It's walking distance from where I live so I'm biased (since I don't have a choice). This theater is full of teenagers, which is highly entertaining, but can be really annoying at times too. If you're looking for a horror movie, action movie etc. then be prepared for it to be sold out, as it's the popular categories that all teenagers check out at this location. If you're going for an artsy/ boring/ historical type movie, then you really won't have to worry about it selling out here. Word of advice sometimes dealing with real people, over machines to buy your tickets moves faster. So just check out both lines when you're looking for tickets. Or I'd strongly recommend buying tickets online in advance in case it does sell out (since that happens A LOT for almost all movies here). The space is HUGE, the food is expensive...so sneak in your own snacks?...there's a CVS around the corner...just saying. shhhh don't tell them I said so. Just watched a free screening of Edge of Tomorrow in IMAX 3D! That was my first time watching an imax movie at Majestic and I thought the seats were extremely comfortable and seemed brand new. I frequent downtown silver spring often and the parking is extremely convenient with two garages nearby. There are also plenty of restaurants to grab a bite before and after if hungry. read more

This Regal is OK... it's the only IMAX/3D theater around the DMV unless you go into Virginia. They always have the newest movies out. For the most part, the theater is clean. Only thing that bothers me more than anything else is the type of crowd/people you end up watching a movie with. I know you know the type of people i'm talking about. The hooping and hollering, making noise during the movie, talking, and cursing. That pisses me off and it happens occassionally here. I think I'm being kind when I give this place 2 stars. This is a huge complex. Twenty plus screens. Because of that it is always packed, but way under staffed. There are consistently HUGE lines to buy tickets and only 6 windows. There are not enough Fandango machines, and unless it is Saturday night the secondary concession stands are not open. Also, the bathrooms are usually like a truck-stop. What I do like are the theaters themselves: Big screen stadium seating. Even their smaller theaters are decent. Of the major theater chains, Regal is typically the worst. (Not that Lowes or AMC is any great improvement.) read more

I am very upset with the policy of "No outside food" at the theater in Silver Spring, Maryland. My husband and I went on a date at a local resturant and had decided to end the night with a movie. We were unable to eat everything so we had the restaurant to give us a "doggie bag." We walked to the theater bought our tickets only to be told to put our food in the trash. I spoke to the manager whom confirmed the policy and had no other options other than put it in our car. (We did not drive.) I am disabled veteran of the United States Army, and this policy is offensive. I understand the reasons for most policies and understand the need for order but this is just disrespectful. I would have appreciated the offer to hold my food, or even if the usher checked on us to see if we were eating, or stapled my bag to show it has not been opened. There are many ways to execute a "no eating policy", but realistically, If we wanted to eat in the theater I would have hidden the food like countless others. These policies breaks the standards of integrity that I uphold. I served my country with dignity, and I deserve to be treated better in an establishment I paid services for. Been here three times in 4 months when the concession stand took over 15 minutes to get a small order of food out from the back kitchen/prep. Last night was the worst: NO one was in line behind us, the place was a ghost town. Yet it still took 15 minutes for cold fries (so, we weren't waiting or fresh ones to cook and a hot dog! Our order was taken and then we were forgotttn completely. Employees or managers (!!) need to pay attention to the food that is expected to come out for guests waiting. I'm pleased they now have reclining, reserved seating, but I prefer the AMC Wheaton by a long shot: the theaters are nicer, the service is much better, as is the food, which comes quickly. Plus, adult beverages! read more

Regal Majestic - Cool Snack pack! $5 !!! - Cinema Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

