I'm a Movie Buff. A Film Fanatic. A Big Picture kinda Babe. So my theater experience is important to me, especially since I signed up for Regal Unlimited. With Regal Unlimited, I can see as many movies as I'd like throughout the month, at any theater my choosing - how awesome?! Well, since I joined, I've had the pleasure of hitting all 3 local theaters and feel like I missed my calling as a Movie Theater employee and the free perks lol. With 3 options, it's easy to find your favorite and realize which offer what you want. For me, the concession stand is vital, the size and upgrades of the theater (especially within a pandemic!) and most importantly - comfy seating! Well, Royal Park is a cool theater but sadly, not my favorite of the 3 and maybe not #2. The location is great, but being the last theater in the city to be loved on by some upgraded renovations, what could be expected? While the other theaters are brand new or recently renovated, walking into Royal Park reminded me of going back to 1996. The carpets, the games, the decor - very much giving pre-Y2K, but that has nothing to do with the team that's there! Beyond the initial visual impression, my impression of the team was amazing. I was promptly greeted at the concessions counter by friendly faces who were so patient (because I'm incredibly indecisive although I always order the same thing lol) and so friendly! When my arms were full of snacks, a team member jogged up to open the door for me - what customer service, what a gentleman! So no, there are no reclining seats or fancy, freshly-made cocktails at this theater but the movie experience and the 5-star service is still being served up! :) read more

I recently went here for the first time and it was pretty ok. I liked that the theater was pretty dead compared to some others in Gainesville so didn't have to worry about getting there too early. My boyfriend and I wanted to play in the Arcade but the machines were cash only and there was no way to get cash in the movie theatre. I also really wanted to use the Photo Booth and the card reader didn't work at all which was kind of frustrating. As for the movie itself the chairs aren't that comfy they don't recline or anything. First time coming here the theater is need of a remodel very outdated. Popcorn is so bland even after adding butter so I would avoid and just get something else from the concession stand. No one in the theater when went in the am so quiet and good experience read more

Could not by tickets with cash as they require you to wait in a very long concession stand line to purchase. Being senior citizen with foot problems we left after waiting 20 minutes in concession line to buy tickets with cash. We left and enjoyed our movie elsewhere . Walked into the theater around the corner and had a much better experience. We were greeted at the door at the desk by staff. Bought out tickets and enjoyed our movie. read more

Not really what it used to be... Whatever you do, just try to avoid the popcorn if you see them not wearing gloves... WE MADE THE MISTAKE OF GETTING THE POPCORN AND it was a bad experience later that day (at night). I enjoyed the movie, but the popcorn wasn't agreeing with my stomach. I don't think that they made me sick or anything, but just saying to avoid the popcorn as it made my stomach upset that week. I'm recovered now but just avoid their food at all costs, and the theater was pretty rundown. Thanks for reading and I hope that you read this before and not after going here. If you can drive out to Starke, visit the twin theater there. It is much nicer, and smaller, but had good popcorn. Just avoid movie theater popcorn all together, it's not healthy and overpriced for what it is. Also going to mention that the workers here seem like they don't really care about their job (just saying). The projector in the theater room we were in was flickering some, kind of unpleasant but... it wasn't bad. The speakers were very loud and didn't seem programmed properly. One of the only cool things is that this theater is very cool looking on the outside, but just outdated. Nobody is outside by the ticket windows anymore. If you go here just beware of the popcorn and the loud speakers. Not very busy (probably for a reason), but it's worth going to a more busy theater. read more

