Why do I come here? This theater is not the best. Consistently has dirty bathrooms with no locks, the staff are not super helpful, and I'm currently sitting in a theater that is showing trailers with audio and no video. Yes, at a movie theater. How the heck am I supposed to watch a MOVIE with no VIDEO?!?!?! Update: yup, the movie actually started without the video. It took about 12 people, 2 phone calls, and a whole lot of incompetence to finally get it restarted. Will I come back? Of course - it's in my neighborhood, parking is easy, and there are places to go after the movie. But seriously...clean your bathrooms and SHOW THE MOVIE! read more

Would you like to increase your small coke to a large for just 50 cents. Why did I say yes? My heritage... I think. The small coke is like already the size of a pitcher of Iced Tea. The medium coke is like the size of mop bucket. I enjoy this theater. It's kinda unique to me. The staff is all very friendly. Actually, I asked a manager for something, and he was like on it like white on rice. The screens are all big. I've seen two movies there recently and there were not problems. I've been in the IMAX theater and the sound was INCREDIBLE. The sound system literally shook the floor. You could feel the vibrations in the floor and seats. The screen's size and clarity were remarkable. Just on thing in that big theater. My seat cushion was broken. Which is why this was knocked down to 4 stars. It was super annoying the entire movie. Other than that, great experience. Just make sure you get maitenance in there to check the seat cushions, cause that can really make or "break" a movie experience. read more

Why have they not razed this place to the ground? I don't care if they were showing movies for free, I would not come back here. It's filthy, I've been in movies where patrons are yelling at screen, talking to each other, and/or texting through the movie, and the theaters are infested with vermin. I've been here several times and every time I come here, it gets worse and worse. During my last visit, apparently there were mice running though the theater. These chicks on either end of the theater start screaming, literally screaming, and acting a damn fool during the movie. "Oh my GAWD! It's mice in here ya'll!! They on the walls!!! Oh my GAAAAWD!!!" Not once, but at least 5 different times. I understand the outrage, but after the first time I saw it, or it touched me, or whatever the case was, I would have been out of there and immediately demanded a refund. These chicks? Nope. They stayed until the end and hollered throughout the entire movie. Last time I came, they also had a serious plumbing issue. Most of the toilets and all but 1 or 2 of the sinks were clogged. So gross! The bathrooms are usually not clean, but even by those standards it was unacceptable. On a personal note: I was also highly peeved that management deemed it necessary to increase (armed) security after the release of the movie "Red Tails". Met my gf at the Regal for the "long awaited sequel" Best Man Holiday Friday night. My frustration began after taking the Colesville Rd exit. It took me 30 minutes to get from Colesville Rd to the free parking garage on Wayne Ave. I finally waded through the throngs of people and made it to the theater. Between Thor & Best Man moviegoers, it was a zoo in there! The lines for everything were long & disorganized. The popcorn didn't taste fresh and the ladies room was a mess...It smelled of urine, toilet tissue was everywhere, and the floor was completely wet. My experience improved when the romantic comedy began...Approximately 99% of the people in the theater were ladies. They were screaming and making strange sounds to all the eye candy (i.e. Morris Chestnut wearing only sweatpants)... It felt like a pajama party. My appreciation for human anatomy was enhanced. ;-) I laughed, I cried, I wanted more! read more

Husband once announced if he never went to the movies again he would be happy, and I'm not far behind with that, so we are pretty much not the best people to rate theaters. But the pool was closed today so after camp I promised granddaughter a movie and dinner date. We went to see a child-friendly movie at the Regal Majestic. We're very familiar with downtown Silver Spring so easy parking. We got to the theater late afternoon so there was no line at the box office. I could have ordered tickets on-line but figured it wouldn't be crowded when we went and it wasn't. The place is huge with hallways that meander, but plenty of signs pointing you in the right direction for your movie. You enter at street level but the theaters are almost 2 stories up with stairs, escalator and an elevator available. In the upper lobby there's a big refreshment stand with a variety of choices, including the usual candy and popcorn but also "spicy chicken sandwich with fries" and "pizza", There's an open café seating area with a view of Veteran's Plaza for eating your refreshments if you like, and a small game area. Our theater seemed to be one of the furthest back and we passed a couple of restrooms, including a family restroom, and another snack bar which was closed on this weekday afternoon, on our way to our theater. The theater and restrooms were all clean. There were only a dozen people or so watching our movie so we were able to spread out with plenty of room. The seats were comfortable and reclined slightly, staff was pleasant, popcorn was fresh, and soda was huge so no complaints. Too bad the movie wasn't better, but the granddaughter enjoyed it so all was well. read more

