are going back to theaters. You are destroying your employees by bottlenecking all guests through concession lines. This is a managerial issue. The next closest theaters to here are 30-45 minutes away. We want to support our local theater, but it's hard when the issues are this blatant. read more

Best management staff ever they care about their staff and every customer! They always are there to help

If I could give this theater zero stars I would. I would even take as far as rating it in the negative based on my experience today. Arrived at the theater around 3:30 for a movie that started at 3:40. Long line and it didn't help that we didn't purchase our tickets online. Even if we did, you buy the tickets and the snacks in the same line. There seemed to be only ONE employee working, the guy behind the counter. No one taking the purchased tickets and directing people to the correct room. No one helping him out when there's a line with nearly 20 people in it. He was so backed up that he leaves to look for other employees. First he went through the employee door immediately behind the counter. After several minutes he comes back. Still alone. Checks out one customer. Then comes from behind the counter and walks to the employee door that's at the front entrance. This is where I went to ask for a manager. Before I had a chance to do so, a boy who also worked there named Conner is who came out first. He has to be the most insolent person I've come across in a very long time for someone deals with customers. If you're going to have the gall to speak to a customer rudely, don't turn away and slam a door in their face. Yes, you read that correct. I then knocked (banged) on the door because I was truly taken aback by what happened. Being the coward that he is, Conner then walks by me very quickly to go work behind the counter. The manager, Zach, who was in ear shot, is now who I'm speaking to. I asked what they planned to do with this long line of complaining customers. He says he's working on it, fine. I also told him that Conner owed me an apology. My family has now purchased tickets and snacks. When speaking to Conner at the counter to tell him he owed me an apology, I was blatantly ignored and talked over. Repeated myself in a very clear manner that he owed me an apology, to which he turned his back on me and went through the door. Running off as a coward - I use that word again because if you're going to have the audacity to be that rude, stand by it and don't run away. Speaking to the manager Zach, once again, I told him that Conner owed me an apology and that he ran off when I told him as much. He assured me he would "talk to him" to get the full story. Told him again that he owed me an apology; he could do it infront of all the customers or if he wanted to do it with just me, I was fine with either. I asked if he would be off shift by the time my movie was over because I didn't want to miss it. Zach stated that Conner would still be on working and he would talk to him. If that happened, I'm unaware as I expected someone to address me once the movie was over. Because who has the time and desire to pay $50+ to miss part of the movie and previews. After all this is why this complaint started, because they were too backed and making people late to see movies. Mind you, in the minutes that this happened, more employees appeared. Zach is working behind the counter with the original employee and 2-3 other employees decided to start working. I'm still blown away how an employee can be so disrespectful to a customer and a manager not follow up with said customer??? This is the exact reason why I don't spend much money in Gainesville. It's worth a 30 minute drive to go to the movies in Buford. There needs to be additional training at this location, especially to Conner and the other employees who were elsewhere probably twiddling their thumbs while one employee is doing all the work. read more

I have been going to this theatre for years, and it is going so downhill. Once again, the room was not cleaned between movies. I suggest they turn the lights back up when they clean the place. I would have also taken a photo of the broken in half toilet seat in the ladies' room, but I didn't bring my phone in there with me. It's just a sad, sad movie theater. 2 thumbs down read more

Decided to come to this Regal cinema because it was the closest and had relatively good reviews on Google. Boy was this a mistake. Starting off, there were 3 lines for concessions and ticketing combined. These lines were not separated and resulted in a 30 minute wait in order to buy 2 tickets for a movie. The majority of concessions were out of stock, no water bottles, no icees, no butter for the popcorn. We came on a Saturday night and it was very busy, the lines went outside the door and a lot of people were confused about how to buy tickets. Additionally, the AC was broken and the entire staff (or what was left of it), was struggling to serve everyone despite all the setback. Would not recommend this place and have actively avoided since coming. If they were able to fix their queueing system, the ticketing system, the AC in the lobby and theatres, and help the staff not be overworked to the bone; then maybe it might be worth a return. read more