I was out for a dinner and movie with my wife. We went to the Regal as we recently moved, and this was a bit closer than our previous theaters. Upon entering, I was pretty impressed with the building. But as we tried to enter, we were turned away by the usher, who said we couldn't enter with the leftovers from our meal. We took the meal out and showed the usher it was just a leftover salad. It was packaged well, not fragrant, and we had no utensils. I figured the only objections could be that the meal would smell or we'd try to eat it. But it had no odor, and we weren't hungry enough or desperate enough to eat a salad with our hands during a movie. The usher would have none of it, though, and called for a manager. The manager said it was a corporate policy that they had to follow. I tried reasoning with him with the exact reasons I described above, but the best he could offer me was leaving it at a desk at the top of the stairs. This would have been slightly appealing if the desk was staffed and not open for anyone to take and/or mess with our food (I know this isn't likely, but it isn't exactly comforting either). Alas, there was no person manning it, as we had to wait there several minutes for the manager to arrive. I like to travel to places as often as possible by Metro or by foot. I like to see movies. In the evening, I often will have a meal before seeing an evening film. I would think that this theater and the entire Regal chain would be friendly to both its customers and its surrounding businesses by not having such a silly rule in place. I hope they change it. Until they do, I'll be taking my business elsewhere, to the theaters that want my business and want me to partake of its surrounding area -- even if it means a longer trip, and ironically, taking a car in which I could put my food. read more

I stood in line for 23 minutes for popcorn. Unbelievable. Missed the first 20 minutes of the movie. Completely lost. 20 minutes for a damn bucket of popcorn. The best part is that after getting my popcorn, I joined my family in theatre 18 that smells like a poor attempt to mop up vomit. So annoyed. Next time I'll drive across town to AMC. Died a bit inside at Deadpool 8:20 screening. I can watch hardcore movies and they do not shock or wound me mentally. Because I am a full fledged grown up. Not a small child. 4 college students age 19 walk into a movie theater. Little did they know they were going to be asked for their IDs. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly by a movie theater. How dare they assume that my NYC born friend should travel to the nearest DMV to acquire and pay for a license for the sole reason of entering an IMAX? The manager at the front desk said to us "doesn't everyone have a license?" As a matter of fact no, my friend doesn't even own a car why would she have a drivers license. I now not only being denied access to the movie theater but i am also being financially shammed. The supervisor was even ruder and wouldn't even give us the time of day. I was completely satisfied with this theater. They carry a full selection of movies unlike the theaters near me in Rockville. I wanted to see Chris Rock's "Good Hair," and this was the only theater in the area (to my knowledge) where it was showing. They also have stadium seating, unlike the theater at White Flint Mall which was a complete disappointment. The location is great (near a few retail stores, restaurants and the metro station) and it is extremely clean. When the movie was over, the staff were waiting at the door with brooms. This is a pretty good theater. Big, lots of options and comfortable seats. They use stadium seating which is great for people like me who are short. The sound system is great and the bathrooms are clean. The screen is smaller than the Uptown and some other theaters but overall it's a pretty decent place. Tip- if possible, buy your tickets online ahead of time. The ticket window always has a huge line that seems to move very slowly. Same with the concession stands. Leave yourself some extra time before the movie as things take longer here than in other theaters. read more

I loved it here! R, his family and I went here last week and saw Zombieland (2 thumbs up!) and it was a great experience. I've never ridden an escalator at a movie theater before! The place was clean and relatively quiet the night we were here. We purchased our tickets quickly and stopped by the concession stand. Their large popcorn is enormous. Enough for like 4-5 people. Same goes for the large soda! They've got the help-yourself butter flavored liquid machines. I love those. The only bad thing is that it doesn't penetrate down to the popcorn in the bottom two thirds of the bucket. Warning for those watching their sodium intake- the popcorn is salty even without the butter flavored liquid. Good popcorn though. The theater itself was great. It was clean and the seats were comfortable. My only complaints would be the weird-o secret service looking guy who was assisting at the concession stand. One person would ring up your order and this guy in a suit and ear piece would get your popcorn, soda, etc. Strange. Second and most annoying was the guy with the Revenge of the Nerds laugh who laughed at things that weren't funny during the movie. Boo! read more

