I really like this local theater. Reclining seats, theater isn't huge, doesn't need to be. Had a great time. Lots of places to eat before or after in the same center. Order online, at the lobby tablets or at the concessions desk. TUESDAY is special pricing day - typically $7.99 for a movie. Lots of food choices and a bar. 2 All-Gender toilets - single entry and male/female upstairs. Don't be put off by the 2 hour parking signs, those are to keep UCI students from parking and walking to campus. read more

Wow, it's been a minute since I've been to the theaters. I made it to Regal UTC one evening to catch The Housemaid before it left theaters. I was super surprised by how small this theater was. They don't have the typical ticket stands anymore, as they've traded them in for tablets at the front, but you could still buy movie tickets from the concessions staff if you wanted human interaction. We ended up in the front row because we booked late, and I didn't realize how small the theater was (I've only been to the jumbo screens and seating at Irvine spectrum). I liked that the seats reclined, making it pretty comfortable. The worst part was that for the whole theater, there was only one female restroom. Luckily, it wasn't too busy when I went but imagine the line if it was busy night. I enjoyed the movie, but would probably opt for a different, more modern and spacious theater going forward. read more

Being a student at UCI it can be hard to find things nearby that are affordable. Luckily, this movie theater is right in the heart of UCI's frequented UTC and has student discounts! Also, you didn't hear it from me, but Groupon also comes in clutch for lessening those ticket prices. My most memorable experience was coming here to view the Renaissance movie with my mom. The drinks they made were almost stronger than the ones they actually had at the Sofi Stadium Renaissance concert. The theater is small and intimate so it felt like we were reliving our experience at Beyonce's concert. Moral of the story is don't sleep on Regal! read more

I've always been hesitant to check out this Regal when there are so many great ones in the Orange County area, but when it had the rare movie that wasn't available anywhere else, I decided to take the plunge. It's a smaller theater, so naturally there's less selection, and it was quiet when I went, but can imagine it getting crazy when a mainstream blockbuster is out. I've always been hesitant due to the parking situation in UTC in general, and don't get me wrong is kind of atrocious in terms of location sandwiched between Target and Trader Joe's and you get some of the most creative drivers around here. I was told they don't really enforce the parking limit if you're going to the theater, and I imagine a stub is your get out of jail free card in the worst case scenario. I didn't end up staying past two hours, but I may find out one day. Definitely a nice renovated place with great recliners putting it in the same category as Kaleidoscope, where it's less selections but you're sure to get a nice chill experience. This regal cinemas is really clean and up-to-date/modern. It features several kiosks up front to select the film of interest and seating options. You also can put in your regal rewards number on them too. They also have a bar for alcohol beverages should you want any. I liked that there was a lot of seating at this theater. I highly recommend downloading the regal app to become a member so that you can earn points with the movies you watch. I believe you also get discounts with the concession stand by being a member. Four stars since there are kiosks that you can use to buy tickets. Most of the regal theaters in the area don't have those and you have to line up at concessions to get the tickets. It is a small theater, but the reclining chairs are nice and in decent shape. I only saw two all-gender restrooms on the bottom floor, which doesn't seem like enough for a movie theater, but maybe there were other facilities somewhere. The theater also had a bar, which others in the area don't have. They play a LOT of trailers...I came 20 mins after a movie start time and trailers were still playing. read more

This is one of the theaters that offers reclining chairs for regular movie screens. Parking is tight with too many 30 minute lot than the 2 hour (even that is tight if you are going for the movies). I want to appreciate the staff who are helpful with any questions you have at the concession center. We go on Tuesdays with the kids so movie ticket and popcorn is half off. I'm giving this 1 star because there isn't a zero option boo! I am overly irritated by this unnecessary rude and disgusting customer service. My friends and I planned a fun hang out to watch the new obsession movie but since we're not all over 18 (mind you two of us are 18 and the other 2 16). My friends grandpa passed away last week and we wanted to cheer her up but now she's even more devastated now. Her and her grandpa planned to watch this movie together but he passed too soon. I'm overly pissed I literally see worst things on the news and yall over here are worried about some teens watching a horror film ( btw my cousin went to school the main character of the movie so now I can't even support my own friends thanks to this stupid establishment. ALSO I freaking paid 20 dollars but they only refunded me 13!!! Explain this plus we were blown away by a wave of stench when we walked in and soon we figured out who was culprit. I really like this theatre. It's clean and the seats are nice and spacious. The reclining seats recline all the way back! A/C was working fine when we went. Staff are really friendly here, too. I was a little concerned about parking since all the spots have a posted time limit of 2 hours max and Mission Impossible was going to be over two and a half hours. When I asked the ticket taker at the door if they have a special tag that I can put on my car so as not to get ticketed he said that it is fine to park in any of the two hour spots and I won't get ticketed... it's mainly a deterrent for UCI parking. (I did not get a ticket btw). The main reason it's not a five star is that the popcorn didn't taste freshly popped... and we were there for the first showing of the day so...??? This was a big disappointment since I always look forward to hot, freshly popped popcorn when I go see a movie. :/ Tuesday discount days are also a fantastic deal! read more