We moved from Marietta to Gainesville 3 years ago and were shocked at the dismal condition of this theater and the terrible concession stand service. As the years have passed, I see more damaged seats, more broken toilet fixtures, more rips in the screens. It's not like there are viable alternatives to this rundown, poorly managed facility unless you are willing to drive an extra 30 minutes. Sure, the parent company is in bankruptcy, and maybe deferred maintenance is Regal's only alternative. But I now purchase tickets a day ahead to avoid the 20-30 minute wait at the concession stand. Part of the problem is you're in line behind people trying to select their seats and then buying the day-old popcorn and other stale treats. The Icee machines seem to be always out of order, and the sodas taste off. I'm too afraid to try the hotdogs--has the health department ever inspected? I am copying this comment because I suspect that Yelp will be reluctant to publish a negative review on a theater that it claims is one of the ten best in the area. If I had a reasonable alternative, I would never go to another film at this dirty, broken down facility. Shame on you, Regal! read more

Tried to watch Elvis at this theater. Waited in line to purchase for some time, as we were buying tickets we were told we have no ice for drinks. I said that's ok we will buy bottled water. They said sorry we don't sell waters. We can give you a small cup to fill. Ok we said two large warm diet Pepsi's ( yes outside of Coca -Cola Mecca they dare to sell Pepsi!) And we will have a large popcorn, and nachos. Oh they say we are sorry there are no nachos we can give you Doritos. While we love Doritos we didn't want a small bag of Doritos we really wanted Nachos! So we opted out of a mediocre experience, after all the Elvis deserves better and so do we!! Do better. Go buy bags of ice while you slow ice maker tries to keep up. (We were told it wasn't broken just slow) ... You could buy Tostitos for Nachos right around the corner at Publix! At least try ... Regal Cinemas exemplifies corporate incompetence and blatant disregard for its customers. The communication between their corporate office and local theaters is laughably non-existent. Case in point: their Black Friday promotion for $10 off refill buckets. They sent an email blast advertising the deal but failed to inform their theaters. When I went to purchase, the theater staff had no idea the promotion even existed. I emailed corporate for clarification, and it took them three days to respond--by which time the special had already ended. Thanks to their inability to communicate effectively, I missed the deal entirely. Regal's staggering ineptitude is a testament to their impending failure. I eagerly await the day this disgrace of a company shuts down for good, and its executives are left to face the consequences of their incompetence. read more

Terrible theater with too many issues to note. but worse parts are: AC is not working properly, very muggy feeling, they have no Coke to drink....REALLY.... movie theaters make a fortune overcharging for popcorn and Coke. who runs this dump anyway? it's now past show time and the preview running on the screen are so distorted so bad you can't make out the images. I assume this will improve oncw the movie begins. If not, we're out of here. Someone with an executive level of authority who cares about the success of their business needs to visit this facility. read more

What a dump. We paid $60 to watch a movie on a the smallest movie screen I have ever seen. On top of that, someone had thrown a coke onto the middle of the screen and you couldnt help but notice it all throughout the movie. I talked to an employee who looked at it but didnt do anything about it. The seats were from 1995 and my 8 year old kept getting folded back up into the seat ever time he tried to lean back. There were some complications with the movie I was planning on seeing, but a wonderful woman named Carly helped get everything figured out. Had a fantastic experience here! I brought our summer camp with 21 kids and they made sure everything was taken care of. When I had difficulty purchasing tickets online Zach the manager made sure everything was fixed and squared away on site. He even told me how to make booking easier in the future. We will be sure to plan field trips here every year after the wonderful service we received today! read more

Showed up this evening for a movie, lines were long, not because it was busy, just slow service. Finally got to the counter and we were told they have no ice, tried to order water and they wanted me to pay for a soft drink purchase, even thou they had no ice. Went to order nachos and were told they only had natcho cheese dorito's and had no tortilla chips. We left for a better experience at another theater. Worst experience I ever had at a theater, if I had been the manager I would have sent someone a cross the street and purchased ice and supplies. Take control of the situation and address the issues instead of telling customers there will not be any ice or other concessions for the entire evening. read more

What a surprise this place was! Been awhile for me going to the movies at this location and it was a big disappointment! The ticket line is the same as the concessions which took over 20 minutes to go through. They were out of icees, and the drinks were hot- barely any ice. The popcorn didn't taste fresh and the lobby as well as the theatre was not cooled properly. In theatre 7, there was a large defective spot on the screen that interfered with the showing. Since the movie had just started, it was brushed off by the employees and nothing they could do. This should be checked beforehand. The bathrooms were a complete mess-The only thing good is that there was tissue, water, soap and the hand dryers worked. After spending over 80.00 at this theatre for one family night out I expect a little better. Regal didn't deliver and it is very disappointing! read more