When this theater first opened it was a huge upgrade over every theater I ever went to in my youth. Alas I have grown more (I eat, I yelp, as sand through the hourglass...) and my taste has refined. It's still one of the bigger theaters in MOCO and the IMAX is always impressive, but wow the prices never stop rising! You expect concessions to be expensive and to their credit they do have a lot of frequent moviegoer programs to give patrons discounts, however tickets should not hover above $16.00 unless there's some kind of special add on. If you're single or a part of a couple you could still easily spend $35-$40 just for the tickets and a medium popcorn. Speaking of popcorn the helpings are huge, but if you want toppings make your way over to the slop trough were the "do-it-yourself" canisters greasily await your contribution to the mosaic of butter, ketchup, mustard on the counter. One thing I do like about this theater is the number of screens available. If a major studio movie is coming out you can expect to find at least one screen showing it six times a day. Despite it's flaws Majestic is still one of the better theaters in the area, so expect the masses in full on the weekends. read more

This movie theater is quite nice and very large. The seats are comfortable with high-backs. And the theater wasn't crowded--hooray! The concession line was long, but it moved fast because the concession area was well-staffed. Beware--the medium popcorn and the medium drink are both HUGE for one person! Definitely a good size to share between two people though. I recommend buying tickets on Fandango and having a mobile pass to avoid the ticket-buying line. They processed the mobile movie tickets without any problems. Staff was average-friendliness. This was a nice Saturday-evening outing, and it's right in the heart of Downtown Silver Spring, so there are plenty of nearby establishments to eat and drink before or after the movie. read more

Unbelievable. With the change to assigned seating, you can now purchase only seats next to other occupied seats -- if there is only one seat between yours and another occupied seat, you can not purchase it. And the newly installed ticket machines will not recognize valid gift cards (they require a swipeable, not scannable, card). read more

I like this theater. Parking is abundant and theres loads to do after or even before. The prices are fair and you can fandango your tickets. The stairs are precarious, and I usually take them. If you take notice there's a part of the stairs when descending that will run you straight into a pole. Engineers make me scratch my head sometimes. They have cherry and coke (and sometimes blue (dont know what that flavor is) icees. They are $5 and look small but are probably as big as a 7-11 big gulp. I'd say that they keep the theaters pretty clean, and they typically don't smell. I've never sat in anything, and my feet dont stick to the floor. Its relatively empty here during the day or late sunday afternoon. I go with the girls about once a month for our movie night. Tuesday and Ballerina will usually pick the movie and I just go. I always bring a huge queen sized fleece throw for all of us to snuggle under as its almost always FREEZING! read more

Came here last night to see the movie Straight Outta Compton. I've been to this theatre several time and l have to say, since my first experience it has improved dramatically. Previously, the theatre would be unkept, rude employees, and limited options at the snack bar. Now, I've seen cleaner theaters and friendlier staff. This place has really gone downhill since it switched from Consolidated Theaters to Regal a little over a year ago. The only reasons I continue to give my money are: 1) if you purchase tickets from Potbelly's (with purchase of sandwich), the tickets are discounted; and 2) it's the closest theater to me (aside from AFI which if they had more mainstream movies I would ALWAYS go to). Their automated ticket machines flat out suck. NEVER has all the automated ticket machines worked at one time... usually it's about 2 out of the 5. On multiple occasions when we purchase two tickets, we have received one ticket, or two tickets to two separate movies. WTF? How does one screw up the programming THAT BAD? The seats are comfortable, but again, on more the one occasion they have been covered in nacho cheese, or some other unidentifiable goo that quite honestly I don't really want to know what it is. Usually the rest of the experience is decent. On occasion they will screw up the sound or something, and once they played the wrong movie for us. The audience is often obnoxious (not the fault of the theater, really); talk at the movie, have children in R movies, and babies that cry. That's pretty typical. So yeah, if you have any option go to AFI! But if you want to see a mainstream movie in SS area, this unfortunately is the most convenient. You can always make a game of it -- see what kind of screw up you'll encounter this time around. read more