This place used to have a good mix of big and indie movies. Now it's only bigger movies. I can't understand why they can't have a couple smaller films, even on just a couple showings a day. I have to drive down to Spectrum for that, and even they'll only have an indie movie for a week or so before moving on. I would actually go to Regal University Town Center more than I do, but they just keep the same movies for a long time. For example, they're still showing F1 and Jurassic World along with Superman and Fantastic 4, and then the two new movies, Naked Gun and Bad Guys 2. I get that F1 and Jurassic were popular movies, but I bet many of the showings each day have zero customers. Are you telling me that University Town Center would not get more business by having a couple indie movies a month? Indies certainly need to have a relevant topic or popular actor to draw random viewers, but for dedicated indie film lovers, you can't do much better than a college town like Irvine. There're professors, students, and just old folks who live nearby and don't want to drive to Spectrum. I'm sure that it seems like a smart business decision on paper for this location to do what it's doing now. I'm sure they were just hemorrhaging money before by showing a couple smaller films, but they can't be pulling in the dough by keeping F1 and Jurassic World for an extra 3 weeks on 4+ showings a day each. As far as the experience here, they have good recliners and small, intimate theaters. The EXIT signs are waaaaaayyyyy too bright and elevated to the point that it distracts me from the movie. But if so hold my hands up, I can block the piercingly bright green light somewhat. They use the nice digital projectors with good sound unlike Regal Metro Pointe. Sometimes they don't take the utmost care to ensure that the movie is perfectly fitted to the screen, so youll see a little extra on the side or the bottom. And the screen itself will have some reflections in the middle like it needs to be cleaned or is just old or something. But overall, I haven't had a film ruined by the facilities and hardware or Regal University Town Center, and that's definitely an improvement over the Metro Pointe location. The people who work here are generally nice. The bathrooms are right outside the theater doors. The inside of the building was updated not too long ago. The food is typically horrible movie theater food that costs way too much, but luckily there are several overpriced restaurants all around the theater, as well as a Trader Joe's. Parking is somewhat competitive, but I can walk. Sometimes the college student who go here lack self awareness and good manners, so they keep checking their phones every 10 minutes without even dimming the brightness. Haven't experienced a bunch of taking tho, which is nice. read more

Love that all of the seats recline-major plus. Well stocked concession stand and temperature inside is perfect. Their bathrooms, however, are disgusting. So bad, I will not be returning to this theatre unless I absolutely have to. Pee all over the floor in both restrooms, smelled horrible, and just grimy. Went the movies tonight, got seated in the theatre to get out of the heat... I dressed warmly - as movie theaters are generally on the cold side... I told my partner it was a little warm in here - he agreed - and went to the lobby to report the issue to management... and was told 'yes our has been malfunctioning for several days and will be repaired in a few days... reason for re-ads...??? I actually am impressed with the remodel. Very clean and "new" feeling. A little sad they removed the iconic front with the ticket booths because that really was a great experience and way to start your movie. When you walk in there are kiosks now for you to purchase your ticket on your own. The seats and theaters are clean and surprisingly not very full. I am not a fan of the parking lot here. Rare to find decent parking so expect to walk a bit. read more