Great experience! Easy check-in process and nice theater. It definitely is not a modern theater with lots of technology and huge recliner chairs, but it is perfect for a movie night. Chairs are comfortable and the screen size was great for the movie. They seem to be low on staff but they are all nice and helpful. I would come back if another good movie comes out. With the other in town competition this theater does not stand a chance. I went to regal royal park yesterday for a movie with my mom. The experience was not one that made me want to come back anytime soon, unlike the other two theaters in town. Not only has this one not been renovated (no new seats), the employees were awful. I bought a bottled water which was $6, apparently they had just put them in the cooler so it was hot. I asked if they had a colder one at the other counter, they said no. They offered me a cup with ice I said sure that will work. The cup they gave me was a so dang small it was not like the normal cup size or even the small cup size. I asked if I could have the small cup size they told me I had to buy it.... so wait Yalls waters are hot and I can't have a normal sized cup because of a mistake the employees have made by not keeping their waters stocked which I'm paying $6 for. That makes sense.... on top of that the popcorn was stale. The best thing to look forward when your splurging going to the movies is the crisp, buttery, artery clogging popcorn. The seats were smelly, and the employees seemed miserable... rightfully so. I even asked the a manger for a cup and he's the one who told me I'd have to buy it. It's literally a cup stop making excuses for your mistakes. I guess being that I used to work at Publix I would never treat my paying customers like that. I might have a different take on how to treat customers because of that background but I just figure to name the customer happy why not just give them a cup they want to make their experience better. I'm spoiled. Most of the theatres I go to these days have reclining seats and what not. Not Regal. Regal is still stuck in the '00's with the standard seating, it's still stadium, which is good. The bathroom though.. That was a trip back in time with little kitschy things on the door. I was kind of afraid. (tongue in cheek) The movie had good sound, the screen seemed undamaged and what have you. It was a clean theater, so there's that. read more

My experience at this theater was average - nothing was amazing, and nothing was horrible. However, with a new movie theater within a ten minute drive, this one may not be my first choice. First, there isn't reserved seating, so it may be difficult to find a large group of seats for a group. I recommend showing up to the movie early, especially if it's popular/new, and reserving the seats yourself. As for the actual seats, they do not recline and have small armrests that you share. If you prefer huge leather seats, I recommend a different theatre. The actual theater was relatively clean and fast-paced. I typically order my tickets online, so I didn't have to wait at the box office. They didn't check my purse and just took my ticket stub. During the previews of the movie, I did notice that they fast-forwarded through some of the previews to account for time. However, if you're solely here to see a new movie and leave, this place gets the job done. read more

Once the newest and greatest theater in Gainesville, this is now in third/last place. It is the oldest (when you take remodeling into account), and the only theater without reclining chairs and the ability to preorder your seat. Despite being closest to my house, it is now my third choice theater as well, however it is helpful on days like yesterday when all the good seats are taken in the other two theaters. When 4 good seats together to Jurassic World were unavailable at every time of the day at the other theaters we turned to Royal Park and were happy to find tickets were available at every time and that we just needed to arrive a bit early to get good seats together. In my opinion this is the best feature of this theater. Also worth noting, this theater gets all the big cardboard ads for the movies, so if you like taking pics in front of them, this is the theater to go to. Additionally this theater has ample parking, and has a variety of quick service spots (Moe's, Bento, Planet Smoothie, Cold Stone) as well as nicer dining (Ballyhoo and Bequeholic) you can eat at prior or after in within walking distance. In conclusion, while I couldn't believe Gainesville was getting a third theater, clearly this town can support it. This location serves as a good overflow theater and has a few other perks as well. read more

It's a movie theater so it's hard to not give this place a pretty good review. I guess if you did not like the movie you could give it a bad review (which I am sure has happened) but I am not going to be that way. Here is my likes and do betters. I like that they have a nice big parking lot and lots of restaurants nearby so you can get something to eat prior to the movie starting. I like the nice big seats and the theater size. I like the staff that work here always really friendly and have a great knowledge of the movies in theaters and soon to come out. Some do betters would be that they only have two ticket lines outside. They had a really long line on a Friday night and that could have been resolved by having more lines open. I think this place could do better with the price per ticket. It was $11 I believe and $13 for 3D movies. The bathrooms were not super clean, but again it was Friday night so it was really busy. The price of popcorn and soda always is really bad at movies but I thinks it is extra high here at this theater. The sound was nice, the seats were nice, and a great staff of friendly people made the movie going experience an enjoyable one. I will be back soon!!! read more