I doubt this is a problem for theatre staff. More likely dictated by film companies. Putting the movie Aquaman in the auditorium next to The Mule... the walls and floor were constantly shaking from the Aqua man subwoofers. The Mule is a pretty personal movie and it took all the personal out of it. read more

There was a lot wrong with our visit tonight. Usually when we go to the theatre we always chose the Gainesville one over most others, though it has been years since we have been to the movies and tonight made it clear that they, or at least this one, had gone VERY downhill. Firstly, it was way overpriced and the quality of food did not exceed or even meet the price hike. Our popcorn was extremely stale and at one point we paid $14 for a junior Icee and a bag of fruit snacks. Our screen had a hugely noticeable defect in it and a bad wrinkle in the corner that my husband pointed out to me. Afterwards, my son wanted some Skittles out of one of the bubble gum machines. The machine ate his money and didn't give him his candy that he spent his own money on. We took it as a loss and decided just to let a worker know, as there were no out of order signs on the machines and to break another one of his dollars. When we informed the worker he was very rude and refused to break the dollar unless we bought something. Most of their arcade machines were also broken. It was all in all, not a good experience after spending almost $100 at this place. Do not go here. Take your money a little farther out to an AMC where you'll at least get food and an experience to match the price. I'm sure I'm a little partial being my hometown theater, but I really do love my Hollywood Cinemas. Yes, it's a bit messy but that's because it's ALWAYS CROWDED. That's a good sign, right? Because my husband and I also teach locally, I love that Hollywood hires my students. It's so great to always be welcomed by at least one or ten of them at the ticket counter, behind the popcorn stand, or at the theater entrance. And when you're there, you MUST get a Coke Icee, it's un-American to not have popcorn and a Coke! Go by, say Hello to my kiddos, and enjoy a local flick! read more

When I pay $13/ticket for a matinee and drop another $18 on popcorn and a drink, I expect a clean and modern space where watching movies is a pleasure. This is not that kind of place. Ticket purchase is smooth (if the cost doesn't choke you) but that's where the smoothness ends. Concession lines are long and confusing. Lots of people working behind the counter but no order or efficient service. Costs are astronomical and popcorn is not the freshest or best I've ever had (reasonable expectations for the price.) Theater itself is very dated. Worn at the edges and without modern touches. Bathroom stalls do not all lock, fixtures are old. Wallpaper is peeling. You can hear loud noises from the other theaters during the quiet moments in your film. To pay so much to see a movie in a pretty dumpy environment left me feeling a bit suckered. Don't think I'll be back again with less expensive and nicer theaters closer to home. read more

When we go to the movies we expect to pay out more money for the popcorn and drinks than the movie tickets themselves. It sounds ridiculous but sadly it has become reality but never have I ever heard of being asked to pay for the salt that goes on the popcorn. No, I have not lost my mind and no, I am not kidding. That poor lady, who was a sweetheart, seemed embarrassed to tell me that I would have to pay for the salt. Does the moron who runs/owns this place actually think they can help their bottom line and keep their doors open by charging the customer for salt? All I can say to the people of Gainesville is to spend the extra 20 minutes it takes to get to the Regal in Dawsonville and see your movies there. And don't forget to tell the owners of Regal Hollywood to stick it up their salt mine. (And yes I do feel better now that I got that off my chest) I also might mention that out of the 4 people working there was only 1 person who was actually doing anything. The line was 12 to 15 people long and the other 3 employed lumps just looked on with looks of annoyance across there faces. Ladies bathroom had no soap, the men's bathroom had sticky floors, the popcorn was old and stale. I will be informing the Regal company also, just to let them know. We went for the 50th anniversary of Bullitt. Found the prices were jacked up for the show and Regal points were not accepted for the showing. Once the show started the house lights did not go down so it was difficult to enjoy the movie. Both me and my son complained to manager but there was no one on duty that knew how to take the lights down. A fiasco ensued but after ten minutes they finally figured out how to take the lights off the timer and manually shut the lights down. What a bunch of maroons! The story in the film is mediocre but the chase scene is still enthralling. read more