Normal theaters with UCI students. SO, it's noisy before, during, and after the movie; cell phones are going off during the movie; everyone stays until the very LAST credit is shown, so it's crowded getting out. Seats are slightly uncomfortable, but again, it's a regular or normal theater. It does not have plush, side, comfortable, I-want-to-lie-back seats. The view of the screen is great from any position including the sides seats. The staff are very friendly, and very kick-back, so make sure to ask for things ...... Like the Moviebill for Avengers Infinity War today. Will I return? I would if I want to see a movie with college students again. Not a lot of bathrooms though and the downstairs bathrooms are all gender shared and some of them could get dirty. *** Updated Review (4/28/2019) *** One-star for the parking mess!!! I was meeting up with some people here to watch Avengers:Endgame - which is a 3 hour movie. The biggest flaw this theater has is the limited amount of 4-hour parking spaces in the entire lot. These coveted spaces - about 12 or so total - are surrounded by 2-hour spaces and 45-minute timed spaces. As mentioned in my previous review last year where I gave them two stars - each parking spot has a sensor that alerts the lot overseers if a car goes over the assigned limit. Why would you even screen a THREE-HOUR movie with no preparations for parking? If parking isn't something they have direct oversight over, at the very least, the movie theater should have made special arrangements with the shopping center to accommodate their patrons with paid tickets to see Endgame. It does not make sense to have to park in a 2-hour spot, rush out halfway through the movie to move your car (and thus reset the sensor) - resulting in you missing a part of the movie. Regals UTC should think AHEAD next time you screen a movie longer than 2 hours (taking into account that some movies have previews that last 15 to 30 minutes) - and work it out with the center parking guards. It shouldn't be on the customer - your paying patron - to deal with the mess. The parking situation alone should be more than enough to convince a driving patron (because I imagine this theater does cater to a lot of UCI students) to drive over the AMC at the District or the Regal/Edwards Spectrum. Bottom Line - DO NOT watch a 2+ hour movie here unless you're ready to deal with the parking mess here. There are simply not enough 4-hour parking spots to accommodate watching any movie longer than two hours without risking a ticket. Comments regarding seat comfort, screen/sound quality and odd placement of restrooms are in my previous review below (5/2018). read more

We came here to see Oppenheimer and for the entire 3 hours of the film PLUS previews, it was hotter than hell inside. I was sweating my a$$ off. Legit dripping sweat. I couldn't get comfortable. Usually when you go to the movies it's freezing inside....I'll never come back to this theatre. Pls get some ac!!! Or some fans when the ac doesn't work??ffs the movie went from 9:30pm to 12:30am. This theater is undergoing renovations at the moment (Feb 2019) so hopefully it gets the facility facelift it needs. The people are nice and the popcorn is great albeit too salty but the seats are far too narrow and don't have the luxury feel of today's movie theaters. There is a Target right next door so you can grab candy and Starbucks for the movie. read more

A "mainstream" brand theater that shows exclusively indie movies, awesome! The theater is not the most updated ever (but is clean and comfortable), not somewhere you would want to necessarily watch the latest big blockbuster, but this theater doesn't serve that purpose anyways. Tips: -this parking lot gets crazy and there are not that many spots that let you park for more than 45 min. According to the staff I spoke with, you can park in a 45 minute spot and it shouldn't be a problem (and if it is, you can simply tell the theater and they will void the parking ticket). -if it is a popular movie, come early, don't be fooled by thinking a middle of the day matinee on a weekday won't be full. It seems many retirees frequent this place. read more

went here all throughout undergrad and while they are lacking in staff and have awful wait times I'd brush it off. However there are just basic safety issues that the manager refused to address once brought up. Brought my partner here for the first time to see Oppenheimer and she left to go to the restroom- assumed the exit sign meant exiting the theatres She was locked outside in a vacant hallway for over 30 minutes until I checked my phone mid movie. I notified the nearest staff and they told me there should be an exit door. She tried every single door available and both were locked and didn't budge. Staff didn't know what to do and finally went and opened the door and let her out. I asked the manager why 1) she called the establishment NINE times and not a single person answered 2) why they claim their doors are unlocked but they aren't. What would happen in a time of emergency? Or if someone didn't have their phone? I was poorly informed that the theatre did not have a line hooked up nor in use. The manager completley blew me off and was apathetic at best. There are better theaters elsewhere who hopefully are more detail oriented. read more