Regal Royal Park - Cinema Near Me - Gainesville, Florida

Could give less. Outdated theatre which play Indian movies. Don't mind outdated but the Indian movie sound was intolerable treble. Talked to staff who are all bunch of kids and was just told it happens with all Bollywood movies and can't do anything about it on a repeat mode. And another one trying to be managerial saying he is gonna call someone. Obviously nothing happened. By the way Bollywood is only Hindi language and I was watching a Telugu movie. The people screening these movies better let the theatre know they need to make adjustments for Indian movies as needed. It was such a bad experience that we decided never go to another Indian movie in town. read more

This theater is a little outdated but it is the largest one in town with plenty of parking available and the movie screens are huge. This theater has a lot of character and fun things going on. I like the photo booth and the arcade games throughout to play on. The party room is one of the nicest features. They have the freshest Nathan hot dogs I have had of the three local movie theaters. You can hear the movie showing next door, but this also true of the other theaters as well. My point is this theater is relevant and doing just fine. If this theater keeps being pleasant, bringing in the blockbusters, deep cleaning and keeps the fresh popcorn and concessions coming then it won't have to concern itself with a million dollar upgrade. read more

Disclosure: A family member has worked for Regal. Between the two regal theaters in town I prefer to go to this one as it's generally cleaner. Other than that, there isn't a difference in price or service. A few years ago they would have special events, such as anime nights, but they've stopped doing that for some time now. Fathom events are generally held at the other Regal theater in town. As you probably already know, the concessions prices are absurdly high. I recommend smuggling in candy to avoid getting screwed too much. While the prices are insulting, remember that it is a corporate decision to make them so. Don't take out your anger on the folks serving you your food. They're probably just as pissed at their employer for screwing over customers. Concessions staff are also obligated to ask you if you'd like various upgrades and add-ons. The theater hires random, anonymous "checkers" to come through occasionally to make sure people are spouting the company lines. If you're caught not doing it, you'll get marked up, and potentially fired. While I think Regal doesn't care at all about their staff or their customers, there aren't very many other options for watching movies in town. And at the end of the night they do pop their popcorn well, and they keep the movies rolling. I'm waiting for this theater to turn into a dollar theater like the old Royal Park Theater was. read more

This theater gets the job done. It's not outstanding - there aren't reclining leather seats or huge armrests between each seat and you can't reserve seats ahead of time - but the floors are pretty clean and I haven't had any bad experiences here since I moved to Gainesville 5 years ago. If you are looking for the more luxurious experience, then look into the Regal theater at Butler Plaza instead. Here are some tips to a good experience: As I said before, there is no reserved seating so I would show up a little earlier to the theater to ensure you get good seats. There's a fairly large parking lot for the theater and the plaza. However, being only one of two theaters in the university area, it still gets pretty full during popular movie-going times (i.e. the evenings) so be prepared to park a little further and walk. The line to buy tickets also gets pretty long in the evenings so to speed up the process further, you can buy tickets online or using the kiosks inside. The kiosks always have a shorter line than the outside booth, so go there if you buy tickets on-site and you are paying with a credit card. read more

Not much to say. I've had very positive experiences here, and I go to the movies regularly. It's a clean theater with your standard pricey concession stand. Regal does allow the purchase of beer or wine (limit of two), if you feel like adding that to your moviegoing experience. I really like the classic movie theater aesthetic at this theater (Neon!), which is slowly being stripped from the Regal in Butler Plaza. Regal is basically the only game in town, so if you don't like it... too bad! read more

I really could care less about some seats as long as it's still an okay theater. but I don't think this theater is worth it. Our tickets were 12 dollars each. and this might be a weird complaint but the theater was not dark enough. when the lights came back on I swear I could barely tell the difference. there were 2 deformed dots on the screen that I couldn't stop noticing (in theater 14), and although this is common at other theaters I could hear the movie playing next door. overall it was just too many distracting factors to really enjoy the movie. hopefully they get it right soon. read more

One of only a couple movie theater options in Gainesville, this one is Ok. With Regal having the movie monopoly here they can pretty do whatever they like. However, they have done a good job keeping the theater up to date, and even offer beer and wine now which is nice. There really isn't too much to talk about for this mediocre theater. This theater used to be more expensive than Butler Plaza for some reason, and don't even think about coming here during busy hours or you will never be able to park, ever. The good thing about the location is once you park you can walk to the multitude of delicious restaurants and bars in the same area, and most are open late. Bento is my favorite. read more