Good theatre, POOR management and security. Was there to see last showing if Avatar; when the movie ended, there was no staff to be seen. A woman was there crying in pain from a headache... Regal in Silver Spring is a nice theatre - it's big, generally pretty clean and has a lot of screens (even if they are kind of small) so movies are generally not sold out, but never go here on a Friday or a Saturday night (or anywhere on Ellsworth Drive for that matter) if you don't want a bunch of loud, obnoxious teenagers in neon clothing and ridiculous hairdos running around like mad and being inconsiderate to everyone else. And never, NEVER try to order refreshments less than a half an hour before your movie starts. If you do, you'll be made to wait almost 20 minutes for a pretzel (which, judging by the rubbery texture, I presume only needed to be heated up in the microwave) and then have one of the people behind the counter literally look directly at you and then walk away (ignoring you) when you politely inquire as to what's taking so long. And then when your pretzel FINALLY is finished, you will have it thrown at you, I guess because you've somehow inconvenienced the workers with your $8 (or however much that overpriced but oh-so-good pretzel costs.) And then, because you were standing off to the side for 20 minutes waiting for a pretzel like a moron, you will miss the previews. Save yourself some time and drive over to the one in Rockville town center. Much better customer service and it's not as metro accessible so there aren't too many immature teens running around and making noise. read more

Location! Location! Location! That's the main reason I go here so often: it's stellar. Right in the heart of downtown silver spring, it's next to a wide selection of restaurants and convenient parking garage that's free on the weekends and reasonably cheap otherwise. Great for grabbing a casual dinner/ lunch and a movie. For a structure so fabulous, I feel like it's under-used. They have plenty of space, but not plenty of staff - it always seems like they could use more lines than they have open to handle traffic, both for concessions and ticketing. The bathrooms can be hit or miss, depending on when you hit them, but points for never having to wait in a long line to use the ladies room - plenty of stalls to go around. The theaters themselves are pretty good. The chairs are big and comfortable, the screens are large, the theaters aren't too cold. A bit dirty at times, but no complains about the viewing experience. read more

One of the worst theaters in my opinion. Tickets are ridiculously priced at $14 for regular 2D, extra $3-4 for 3D and $20 for IMAX (which of course is NOT real IMAX). The sound is also below par. Last movie I saw here was Jurassic World and the sound sucked. Food takes forever to arrive (better off eating outside). This theater is overrated. If you're in the area, drive a couple of extra miles to AMC Center park on Powder Mill Rd. They have much better seats (Recliners!) and much better sound. Plus you can reserve seats online instead of waiting in line forever to avoid neck breaker seats. Every time I've been to Regal Majestic, there is always one seat in the auditorium that is broken or has a bag covering it. Overall, this theater is very bad. I recommend that you don't watch movies here. I will never, ever come here again. read more

YES! I finally get to write a review, I've been looking for a place to rave and rant! The Regal Majestic theater has improved throughout the years, However like most movie theater's do, this one does have problems. First of all. YES. THEY DO HAVE MICE. at least in the movie theater I was in seeing the New Spiderman. It was really gross, it interrupted the whole movie and I was sitting in the very top row and saw 2 or 3 of them running around on the steps and squeaking. Struggling to get through the rest of the movie, I went and informed a staff member who completely dismissed what I said about the mice. The cinema also seems to be short of staff. They have so many cash registers for the concession stands and most times there only seems to be 1 or 2 of them open, and there is a really long line of ppl trying to get to their movies. Same with waiting in line to buy your movie ticket. Last time I was there seeing Bourne Legacy there was only 1 woman at the ticket office and a really long line. However people also don't seem to realize how easy getting a ticket from the machines are. The only other thing I was going to mention is that the new menu seems very bizarre. They have all these new weird kinds of burgers, chicken nuggets and etc. not that i'm against those, its just sticking to popcorn,hot dog, pizza, tenders, candy, chips and salsa should be enough. No one cleans up after themselves after their movie has finished, that's why we have the mice. It is a big cinema, looks nice and has a lot of space, there could be more seating in the upstairs lobby. The popcorn could also be just a little bit better. I'm not even gonna get into the prices for food needing to go down, but that's just how it is. However in order for them to be really successful and to continue running, they need to take care of the mice problem or the theater itself is going to lose a lot more people. I now have to be cautious during a movie to make that their are no mice running up and down and trying to get into my food. It's really gross. However I have been going to Majestic for years and it would be sad to see it close. read more