Gainesville Cinema is OK as far as theatre locations in Hall county can offer. It's not new and showy as other cinemas in surrounding counties, but It's relatively clean (I still wouldn't stoop to low to the theatre floors), offers 15 screens of viewing, and keeps me away from the nearest crowded gridlock that is Mall of Georgia. One thing to think about when seeing a movie here is that the theater complex has a few cinemas with stadium seating as well as with digital projectors, so don't expect every movie you see here to be ultra modern in projection and seating/viewing comfort. Concessions offerings are like every cinema complex anyone has visited; WAY overpriced! The popcorn tends to be dry/stale most of the time since many people just refuse to spend half their paycheck on this super profitable and cheap (for the cinema) snack, and the service (both in and outside the theatre) is often met with a friendly smile, but tends to be slow and sporadic at times; I notice that this place often operates with a small amount of staff. Although not a standing cinema bargain in anyones book, this cinema, as with most cinemas, empties a persons wallet or purse quickly enough with matinee (before 6PM), Senior and children prices at $7.00, and after matinee Adult price hitting $9.50. Gainesville's Hollywood Cinemas isn't new, comfy, or as pricey as some surrounding theaters, but it serves its purpose to the denizens of Hall and surrounding counties. It's an OK theater experience sans the exorbitant concession pricing, and saves me fuel by not traveling as far to see the latest movie. read more

While I was in town over Christmas visiting my family we all went to see the new Mission Impossible movie. While this is not the worst theater I have ever been to, is was far from the best. One thing that was lacking, were automated ticketing machines. What year is it? Almost 2012, right? Let's get with the times. They also don't have the standard stadium seating. So, I felt like I was miles away from the screen. Good thing I had my glasses with me. But, even though it was an old theater it was still very clean. Would I go back? It's your basic old-school, no-frills movie theater. No stadium seats, no fancy food or drink options here, just the latest releases located near downtown Gainesville. While a must-see flick for a die-hard movie buff would probably merit a drive to the fancier theaters at the Mall of Georgia, this one will certainly do for the casual movie goer. Most appreciated by me was that they still count a matinee movie as any one that starts before 6pm, while most theaters have pushed that time earlier and earlier. That means that before 6pm, an adult ticket will only set you back $7.50. That's not too shabby at all. read more

The theater smelled moldy and musty. My boyfriend has a mold allergy and it was acting up badly during the whole movie- he was tempted to walk out. I've been bringing my granddaughter here for summer movies for 2 years. The staff is polite and helpful. But the problem is there is 1 person in the ticket booth and a line of 20-30 people. Then you get inside and there are two people working the concession stand and the line is to the doors. I didn't get into the movie until 10 mins after it started. With DVDs, big screen TVs, and the offerings from DirecTV, HBO, NetFlix, and the like ... it has been many years since I stepped into a movie theater. This is significant, because movie theaters were once my holy temples. Movies on the big screen made the adventures larger-than-life and made you feel like you were a part of the action. So when a friend asked us out to the movies to see the newest Avengers flick ... game on! But the reality left much to be desired. Box prices were huge (I could have bought the DVD for less within a few more weeks). The concessions were beyond ridiculous for popcorn candy and soda ... I now understand why so many patrons were smuggling in their own snacks. Hello? Management? If you lower the concession prices, sales will rise, and you can make the same $$ on the volume, rather than scalping the patrons on a per item basis. Did anybody send these yo-yos to a business class? Cleanliness ... not much effort here. Bathrooms needed cleaning and attention to supplies. Some carpets and floors were sticky from spilt sodas and improper mopping. Trash cans were overflowing. And staff were standing around idle. Except for the manager, who stode about barking orders over a walkie-talkie ... which apparently resulted in no appreciable movement among the employees. So, not real sure what the goal was. The theaters had screens bigger than my big screen at home, but they weren't as big as I would have liked. Still, when you're cramming lots of theaters together (15 or 20 of them I think) I guess you have to go for economy of scale. Nope, don't need an IMAX, but would have liked to have felt "swept away". Anything less than this, I can have at home. What I can also have at home is no crying babies (mothers used to take them out, or to a room at the back with a glass window and a speaker); no talking Patrons (they blurt out the plot, their opinions, and their ignorance); and no uncomfortable chairs whose sole purpose (besides putting your butt to sleep) is to provide a holder for your soda. So with all these complaints, why did I give the Cinema a three star rating? Simple. The movies themselves, are still magic. read more