Still has that magic feeling that all theaters had when I was a kid. I've been in one movie where they didn't turn the audio on until I went to tell an employee it was off, but you can blame the new "digital projection systems" for that--not the theater. (One of the main selling points for these digital setups was that the theaters could save on labor because they wouldn't have to staff the projection booths anymore--everything would run by itself! And if theaters didn't switch to these new systems, they risked losing customers who'd complain that they didn't have the latest and greatest digital tech. Sometimes the old ways are better.) Yea, going to the movies is ridiculously expensive, but the kids love it, and for some new releases it's completely worth it. This is my favorite theatre in Gainesville... large, clean, and the location is great. Last movie I saw here was Jack and Jill. For some reason, the show we saw had subtitles, so that was a bit strange, but otherwise it was a fun day at the movies! read more

Hello gals and pals, This was a HORRENDOUS experience. My lady friend and I went to this theater...and the ticket booths were closed? They now take their tickets at concession, smelling strongly of failing business and service. Sorry, a bit rude but TRUE. Continuing, Madame and I purchased tickets for the Joker movie. We bought a drink as well. The man checking us out said in his teen boy voice, "I always get my tickets last minute!" So my Madame gracefully said, "Yes, I ALWAYS get to the movie theater at least 15 minutes before." We went to the back, where another employee hole punched our card and pointed with his stubby finger, "Joker over there!" ...this is where it gets crazy. We sat in the crusty old seats, speakers blasting (only in the front, no surround sound), and watched commercials for almost 30 minutes. During this time..we noticed all the pictures on the screen were glitching out! Projector issues? I smell that must be so. ALSO, all these commercials were kids movies? Strange! Then, we see a wee tot trot in with her parents...a five year old in a rated R movie! My goodness! But then, to our horror...we realized we were in the wrong movie... NOT OUR FAULT HOWEVER. We checked the ticket, and we were in the right theater...? So we scurried out, along with the mother who was FURIOUS about the glitching screen, and told the people there must be an issue of the wrong theater. The young man at the concession stand said to be in an apathetic tone, "we tried telling you that it was Thursday." If that was true, my dear audience, why did they: 1. Let us buy a drink. 2. Not comment on my madame's 15 minute comment. 3. Let us walk to the back with a drink. 4. Our tickets hole punched. 5. Then told what theater to go to, with a great visual of a pointed finger? 6. All employees were in the lobby, and our theater was right in the lobby...so all three employees saw us walk in. So does this mean we can all just waltz into any movie there? So hey, I guess.. free movies for everyone? Also, why are there theaters not labeled by what movie is playing? Only labeled by the number? If we had saw that it was indeed a child's movie, and not Joker, we would have not walked in. My madame and I were so panicked at hearing the man say that to us, we scurried out of the theater and DROVE away. I am now writing this in the public library, shaking, and tormented over this unnatural occurrence. So don't go here, UNLESS you love old uncomfortable seats, apathetic employees, wonky screen that glitch out, and unsavory sodas. This has been my testimony, Bad Reviews Sally OUT! p.s. Unbelievable experience. Not with the movie but with the concession stand. My wife and I have a Regal rewards card and we had a free small popcorn on it. I went to the stand and I advised the girl that I wanted redeem the small popcorn. I asked if I could get a medium and I was willing to pay the difference. She said sure. After I got the popcorn I told her that I wanted 2 drinks. She recommended for me to get a combo. I asked her if in the combo, I could substitute a soda for a bottled water, she said yes. So, I got a medium popcorn one medium soda and a bottled water. Because I was in a hurry I just paid with my credit card and we went to the theater. After I got home I was looking at the receipt. She chard my card $ 12.84. I remind you that I wanted to redeem a small popcorn and pay the difference to upgrade to a medium. She charged me $7.09 for the combo plus $5.29 for the bottled water. I know that I should have checked the receipt. I called and ask to speak with a manager. He pretty much said there was nothing that he could do. He did say, "well at leaset you still have a free small popcorn that could redeem next time." I told him that was not good customer service. He AGREED with me and said, "sorry about that, there is nothing I can do." I said that it, I'm $#@t out of luck. He said, Yep. I never go to this theater again. I will tell everyone I can of this experience. UNBELIEVABLE! read more