Enormous movie theater conveniently located in Downtown Silver Spring and walking distance from the Silver Spring metro. It's near a bunch of restaurants so there are many options to grab a bite to eat before or after a movie. I was impressed by how big the movie theater is. The box office is near the entrance; to reach the theaters you must go up a huge flight of stairs/take a very long escalator ride. The theaters itself are quite spacious and the seats are pretty comfy. I sat in the very last row and still had lots of leg space even after fully extending my leg! read more

My experience was good, but not great. I saw Shang Chi, which I highly recommend! The seats were comfy with the ability to adjust and lay back and it wasn't crowded (for those that are more covid conscious). My biggest recommendation is to bring your own water bottle! One regular water bottle costs over $6 which is officially the most expensive water I've ever purchased - more so than amusement parks or even sports stadium prices. The tickets were already on the slightly higher side (about $16 per person) so I have a bit of a moral issue when companies mark up prices significantly, and as such have mixed feelings about recommending this place. read more

Pros---This theater does show some obscure films that would be hard to see elsewhere. The seats are comfortable and staff are good for what they do. The screens are big with great sound. The IMAX is spectacular. Cons---Despite my first pro, this theater does often play it too safe (such as playing Captain America 2 in 5 auditoriums.) The lines are often long with only one register open. The crowds can get rowdy. The staff are friendly. However, if you're going to charge $11 a ticket, don't have employees come in with a very bright wand and walk around the theater while the film is playing every 10 minutes. If I wanted to be distracted from watching the film, I would go down to the Academy 8 in Greenbelt and pay next to nothing for a ticket. All in all, a nice theater that's good for a pleasant film watching experience if you go at the correct time (early afternoon or morning.) read more

I have been coming to this downtown theater for the past few years now. It is not new and not the best theater I have ever been to, but it is very convenient and I never mind coming to watch a movie here. Prices are the same as every other AMC around the area so no complains there. The theaters themselves are pretty decent size - sound is fine, and the seats are actually comfortable - I don't find myself squirming in pain just 20 minutes into a movie. Additionally, there is enough space between rows for people to pass you without them dancing all over your toes (you still have to press yourself flat against your seat tho - lol) What i do not like is how messy the concession stand area is - candy and popcorn all over the floor, spilled drinks, empty napkin holders and a SUPER greasy butter machine that looks like someone poured butter on the machine rather than in their pop corn tub. What I also dislike is how their rest rooms are not always clean. I dont mind a theater being old, but being dated doesn't give them the right to be dirty, you know! So all in all, I don't particularly mind this theater, but I will not necessarily seek it out for any reason other than the proximity to my place or the movie they happen to be playing.. read more

Accessibility in the downtown part of Silver Spring near the metro and garages is good. The theaters are upstairs, and the escalators were down when I was visiting, which irked me. Restrooms were awfully small for a theater of this size. It does offer some fairly large screens and the potential for a nice night out in the area, being not far from much of D.C. and having cheaper and better local food options than some other theaters. As I've said before, I'm a movie theater hater. I don't like the prices, I don't like the lines, and I don't like the food. That said, this is where I go when I want to see the latest action-packed fantasy Hollywood thrill-ride whatever. Their prices are in line with every other megaplex, namely way too high. And of course avoid entirely the predatory prices at the concession stands. It's often quite crowded, especially on weekends or whenever there's a critical normative cultural requirement playing. You should expect all that. But they manage the crowds better than other places I have seen, and the facility itself is clean and seemingly well organized. Also, the theater integrates really well with the surrounding businesses in downtown Silver Spring, and is sort of an anchor tenant for that district. I think that works really well, and it gets both kids and adults out in the same area which is really quite cool. So, okay, given you're going to a movie theater...this is not a bad choice. IDEA: has anyone ever tried assigned seating at movie theaters? It seems like that would avoid the perpetual problem of people evenly spacing themselves out, leaving the late comers with single seats interspersed throughout the theater. Seems like someone ought to have solved for the optimal stacking in that medium. Just a thought. read more