What can I say? I love the staff. So friendly and peaceful. They do need to do better with the hot items at the concession stand, like the pizza, it's always dry and hard. The hot dogs are rubbery. Probably should pop popcorn in smaller batches so you're always getting it fresh and HOT. But I love the renovations and until they get it together, I just will enjoy Edward's warm greetings and the great movies in my comfortable seat. read more

Though the ticket prices are high and the theater can be crowded, the Majestic is in a great location, and has 20 screens with good seating and sound. My tips: buy tickets in advance or use the self-service machines. Avoid it on weekends or opening days. I am very proud that my boys (twin four year olds) sat through their first movie today!! However the theatre experience was lack luster. First of all, there were only two ticket windows open...this is a holiday weekend?! How would you like to wash you hands after going to the bathroom? Not at this theatre...no soap?! This is a movie theater! I've been coming here since it opened, perfect timing since I was in high school and I grew up with the movie theater in Wheaton. My, how things have changed. It seems like every time I come here the prices go up! I remember tickets used to be like $8-9 now they're $12.50! Movie theater food is always expensive so thats no surprise either. But the last time I went they actually added froyo to the menu and I was in the mood for some. I tried the mint froyo and it was soooo yummy! The girl working the register really hooked me up, my froyo was huge! And I ate the wholeeee thing :) The theaters are huge which big comfy chairs with stadium seating so really you can't get a bad seat. I have had a few problems though with seating. It can be really packed on weekends. The line might be really long but they move pretty fast and there are even lines for people to buy them electronically. Definitely check ahead or buy tickets ahead on weekends because movies sell out fast! Because some people are rude and decide to sneak into movies, I've walked into a completely packed theater with no seats left, after I bought my ticket. How annoying! On the weekends there can be a lot of rowdy teenagers and they usually have security or police there when there are big crowds. If you're going to watch a movie, this is the place to do it! read more

Not bad. Sorta big. Good location. The staff seems sort of impassive. The ticket guy didn't even tell us where our theater was and sort of muttered like he was being very inconvenienced when I asked him. Big theaters though. The prices are a pretty crazy though. And the food lines took forever. We weren't there at a peak time, so I'd hate to see it if we had been. The crowd was an interesting one, though I guess this was more bad luck than anything. But we had every bad moviegoer stereotype known to man in our row. We had the guy who shouted out "OH MY GOD" and "NO WAY" and commented to himself very loudly. We had one guy switch seats 6 or 7 times around us. We had some very fat woman with 2 little babies, one old enough to talk (a lot) wander in past us halfway through our movie (Predators,. Take the whole family!). Some other guy wandered over to me in the middle of the movie and asked "is this seat taken?" and sat by me. He asked again 5 minutes later. I curtly replied "still not taken!." Made it real interesting. The only non-annoying one was the little baby, who I figured was a sobbing crybomb waiting to go off. He kept his dang mouth shut through the entire loud movie. After the movie my wife reported that the ladies room she went into was a wreck of "used and abused" stalls and paper towel gummed sinks. With the price we were paying to be there, you'd figure that they might hire some dang custodial services. I guess this was just an unfortunate confluence of idiots at this one movie, so I'll give this theater another shot. But my patience will be slim. I don't mind driving all the way up to Arundel Mills for movies. Bass Pro Shops, for the win! Hey, by the way, I loved Predators. read more

Saturday, June 18 2011 2:30pm The theatre was easy to find in downtown silver spring by using Google Maps. It is not crowded right now, used an automated kiosk to buy my ticket. There is no one being loud right now. I'm in theatre 8 to see xmen first class. It is smaller but I was 15 minutes early and got my pick of seats. Theatre 8 is currently very clean and the seats are comfortable and recline. I did not buy concessions. read more