What can I say? It's a standard movie theater, with lots of screens showing lots of main stream films. Seats are comfortable and the sound is clear and bright. The prices are high (as they are pretty well everywhere these days), but as a "senior" I appreciate being able to save a buck or two at any time in the day. We gave up on paying for theater popcorn and snacks a while ago, but this theater's offer of a glass of wine may win me back. read more

I probably go to the movies once a week at this theater and within the past couple of months things have been going downhill! I usually go mid afternoon on the weekends and I can't tell you how many time they haven't turned on audio until halfway through the previews or the video has cut in and out. I'm not sure I've ever reviewed a movie theater, but this one deserves a warning. I saw Deadpool last night (great movie FYI) and the theater was musty. It was hot and humid despite being a cool day outside. As far as movie theaters go it does its job, but if your movie is playing at a different theater I suggest you visit there. read more

So much better than my Jacksonville experience!! Again this was my first time In Gainesville. My friend and I decided to have a girls day and started off with wine and popcorn. What a perfect mix! Ménage a Trois $7.99 in a tiny plastic cup seemed like a good idea until I took a sip and realized it was gone lol! Oooops! We saw bad moms. It was a Friday matinee and the place was quiet! Thank god because that movie is a party! I had a blast! The theater was clean and no weird smells! The picture was clear as it should be.. No blurriness. I was comfy and satisfied. I know you can't change the prices of the food or drinks at a theater but $7.99 for that amount of wine is kind of crazy! At the end of the day I had a great time with my friend.. That's what counts. I have nothing bad to say! When I'm in the area I'll be sure to swing back in! read more

Long lines and managers who stood around looking bored while the employees did all the work. The poor girl in box office was overburdened with the line and when I asked why it was so long, she could only smile and say "it's out of my hands." Meaning the management couldn't be bothered to put someone else in even though there were three of them standing around. The employees were nice and the facilities decent, and the movie itself ran fine. I just can't enjoy an experience where the people "in charge" of the place are clearly morons. read more

Overall Decent theater. But recently i was really annoyed that after handing my card to the cashier she put it back on a sticky countertop rather than in my hand. The countertop was clearly sticky with some kind of soda spill on it and she put it right in the middle of the mess. I had to clean my card afterwards. Also I remember another time, I believe it was the same cashier, doing the same thing but with cash & change.... everyone knows that It's very annoying to pick up change off a countertop. Nice and quiet movie place. But we went on a weekday. I hear weekends it is VERY busy. Hey, they have beer too !

Went online saw 47 meters at 10:30am at Regal 16. Drove 40 miles, bought 3 tickets. Went in 10:30 am, found ours theater 6 sign said 47 meters, went i and sat down . We eventually heard previews, but screen was. Not on. Waited and waited. Let employee know there was no pi . Finally at 10:58am, peopl came in with 3d glasses. I went out and look at overhead, it had changed to Cars 3 3d. I went to front desk an ask. They said it was card. Attendant looked at our tickets . They ssid 47 meters at 10:35 am. It sucked to wait 40 min, and miss our show. Next one was after 3 pm. Mad about BS Susan Jones read more

Typical movie theatre with typical prices for tickets and concessions and the typical lineup. Nothing too special, but I appreciated that they have a student discount (seems like a lot are no longer offering those) and that the specific theatre we sat in was very clean and had comfortable seats. Seemed large enough for the area, and the parking wasn't terrible either. read more

The newer theater in Gainesville, located on Newberry Road. Just a word to the wise, that if you are go there on a Friday or Saturday night, you might be parking in the Stonewood Parking lot. It gets seriously busy. A much larger theater and much cleaner than the one on Archer. Too bad they don't play the same movies simulaneously :-( read more