I came here for a special pre-screening of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" this past Tuesday. The theater was clean and so were the bathrooms. They did a nice job of setting up for the screening and directing the people as we came in. We came straight from DC and had to eat dinner here; the food (burger and chicken sandwich; both with fries) was ok but it took fooooooreveeeeer to come out. It was almost as if they had no idea people were coming. Not sure if the grills were even on or what but man I waited for quite some time. The food was actually priced pretty reasonably (~$8 per meal) but one medium drink was over $5! Insane. That's how the movies get us though. read more

My family and I were waiting on an Uber after our movie when we noticed an employee (later identified herself as Dina Damte) yelling at customers, demanding to know if they had a ticket down in the lobby. She eventually made her way to us and did the same, at which point I presented my ticket to her and informed her that because it was so cold outside and we had not brought our jackets (Ubering back and forth), we wished to wait inside. She then rudely asked, "well you're finished with your movie? We need you to get out" and brought a security officer toward me. The security officer looked very sorry, but it didn't seem like he had any ability to disobey this woman in the middle of her power trip. It could have been a coincidence, but it did not help the situation that I saw her first go yell at the black family then approach my Asian family while ignoring the other white families in the lobby. When I pointed that out, she proceeded to go yell at the other families, too, kicking them out. I have never once witnessed paying customers being kicked out of the theater out into the cold with no explanation whatsoever and with a security guard wearing a bulletproof jacket. I could maybe understand if there was some good exceptional reason that was explained to the customers. But this was outright accosting, yelling, accusing, and shooing. I strongly recommend staying away from this establishment. read more

We got there a little before the start of the movie and the start of the previews. Unfortunately, we ended up with a broken seat for one of ours, so we moved over one. Later on, other people who came who supposedly reserved the seat, so we had to move. We moved elsewhere, and then after 10 minutes into the movie, someone else came for those seats... Pretty rude of them to interrupt when they could have just sat over 2 seats. So after getting moved twice, we ended up back in our seats. The original couple was pretty chatty too, which would have been helped by a lack of assigned seats. I've never been to a movie theater with a rule for assigned seating, but it turns out it's unfair, and first-come first-served works better. It makes sense for the opera or theater where you're paying different prices for tickets, but not the movies. I gave an extra star because my seat that worked was nice. I wish we both could have had that experience... read more

So I'm seeing a lot of previous reviewers mention how many high school age kids come here? That explains why they carded me when I went to get a ticket for 50/50. At first I was really surprised, because I've never ever been carded for a rated R movie. I guess I haven't changed much since I was 16, but still. It was 10:30 on a Saturday night, I didn't see many teenagers there. I was amused. Theater itself is pretty nice. The seats are really cushy and recline, which startled me when I plopped myself down at first. The location is really good. I don't have a whole lot to comment on here. Throw in non-reclining chairs and the leg room of an elementary school bus to complete the most overpriced and underwhelming movie viewing experience of my life. Only the second time I have ever sprung for a regular movie on IMAX and I can pretty much guarantee that the third time will not be here. My experience at Regal was rather disappointing. First, you have to park in the garage across the street, which will run you $5. Then, you can buy tickets at a kiosk, but even though they have a huge amount of space in the theater lobby, they only have 2 kiosks. Upstairs at concessions, all 3 of their ICEE machines are broken, and it's $15 for a small popcorn (without seasoning) and small soda. Also, they only have Pepsi, root beer, lemonade, Tropicana, and Mountain Dew as soda options, which was sad in of itself. Once we got into the theater, we couldn't even tell that the movie had started because the lights were left on for the first 10 mins of the movie. The chairs were nice and most of them recline, but unfortunately mine was broken and I couldn't move since i was sitting with a group. The best part of the experience, honestly, was that we went during a promo where we got to see an advance screening of a film (they don't tell you which one beforehand) for $5, but even the movie wasn't that good (can't fault Regal for that though). Overall, I had an extremely expensive mediocre experience, and I wouldn't recommend coming here. read more

It would be hard to have a less pleasant movie going experience then at this sad excuse for a theater complex. Starting with the ticket purchasing line, where management makes no attempt to control 'line-jumpers', makes no attempt to stop random people from barging to the front to just, "...ask a question," and where the employees manning the ticket windows greet you with hostility if they greet you at all. Here on a Saturday evening? This is what you'll find: A line that goes out the door and is 60 to 70 people long. 2 (out of 7) open ticket windows, where the employees move with the speed of drying paint. With 30 minutes to go before your film...you won't make it to the front, and you'll end up rushing up to the theater with no opportunity to hit the restroom or get a soda. And once you're in the theater? Seats that are so far off to the side that you'll have to cran your head around just to see the film, and sound that is turned up to a deafening volume. Expect permanent hearing damage if you happen to be in one of the smaller theaters, since Regal makes no attempt to modulate the volume for the smaller size of the space. Stress, hostility, neck-pain, and hearing damage...just what everyone wants in a theater. read more

I came here for the HUSTLERS pre-screen show and I wish I can say that I enjoyed the movie but we didn't even make it inside. We waited in line for almost an hour or so, no one gave us the heads up that the movie was full. The Regal staff kept checking us in and told us to form a line. The Allied Global Marketing (organization that hosted the movie) and Regal staff obviously failed at communicating with each other because a lot of us wasted our time waiting for nothing. The manager was no help nor was he sympathetic about our frustrations. I've never met such an insensitive manager in my life, Mr. Hubbard you could've done something about it but instead threatened us to file a complaint. He made a comment how there had been people waiting in line since 12 p.m. for the movie when it started at 7 p.m. didn't seem realistic to me, try again. He seemed careless about the situation and wanted us to leave without reason. Customer service skills doesn't exist here! read more

Concession stand is extremely sluggish. It took half an hour for them to prepare an order I made. The pick up line was extremely long too. I almost missed the start of my movie because of them. Quality of the theater has not improved in spite of all the renovations they keep making. They have no excuse to be slow with concessions either: there is another concession stand down one of the corridors that is completely unused. read more

So... I really don't think too much has changed since my last review here. I come to this location mostly out of convenience b/c it is super close to where I live. Would I come to this theater as much if I didn't live so close?.... ummmm probably not! But it does get the job done. I can say that the theaters that I have actually sat in seem to be pretty clean (at least they do in the dark). This place gets pretty crowded with kids on Friday & Saturday, so I would shoot for Sunday evening if you are planning to have a nice "adult night." On the other hand, if you are looking for a spot where your teens could hang out, this could also be your spot on Friday & Saturday. There is TONS of security (by security, I mean cops) here, and they actually have Ellsworth Drive blocked off so no cars can get through! This theater has many things going on for itself - many big screens, comfortable and reclining seats, etc. But there are few negatives that hold me back from giving it a higher rating. Among them - - for a theater of this size, there should be more ticket counters open during rush hours; - The main lobby area is kinda small too and is generally overcrowded with folks waiting to go to their show - The floors and generally dirty and restrooms are not well maintained too. - Also there is no direct access from the parking garage - a long walk especially in cold winter times and during rains! read more

I used to come to this theater all the time, back during my college days at UMCP when it was still new. Now, I'm only here for the free movie screenings. Huge cinema with many showings, but everything is old. The clothed seats are uncomfortable and falling apart. They need to renovate and change to reserved seating. Concessions: Long, slow lines. They have the usual items: popcorn, hot dog, chicken tenders candy, etc. They also have Angus cheeseburgers, pizza, and fried chicken sandwiches with waffle fries. It's located in downtown Silver Spring so there are plenty of food options in its vicinity. Parking: Two large garages nearby. Free during weeknights and weekends. read more

I went to see Black Panther 2 today and had to leave one hour into the movie. They put the heat so high like a sauna. Many people went out to let the manager know the heat was unbearable. Thé Manger called Mike said that there is nothing he could do. It took me 3 times to go and let him know the heat was unbearable. He then on the third time paged someone on the walkie and I could hear the reply that it would take another hour to an hour an half for heat to be turned down!!! mind u the movie is close to 3 hours long. I arranged a day off with my son to go see the movie. We had to leave. It was dangerously hot in there.
